Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I found out too late that in the very fine print if you accept the promotional offer, you are tied into 24-month contract that they make exceedingly difficult to cancel. I spoke with Ben ** and he is an astoundingly unprofessional person to deal with. If you try and cancel, they will try and force payment of cancellation fee. We thought we had prepaid 12 months of service, nothing more. Now I will have to spend time and money to fight this tool.

This company is only concerned with deceiving people into signing up for a contract that obligates them to do nothing and requires the customer to pay even if they are unable to monitor your alarm because they cannot fix a problem. I signed up for this company to save money, but quickly found out what they are really about when I had a problem. The folks that were so happy to help me when I was signing up did not return my calls and had a service department that was closed when I attempted to contact them. Even though they are providing a "life safety service" according to them.

When I investigated further, I found that their claim of having UL listed monitoring centers is completely false. Only their monitoring center in Washington is UL listed. All the other ones listed on their various websites are not. I also found out that they make it impossible to cancel your contract unless you agree, during a recorded phone conversation, that you agree to pay a $299.95 cancelation fee. Even if they are unable to resolve your service problem, their contract requires you to keep paying for services. The contract does not require them to do anything, including providing services to fix problems with their equipment.

When tried to reason with them, the president of the company, Mr. Ron **, refused to make any concessions and implied that I was lying about my attempts to contact their service department or their VP of customer service, Mr. Ben **. I went back and looked at their website in greater detail and found that it contained many small asterisks that are not noticeable if you are not paying attention. Of course these lead to all sorts of unethical disclaimers. Additionally, the only "order now for three free months" button works. The other order now button does not. When you choose the three months free button, you have unknowingly accepted a promotional rate which then locks you into a two year contract. Again this contract obligates them to do nothing. I have reported them to the Federal Trade Commission for false and misleading advertising and am trying to determine are in violation of any federal or state statues. Stay away from this company if you want your home or business to be safe.
