Jon of Sacramento, CA October 4, 2009 Purchased a XBox 360 about two years ago. I have always taken care of the system and just the other day, I got the dreaded "Red Ring of Death" on it. Nothing that I have done has resolved this. The only thing that can be done now is having to contact Microsoft and get a RMA. Then purchase a box and pay for shipping. And of course, I bought the system BRAND NEW but at Microsoft's option, they can send me back a REFURBISHED system. I DO NOT want a system that others have used!!!! Jared of Norfolk, VA October 2, 2009 When i bought the system it was 300 ive had to return it to them twice for repairs at over 100 a pop! it just happened again! their is no site online that i found where you can tell them directly about the piss poor product they put out. I was a hugh Xbox fan, but after this last time I will never buy the product again. the customer service was horrible on top of the system, I was on the phone for over a hour and got disconnected a few times, completely dissapointed!!! Chris of Murfreesboro, TN October 1, 2009 After my wife surprised me with my Xbox 360, within the year I encountered the 3 rings of death or whatever they call the error. I find it hard to believe - with the money she spent on the unit - that it isn't meant to last more than a year. My nephew told me that there was some sort of recall, but all I could find was a petition. As someone who works a labor job 60 hours per week, I don't have a lot of recreational options. I really feel that having my Xbox 360 to play enabled me to relieve some of the stress I experience from my job, so that I could relax and further enjoy the time I spend with my wife and little girl. Though I can imagine that Microsoft is so big they could care less about a guy like me, but I wish they would do the honorable thing and get these faulty units off the market and give people the true value of their 300 or 400 - especially in these economic times. Lauri of Lake Charles, LA September 30, 2009 My son was playing on XBOX Live when one of the persons he was playing with stated she was getting off and wouldn't be getting back on. When they asked her why, she stated because of suicide. They tried to talk her out of it giving her reasons such as she needed to think about her family, etc. and then she was gone (offline). He told me that he was concerned about this person and gave me her gamer tag. This is the only information he had about her. I called XBOX Live Support and after giving all kinds of information was connected to a 'Resolutions Specialist'. This 'specialist' informed me that there was nothing they could do and that if I was concerned about this person committing suicide, I would have to contact law enforcement and they would have to contact XBOX Live Support so they could be given a 'hotline' number to call. When asked why they just didn't give me the 'hotline' number to give to authorities or call authorities themselves with the information on the person making the threat (only Microsoft knows who this person is), she said their policy was only to give out the hotline to authorities. I told the person valuable time could be being wasted; that I had already been on hold for quite a long time to get through to speak to someone. She repeated several times that this is Microsoft's policy. I told her that as human beings, common sense would dictate that I be given the correct number to give to law enforcement, not one that would require for them to hold just to be routed through several people to be given yet another number. Unfortunately, Microsoft's policy is simply to hire people that can't think for themselves and are ill equipped to handle any type of crisis. For all the millions spent by consumers on Microsoft products, I am incredibly disappointed that they handled this possible emergency situation so poorly. I did contact local law authorities and gave them this person's gamer tag and the Technical Support hotline so they could 'get in line' and wait, along with all the others waiting on technical tips, to get their hotline number so they could call this 'hotline' and hopefully save a life. I hope and pray for the safety of this young girl, but know if all is well, Microsoft and their inability to think or act didn't do her any favors. Rick of Austin, TX September 30, 2009 I have an XBOX 360 which died from the famous three rings of death. I tried to have it repaired today by going through the website. I noticed it said my warranty was out of date and would have to pay 99 to repair. I called the number on the website to dispute the charge Speaking to Ford, his supervisor Frances and his Manager John I got the same scripted bs. I purchased a replacement unit a year ago and told him I effectively spent over 600.00 to have a unit. I cannot see why a company who makes billions on shoddy products is not held to account when it comes to repairing it's defective products. Bill Gates has become one of the world's richest people but sad to see it was done on the backs of the working class people like us who paid him for this. We have bought over 7 units in our family and all but the newest one have all broken down due to this problem. This appears to be a poor man's version of a ponzi scheme. We invest in Microsoft by purchasing it's products and when they fail in mass, we are sent to India for customer service to deal with people with made up names who are not allowed to disclose their real names, nor resolve issues. I was given three reasons it was my fault. I did not know what their policy was on the extended warranty. I should have known according to them. Two they said it could be normal wear and tear. My advice is dump Xbox 360 or prepare to keep getting this lousy treatment called Customer Service. Peter of Stamford, CT September 30, 2009 I purchased a XBOX 360 two years ago and have sent it back 3 times for the ring of death, the time i waste speaking to the support at microsoft is costing me money, i want a refund for my initial cost on the unit. it takes about 50 minutes each time i call to get a reference# so i can get the xbox 360 fixed plus i have to wait weeks for the supposed fixed unit. Terry of Hope Mills, NC September 28, 2009 My sons XBOX 360, which he got for Christmas 2007 is reading an error E74 and 1 ring of death. We purchased a repair kit it worked for 1 hour. We can't get it to work at all now. Microsoft just needs to recall the systems. Robert of Chesapeake, VA September 27, 2009 As soon as the Xbox 360 was out of warranty coverage it died with the very common Red Ring Of Death. We had it repaired and after working for about 3 weeks the dvd reader will no longer read any games. Of the 8 kids my son knows that play Xbox 360 6 have had the Red Ring of Death and 2 have had the dvd player failure. The 3% failure rate that Microsoft claims is false, from talking to co-workers and friends I can easily estimate that it is closer to 30% failure. Most of the people I know who have had their consoles fail have purchased another one and not fixed their broken one or dealt with sending it back. Teri of Huntsville, AL September 25, 2009 I tried to send in my console for repair. This was the second time I needed repair for the Xbox 360 console ( 3 flashing red lights) Online attempts failed and I called on 5 or 6 separate occasions. Agents continued to say "systems were down." They were reading from a script, and my issue was never resolved. I researched online and found a huge number of people who had been mistreated as well.I just wanted to report the incident so maybe it wouldn't happen to anyone else. Albert of East Windsor, CT September 21, 2009 I'm in my mid 40's and play 360 for alittle r&r, This F-bomb 360 and my prior standard F-bomb x-box always broke when a new one came out. not to mention wouldn't even play nascar 09 even after i purchased 3 of them. coincidence or not, i think not, i think that cheap sob plans this regardless to how much you play. i think Bill Gates & staff are a bunch of muniplative losers, and probably think morale vaues are something that can be purchased. Well Bill I,m not selling nor am i going to purchase anything you make anymore. As things break, which i'm sure they will, i'm switching to mac. Report Your Experience
