Michele of Richmond TX writes (7/28/01):
On July 26, 2001, I took my bid for granite countertops to the Expo Design Center, a Home Depot Co. It is a policy of Home Depot's as well as Expo to "match all competetor's prices" After estimating the amount of granite, and type of edge, Marsha presented me with a bid.

I asked "so you are supposed to match prices, correct?" She stated yes, but she would have to take a copy of my other bids to her manager to review. After copying my kitchen floor plan, as well as bids from two other companies, Marsha stated that her manager would require 3 days to review my bids, to make sure the companies I received them from were legitimate and reputable.

I stated that I know several million-dollar-custom-home builders who use both companies, and they are extremely reliable. The next day I received a phone call from Marsha stating "after reviewing your bids, we have decided to pass on this."

Since when do they get to "pass" on honoring their very own policy? I have spent over $40,000.00 at Home Depot in the last 7 months, and this is not the first problem I have had. They also overcharged me $80.00 on faucets at Expo, stating, "Our prices are even lower than regular Home Depot's."
