Emeril Cookware

Joanne of Sanford, FL July 16, 2009

I purchase the chef Emerill non stick med sz cook pan. Maybe titled omelet pan. It is not quite a yr old. The pan is beginning to peel. I had heard that the non stick properties are considered carcinogens, if consumed could be dangerous. The pan was 75.00 and because of the length of time I don't think I can get it replaced or even who to contact.

Rose of Seward, NE July 2, 2009

My husband and I received a set of Emerilware pots and pans for our wedding in May. We've had the set just over a month. Today I was simmering some food on a medium-low temp. I was in another room when all of a sudden I heard a loud pop. When I went to investigate I found that a hole had blown right through the glass lid! All of the glass was shattered, most still intact, but it sent shards of glass everywhere! I was shocked!

We purchased our set of Emeril pans in 2006 and payed 350. They claim to be non-stick, but food constantly sticks to the bottom of the pan. I was using one of the saucer pans and when I lifted it up, the bottom fell off. I called the warranty department and they said I have to pay to ship the pan back and wait to see if it is covered. I am now too afraid to use my pans, I don't want to get burned as the bottom falls off. You can see where it was bonded together, not very strong craftsmanship. Now I will have to replace my whole set with something I will not be afraid to use.

Jo of Medina, OH May 28, 2009

After much procrastinating about making this investment, and lots of consideration regarding which brand, I purchased my Emerilware in March 2009. I returned the first set because of dissatisfaction with the water spots even though I had followed manufacturer's instructions. Replaced with the Pro-Clad and now I'm scared to death about any future incidents.

To date, I have not had any of the issues I've read here (which are so very recent!) but I admit, I have not cooked to the extent that I did in my younger years. I have my old Wearever stainless steel set boxed for a garage sale but it looks like I'm going to put it back in the cupboards and attempt to return the new set to Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Emerilware with All-Clad Metalcrafters. Had two separate stock pots explode from the bottom spewing molten aluminum. The first must have occurred when in use by a family member. I didn't find it until I went looking after the second. The second occurred just shortly after I put a pot with water onto boil. I was standing right next to it when it occurred, first a popping, smoke, and molten aluminum on my range and my clothes. Fortunately, I was not burned. However, my family or my pets could have been potentionally harmed had anyone been standing next to me. The burner on the electric range. The bottom of the pot reflected an explosion. The burner reflected an implosion.

All-Clad denied any defect in the product line and blamed it on my range burner...what about the folks who have gas or smoothtop? This product poses an extreme danger to anyone using it. Time is not on your side, folks. STOP USING IT. I loathe having to destroy a gorgeous set of cookware I had owned for just a few months, but I won't take the risk and even donate it. I plan to destroy them. By the way, All-Clad kept the damaged cookware...never returned it, but I have pictures! I urge everyone who has had these problems to contact the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and lodge a Consumer Product Incident Report. This cookware MUST be removed from the market. Out the cost of the cookware, some 250 and destroyed the burner and the plug-in unit, which will run close to 100 to repair on my own, more if I contract out the repair.

My sister-in-law and her husband are borrowing our Emeril stainless steel pots and pans. However, after thismorning I am picking up the cookware and returning it to Bed Bath and Beyond where it was purchased. Thismorning my brother-in-law was cooking eggs just like his family and my family have done many times before with these pans. However, this time the bottom of the pan that he was cooking in began to melt. Before realizing it the melted metal dropped onto his foot and burnt him severely.

I have NEVER heard of this happening before until I searched the web for recalls on Emerils products. I did not see any recalls but there are many complaints on this website about the same thing happening to others. Obviously this is not the first incident. These pots and pans are EXTREAMELY DANGEROUS and NEED to be recalled!!!

My brother-in-law has young children and I have two little boys. To think that the metal could have dropped on one of them is frightening! I will never use these pans again. I am returning them immediately and I will expect to get a full refund of my purchase price.

I purchased emeril cookware 9 pieces about 6 years ago. I guess I should feel lucky compared to the other complaints I read. I found they wore out too fast. The money I spent for calaphon pots I feel they should last a lifetime. I am refering to the nonstick ablities. I overlooked the fact you cannot clen the outsides but the inside now rusts unless I hand wash and dry.I now have to use a nonstick spray to cook with. I have stainless steel cookware for over 30 years and its as good as when I bought it
