Consumer Complaints & Reviews

We bought a refurbished Gen 4 in July 2011. A refurbished was cheaper than a new one and came with a one-year warranty. Started using it in November 2011 when it got cold out and it stopped running in December. The customer service folks said we could not get any refund because we were past our 60 days from purchase, even though we did not run it till November and did not need it in July. So they sent a return label via email. We sent it back. Three weeks later we got another Gen 4 refurbished unit. It worked great for 2 weeks, then it only would run at low no matter where we set the power setting. Looked as if only one element was lit in there, too.

I spoke to a fella at our local Ace Hardware. They carry Edenpure Gen 3s (USA made) not the Gen 4s. He says too many complaints about the Gen 4s. We bought a Sunheat brand unit from him and we really like it. I intend to call a phone number the girl at Edenpure gave me to see if there is a service/exchange center close to where we live to ask if we can exchange our crappy Gen 4 for maybe a Gen 3 or get our Gen 4 fixed. My girlfriend thought they were made in America, too. Ours is not. But the guy at Ace Hardware carries only the USA made Gen 3s and says he has had no complaints. She said she would not have bought it if she knew there were China made units and USA made units because she heard they were made in the USA. She wants her money back!

Quit working, never did perform as stated in commercials.

I called about this months ago and the rep said treat it like your computer, power off and turn on. I let this heater sit for 2 months and powered it on still throwing cold air. What do I do now? I did buy a good ceramic heater from Wal-Mart for a lot less than $397.00 for the Eden Pure and it works great! There is a lot more to this story but to sick at this time to finish typing. Hope I can get some help as I really did like this heater. Purchased this heater after my husband passed in late 2009.

I purchased Edenpure Gen 4 on November 22,2010. It worked great from the time we started using it on December 27, 2010 through March 2011. We started to using it again in November 2011. It worked for 2 weeks then started to blow out only cold air. I cannot reach anyone on the phone and my emails are being ignored. This company needs to have a class action suit against them charging $400.00 for a piece of junk and not honoring a warranty that Bob Vila stands behind. I wonder how he'd feel if he was sued along with Edenpure. If anyone knows how to start such an action, please let me know and show me where to sign.

I returned an EdenPur heater gen4. I received an EdenPur heater gen3. All I want is a label to return the wrong heater and get the right one we ordered! Or, return our money, and then we'll send out the wrong heater you sent us!

I sent a heater back that would not heat. I had to pay shipping to get them to honor warranty. I received a rebuilt heater in about 3 weeks. I plugged the new heater in, ran 5 minutes and shut down. I let it cool, turned the temperature down, and the heater ran for 10 minutes and shut down. I have been on phone and Internet for two days. They were to send me prepaid UPS label to return. I waited a day and a half, no label came. I got back on the phone and waited 15 minutes to get call through. I had to go over everything that I discussed on Friday. It seems that the representative did not send me the label. I had to wait to get another representative that could authorize the label. At this time, still no label and I have a heater that does not work.

I bought this heater for about $400 in November 2011. It stopped putting out heat, and only blew out cold air in January 2011, and I had to take it in for repair. That time, the owner's daughter, Holly, gave me a loaner heater, and I got my heater back in a few weeks. However, 4-6 weeks later, the heater failed again, and the Edenpure store had closed, so I had to go through corporate. It took several days to get to a person, who would even help me, and I wound up calling the manufacturer, who tried to get me to buy another heater (are you kidding? The product was brand new and had broken twice, before it was even six months old!). I sent it in for repairs.

It finally came back weeks and weeks later, but the heater's cord would get dangerously hot. I called again, and they asked me to send it back in. At this point, it was late March, and I had been without the heater. I paid for longer than I had been able to use it. I asked for a loaner. They refused, and told me to buy another heater, then return it when mine was fixed. I refused. They sent the heater back to me, claiming the cord had been replaced, but the cord had a small speck of paint on it from a household project, and it was clearly the same cord. I was dumbfounded that they would be so deceitful. I threw a fit, and sent it back. They sent me another heater about six weeks later, in May, in the middle of a heat wave. That heater has worked well, until last night, February in Ohio, when I noticed it was chilly in the room where I used it, and guess what? It's blowing cold air again.

I have a number of relatives who have used these heaters for years, without incident. This is ridiculous, and based on the number of other similar incidents I see posted here, it seems that the company should be investigated.

We purchased an Eden Pure Gen on Oct. 4, 2010. It worked fine for the winter. We tried to use it this winter and it only blew cold air. After troubleshooting with the customer service rep, it started to work again then stopped. We paid for shipping, returned it, and received a refurbished that seemed to work fine. We used it a couple of days and then we're out of town for the whole month of Dec.

Upon returning home in January, our heater would only blow cold air. This time the company paid for the shipping and we just got it back today. It worked for a total of 45 minutes. What a rip off. The ceramic heaters we bought at Wal-Mart did a better job and are still working for a fraction of the cost. I feel terrible that I recommended the heater to my in-laws and they purchased one as well. The Eden Pure is junk! I would join in a class action suit.

I purchased EdenPURE GEN4 in Jan. 2011 and did not receive unit until the end of Feb. 2011. I used the heater for a very few hours, maybe 10 hours, until the spring weather and it was not needed. I brought heater out to use this winter season. I used it for maybe 5 hours and the unit stopped glowing or putting out any heat, although the blower was still working. I did not have my paperwork or owner's manual handy, so I took cover off the unit to find that all 3 Sylvania bulbs were shot, they looked like they were full of powder and sand and had black scorch marks on them, obviously blown!

Then I discovered that because I had tried to "fix" the unit myself it had voided the warranty! So I proceeded to try to find replacement bulbs, only to find they are nearly impossible to find and very expensive if you do find them, $ 104.00 for 3 bulbs. I have not received the replacement bulbs yet, but if this does not fix the problem, the heater will be returned to Eden Pure/ Biotech Research in pieces, very small pieces. I am so disgusted and annoyed at the attitude of all of the "customer service" employees. I was talked to like someone with a brain injury or learning disability.

I had no idea that an attempt to change a light bulb could make a person mentally incompetent! I would discourage any and everyone from dealing with this company! What a total waste of money and time, and aggravation!

I am irate that a company would be able to sell a bad product like this. They do false advertising, which includes "made in the USA", and "lowers your heating bills". This is a crime, I thought. I purchased a Gen4 model last November 2010, and used it only in the winter months, and noticed my electric bill sky rocket, and really never heated the room completely. Then when I brought it out this winter 2011/2012, I turned it on, and heard a loud pop, and the machine stopped working. I called Edenpure, and I had to pay to return it to them, only to get a refurbished one back. When I turned this one on, it lasted only 2 minutes, and shut itself off, and would not come back on.

When I called the company back, they gave me all the resetting options, and none of them worked. When I talked to the customer service girl, she told me she would put me through to talk with a special department that handles return labels, and I sat on hold for at least half an hour. Before I hung up, and called back, only to get put back on hold. I called back again, and the girl told me she would put my phone number on a list to call back that evening, and never heard from them. I called back again the next morning, and they told me it could take 24 hours to hear anything back from that department. So, I have still not heard from anyone, regarding this matter. I keep getting the runaround from them, and it is always someone else. I need to talk with. I would not buy this product, and I feel very victimized, angry, and mislead. I would love to get in on a class action lawsuit, if one begins.

We purchased two of these over priced heater during a 2 or 3 year span. The Model 500 was purchased around 2006. While they work I have never been pleased with them. I didn't see the gas savings and the electric bill went up. We only use them a few months out of the year. I plugged them both up and they worked for a short time.

The larger one started making a lot of noise. Beat on it a couple of times and it quit for a few minutes. Then it started back in fury. I was afraid to leave it on for fear it would overheat and start a fire. Opened it up and thought it might have been the small fan on top hitting something or the bearing going out. It wasn't that fan. It's some fan inside, the heating unit itself which you cannot see. With most of the support sides removed, I turned it on and the noise was no longer heard. Ran it like this for a couple of days with no more noise. I then put it back together and is running quietly.

But the quality of the insides are a rip-off for the price. All of the mounting plates, which are basically the whole unit, are made of a cheap sheet metal with metal screws. There couldn't have been over $30-$40 worth of metal. With it made in Asia, the cost for assembly is almost nothing. No way would I have purchased this heater if I had known the quality of how it is put together.

My wife called Edenpure about the small unit. They basically said tough luck. They said they don't do repairs, gave the name of a company that does in TN which is not worth the drive and would not give a trade-in value towards a new heater. So much for backing up their product! Just a few days ago I opened the small one (Model 500). It took me a while to figure out the problem as I did continuity tests on every wire connection, switch, thermostat and the fan on top. Fan didn't have continuity on one lead but when I tested the fan directly with a 120 connection it worked fine. So I dug a little deeper on the continuity checking of the heater "core" itself. This is where the heating "tubes/elements" are located. One of them was bad and it was the one that help complete the circuit to the fan.

I pulled out the heater tube. There is nothing quartz heat about it! It is just a glass tube with a tungsten wire running through it! The ceramic ends are cheap and the wires coming out of each end of all of the tubes was of poor quality at best. All of the wires moved freely. This is pure deceit by Edenpure. There is no quartz heating elements. I contacted Edenpure myself via their website using email. They never responded back to me which has been at least 3 days. Their website has a drop down menu for parts, manuals, etc. for each model. But when you select one of them you get a screen wanting to sell you new heaters. Now, I guess to them parts are equal to new heater.

Now, knowing what I now know about these 2 heaters from the facts above I feel that I have been victimized by pure deceitful and untrue advertising. Edenpure should be required to stop advertising their products and put out of business. They are making huge profits off each heater. No wonder they can afford these large full page adds in newspapers. Don't buy one. While it may work forever these units are not made as described and you will not save on your energy bill. You are getting old technology described as state of the art. When you think about it, these heater tubes are nothing more than light bulbs which contain heavy duty coils that work like an electric range. For the price of these two heaters I could have purchased probably several dozen ceramic heaters.

I have had my EdenPure Gen 4 for two years. I assume the heating element is out. I don't know for sure. The company has no record of my purchase (I purchased online), so "no warranty". Also, the nearest repair place is 61 miles away. I can fix myself if I pay a minimum of $51 for the 3 heating elements it will take to fix it (maybe). I paid $397 plus tax and shipping for a piece of ** that ran for less than 2 years. It will be a cold day before I purchase an EdenPure anything again.

I purchased the model 500 in July 2010. Couldn't run it all the time because I couldn't afford the electric bills. I tried to operate the unit again this winter and it worked for two weeks and just quit. Called EdenPURE and got the old run around of unplugging it for 45 minutes. Guess what, it still don't operate. It's a piece of **!

I have never felt so deceived in my life, of all people, "Bob ***" and "Al ***" and Tim, the Tool Man Taylor's assistant. We see these people as honest, salt of the the earth people helping others. I am very saddened by all of this. 90 days into having the heater, it quit blowing heat. I tried everything, was advised of what to do, and still nothing. After reading the never-ending list of robberies committed and valuable time taken from our lives, I forgot to read the fine print - I purchased a "Life Lesson", not a Heater. I know those guys, I saw them with my own eyes, only they weren't open!

Reviewed the complaints online after experiencing problems with our Gen 3 Heater. By the sound of what I was reading, it won't make any difference if I contact the company for help. Nevertheless, I will attempt to see if they will do anything for me. The heater has stopped heating the area that it used to heat and has become very noisy. I agree with the person that mentions a class-action lawsuit against the company if this is feasible in the future.

We bought the Edenpure 3 years ago. It just stopped working. I called Biotech and Edenpure, they said my warranty just expired and refused to help - by 4 days! Customer service is so rude. Do not buy this product!

My electric bill doubled and this is not saving us money at all. I got higher bills. There's no savings in gas or electric. Please save your money.

Over the past year, the unit was used less than 3 months and it stopped heating. They are telling me they will send a refurbished unit but not a new unit. I think this unit is refurbished. I took over 2 months to receive this unit.

We purchased our Edenpure for $390 two years ago and only used it in a small bonus room on the weekends during the months of December through early February. This year, it stopped producing heat.

Overall experience is zero! Do not buy this product! I purchased the EdenPURE Gen4 model supposedly made in USA but not! It is Chinese made! I paid over $400 for this unit and it only lasted maybe one winter season then it was already out of warranty. It stopped heating but the fan was still going so I tried this reset procedure but still nothing. Luckily, this piece of junk didn't burn my condo unit and the building down! The so-called Quartz heater lamps had all exploded and broken into pieces inside the box. When I picked it up to place on a bench to see if there was something fixable, I could hear broken glass sliding around the bottom of the unit. Being a trained electrician and electronics service person, I opened the cabinet to determine what had happened.

I was well aware of my warranty expectations. The box was designed not to be opened or serviceable with hidden tabs and fasteners but being familiar with these sorts of techniques, I was able to open the cabinet without breaking it. Inside, I found a cheaply manufactured sheet metal box with cheap Chinese circuit board, made in China markings and marginal at best fabrication techniques! This box couldn't possibly have cost more than $50 to make! From a personal perspective, I felt pretty angry. I had fallen for the Bob Villa made in USA lie and that my expectations of this expensive box of junk in front of me was claiming energy savings and efficiency and has been nothing more than another corporate scam!

All three lamps had melted and broken apart inside the three copper shrouds. It is only luck that this device didn't burn and melt in my house. For that I am thankful. This had been plugged in and running off and on in the automatic mode while I slept. When I woke up, I noticed that the room was cold and the fan was running but only blowing out cold air. For whatever reason, the heating lamps did not short or caused damage beyond the broken chards of ceramic contained within the sheet metal heat chamber.

As soon as I was able to disassemble the unit to get to the broken pieces, I realized two things one was this design wasn't made to allow for removal and replacement of these bulbs and two, it looked like these weren't quartz lamps even though they were glass tubes with really just tungsten coil elements inside. These were made by Sylvania manufactured in Mexico by the way. The glass epoxy holding the ceramic end sockets had completely broken into chunks and the tungsten windings inside the glass had burned out open just like a light bulb would do.

The entire lamp assemblies fell apart in my hands. This would explain why they require you to send these back and they don't repair them but they will send you another one. They are not designed in any way to replace a burnt out lamp. These would never last very long anyway. I believe I saw a specification of 20,000 hours which would be at best 800 days at 24 hour a day of use. Mine certainly didn't last that long!

I bought 2 Edenpure Gen4 heaters with ship date of 09/15/2011. Since it has been a mild fall/winter, I did not turn on the heater until mid November. I received the electricity bill for Nov. 20-Dec. 20. I used 1897 KWhr at $253.00. The temperature never really made it below 25 during the whole month. Last year, the electricity usage was 689 kWhr at $114.00. The total area heated is 1,200 sq. ft. with 8' ceilings. The product is rated at 1,000 sq. ft. each so 2 should be more than enough.

At $397 each and a soaring electricity bill, this is a terrible investment, as the home felt no warmer than using our furnace which is 40 plus years old with an energy efficiency of less than 50%. The product is supposed to cycle on/off when it reaches a desired temp but rather constantly runs. There are several false/inflated statements on the Edenpure's website. Please do not buy this product. Put the money towards making your home more energy efficient through insulating, caulking, windows, and upgrading your main heat source.

It makes my electric meter run as fast as my furnace. I can't see the savings!

This company is the biggest scam rip-offs I've ever dealt with. My mother ordered one of their over-priced heaters and I found out about it. She cancelled the order and I confirmed the cancellation. Then, they shipped the heater the following day, anyway! The merchant says we cancelled the order and then ordered another heater on the following day! They are refusing to refund $70 plus shipping! They say that they have a recorded conversation of the order but won't play it for our credit card representative! Hopefully, the credit card company sees through their lies and issues the credit to my mother's account. Do not buy an EdenPure heater from BioTech Research! Their name is crap and their products are craps! Read the complaints!

I am very unhappy with Edenpure and I haven't even received the heater yet. I ordered the Edenpure heater on December 6th via internet at edenpure.com. It is now December 21st and still hasn't recieved it. I called MasterCard and they gave me the name of Biotech with their customer service #1-800-895-0008. Since that first call two days ago, I have received the total run around with them giving me different numbers to call (Edenpure, biotech and even Affordable Heat). Today, I finally spoke with a supervisor (Mary) who said she would make sure the order was cancelled if it ever showed up. Wow, my suggestion, don't order on-line.

I bought an EdenPure heater a couple of years ago because of the cost saving claims. I used it for one month and liked it more or less, but my electric bill (never more than $50/month) jumped to $250.00. That's twice as much as I have ever paid for electricity and gas combined in the 20 years I have lived here. I bought the heater to save money, but am out about $500.

My brother-in-law and I both bought the Edenpure electric heater. They both started making a loud noise. Out of warranty, they offered to send a blower for $40.00. They need a cage around them so they don't overheat. Their customer service is rude. They won't repair.

We had purchased a Gen3 Model 500 Edenpure heater in Sept 2008. Our warranty ran out Sept 2011. Our heater when turned on Oct. 15, 2011 would not work. I called Biotech at the phone number listed on my booklet that came with the heater, 1-800-xxx-xxxx. A person named Tanya answered but could give me no info on my purchased date except that we had purchased one. I ask for a shipping label but she said they did not supply them. She said to send it to the address on the booklet. Since we live on the Canadian border and no UPS around, we sent the heater to them via priority mail at a cost of $40. We mailed it on Oct. 31, 2011 and as of Dec. 1st had heard nothing from them. I sent email to their customer service department and they could not find the heater. The post office receipt shows that someone signed for it at their facility on Nov 4th. After several tries, I finally got someone to check on the heater and they told me that the address on the booklet was the wrong address (different zip code) and since the heater was out of warranty, they destroyed it.

No one ever contacted us or attempted to return it to us. They just destroyed it. They told me today that since the old heater needed repairs, they could not send me a new one. I was told that they could send me a malfunctioning heater and then I could send that one back for repairs at a cost of $198 even if it might just be a $2 switch and I am out the $40 we paid to send them the first one. I had the old heater for three years, used it very little in my studio where I go to paint sometimes for a few hours twice a week and it just stopped working. I don't think the heater is worth the $198 needed to repair someone else's old broken heater. Edenpure is a real rip off and customer service people really must have trouble sleeping at night. I will not spend money for another Edenpure heater after reading all the customer complaints about them. At least mine had not gotten to the point of bursting into flames. I wanted to write a letter to the President or chairman or whoever is in charge of the company but they are well hidden from public view.

The Eden Pure heater was set on medium. I smelled burning, then saw smoke and then saw four inch flames burning from the unit's heavy cord. I yanked the cord out of the wall, and it broke into two. Customer service have many phone numbers, and sarcastic.

I wouldn't even give it a star! But I had to post this. I received GEN 4, 1000 square feet heater (Made in USA). I plugged in and it started heating. I got a 200 square feet room to 67 degrees; all other rooms were ice cold. I wasn't' satisfied; but to make it worse, after 6 hours of use it started blowing cold air. I tried resetting it by unplugging and waiting 45 minutes per customer service three times; it still just blew cold air.

Absolute garbage. I immediately called to have a refund as so many other people who have purchased these units have been told they had to pay $50 shipping due to time had passed for refund. Supposedly in ten days I will received a slip for free shipping. I'm hoping I will get my money back. America should better wake up and start building good products or we will soon be the United States of China.

We purchased the Eden Pure Signature Series because it included extra features. We have had it for only about 30 days; it's not keeping our house warm at all! It barely keeps one room warm then, when we go to a different room. we have to roll it into that room. What a hassle. Then, I called the company who told me it would cost me to ship it back and a 15% restocking fee (they count the days since you purchase the unit, not when you receive it). If it takes 10 days to get it to you, you are then down to 20 days to use it (not even enough time to get a heating bill to see if it's worth it). I am so angry I could spit.

Don't use this system unless you live in a very small space, like 600 square feet or less because it won't keep you warm. I specifically asked if it would carry heat to more than a room and was told yes, absolutely. What a waste of time and money and I have made calls to the manufacturer (1-866-786-8946) who told me it was up to each individual store as to their policy. I had contacted Edenpure US who didn't sell the signature series and they told me to call "affordable heat". Well who would consider the fact that they wouldn't have the same return policy? Affordable Heat is a rip off store who doesn't give you sufficient time to use the unit and figure out if it works for you. We were bamboozled!

I give zero stars for Bob Villa EdenPURE. The only reason I gave them one star is because this format requires it. It was horrible and I strongly feel that I have been ripped off. I received the Heater in February 2011 at the End of the Season. This December 2011 once it started getting cold, I turned on the heater and it only blows out cold air. No matter if I set it to High or Auto - it will only blow out cold air.

I called their Customer Support and I was Advised by their Customer Support to turn off the heater, and wait until the fan turns off, and then unplug the heater and wait for 45 minutes for the thermostat to supposedly "reset". I did this and it still only blows out cold air! I have asked for a refund but I was told that the

60-day guarantee has expired.

What kind of a company only offers a 60-day guarantee? And who will not give a refund for a non-working product? This is bad business at it's worst and this is the absolute worst product I have ever purchased in my entire life!

All of the advertising talked about heating a 1000 sq. ft. area, and that they were offering a $349 heater for $199. It also said it was safe to touch. When it arrived, it showed on the cover, that it was safe for pets, and showed it under a desk with a woman's knee up against it. When we opened it, it was a smaller model for 350 sq. ft., and the instructions said not to block the front or the rear, which says to me it shouldn't go under a desk. It also says not to touch, because it will be hot. All in all, I think we got taken.

I listened to the infomercial again this morning, and now they say, just send $39, and then later send four more payments, implying that those payments will also be $39. I called, and finally, after much insistence, was told the additional payments are $89. My biggest gripe is that, all the advertising is for the GEN 4, and then they sent us a "Personal" heater which is not anywhere near as good. They are great deceivers.

I received my Edenpure Gen 4 on March 3, 2011, believing I had purchased the best space heater made! It worked great through the end of that winter. About a week to 10 days ago, I got it out again and began using it for this winter. One day, it just quit working and would not re-start. I phoned in about it. They reminded to clean the filter, which I did. They then began telling me about the thermostat on the heater. To unplug the unit and not start it up again for 45 minutes to let the thermostat reset. It then began heating only about 10 minutes and then shutting off and would not start again until you unplugged it for 45 minutes. I phoned their customer service department three times. Finally, a woman told me how to make an exchange return. I have done that. But it cost $50 to ship it back Fed Ex with full insurance coverage.

As I got to thinking about this, I believe I may have used it about 60 days. And this was the result. I have invested an additional $50 in the unit and I will receive in return a refurbished one. It's supposed to be just like new. Sure, hope so! If I knew this before I bought, I would look around. A neighbor had two of the Amish heaters, but frankly, I didn't think they worked too well, either. That's why I bought Edenpure. And I did love it last winter but not this one! If you're thinking of buying, look around for something less costly that will do the same thing and not run up your electric bill That's my advice and what I would have done had I known this before I bought. I do not like their return policy now. After reading some of these complaints, I now see I'm really rather lucky.

I bought an Eden pure heater in October 2010. Since then, I have exchanged it 4 times for a new unit because the heater wouldn't last. I called the technical support to find out if there was a problem with the units, only to be asked if I was plugging it in to an extension cord. Since then, I have had the wiring checked in my house for polarity and am still having failing heaters. The last heater I plugged in only lasted about 3 months and now I'm starting to wonder just how reliable these heaters are.

In 2010, I bought a Gen 4 heater from BioTech Research Company. I used it for one season and it worked so well that my spouse ordered a Personal sized Eden pure heater in or about September of 2011.

We used the smaller, personal heater until the weather got colder, and then plugged in the Gen 4 model. It did not work well, i.e., the lamps did not work, the blower did not work and it put out very little heat. We contacted Eden Pure and they explained to us how to reset the heater. We tried this and it did no good. We shipped the heater back to them and in or about Nov. 1, 2011 got a "Refurbished Replacement" heater. It functioned worse than the one we had returned to them to have repaired. We had to pay nearly sixty dollars to ship this machine back. They sent us another refurbished heater which we received on November 21, 2011. It does not work either.

We contacted Eden Pure and asked to be able to return the Heater for a full refund and they refused to allow us to return the Heater and receive a full refund. The heaters do not work. I want to file a complaint that Eden Pure Products do not work and the company does not stand behind their product and when they ship replacement heaters, they are crap and do not work. I even went on a website that has multiple complaints of failure of these heaters. Some even talked of melting of the outer box and front plates of these machine. BioTech Research should not be allowed to sell these products if they not work, and if they can overheat to the point where they can melt and are a hazard to life.

I bought this heater with the hope it would keep my room warm and cut the cost of heating bill. I live on $927.55 per month. Investing in this heater was not an easy choice. But I had read the ad several times and felt it would be my answer. This heater does not even keep my tiny bathroom warm, let alone keep my bedroom warm. It just does not have the heating capacity that the ad had promised. I bought the heater before Oct. deadline. But unfortunately for me, I did not open it up until now. This heater is just not going to work for me. It puts out enough heat to heat my small closet. What can I do about returning it? I live on very little money, so I have to seek out the best way to use my money to heat during cold Vermont winter(s). Please let me know what I can do. I am not going to use this product that puts out no heat but does use the electricity. I am very sorry I didn't open it earlier. But I try to go as long as I can into the fall months before turning the heat on. Thank you very much for your consideration to my problem. I will await your reply. Happy Holidays!

I called to tell them our Eden Pure was not working. Gave them the serial# from the machine. They said the machine was under warranty and they sent a mailing sticker saying the machine would be replaced. I got a letter about a month later saying it was not under warranty after all and they sent it to the manufacturer. I was given a number to call which netted no human response after 5 calls of an average 20 min wait on hold. In the mean time, we had a family health emergency. Later, I called and finally got a voice. Their position is that they send all non warranty equipment back to manufacturer. I was not given back my machine. They stole the equipment from me and probably sold it to someone else after a refurbish. How can this company exist when it is so crooked?

We bought an Edenpure heater and used it minimally for 3 seasons, probably an average of 3 hours a week if even that. It no longer works and when I called the company, they told me I was on my own. We had purchased another one last year which I really regret buying now. I thought these would last 10-15 years as they propose. Yeah right! What a ripoff company and product. Do not buy this product!

I bought 3 heaters, 2 750 watt and one 1,500 watt. When they got to me, one never worked, one only worked on high and one only worked on the 4 highest settings. When I inquired, they wanted me to return them for replacement ones, return at my expense. Screw them, even replacement bulbs for them. Do not get to Rural Bush Alaska unbroken. They can take a flying leap at a rolling donut.

I purchased the EdenPURE Personal Heater on 12-21-2010. It worked for three months. It no longer works. I called customer service and they told me that I must ship it back to them at my expense and they will exchange it for a refurbished heater. I paid for a new heater, not a refurbished one. I do not intend to pay a hefty shipping fee only to receive another used heater that to my understanding (according to other consumers) will surely malfunction within weeks. I cannot understand why this company is still allowed to sell this defective product. Can't a class action lawsuit be filed against the manufacturer so that all the people (such as myself) can be recompensed for their loss? This company knows they are scamming the public and yet they are not being penalized. I paid $197.00 for a heater that I was only able to us from January 10, 2011 to April 1, 2011.

After two years of use of our Eden Pure heater and one year left on the warranty, we turned it on for the first time the other night. The whole front of the machine melted! So I called the company and my mother gave them the wrong information concerning the cleaning of the the filter because she hadn't asked us before she called, and because she said the wrong thing they will not uphold the warranty that is still in place! What a rip off of a company! I explained to them what exactly happened and they will not go by what I say because they will not accept another response, only the first one, even though she was mistaken in her response. This company should be ashamed at their customer service representatives and the rudeness that I encountered and I would not recommend this company to anyone out there at all!

EdenPURE 3705 will not work. I spent over two hours on the phone and got nowhere. Does it have a fuse? No one knows. Can it be fixed? Give me six numbers to call or I may as well trash your product with all the help I got. Thanks! Jim

We purchased an Enden Pure heater in December 2010. It came with no information. The heater has stopped working and we have tried in vain to return the unit. We have not received any contact or comments on what we can do to get our money back. Help!

I ordered the heater on a 90-day trial with money back guarantee. I gave them $29 before they shipped, and I should be paying $89 a month? I am nearing the 90-day trial period's end, and the heater has totally quit. I have no contact information other than the phone number advertised on TV. I did receive an email advising me that the heater had been shipped from Customer Service when ordered. I have sent three emails advising them that the heater has quit, and requesting an address to mail it back. That was about two weeks ago and I have heard nothing. Meanwhile, they are taking $89 a month payments out of my checking account. I will do a stop payment, but that only takes care of one month, and costs me $30. Some friends of mine had ordered one in the meantime, and have been waiting two months for the heater. I have advised them to cancel the order.

We purchased approximately 20 units of the EdenPURE Gen 3 heaters for our lodge units. All heaters have been replaced and most more than once. We have experienced a myriad of problems including melting fronts, blowing cold air, not heating, complete loss of power, excessive noise, and more.

Consequences include numerous guest complaints, multiple shipping charges, a large initial investment, labor costs associated with finding a unit with a working heater and placing it in a unit with a non-working heater, preparing units for shipping, transporting units for shipping and/or organizing pick-ups. Also, new alternative heating units must be purchased as we are running out of working EdenPURE units, and our warranty has been suspended on the original / replacement units.

I contacted several service reps to try to order parts or find info. After several attempts, I was hung up on every time. My bill went up instead down. The heater was expensive and quite working. I read other many complaints and in order to have it repaired, you have to send it to them and pay shipping both ways.

I purchased an Edenpure BioSpeed Clean UV Vacuum in December of 2009. I loved it until the black rotating part of the unit that fastens to the handle broke. My daughter tried to glue and screw it back, which I am told voids my warranty. I accept that, but I still need a replacement part and I have gotten a run around for the last month.

I was finally told that can't get it. I have bought several products of yours including 3 heaters. If I cannot get service, then I have bought my last item. All I want to do is buy the replacement part and I will find a way to change it. Otherwise, I will have to throw the vacuum away.

We are on our third one and it finally quit like the other two. It worked fine one season (only heats a small room). This year it worked for a month. We noticed it had quit one day, when we unplugged it and restarted, it beeps 3 times and nothing. I would just as soon have my money back instead of another one.

I bought an Edenpure in early 2008. I bought the one that should have heated around 1000 sq. feet. I had problems with it from the beginning. It did not heat the room like they advertised. In fact, in order to feel any heat, we had to sit right next to it and have the heat blow right on you.

I looked online to see what I could do to and saw that if you wanted to have it fixed, you have to send it back in the original box and you have to pay for shipping to and from. This last April the thing decided to quit working. It turns on; then about 1-2 minutes later, the blower or whatever turns off and doesn't come on again. However, the lights still are light. I am so disappointed in this product. What a waste of a lot of money. Don't buy this heater.

I purchased two model 500 EdenPure heaters and a SunTwin model. All these heaters stopped working within two seasons or less. The company offers to repair at my expense if the items are shipped in their original boxes and I pay the shipping. The heaters are unreliable and stop working without warning, so I don't wish to replace them with another heater I cannot trust. I paid over $1000 for heaters that can stop working at any time. Advertisements make the claim that these will pay for themselves with cost savings and efficiency which was not the case.

Got this in the mail and am wondering it its really any good. Bob Vila puts his name on it saying its a money saver for 2009.But it doesn't say how many watts of consumption. They have two models and they are as listed Gen3 Model,1000 "heats up to 1,000 sq. feet" and the other Gen3 Model 500 "heats up to 300 sq.feet. There advertised as a infrared portable heater.

I bought one of these heaters two years ago. The heater had a 60 day guarantee. We had it for a week or so and left one day when it was around 20 degrees outside. We left the heater on and was gone for a few hours and when we got back the heater had quit. We could not get the heater going again so we packed it up and sent it back at our expense.

They wanted to send us another one at our expense of all the shipping but fool me once shame on them, fool me twice shame on me. I requested my money back. I now use an oil filled heated that I bought for $39.00 with a small fan behind it when I need it. If it does quit I'm only out a few dollars and it works just as good as the EdenPURE did when it did work. No more "miracle" heaters for me.

This is our second Eden Pure Heater.

We had a 500 to begin with. It died and we sent it in. They informed us that it was too old a model and that they didn't have parts for it. Fine. We just received an advertisement for the Eden Pure 1000-XL. I ask if we could upgrade and the customer service said yes. I knew we would have to send in more money, but she said that the $65.00 that we had sent in for the old heater repair could be used for that. They didn't charge anymore for the new heater. We had the heater for about 2 years. We only used it in the winter time and early spring. We took it with us in our Motor Home, worked great. We took it this Fall in our Motor Home and it would try to work. It would come on, but immediately shut itself off. Couldn't get it to run. We were without a phone, so I purchased another electric heater and we used it.

After arriving at home, I called Birotech Research and stated that the new heater was not working. I spoke to Tanya and she said that I would need to send it in--during the conversation she said something regarding the fact that maybe the heater would not work because of the dust filter on the back. I said I always kept it clean and washed it and dried it before using. She said sometimes the filter would just mat together and cause the heater to stop working. Just take the filter off and leave it off. I said ok. I tried it without the filter and it has worked ever since. I called back and spoke to a Brenda and ask her why wasn't the customer informed that if the heater stopped working that it maybe the filter? She didn't have an answer for that. She told me you don't need the filter anyhow. So I stopped using the filter. If there is any dust or dirt sucked in there, you can't vaccum it out like she said. You can take a can of air and blow most of it out. Apparently there is something wrong with the filter and it can't be used for very long. She ask if I would like to have another filter sent to me and I said yes.

When I received the package from Biotech, it was no filter, it was another cover for the back that holds the filter on? I called and asked if they knew they had sent the wrong Item? I needed a new filter. I still do not have a filer. We had an old filter from our old furnace and it cut a piece to fit it. That is what I am using. Why didn't they send a new filter? What is wrong with this filter system? Not sure why customers were never informed that the filter is not good for any length of time. These heaters are not cheap. I just thought that the public needs to be aware of what this company has failed to tell us. Their important information just says that if you have a lot of dust in your house, use the filter, but you have to wash it all the time. Using the heater without the filter is a good idea because the filter does not work all the time. So if you don't want to wash it, just take it off, yet if you do need the filter and you do wash it too much, it mats together and the heater won't work at all? Now how crazy is this.

Bought a new Eden Pure air cleaner. 1 year 30 days later went out. Bought a refurbished one. Went out 2 weeks later. 3 more were not what I ordered. Lied to me. Bought a whole house. Sent one room cleaner. Claimed changed them. Lied again. Sent me another one. Most of the cleaners options did not work. Told me to send back. So tired by then did not send back. 7 months latter all of it falled to work at all. Sent back.

It will be a month and a week before I get another one. Still waiting. Not to mention when called teh hateful person [the women] there who continue to be nasty from the get go of conversation. I have never seen such actions of reps. There [the women] I will get names of these people so it can be embraced by all. I have lost count of air cleaners they have sent me, that don't work. Had to buy other air cleaners for home.

My husband and I purchased an EdenPURE Model 1000-XL heater on January 3, 2008. It worked fine for the first month or so, and then we noticed it would shut off and not restart. As we had mild weather, and then summer, we just put it aside. This fall, we were going to start it up again, and it wouldn't work right. We contacted the company, and they told us to ship it back to them for repair.

We did, and it came back to us. It still did not work. We contacted the company again, told them it still didn't work, and asked for a refund. The company rep was very rude and told us the warranty had expired. (even though they had just had it and repaired it under warranty, and it didn't work when it was returned to us.). We would like our money back.

I have been besotted with ads for the Eden Pure Heater. I first heard about it from George Noory on the late-night radio show Coast to Coast so I sent for the info. It sounded good and, of course, they had a special deal going if I bought it within 14 days of receiving the info--right away this type of pressure-sales strategy sets alarms off in my head. I remember the old adage never buy anything in haste and haste makes waste.

I decided to do some homework and a little research. I went to the local Home Depot to try and locate some similar heaters to the EP, didn't find many. I then looked up many Consumer Rating sites and found the EP to be the LOWEST rated. I then went to our reference librarian to find out more--essentially I would have to turn off my oil furnace to save ANY appreciable money and get a heater for every room I was using or move the heater everytime I moved from one room to the other.

Since it was either $300 or $500/heater I decided to buy some insulating clothes--underwear & coveralls--sleep under a Hibernator, that was bought 20 years ago & put NASA-developed foil material, that sells for pennies anywhere, under my bedsheet. I can turn my thermostat close to off in BELOW-zero weather and stay toasty.

The EdenPURE heater that I ordered arrived Feb. 9,2008. I used it for four days and I wasn't feeling well. Until I left the house for a few hours and returned I didn't realize it could be causing the problem. There was a smell in the house as though a cooking pan had overheated on the stove. The heater was turned off but was still plugged in. I was still thinking that it could be just the nasty new smell that some equipment has. Instead of dissipating the fumes got worse. By the morning of Feb. 14, I had a splitting headache and couldn't think straight.

There is something wrong with that machine. I don't know if I just got a defective one or if there are more. I called the company and reported it and requested a replacement. The more I think about it the more I worry that it could hurt someone badly and they wouldn't know what was doing it. The machine does produce a pleasant quality of heat and a person might not realize it was making them sick. Other than the fumes, it had three other problems; the thermostat doesn't work right, the fan doesn't turn off and on as it should, there is a heat blotch that showed up on both sides of the heater cabinet like something inside had overheated. The blotch felt greasy to the touch and the grease stunk like overheated metal.

Ordered the EdenPURE ($397.00) Used product for less than 60days-never worked as advertised. Tired many time to contact there Customer Service to return the item. They kept givin us the run around since 12/28/07. First they stated they would send a return shipping label (we never received), then they stated 1wk, waited, then we called back and they stated 2weeks, we waited, and still no shipping label. Now we are shipping the product with out a the return label and having to pay for our own shipping cost. The company is not repitable and they do not stand behind there product. And the product is made in China. pLEASE warn others about this product.
