Polaroid TV

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Like most others, we purchase a 32" Polaroid from Walmart on Black Friday, I woke up this morning and (like everyone else) the TV has sound but no picture. It really sucks Polaroid won't stand behind their product.

This is so sad. Just like so many others, I also purchased a Polaroid (TLX-03210B) from Walmart (Canton,MI) on Black Friday (2008). This TV was used in the den (little man cave) for my three sons. Like most kids, they stay up late playing the game and watching TV usually falling asleep on the couch, floor or even balled up in the corner. I never had any problems with the TV. Then one day my son was watching TV and the screen went black. It had audio but no picture!

After reading many of the other complaints, I am elated that my screen only went black and didn't catch on fire! I remember many Saturdays leaving for work and having to put the batteries back in the smoke detector because one of the sons took them out while cooking himself a midnight snack and not wanting the alarm to go off and disturb my sleep, not to mention the many of nights I came downstairs to find everyone asleep and the TV still on. It's a shame that Polaroid would put families in harm's way for a couple of dollars and Walmart would sell the product for even less.

Was watching TV and the picture went black. The sound is perfect but just no picture. I am not happy about this. Why can't product last longer? We pay enough as it for them not to last. Being a single mother, I cannot afford to go out and buy a new TV for my kids. So thanks Polaroid for your not so wonderful product!

Well, I am a divorced mom working a low-income job and bought a Polaroid TV with DVD player that quit after almost a year. And they told me they don't make the parts anymore and I am just out of luck. I asked to speak to their boss, and she told me "This is it; no one else to speak to"! I think the service stunk, and I will never buy or recommend their product again.

In 06/08/2006, I bought from Walmart a new Polaroid (FLM-373B: 37"HD LCD TV with ATSC Tuner) for $1497.00 +121.63 tax or a total of $1618.63 . It gave us a beautiful picture and sound for almost three years. Then it started to have a very loud buzzing sound and would not turn on until it was turned off and on several times. I trying to get help from Walmart but they directed me to Polaroid from whom I never received any response. We finally had to get it repaired. So on 8/20/09 it went to a well established TV shop. The technician stated that a lot of this barnd of TV has been in his repair shop for the same problem. It cost us $213.01. As of today, 1/15/12 ,we are having the same problem again, but louder! We are not going to repair it again! Now we have to shop for a TV. We will never buy Polaroid brand. If there's a lawsuit, I want in.

I bought TV. Now it is smoking. I called Polaroid and they are not being responsible. I don't have the money to get it fixed.

Just like so many people, I was happy to get at nice Polaroid TV about a few years ago. It's nice price, and it's a very nice TV. I pay good money for it. I experience the same problem with my LCD Polaroid 32" screen. It is going black and is 2 years old. Today, I'm turning it on, and the screen just has some little of image for a few seconds; and then, it is all black. The sound is normal, but the screen is wrong.

For me, it looks like the company knew this kind of manufacturer issue, and they just avoid it, giving just a few years of life to the product. But the reality is the only ones who really waste money are we, the ones who pay. I feel like the Polaroid company just steal my money without any consequences.

I only had my TV for 2 years and it has no picture. It has sound. I called the company and they told me I had to pay to get it fixed.

This morning I was watching TV on my Polaroid and it started smoking. So I called Polaroid and they want me to pay for the parts. Yea, right! I will never use their product again!

I have the same issue as all the others. I purchased 32" Polaroid TV/DVD Combo in 2007. DVD stopped working within 6 months. Just last night, I had the white smoke/black screen experience.

The television started to smell of an electrical fire after 1 minute of switching it on. Fortunately, it was noticed straight away and switched off. Television is now inoperable due to fire hazard.

I purchased a 32 inch LED TV and it totally stopped working all of the sudden. I called Polaroid and they requested for me to take to a certain repairmen. The repairmen told me that he called Polaroid and they where not honoring their warranty. The repairmen also told me that it was an engineering defect and that he has received several of the same TVs with the same problem. I believe there are enough complaints issued to justify a class action lawsuit.

I bought my handicapped son a T V for his bedroom at his residence. It was mounted on the wall and ran only a few hours at night. It was purchased in Jan. of 2009 and about 2 months ago the screen went black. It has sound but no picture. I called Polaroid about this problem and they said they stopped making those TVs, so they could do nothing. After all the reviews, I have read all the consumers of these TVs should be compensated.

What a piece of crap! I received my 19" Polaroid TV w/DVD player for Valentine's Day 2009. I've never used the DVD player at all. TV worked fine until today when, like many others, the screen went black but the sound works. I called Customer Service (what a joke) and they informed me they no longer make the TV and they do not have parts. I still have the receipt. I had $329.00 for this and I would think it would last longer than 2 years & 10 months! I am so tired of this "throw away" society. Remember when things used to last 20-30 years?

I bought my daughter a Polaroid flat screen 22" TV, tlac02255100915643, for Christmas last year. Now, she can't even watch it because the picture is so messed up, blurry and faded. I can't get a hold of Polaroid either! I'm very disgusted. I can't afford to just run out and buy another one since Christmas just got over with for this year!

A year ago, I bought two Polaroid TVs with built-in DVD (32" for $800 and 19" for $250), the 19" has sound, but no picture and the 33" has a dark line down the center of the TV and the DVD player will not work at all. I bought them at Wal-Mart and they say after 30 days, I have to deal with Polaroid directly, but they were unresponsive until the warranty expired.

I bought my 42" Polaroid LCD HDTV Black Friday at Wal-Mart 3 years ago. From time to time, the picture would go black but we could hear sound. It would make weird cracking noises sometimes and now it won't turn on. The red light in the front just keeps flashing. I have no faith in Polaroid products anymore. I am very lucky that it didn't start a fire like others with complaints. Still, it should not be busted after 3 years!

I received my Polaroid 37" LCD HDTV in 2007. The power capacitors blew in 2011 just like many other unsatisfied owners. The TV is reduced to just a black screen and bad popping noises. I expected this TV to survive longer than 5yrs.

I purchased the TV in the spring of 2009. No problems up until a week ago when same as everyone else loss the picture. After learning this was an ongoing problem, I contacted Polaroid looking to find the name of the part. The guy said the manufacturer of the TV was sued and went out of business and Polaroid do not owe anybody anything. Have fun with your buddies from Kodak in the Chapter 11 line.

Model 02610C. Serial MR7E317200000479. I had a 19" flat screen 6 yrs old that went completely out. I was offered a 26", new, flat screen, HD. New for $225 including delivery. OK I purchased. It is not new, 2007 made in China, not HD. Second, I cannot locate a wall mount for this unit. Have tried several. They do not work holding this unit properly. My original 19" Polaroid fit properly on a mount we purchased in the store. Please advise on all of the above. Thank you.

We have a 42" flat screen DVD combo. No picture displays on the TV but the sound works. The TV has been unplugged for a few months, so I don't understand the issue. I read a thousand posts about the same thing and noticed Polaroid did nothing to fix the issue. So what I am doing as I type is filing a complaint to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) in attempts for Polaroid to fix this mess! Join me if you are fed up and out of almost a $1000.00. Had we known this, we would have bought Sony or Sharp or somebody!

We bought a 32 inch Polaroid at tax return time in 2011. Two days before the warranty went out, the screen started going black, still had sound. Called tiger direct where we ordered it and they told us to contact Polaroid, and so i did. After waiting 2 weeks to get a call back from them, I called them back. They told me I had to deal with Tiger direct on the issue. So, I basically just got screwed around until it was too late to do anything about it. No one in my area does TV repairs. Won't be buying Polaroid in the future that's for sure! If there is a law suit I want it on it!

6 Months after I bought my 32 inches with DVD, the DVD quit working. Then after a year, the LCD quit. I will never buy Polaroid again.

I purchased a 32 inch Polaroid HD TV DVD combo flat screen for my 24 yr old son (an electrician), as a Christmas gift this year, from Shoppers Drug Mart. After ensuring all connections were accurate and that only DVDs tried were those listed in the manual and met the components listed, upon accurate setup we found the DVD player did not work! So disappointed!

We contacted Shoppers Drug Mart immediately after we learned the DVD component of this almost $300 TV did not work from get go. We learned they no longer have any of these TVs and would not be getting these TV's again. We were instructed to contact the manufacturer! It's not as easy as one may think! We have not yet been able to get anywhere with the manufacturer, and are waiting to see if they will send a new replacement TV. If not, our only option left is to return the TV to Shoppers Drug Mart, who will then give us a gift card for Shoppers for the amount paid for the TV!

This gift card would be useless for our son, and it would also mean he is out a TV! Nothing is more frustrating than giving a high ticket item as a Christmas gift, only to find out it does not work, and that we must jump through hoops to get a sufficiently appropriate result! And even if the manufacturer is willing to replace the TV, it means packing up the new one we just bought, shipping it to them and only once they have received it, and verified the DVD component is not working, will they maybe send a replacement, leaving our son without a TV!

We are so frustrated and angry a brand new product doesn't work, and we are unable to give our son the gift we chose to give him! Polaroid needs to be accountable here, and they are not!

Last night my son and I were watching TV. Then all of a sudden, the screen started going white, and also a hissed sound. So I told my son to turn it off, that it was late and that we should go to sleep. The next day, I totally forgot about the whole thing. Then we were going to watch TV and the screen was still white but with sound so I started looking on how I can fix my TV because I paid close to $700. I bought it at Walmart with warranty but the warranty already expired. I did have it fixed once because the DVD wasn't working and it also has a white spot on top of the screen.

So that got fixed and now I have this problem. I disconnected the TV because of all the things I read here and I don't want my house to be caught on fire. I think that Polaroid should recall all the TVs with this problem and give us our money back, because this should not be happening to all the people that bought Polaroid TVs. I think a TV should last longer than 3 years. If there is a lawsuit, please count me in.

Our 32" Polaroid TV/DVD combo was purchased for our son. Although, we are a family of just three, we purchased our third TV so he could have one in his room. Until today, I did not realize what could have been a terrible error on my part. We experienced the same reaction on our TV this week. The TV is popping, sizzling, smoking and hot to the touch. I'm thankful we were awake and aware.

I bought a 15-inch Polaroid from Walmart around February 2009. In 2011, it just went black and all it had was sound. The warranty and two-year Walmart extended warranty had just run out. I now have to buy a new TV for him. After reading the tons of reviews, this is a regular occurrence with this company! There is no fixing the TV. I will never buy anything from Polaroid again. I will also for go any electronic purchases from Walmart. I bought this TV for myself years ago. It went out then. I must have missed the "lemon" menu!

I bought a 40-inch LCD flat screen television from Wal-Mart right after we got the special tax rebate from President Bush (2008). After using it for around a year, which just used up the warranty, I restarted my computer, as I had just did updates, and the TV never came back on again. Only the power light comes on. What a piece of junk.

I purchased the Polaroid combination DVD/card reader model TDX-02610B at the Walmart Black Friday sale in 2009. Like others posted, the DVD and card reader ceased working within the first 6 months. When I contacted the manufacturer, I could not negotiate the cost and packaging of the shipping requirements, so I passed on sending it for repair. I had a CD in the component that would not eject which was the initial indicator of the malfunction. Months later, while watching the set, the CD ejected on its own almost sending me to an express visit to the lavatory! Periodically now, the CD compartment will awaken with a noise as though a CD is enclosed and run until the set is powered off.

I have a 42 inch Polaroid TV at 800 dollars. The sound is poor and I heard a crackling noise. Now, I got an 8 inch LCD black line going across the middle of the screen. What is going on with your new TVs? I am not the only one with this problem. If I have to, I will go to the BBB to see if they can fix this problem about sticking people with no good TVs. I will put my problems in the newspaper, on twitter and Facebook if this isn't fixed. You need to stand behind your stuff. I don't know what else to do to get you all to see what you are selling to people.

I bought my 32" Polaroid TV at Black Friday 2008 at Wal-Mart and shortly after a year, you could see some weird looking black globs going around the screen. It was never really a big problem as much as a nuisance until Christmas morning this year! I hear a loud pop and my screen goes black! I still have sound though! This shouldn't have happened after 3 years and 500 dollars! I'm so upset! I just used all my extra cash for Christmas! Now my kids are stuck with a new X-Box Kinect and a new Wii that they can't use until I find enough money to go buy a new TV. Thanks a lot Polaroid!

I purchased my polaroid TV a little over 4 years ago. Early this morning, I woke up to a very strong smell of smoke in my room. I panicked because I did not know if my house was on fire or what. After frantically running through the entire house, I noticed that the smell was centralized in my room. I soon noticed the smell was coming from the TV. Well, I turned my TV on and it admitted a dark cloudy picture for about 2 seconds and then went completely dark. I am furious! I have no clue what is wrong with my TV but I am furious just pondering the thought that this TV could have caught my house on fire while I was sleeping!

I purchased a Polaroid Television/DVD Combo unit, model TDA03211C in 2008. After rarely using the DVD unit, it will no longer work. The DVD will not load.

Just like many others, I bought a 42" Polaroid TV on Black Friday in 2008. About 8 months later, the TV went black, but had sound, so I unplugged it and waited a day. I called Wal-Mart. They told me that this was new, and that they haven't heard of this problem. I tried to call Polaroid, and never heard from them. I called Wal-Mart back, and nothing, until now. I was told about this blog. I hope something will be done now. Let's sue Polaroid and Wal-Mart.

I was watching the TV a few mornings ago, and it made a hissing / popping sound and went black. I tried turning it off then back on, and all I get is a black screen and no sound. I bought this TV on Black Friday a couple of years ago and had saved for close to two years to get a good television (what I thought it would be), as the one I had before was close to 20 years old.

I am a single-income household and don't have an extra $450.00 every couple of years to buy a new television. I have tried contacting Polaroid, and all I get is a list of repair people who want to charge me online to just give advice. Advice is not what I need. What I need is to have my TV replaced with one that is going to last more than a couple of years and not have to worry about it starting my home on fire. I hope there is some legal action that can be taken by all who are suffering because of these faulty TVs the company won't stand behind.

I was considering purchasing a 32" Polaroid TV/DVD this weekend on special at Shoppers Drug Mart for $198.00. I decided to look up reviews prior to purchasing. Due to all the poor experiences, I will not be making this purchase. Thanks!

Our 32" Polaroid TV made a popping sound last night and then began to smoke. We unplugged it and I called Polaroid. The only thing they offered was a $150 part to fix the TV. The TV only cost $188.

I purchased my Polaroid TV/DVD combo from HSN less than a year ago. The same has happened to me as to other Polaroid purchasers, no DVD is playing. The TV is still working but when will that go out? My combo Polaroid is a 32" HD LCD TV and DVD Combo, ****. I have ordered another Polaroid remote but am wondering if that is going to help as I read these complaints. Friends had suggested getting 2 separate units, one for TV and one for DVD but I saw an ad on HSN for this Polaroid TV/DVD combo. Polaroid used to be a reputable company, at least for cameras, but maybe not for TV/DVD combos. I am totally ticked off in Tampa, FL and I will not purchase any Polaroid products. I will be posting this on my Facebook and YouTube.

I purchased 2 32" Polaroid LCD TVs from Wal-Mart on Black Friday 2007. I paid close to $500.00 for each of them. I really had no problem with them until today, when one of them suddenly made a popping sound, and the screen went black. I am not happy! After doing some research, I found that there is a class action suit. I found the names of some lawyers in the suit that are representing the plaintiffs. I am going to contact them to see what is going on with the lawsuit. Something needs to be done. Polaroid was well aware of the defects of these TVs, yet they still sold them. Some have even caught on fire. A TV should last more than 4 years. After reading all the complaints here, I am sure my second TV will also inevitably die soon too.

I was watching TV this morning when my flat screen went blank and white smoke start pouring from the top and back of the system. I immediately jump up to turn it off and unplug it. I removed all connections and isolated the TV, checked for fire and it was extremely hot to touch. I feel I was lucky to have been home watching when this happened because it would have caused a fire. The TV was purchased at WalMart in 2008 and like so many others at the Black Friday sale. I am wondering if this was a known problem since it appears that everyone with it is experiencing the same thing at the same time. Is there recourse for replacement, repair, or reimbursement? These TVs were not cheap in price. Prior to this major issue, I would have given my rating of 4 stars.

Polaroid tv-32" w/ DVD player bought on black Friday a couple of years ago at Walmart. I was home one night while watching my grandson I heard a crackling and hissing sound coming from the TV. The TV was burning had I not been there to stop the fire. I might have lost my home or someone could have died. Maybe I should get a lawyer if the company does not want to do anything.

Unfortunately, I am reporting that I had similar issues with my 32-inch Polaroid TV/DVD combo. I purchased to flat screen unit in 2008 and have had mounted on the wall ever since. The DVD player stopped working in early 2009, which we have begrudgingly lived with.

Last night, we had the puff of smoke, then a black screen with only audio. When we invested in this television, we expected that we would have it for more than 3 years. We have not abused this unit in any way and expect Polaroid to compensate us for selling a defective product. Clearly this is not an isolated incident.

In fact, with these problems reoccurring so often, and to so many people, I believe this to be a deliberate action undertaken by the Polaroid company to sell defective merchandise.

My story is the same as all the other posts. We were watching the TV and all of a sudden, it turned off. It was turned back on and all we got was a black screen with sound. This TV was purchased on Black Friday 2008 and was not used until Dec. 26, 2008. Within 3 months, we sent it back to Polaroid for losing the picture and 3 months later, we sent it back in for the same thing. So all has been great until Sunday night when we were watching the football game. I''m very unhappy with this product and the time of year it has chosen to go "black". I suppose we got a black TV for Black Friday. So what are we all to do? This one is not the DVD model.

I bought our 32-inch TV from Walmart in 2007. Within the 1st year, the DVD player went out. I replaced it with another one which also had a broken connector on it, but we did not use that portion of the replacement. Now last night, the TV went out, no picture, but it has sound. I truly think we should be compensated for our loss, like many others right here. At Christmastime, we are not in a position to just go out and buy another one.

We purchased a Polaroid LCD TV/DVD combo model TDA-03211C in December 2008. Approximately 4-5 months after purchasing the TV, the DVD player quit working. We Didn't worry about that too much because we had other ways to watch DVDs through the TV. Then last week, the TV popped, began to smoke, and lost video. The audio still works fabulously, just no picture. When we turn it off and unplug it for a little while and turn it back on, it flashes a very faded screen and then the input, also faded, pops up in the top right hand corner and then goes black. I would truly expect to get more than 3 years out of an 800-dollar television. For this to happen so close to Christmas unexpectedly is disheartening.

I purchased a 32 inch DVD/TV combo flat screen from Walmart in April 2008. First, the DVD player went out and now the TV screen is black with sound only. I am reluctant to get this TV repaired as I have discovered that I am among so many others with this same problem. I and many others, would like to be compensated. I feel that I have been ripped off by Polaroid.

I bought 2 Polaroid 42" LCD TVs from Wal-Mart on black Friday 2008. The first TV stopped working in April 2010. The second TV stopped working in May 2011. I've contacted Polaroid regarding this only to be told "Out of warranty, not our problem". I've contacted Wal-Mart and received no help with this situation either.

I bought these TVs from Wal-Mart specifically because I thought that I could count on the store to provide a good quality product and count on their formerly stellar customer service and returns if there were any problems. I will not be shopping at Wal-Mart, and will not be purchasing any Polaroid product until this is made right. These TVs were expensive and should have lasted far, far longer than they did.

I just had my Polaroid 32" (03210B) die on December 5, 2011. When turned on, it popped, lost picture and sound remained. No picture can be recovered after unplugging, rebooting and multiple attempts of checking power source. This was purchased from Wal-Mart a few years ago on Black Friday, just like so many other consumers are speaking of. This electronic item purchased should have more of a life span.

Joining a class action suit to attempt recovery would be welcomed and warranted. The faith placed in a Polaroid product and the choice to spend hard earned money on it has been betrayed. This set has been in a person's household without excessive use or any abuse.

I bought a 35-inch Polaroid HD TV in 2007. The master board went bad very soon after purchase, including burning smell, and no picture, only sound. The warranty repaired it in 12/11. It was the same deal, only now with no warranty. Polaroid is more like hemorrhoid.

I purchased a Polaroid TV/DVD combo in 2008, model# tdx-03211c, 32inch. Approximately a few months later, the DVD player failed, also as of recently, my TV malfunctioned, as others have noted description wise, it made a popping noise, followed by smoke appearing out of the top and back side. My TV now displays only a black screen with sound, and this all took place while I was watching. I was scared the TV was about to catch fire. I'm totally upset with Polaroid, and feel ripped off, and hope something can be done to fix these multiple complaints against this company. It's ridiculous! Please contact me, and let me know when the class suit begins, and how can I follow up at **.

I can't afford another TV. I paid a good amount, and expected a good product in return, that should last. I would like for Polaroid to honor products, and stand behind their quality, replace, or refund.

In 2008, we got a Polaroid HDTV model tda-03211c. We paid $800.00 for it. Six months after we got it, the DVD player went out. But I didn't worry about that too much. Then in 2010, the picture went out. From what I've seen on the internet, there are a lot of people with the same TV and same problems. I'm lucky there wasn't a fire with it. I think I should get my money back for this TV or some of it.

I am here to add my name to the multitudes of dissatisfied customers owning the Polaroid LCD/DVD combo! Just as everyone else, the DVD lasted less than 6 months and here I am 2 years later with an $800 paperweight. It has no picture, but does have sound. Popping, sizzling and smoking. I am afraid to plug in the TV for risk of burning down my house. Please add my name to to the list willing to join a class action suit. I feel that I've been had by Polaroid just as everyone else posting here.

I purchased from Walmart a Polaroid TV/DVD COMBO Model #TDA03211C which was manufactured in Nov. 2007. Within 9 months, the DVD player stopped working. Last night,12/03/11, I was watching TV when we heard a popping and sizzling noise, followed by loss of picture and white smoke coming out of the top. Also, the TV was hot to touch.

The same as all the other complaints. My TV only lasted 3 years. It started making a popping sound and the picture went black. It's very disappointing for Polaroid.

My 42-inch LCD Polaroid TV has had a black spot on the screen for two years. Of course this was a week after the warranty ran out. Polaroid told me to email them a picture of it. It's impossible to do because I always get glare. I paid $800 for this TV from Wal-Mart and I will never buy a Polaroid product again.

I purchased the 32" Polaroid LCD TV from Wal-Mart in November 2007. Tonight, we were watching TV and there was a popping sound, then the screen went black and smoke started pouring out of the top of the TV. This is the same issue that several other people have complained about. This TV is only 4 years old and has been well cared for.

I also bought the Polaroid #TLX03210B at Wal-Mart in November of 2007. Tonight I turned the TV on and had sound but no picture and also a buzzing noise. I have unplugged it in fear of fire. I was searching online to see if I could find out the problem when I found all these posts with pretty much identical issue. Definitely seems like a manufacturing problem if so many are having problems in the same time frame.

Last night we were watching a movie on our 32" Polaroid flat screen. It started sizzling and smoke started coming out the top. We immediately unplugged it and removed it from our center. It will come on with sound but no picture. We bought this TV 3 and 1/2 years ago and paid at least $400 for it. I see a lot of other people that purchased this same TV had the same problem and we should all get our money back! I will never buy another Polaroid ever!

We got the HDTV in 2008 and had problems with the DVD player in about its first six months after we got it. Then on October 15, 2010, the picture went out but still has sound. From what I've seen, lucky that there wasn't a fire model.

I bought my 32-inch flat screen TV from Walmart 3 yrs ago. I was lying in bed one night and I heard a pop sound and then a sizzling sound. The next thing I saw was smoke coming from my TV and I could smell something burning. I immediately jumped up and unplugged my TV. Polaroid sucks because my TV should have lasted longer than that. After all, I did pay over $400.00 for my TV.

I bought a 32 inch TV at Walmart on Black Friday in 2007. On November 24, 2011, it made a sizzling sound and smoke came out of the top and now there is no picture and it doesn't work. I am very upset as I am a single mother of 4 and cannot afford another TV. I am left without a TV, have lost 400 plux taxes and lost faith in Polaroid as a brand.

I bought a 32' Polaroid HD LCD TV/DVD combo, Model TDA-03211C in 2007, and less than 3 years later, smoke suddenly started coming out of it. The screen didn't go black, like in other cases, it kept working, so it was good that an adult was nearby to unplug it right away. This happened in 2010, and at that time, I realized there were already multiple (thousands?) complaints, so I'm surprised to see consumer authorities have not enforced a recall yet.

The 32-inch DVD/TV combo is plagued with issues. Our system lost its DVD and was replaced with warranty. Then like many others, the TV just quit. Many articles online seem to point to a faulty power supply. We just replaced the power supply, and the TV is still dead. This is a great company name, too bad they have very poor products, and lack luster support. Where are you Ralph **? I would add my name to class action as well. The consequences include loss of value, risk of fire in our residence and business, loss of income related to above, death, exposure to toxic by-products from electronics failure.

I purchased a 32 inch flat screen Polaroid TV on Black Friday 3.5 yrs ago. It is now totally useless. One night, while watching, the TV went totally black but had sound and then started smoking out of the top vent of the TV. I immediately unplugged everything from the TV and removed the plug from the wall. This was of great disappointment to me for having faith in this brand and also the risk I have taken owning this product in my home. I have read many other posts pertaining to the same TV that I had purchased and the same exact descriptions as to the failure of their TV was as mine. I request immediate action for the limited use I had of this TV. I want a refund and also the public made aware of how dangerous it is to have and use this product.

I had bought a 46 in Polaroid LCD 1080p online through walmart.com in April,2009 and then in May 2011, it started crackling and popping on and off then it started smoking then completely shut down.

I purchased a 32 inch Polaroid TV in 1/1/08 7. Had problems right away. The remote didn't work. Walmart said I could either return the TV, or buy a universal. Which I did, and it didn't work. By this time, Walmart did send me another remote. I now have 3 remotes but only one would work at a time. I would switch between the 1st and 3rd. Eventually neither would work and I would have to re program one of them. After 2 years of this, the screen went black. I had audio, but no picture. I called Polaroid over 6 times and was told to buy a convertor for $200.00. I filed a complaint with the bbb and also with the atty general of mass, Martha **. I called Polaroid one last time on 8/16/11 and talked to a Mark, who told me I needed to buy a converter. I said that wouldn't work because I threw the piece of ** away and got a Toshiba.

I purchased the TLX 04240B 42" from Wal-Mart on Black Friday two years ago. It had good price, good specs, etc. Now, I turn it on and picture is present for maybe 10 minutes then goes black with sound only. Black Friday, black screen! Doesn't sound like it is worth wasting any time or money to fix it based on what I see here. I learned my lesson: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't.

I bough a flat screen Poloroid LCD TV on black Friday from Wal-Mart in '07 or so. I came home today and the screen is black with no picture or sound with the buzzing noise also. I just read that a lot of yours started smoking, so I just unplugged that bad boy. What the heck Wal-Mart and Polaroid?

The picture went blank and is still soundless. It's than 3 years old. I'm out 400.00 dollars. The way it sounds, I'm afraid to try to repair.

I bought a Polaroid tla-0464c TV around in July or August 2007 and it has broken every single year almost to the month. I had purchased the extended warranty, so they fixed it three times with a new control box but would not give me a different TV. Now Polaroid says I will have to buy a control box for $400 or so that obviously will only work for up to one year and then require another $400 or so replacement!

I purchased a Polaroid television from Target less than one year ago and the picture goes black without any sound for several hours. Using the remote, the television will come on, flash a snow screen for a second, then go black. There is no rhyme, reason or explanation as to how this occurs.

My Polaroid HDTV was purchased on Black Friday as well. It was a gift. But TVs should last more than 3 years. Yesterday I noticed the TV was left on for a few hours while we were gone. I turned it off then back on again only to watch the screen fade to black. So now there is no picture, but there is sound. It appears I have the same problem as most I've read here.

My sister and I both purchased the Polaroid TLX-03210B on Black Thursday at Wal-Mart. About two months ago, my sister was working from home, her TV started smoking and then went black. Today, my husband called and said that our TV had done the same thing. Ridiculous! I cannot believe that Polaroid would sell such a defective product and I will never buy a Polaroid or TV from Wal-Mart again! We want our purchase price refunded.

There are vertical lines just right of center on the screen. The TV is only a couple of years old. I purchased 2 of them from Wal-Mart. Someone needs to step up and stand behind this product! I lost what I consider a lot of money on something that should last longer. Emotional distress.

I was watching TV and the screen went black. I turned it off, no change. The next day still no screen and now the TV is smoking from the back.

I bought my 32" Polaroid from Wal-Mart after Thanksgiving almost 4 years ago. It was barely out of warranty. I heard it sizzling one night. Then, I saw smoke coming out of the top. The screen went black and there was no sound. It sounds just like everyone else on here had the exact same problem. I called Polaroid. They said they were 99.9% sure of the problem and I could purchase the part with 75% of my money refunded if it didn't fix it. Well, guess what? It didn't fix it! I so wish I would have read these complaints before purchasing the part. I will never again buy another TV from Wal-Mart. And I will never again buy a Polaroid. Shame on them!

Bought a flat screen Polaroid LCD TV on Black Friday 2007 from Wal Mart and it has been going black (sound on but picture off) intermittently, no rhyme or reason? of heating up? Seen various forums with same complaints. Sent communication to Polaroid Co.

I got our 32" Polaroid LCD TV at the 2007 After Thanksgiving sale. From the time we set it up, it didn't have the same great picture as all the TVs in the store but I was just happy to have the TV so I didn't think much. Two days ago, however, I did think a lot! I was watching it and had gone into the kitchen. When I returned, I had no picture, just sound. I turned it off and back on to no avail. I tried leaving it off for many hours and nothing changed. It's shut. So now, I had to purchase a new one right before the Black Friday Sales. I guess I should be glad that mine didn't start a fire--which I found out that many people have after researching it now. But I'm still totally disgusted that Polaroid kept selling, instead of recalling these after they knew about all the trouble with these. Please add my name to the lawsuit.

I received the model#TLX03210B about 3 or 4 years ago. I was watching tv the other day and all of a sudden, smoke started coming out, no picture or now no sound. It was also bought on Black Friday, for Christmas. These people need to be given a dose of there own medicine. They have to answer to God one day.

The TV started smoking and burning at the top. We have no TV and they need to replace the damage or buy us a new TV.

We had bought a Polaroid 42" TV on black Friday and when turned on, works for about 15 minutes and then the picture goes black. After reading all the complaints just like mine, this is the worse product I have ever bought. Polaroid should have to stand behind their product.

I bought a 32" Polaroid (TLX-03210B) on Black Friday 2007 which cost about $400.00.

Over the last two years, if the TV was on longer than a few hours, the screen would go black (with sound) and would need to be turned off for a few hours. I contacted Polaroid and after waiting forever, I was told that it was out of any warranty. Now as of October 28th 2011, the picture is out for good! $400.00 is a lot of money for some of us to dish out for a TV purchased as a family/household gift for Christmas.

I thought Polaroid was a good brand name, being around so long and all. Now after reading about fire hazards, I won't be getting it repaired! If I had bought a brand new car and it completely quit after three and a half years of normal use, I'm pretty sure there would be laws to protect me from being ripped off. In these tough times, how am I supposed to pull together hundreds of more dollars for a new TV? On the other hand, how do I tell my two young children that we not only have no TV, but can't watch a DVD either.

Thanks Polaroid and include me in any class action lawsuit! I got financial hardship and emotional stress.

I purchased the 15" Polaroid TV for my kitchen. Within a year, the remote stopped working and now I 'm stuck with 1 channel. After reading the comments about the Polaroid company helping out, I won't waste my time trying to contact them and will try to figure something out myself like getting a universal remote perhaps.

I bought the TV 2 years ago on a Black Friday at Wal-Mart. Yesterday, it started to smoke, the screen went black and only the sound works.

The picture went blank while the sound and channel changing are working. Red light in the back is blinking. It's a 32 " Polaroid TV/DVD combo. I thought Polaroid would be a great TV being around as long as it has been. Now I don't know if it is worth it to get it fixed. The manufacture date is Aug 2008, should have lasted longer than that, don't you think? ?

I bought a 42" Polaroid flatscreen on Black Friday of 2008 at Walmart. Within 2 weeks, it required a repair for a lack of sound. Now this past Sunday, 10/23/2011, the TV turned itself off and hasn't worked since. I tried all the troubleshooting tips and nothing. I'm so mad that I paid $799 for a TV that I've had for less than 5 years.

I purchased a 42" Polaroid TV from Walmart and the set started making a high-pitched sound when turned on. It would go through different pitches then fade. Then, a week later, when I turned on the TV, it had volume but no picture. The screen was just black. What a bad product. Shame on Polaroid. Shame on Walmart! No TV! No faith in Polaroid! No faith in purchasing TVs from Walmart!

As we were sitting here watching TV, our Polaroid model TDX-02610B flat screen TV just popped, smoke started coming out and it started on fire. We immediately pulled it out of the entertainment center and extinguished the flames. Thankfully, the kids were not here alone. I have tried to contact Polaroid, but have been unsuccessful. I can't get through on the phone and their customer support email will not go through. I, like so many others, bought this at Wal-Mart about 1 1/2 years ago.

I have a Polaroid flat screen TV; manufacture date is 2007 and model # is TDA-03211C. The picture went black on it yesterday. Today, I'm looking online and there is a severe fire hazard associated with these models. The UL is fake and the TV doesn't meet the safety standards. Come on Polaroid, wake up and do a recall. Stand behind your products. Sony recalled 1.6 million of their TVs for the same reason.

I purchased 22" TV from Wal-mart in December 2008. We have never been able to get some channels, the TV stop in the middle of the picture and then no signal come up. I have brought 2 antennas and called Polaroid, I was told it was the signal; no antenna has work I shopping for a better antenna until I see Polaroid sell bad TV. I really feel bad it was a Birthday gift for my mother and she hates it. I wish I could give it back.

I have two Polaroid televisions that have been purchased at Wal-Mart within the last 4 years. One of them has an indicator light that turns on and nothing else. The second started to smoke. And the plug that goes into the back of the television melted, causing one of the parts that comes out of the TV to go into the plug melted.

About a month or two after we purchased the TV, it had about 4-5 inches on the left side of the picture which started to fade. A few months ago, the picture went black and there was no sound. We turned the TV off. We tried to turn it on a couple of days later and still no picture. We plugged it and that is how it is right now and I am glad that we did.

I own a 46" HD widescreen LCD television for two years and since the first date that we used it, the room where it was feels too hot and it was because the TV was too hot. Then after almost two years, there's no picture on the TV, only sounds. I paid almost seven hundred dollars for that TV, and now, we do not have TV anymore.

I purchased my 32" flat screen Polaroid in April 2007 from hhgregg. It worked perfectly until this morning when it will just not turn on. After reading all these comments, it is now unplugged and I am actually afraid to have it repaired.

I purchased a Polaroid 32" LCD HD TV in December 2007; in about April 2008 the picture went out and I only had sound, so Polaroid sent a part and a tech to repair the TV with no success. So Polaroid had me send them back my TV and they sent me a refurbished 32" TV with a DVD player. The DVD player died less than a year later. Now tonight on 10-19-2011 there was as sizzle then black smoke from the top of the TV, now no picture only sound and a terrible odor of melted plastic. The TV is now unplugged.

We bought a 32" Polaroid (Model: TDA03211C) TV/DVD combo with the two-year extended service plan on 11 Dec 07. After having the TV for a month, the DVD player stopped working. We took it back to Walmart and they replaced it. After having the new TV for three months, the screen went black. A repairman was sent and he fixed the TV. It worked fine until this morning.

We had been watching the TV for about four hours, then the TV went black with only sound playing. Of course, the service plan has expired and when I called the customer service number, it said that "all circuits are busy." I have tried to call several times and received the same message. Now, we are having to watch a 19" Samsung that we have had for years without any problems. We paid $683.00 for the Polaroid to only have it for a little over three years. We are very dissatisfied with Polaroid and I would like to be part of any class action lawsuit.

I purchased this TV at Wal-Mart in Beaumont, TX right after Hurricane Ike in 2008 (I'm an Ike survivor. I lost everything, including my home in Ike. That was the reason for purchasing new TV). Today is 10-15-2011. At 2 am, I woke up to use the bathroom. I went back to bed. While laying there trying to go back to sleep, Polaroid model TLX-02311B, 22-inch TV caught fire and started smoking. I unplugged unit and my husband removed it from home. He had a bad headache and breathing problems the rest of the night after inhaling smoke. Thank you God that I was awake. Now I'm online researching. I found that there is a class action lawsuit against Polariod. I want to join it.

We received a Polaroid TV model no. TLZ04244B for Christmas in 2008. In the beginning of August 2011, the screen just went black. After reading all of the comments, I am afraid to plug it back in and feel I would be wasting my time contacting Polaroid.

We purchased this Polaroid LCD 32" TV on July 4th, 2006, also from Wal-Mart. When we first got it, we thought we would be able to get HD local stations when the country went digital. We didn't! We used to get analog stations with the antenna, also satellite with DirecTV. Now, we got nothing digital on antenna. We should get digital without a converter box. Also, during a football game last week, the picture went off and on. We had sound but no picture. This happened about 6 or 7 times. I went into another room to check to see if that was also happening on another TV on the same game, but it wasn't. So now, since I've seen all these similar complaints, with TVs burning up and having no picture, and of course never getting them fixed, I really don't know which brand to buy anymore.

I purchased a 40" Polaroid in December 2008 from Walmart. It started flashing a rainbow of colors after being on for several hours around February 2011 and then would go black.

Actually, before that, it would just go black with no warning after being on for several hours. Now, if it does come on, the colorful screen appears then nothing. I have a Magnavox TV that is so old it needed a converter--never a problem. Polaroid quits after two years?

Wow! I just want to say 'ditto'. I can't believe there are so many of the same complaints and they are still in business. I bought my 32" flat screen in 2008 on Black Friday at Wal-Mart, like so many others listed here, and then the other day, it comes on and after a few seconds, fades to black with audio. Thank God, we didn't have the smoke or fire hazard with our grandkids here. Come on Polaroid 'Man Up' and do the right thing. You got some 'splaining' to do. Please add me to any class action list.

On Black Friday of 2008, I bought a Polaroid TV 32'' flat screen from Walmart and now the screen went black.

My mom bought this TV back in 2006, on Wed October 5, 2011, the picture went out but there was sound. We tried unplugging it and plugging it back in and heard a pop and then smoke started coming out! My mother is elderly and lives with me, my husband and our 9 month old daughter! Thank god we were home and awake when this happened, it could have burnt down our house. I am terrified by what could have happened had we been asleep. I always thought Polaroid was a good brand but I will never buy another Polaroid product. There is an ongoing Class Action Lawsuit and I want to join.

This is absolutely ridiculous! They have known about this problem and failed to issue a warning, recall or fix the problem. They continued to sell these TVs with knowledge of this.

I got the same deal as many. A black line went through the middle of my screen, then the picture went totally black. It got sound and nothing else. My TV is approximately 3 years old.

All I can say is I don't think anyone else should purchase a Polaroid TV of any kind. Like most of you, I have had my TV repaired three times and finally, I just said forget it. Polaroid won't own up to anything and neither will Walmart. I bought my TV at the Black Friday too. Now, I know why it was called Black Friday! First, you couldn't turn the TV on or off. Then the video messed up, the picture started showing like a film negative (all shadowy) and then the picture went completely out. I am done with Polaroid. If anyone wants to file a lawsuit, count me in please.

I purchased a 32" Polaroid Flat Screen from Walmart back in December 2006. A year later, the TV started making high pitch, screeching, humming and buzzing sounds, then the picture would go in and out. I sent it in for service under the (extended) warranty that I paid for. The TV came back and worked fine for about a year. After that, I started to have the same problems, and just as I called for service again, the TV went back to working properly.

Not even a year later, the TV went black, began to make the humming and buzzing sounds again and never came back on. I called the warranty company and Polaroid. Of course, they say that they can't fix it because my extended warranty has ran its course. They now want me to pay $245.00 for a new control box.

Reading what others have been through, it will be a waste of money seeing that it's only a temporary fix. Shaking my head, I am not understanding why nothing has been done here with all these complaints and customers having the same exact issues. This is ludicrous! Someone please advise what I should do. This is a total rip off and Polaroid needs to be held accountable!

We purchased two 42 inch flat screen TVs from Walmart on Black Friday in 2008, and one of our televisions just went out today, 10/4/11. Really? Not even 3 years old and I have to replace it or repair it. I will file a complaint with the better business bureau a.s.a.p.!

We will never purchase any Polaroid product again. We want a full refund.

In November, I bought a 32-inch HD Widescreen LCDTV (model: TLX-03210B a Polaroid Brand). It is a black Friday special at Wal-Mart. I had no problems with the TV at all, until Saturday the 1st of October of 2011.

I was watching TV with no problems, but around 10:00pm the screen went blank and I heard either a hissing sound or a sizzling sound coming from the TV, and immediately after, a black smoke starting to pour out of the top of the TV. So I went and unplugged it from the surge protector, and about 5 minutes later, the smoke stopped coming out of the TV. It took me a good 3-4 hours to get the burnt smell of plastic and whatever else is in it, to get vented out of my house. Now I am stuck watching an old 19 inch TV, with no money for a new Flat screen.

We bought this 42 inch Polaroid television 2 years ago from Walmart. We now have a 3-inch yellow stripe going all the way down the center of the screen. No one seems to know what has caused it, only that it will take money to look at it and/or fix it. After spending almost $1000 to purchase it, you would think it would have lasted longer in good condition.

I would like to join the class action lawsuit against Polaroid. My 32" LCD started smoking from the back. The fire dept. was called. Luckily, it was only the television and not the house. My son just happened to catch the TV smoking just before he left for school. God only knows what could have happened. Polaroid needs to be sued and put out of business.

My son purchased a 32" Polaroid TV model FLM-3201 a few years ago from Circuit City. Now it takes 15 minutes to warm up.

My son called and Polaroid wanted $150 for a box but said that might not fix it. I've never heard of a TV costing so much and lasting such a short time. I now see hundreds of complaints about these TVs. How can these people stay in business?

I purchased a TV a little over 2 years ago. DVD stopped working so I sent in to be repaired. Within the first 6 months, just about a week ago, the TV just stopped working. It was off and wouldn't turn on. I looked at the manual, thought it was fuse by plug as suggested in manual. No power, no lights, it was not the fuse. I tried to get Polaroid by phone, but got no answer. The TV was over $500 and it's junk. I have RCA and Zenith TV in kids rooms that are 10 to 18 years old and those still work. I think Polaroid should give us all our money back. Never buy Polaroid!

The television was on as we prepared to attend church services. All of a sudden, the television began to sizzle and smoke. Fire hazard apparent. My concern is that had we not have been home or asleep, could this have caused a fire?

I purchased a 42-inch Polaroid flat screen TV from Wal-Mart on their Black Friday sale. The TV has had a dark line going through it for a while now. Every time we switch the TV on, there is a whistling sound. On Tuesday, Sept 20, 2011, while the TV was on, we got a blue screen and the whistling sound and in less then 10 seconds the TV went black. I am totally disappointed with this TV and myself; I usually research major purchases but with this one i did not. I am going to toss it and would like to be included in any class action lawsuits that may come out of this.

I have a 46" Polaroid and have been having problems with the picture going out. While under warranty in December 2010, the control box was replaced. The problem continued and I had to purchase another control box in April 2011. Shortly after replacing the new control box, the TV started doing the same thing. I contacted the company and they told me that it wasn't the control box, it was the DirecTV satellite box. I called DirecTV and they sent out a service person to replace the satellite box. Everything worked pretty good up until a few weeks ago. The TV has started doing the same thing. Clearly, the TV cannot be repaired. This is the third control box and from the looks of it, the problem is not solvable. Like others, I purchased the TV from Walmart and I feel that Polaroid and/or Walmart should be made to compensate consumers for their troubles and losses.

My son and I turned the Polaroid 32" TV on and within minutes, we heard a hissing and then saw smoke coming out from the back. We bought the TV about 3+ years ago from Best Buy. If we hadn't been in the room, this could have cause a fire. I decided to look up recalls on this TV and found these similar complaints with this TV. I would like to know why a recall has not been issued?

We purchased a 32" flat panel Polaroid TV from Walmart approximately 3 years ago. Yesterday, the TV started pouring black smoke out of the back. The screen went black. Our house could have caught on fire!

I am interested to know if there is a class-action suit or anything that would make Polaroid repair this problem that obviously hundreds of people are experiencing.

Like almost everyone else, the television was bought on the Black Friday sale at Walmart in 2007. It is the TLX-03210b. The screen blanked out and also started smoking before I could pull the plug. I would love to see something happen about all these complaints. Class action lawsuit, anyone? Email me please if someone undergoes a lawsuit. Thank you.

I was given a Polaroid TV 22" flat screen that hangs on the wall for Christmas 2010. Not a week later, it started turning off and then not turning back on for a while. I thought maybe I set a timer or something on accident. But it continued to happen.

Finally about a month or so of having the TV, it stopped turning on completely! The indicator light is on but the TV will not turn on even if I go up to the TV itself and press the power button. It was purchased from Target so we called and they told us they couldn't do anything and to call the company.

We did and they told us to ship it to them. But we had to pay 65 bucks to have it shipped to them on top of the cost of the broken TV. Anyway, we shipped it and about three-four weeks later got it back with a note saying that there was some kind of board that had a problem and they replaced it. So I plugged it in and it worked. But I already had a replacement TV and needed someone to hang this one back up for me so I put it back in the box and waited a few weeks for my grandfather to hang it for me.

Not two days after hanging it, I have the same problem. We called once again and they said, "Oh sorry, we can't do anything. You can ship it back to us and we'll take another look at it." You've got to be kidding me. I'm not going to waste another 65 dollars to have them not fix it. And had I known how many complaints there were, I would have returned it immediately!

I purchased a Polaroid LCD/DVD television set from Walmart. It is now about 2 years later and the TV started to sizzle and then smoke. There is no picture. We continue to call Polaroid's service number as provided by Walmart. No one answers the number provided, as the phone just gives a fast busy signal. We cannot use the TV. I will never consider another purchase of a Polaroid product, of any kind, if this issue goes unaddressed.

My husband had purchased a 32" Polaroid HD television. Model # TDX-03211C. We bought it from Walmart about 2 years ago. One day, I was watching it and had left the room for a minute. When I came back, the sound was still on but no screen. We do not have the finances to purchase another TV nor are we planning on it! To spend our hard earned money on something that tears up so soon after purchase, hardly seems fair. After searching the web for possible self fixes, I came across your website and saw all the others who have been duped out of their money. Don't you think it's time for something to be done about these shoddy practices?

I bought a 37" Polaroid LCD 2 years ago. It has nice picture, but I encountered the same problem. The screen goes black.

I purchased a Polaroid TV from Walmart. After about a year, the TV stopped working. No picture or sounds, only a red light. I called Polaroid and they assured me of the part I needed. The man said to just unplug the box and replace it with the new one. It didn't work! After calling Polaroid again, I was told "all sales are final". Not only am I out the price of the TV, but $150.00 for the useless part.

I bought a 22" Polaroid TV from Target this summer. It is only four months old, but it will not even turn on now. It started just randomly shutting off, and now it won't even turn on. I don't have my receipt anymore and Target wouldn't do anything because it had been over 90 days. Target told me to contact Polaroid. I called Polaroid today and they said that there was no warranty without a receipt. There is supposed to be a one-year warranty on the TV. The TV was manufactured in January 2011. It is obvious that the TV is less than one year old. However, Polaroid refused to honor their warranty program.

I bought a Polaroid 32" at Walmart. A few days ago, the TV just went black, has volume but no picture.

My 32" Polaroid flat screen which I bought at Walmart three years ago has snapped. There was no sound and the screen has gone black. When I turned it on, I smelled something but I immediately unplug it. I have enough on my hands without a fire. My three children have no TV in the living room and we have not the means currently to buy another TV. We have had the same response from Polaroid (as the rest of the individuals I've seen online) when we sent them letters and emails. I am disabled and my wife teaches but is now unemployed. Tough enough! No, we have another TV in our house--a 20" Polaroid bought from the same place at the same time frame. We are not thrilled to turn it on.

I got this 32" Polaroid TV with built-in DVD player about 4 years ago, brand new from Walmart. In July 2011, I was watching TV with my wife and the screen just went black! I could still hear sounds but no ** picture! It's so frustrating because it should have lasted us a lot longer time! Not just a few years! Someone should have to pay for this!

I bought a Polaroid TV at Wal-Mart on a Black Friday on the year 2007. Just recently, I saw smoke come out of it, and it stopped working. The screen is black; I can just hear the sound and see no picture. I hate this TV now. I felt as if I was ripped off and scammed by Polaroid. I regret buying this brand because they are money hungry. Everyone has this problem, and Polaroid isn't doing anything about it! It makes me feel sad because they are getting away with this. I want to take some action, so no one else in the future would get rip off.

I purchased my 32 inches flat screen, Polaroid HDTV from Wal-Mart in 2008. Tonight, my husband turned it on, and the screen slowly went black. You can hear the audio, but there's not picture.

I purchased a 32 inch TV/DVD combo from Walmart. The DVD stopped working after 1 month. I contacted Polaroid who then sent a new motherboard and paid for Sears repairman to come and replace it. The DVD worked for a couple of months and then failed again. I was no longer able to get assistance from Polaroid.

Just today, we were watching TV and heard a sizzling noise. There was smoke coming from the back of the TV. I can only imagine if I had fallen asleep and this happened later in the night. The house would have caught fire while we all slept. The danger in this is horrific. I logged online only to find similar complaints.

Why has Polaroid done nothing? A recall would have been sufficient to remove these dangers from our homes. This is ridiculous. I plan on seeking legal advice on how to proceed with a lawsuit. I do not want to imagine the possible outcomes had this incident happened only an hour later. It is not 1:34 am on 9/6/2011, a little past the normal time I go to sleep. All of our kids are asleep - all 7 children in the house. This could have been catastrophic.

I received a Polaroid 32" LED TV from a friend and the picture went black and started smoking from the rear. I tried to contact Polaroid about this and they said it would cost between $150 and $300 to fix. This faulty TV could have burned down my home.

I have purchased a Polaroid flat screen TV at Walmart in 2008. And now the DVD player quit working. Every time I try to reach them, no answer and no web site to be found.

And on some channels, they turned black. We have paid a lot for this TV and now, not even within a year's time, it is not working. I had my RCA for over 12 years and it still works to this day.

I am very upset that they only have a 90-day warranty. The DVD player is making a clunking sound and when loading the DVD, it said no DVD to be found.

I still have the box to the TV.

It was on 8/24/09 when I first complained about this TV. I will never again purchase one of these. They should be ashamed of themselves for selling them.

I still have not heard anything from them and now, on some of the other stations, a black box comes up and you can only see half the picture.

My wife and I purchased two TV's from Circuit City in mid to late 2007. One was a 32" Polaroid. In late 2010 (fall), the screen went black and it lost the sound.

I have not thrown the TV away yet. I figure I may try to fix it somehow. It has sat in my garage for almost a year. I decided to plug it in, the picture came back to the blue tone it once had and, within 2 minutes, smoke began pouring from the back.

Since it was out of any warranty, we knew all along the fact that Circuit City had closed their doors and we were left with no other choice than to buy a new TV. I would like to know if there is any recourse to Polaroid, especially after reading of so many others that had similar problems.

I received an HD Polaroid TV as a gift. It was purchased at Walmart two years ago. Today, when I turned it on, I heard a sound. The picture came on for two seconds then it went black. I would like to join the class action suit.

I purchased a 32" Polaroid TV from Circuit City about three years ago. A few days ago, the picture went out and the TV started smoking. After reading several similar complaints, I was wondering if there was any action being taking against Polaroid.

My husband and I bought the 32 inch Polaroid TV/DVD combo from Wal-Mart in Windsor, NJ in April 2008. A year after we bought the TV, the DVD player broke. Then, last year, I had to send the TV back to Wal-Mart to get it repaired because the TV screen went completely black, but I was still able to hear the voices. They did fix the problem because I bought the extended warranty. On August 31, 2011, I was watching TV with my mother and all of a sudden the TV went black again, but I was still able to hear the voices. I shut the TV off and I heard a popping sound and a sizzle and then smoke poured from the top vent of the TV.

I asked your troubleshooting/service department about "What could make the sound go out on a 7-year old Polaroid HDTV". When I submitted this question, the technician asked me to submit a payment for the information! I would expect better from a long-existing business like Polaroid! This TV belongs to my 81-year old mother and it will be a great amount of trouble to get this TV to a repair shop! I will appreciate a response!

I got a Polaroid TDA 03211C a few years ago from Wal-Mart. Like all the rest, I replaced the capacitor with a higher voltage, picture perfect (luckily I worked for a semi-conductor company). The DVD player has only been used once, but it was replaced three times under warranty. The TV will not power up. The indicator light is on, but when I hit the power button on the TV or the remote, NOTHING happens. This is **, and as consumers, the number of complaints I see in regards to this TV...someone should be able to hold Polaroid, Wal-Mart and Sears accountable.

The 46" Polaroid television I bought from them has gone dark on one side of it. This is a very expensive TV to have only lasted for two years.

I have a Polaroid HDTV 36" flat screen. It screams and squeals when turned on for at least 15 minutes (have to mute it until the noise is gone). You can listen to it for a while. And then, it starts rumbling and bumbling so bad that you have to turn it off, because you can't hear the TV over the noise. If you unplug it for about 5 minutes, you can turn it back on and hear it for a while. Also, there is a shadow in the middle of the screen that gets worse as you watch TV.

I bought a Polaroid brand TV from WalMart in 2008. Literally, there are hundreds of complaints about this TV that I purchased of the picture going out with smoke and fire. My TV is now likewise going out.

I bought a Polaroid 42" HDTV from Walmart on Black Friday in 2008. Now, the screen just went black. After reading up on this TV, I will never buy a Walmart or Polaroid product for the rest of my life. I will also tell everyone I know to do the same!

I bought a 19-inch Polaroid Built-In DVD HD TV approximately two years ago. In the month of July my screen went black. I can still hear the sound. It was recommended to turn off the TV for a little while. When I turned on the TV again, the screen worked properly for five seconds then it went black again. This time I started to smell something burning in the back of the TV. I attempted to contact the company but got no results.

I bought a 32'' Polaroid HDTV from Walmart almost three years ago. I smelled smoke but I thought someone was cooking. My daughter said she heard a pop. She looked at the top of the TV and there was smoke coming from it. We turned the TV off and it stopped smoking. About an hour later, we turned the TV on and it popped again. It smoked, and then there was sound but no picture. The shameful thing is that when my daughter googled to see what could have happened, even without searching, the make of the TV Polaroid came up. My daughter has a 23'' Polaroid. We're afraid the same thing will happen to hers. She also found that there is a class action suit recently filed.

I received a 32" Polaroid flat screen TV as a Christmas gift in 2009. Around January this year 2011, the screen had started going black at the center followed by the rest of the screen a few moments later, although the sound was still on. I unplugged it for a few weeks and watched my old-fashioned one.

Eventually, I thought I'd try again and when I did the screen was still dark and smoke was coming out of the top. It's very scary with my kids sitting there too.

Polaroid should make good on their defective product. They should offer a recall before someone burns down their house and risks the lives of families because of this defective television.

Luckily, nothing happened besides frightening me and three small children.

I was sitting watching my Polariod TV and black smoke with a crackling sound came out of the back. Calling my lawyer tomorrow. Seems like this is not just a coincidence but an epidemic. My house could have been set on fire! Another weird pattern I noticed, I bought it from Walmart on black Friday. Did they decide to get rid of all the defective TV on that day?!

I purchased at Walmart. The TV is less than 2 years old and as most everyone else has said, the TV has sound and no picture. It can change channels but is completely black. TVs should last for at least 10 years for the costs! It's ridiculous and they should have to stand behind their products! With the cost of gas, who has extra money for a TV?!

Recieved Polaroid 42 inch LCD flat screen as a gift in Oct. 2007. 8-7-11 watching TV all morning. changed it over to Spongebob and left the room, my 4 year old son started yelling "Smoke" and there was smoke coming out of the back of the TV. Picture when black but sound was still playing.

We purchased a 42" Polaroid flat screen in 2008 at Walmart on Black Friday. Our TV first started to turn on with just 1/2 of the picture about a month ago. After it was on for 5 minutes or so, the whole picture would come back.

3 days ago, we were watching our TV and we smelled burning plastic. At that time, we were not aware of all the complaints about this TV. Well since then, our almost 3-year-old TV has completely quit working with all the same symptoms I've been reading about.

I'm thankful for this site. It probably saved us a huge headache.

I purchased a Polaroid LCD TV model TLX-04240B from Walmart a couple years ago. The screen has started going black. We have sound, but no picture.

I bought my TV 2 years ago. It is a 32" Polaroid TV. Black smoke came out of the back and then the picture went blank. My warranty is out and Polaroid wants me to pay $300 for repairs.

I am aware that there have been numerous complaints about this specific model and I think Polaroid should be replacing these TVs as it is their negligence that causes malfunctions.

Do not buy anything made by Polaroid! A Polaroid item is nothing but pure JUNK. Polaroid will not stand behind their warranty. This company is a joke and need to close it doors forever.

My 3-year new Polaroid 32" flat-screen TV was working perfectly until last night when the screen went black. There was a sizzling noise and smoke poured out of the back of the TV. It is now fried, toast, roached, history.

Can you suggest any class action lawsuit? This page is full of complaints against Polaroid.

I bought a 42' Polaroid HD tv at our Lufkin Walmart Store on Black Friday 2008. The picture went black.

We purchased a Polaroid LCD flat screen TV about two years ago. Suddenly last month, I heard a click then black smoke came out from the back and the screen went blank. I have seen online the information about a class action lawsuit against Polaroid Corp. for the same problem. How can I join this class action lawsuit?

I purchased a 32" HDTV by Polaroid at Walmart during the Black Friday sale in November 2007. Exactly one year and a day later, a vertical, green line appeared in the center of the screen. On Thursday, July 21, 2011 the screen went black. I plugged it in again today, July 26th, and it began to smoke from the rear in less than one minute. Polaroid has filed for bankruptcy. I will put this TV out for the trash tomorrow before my home catches on fire.

I purchased a Polaroid HD Widescreen LCD television (model #TLX-04240B), in January 2008. Approximately two weeks ago, the TV started losing the picture (going to a black screen) with the sound staying on. To recover the picture, I have to turn the TV off then back on.

I have tried to contact someone at Polaroid, but have been unsuccessful. I looked online and discovered numerous people with the same exact TV failure.

To me, this has all the makings of a "latent defect", and Polaroid should be held responsible.

I was given this TV as a gift three years ago. I didn't have the paperwork on the TV, and they couldn't help me. I tried getting in touch with Polaroid via the web. They would help me for a fee. I can't find an 800 telephone number to speak to a person; I even tried to buy a motherboard online, and had trouble with that also.

I purchased a Polaroid television about two years ago from Wal-Mart. Around July 14, 2011, the television started smoking from the back. The picture went completely black. It still has sound, but you can no longer see the picture.

I purchased a flat screen Polaroid TV three years ago and I still have my receipt. Me and my kids were sitting here watching the tv when all of a sudden, we heard a pop, saw fire and smoke coming out of the TV. I called Wal-Mart where I purchased it and they said that they couldn't detect it out. They gave me another type of TV and they told me to call Polaroid. Well, I did and they told me what was wrong. I had to buy the part in it and send back the old one and I would get 100 dollars back. I think if the TV was caught on fire, there will be more parts damaged. I asked to talk to a manager and he said that he could do nothing about it.

Now we are sitting here without a TV, that I thought was a good product and they don't give a damn about it. All I want is for them to take this TV which is sitting in my front room and give my money back. Even if I did get a warranty it wouldn't be any good because it would only be for 3 years. I am truly done and out on this and I will never buy any more Polaroid products again. I have also told my friends about it.

Can someone please help me. This is very unfair. I am a single mom with no job and I can't afford to buy another TV right now. Please help us. Thanks.

purchased a 42 inch lcd polaroid widescreen tv about 4 years ago from walmart. paid $800 for it. this morning the screen went black and smoke started pouring out from the back of it. thank god we were right there when it happened. who knows how bad it could have been if we weren't right in the room. will never purchase another polaroid product again.

I bought a Polaroid LCD 42 inch TV in November 2009 and it recently started going black and making a popping sound.

I got a Polaroid TDA 032 11c about two years ago from Walmart. Like all the rest, it has a sound but no pitcher. I replaced three caps in the power board and the mother board, c49 burnt up. It will cost about $150 to replace.

Polaroid TV has no picture and sound and it looks like I might as well not waste my time. Walmart and Polaroid just took advantage of a consumer. It's typical, they take your money and to hell with them. We'll stop buying at Walmart. They should be held liable.

I bought a new TV in 1/07 & the screen went black, e-mailed Poloroid with no response so I junked the TV & bought a new one. Will never ever buy any Poloroid product again!!!! Very unhappy customer.

Have a 42" Polaroid TV purchased at Walmart 2 1/2 years ago. Line started to appear on screen about a week ago. It is getting longer and wider, distorting the image. Polaroid has not responded to complaint. (Unless I pay an exhorbitant fee for on-line support) From what I have read, this is a typical issue with Polaroid TV's and should be recalled and I should be reimbursed.

I have a Polaroid 15.6" 1080i HDTV LCD w/ ATSC Tuner TLA-01515B, factory refurbished, with a 90-day guarantee, purchased on March 2009 at Wal-Mart $368.27. Shortly after the warranty expired, it started turning on and off rapidly. I changed the plugs, outlets, power strips; and solved that. Today, I lost the picture and tried shining a flashlight at the screen in a blackened room to see if there's a faint image, but I don't see it; so, I guess it isn't the inverter. I'm using Phillips rabbit ears for an antenna; and a couple of weeks ago, it stopped receiving the higher-numbered few channels like PBS. I can only get 3 channels now -- 3, 5-1, and 5-2. I don't see how it could be related to the loss of the picture, but thought I'd mention it.

I purchased a Polaroid 32" hdtv/combo in Nov 07 Model # TDA-03211C cost appx. $600. It suddenly went black & ceased to work 1 yr & 3mo. later. I called Walmart where I purchased it & was told they no longer sold Polaroid TV's nor could they help me or exchange it. I contacted Polaroid service & was told they would mail me a new motherboard for about $300.

Who knows if it even needs a motherboard or if something else is wrong with it, and am I suppose to install that myself? I searched several tv repair stores and was told they did have the parts for it. This was in the Houston,TX area. So I'm stuck with it and very unhappy with Polaroid & Walmart.

We had a 42" built-in DVD Polaroid HD TV. The screen went black. Blue light turns on but nothing works. No sound or picture. We only had for it two years. TVs should last more than two years. We hardly used the TV and it still had stickers on it from when we purchased it.

I bought a Polaroid flat screen TV from Walmart three years ago and paid over 500 dollars for it. The screen has turned black and there was no sound. TVs should not do this. This makes Walmart and Polaroid company look bad.

My 3-year new Polaroid 32-inch flat-screen TV was working perfectly until last night when the screen went black. There was a sizzling noise and smoke poured out of the back of the tv. It is now fried, toast, roached, history. Ironically, 8 days post-warranty.

Can you suggest any class action lawsuit? This page is full of complaints against Polaroid.

3 years ago on Black Friday, I purchased a 42" Polaroid LCD TV at Walmart. Last night, the screen went black. I still have sound but no picture. Polaroid and Walmart are aware of this problem but nothing is being done to reimburse consumers. What a big rip-off!

The 32-inch Polaroid television was on and suddenly the screen went blank (black) and smoke started pouring out of the top part of the TV's back. It is 3 years and 8 days old.

My ex purchased a 42-inch LCD Polaroid TV from Wal-Mart in 2008. A year after, it started making a popping sound frequently when turned on. Of course, this was after the warranty was out. Now, I went to turn the TV on and it would stay on for a few seconds at a time, then it completely quits. This TV is only 3 yrs old. We paid over $700 for this piece of **. And I've been told it may cost me over $200 to repair, which was not worth it. And after reading all of these complaints that are very similar to mine, I will never buy Polaroid again.

We purchased our 37-inch flat panel Polaroid TV/DVD combo from Walmart, approximately 3 years ago. We were watching TV and heard a loud "popping" sound; then smoke was coming from the TV. We quickly unplugged the TV and got the fire extinguisher; but it was not needed, once we unplugged and shut the TV off. I have read many other complaints about this and would like to be included in this lawsuit as well. This is a huge issue and luckily, we were home so no further damage was caused. We are just now out of a television and have to purchase a new one. It will definitely not be a Polaroid.

i bought 2 polaroid tv's on the same day--within 3 days BOTH of them stopped working--same exact problem--screen went blank--no sound--i have read MANY complaints on different web sites that everyone has had the same problem--and Polaroid is not standing behind this problem

After three years of my purchase from Walmart, my 37" Polaroid LCD TV FLM373B, stopped working completely (black screen) which after doing some research found out that hundreds of others have had the same problem, with no help at all from Polaroid. They need to be issued a class action suit and exposed for the ripoff company they are.

I like many other people who bought a Polaroid tv was watching tv, when I heard a weird whooshing sound. The screen went blank and smoke started billowing out of the tv. It cost us $700 and was only 3 years old. I will be contacting Polaroid and Wal mart tomorrow; either I like what I hear or I will make it a personal mission to let everyone know that the Polaroid company is a huge scam artist. I don't like being taken advantage of and it brings out my boxing gloves so fast!!!

I bought a 42" polaroid television two years ago and I'm already losing half the picture on the left side. This television cost a lot of money and should have lasted longer than 2 years. I will never shop at Wal-mart again as they sell cheap products to unsuspecting victims. No wonder they're all billionaires.

Bought a 42inch Polaroid lcd tv, at first the sound went, then the picture went black.

Apparently Polaroid tvs have this know problem. I've had this tv for about 2 years now.

Purchase a 32 LCD TV 11/23/2007 from Wal-Mart with a SVC plan Model# TLX-03210T. On 5/11/2011 tv stop working no picture or sound. Call the warranty in but it expire 11/2010. Call Wal-Mart the can't help. Call Polaroid they can send a new mother board for $222.99, but could not get in touch with the corporate office none of the phone numbers works. This is not be acceptable, for what it cost or just being unable to speak to the corporate office. What are the hiding.

It's a Polaroid TV with the same problem as a lot of others, a 32" TV. I heard sizzling and a puff of smoke came out of the TV. I bought it at Walmart on Black Friday, 2-3 years ago. Ugh, if anything happens with a law suit, I would love to know about it.

We purchased our 32" Polaroid flat screen TV/DVD combo in 2007. The DVD player failed after the 1 year mark. Last week, the picture disappeared, so we turned the TV off. When we turned it back on, we saw the picture again for a moment and then we heard a loud snapping noise and the picture disappeared for good. A few moments later, dark grey smoke started wafting up above the top middle of the television.

My husband tried to turn off the television (we still had sound) but the remote didn't work. He ran to unplug it while I got ready to grab the fire extinguisher. There was no fire, but we are angry about the $600 we gave to Walmart for this dangerous piece of garbage. I would like to be a part of a class action suit against Polaroid. It seems like hundreds of TV's have had the same problem.

My first Polaroid TV started making a popping sound when you turned it on. Then the DVD player on the back of the TV stopped working. I took it back to Wal-Mart and they gave me a new one. This was on the second week. I got a new one from Wal-Mart and the new TV starting making a popping sound and the DVD player on it went out within months (I just bought a Blu-ray player and said,"well I took a lost"). I called and got no concrete answers. It worked for about three years. Sometimes the picture was going out, and tonight it went out completely and there is a burning smell coming from the back of the TV. I feel like I have taken over a $600 lost for an inferior product. I have felt like it was a bad choice from the beginning and now I am sure.

We as consumers should have some sort of reimbursement for a product that clearly has some issues.

I purchased a 32" TV/DVD combo. Within the first month, the DVD messed up. Fortunately, Polaroid sent a replacement part that my husband had to install. A few months later, we had the TV on for a few minutes, and it went black and smoke started coming out the back. I called Polaroid, but they were closed. So I emailed them, and after a week, I have not seen a reply.

I bought 42" Polaroid TV from Wal-Mart on Black Friday 2008. Its sound works but the picture does not! After reading all these complaints, I felt I needed to be counted! It's not only a waste of money but a hassle to dispose of this big TV.

I purchased a 37" Polaroid in 2006. Within 3 months, I had a problem with the picture not turning on and oftentimes, there was no sound when turned on. I wrote to the CEO but the letter was returned since they moved the corporate office without a forwarding address. I went online and the only response I got was that I would have to pay to ship the defective TV and then pay $300 for another one. I went locally and found a repairman that was able to put in a new power panel and it cost me $200. He was quite aware of this problem which was quite common with Polaroid TVs. Now, I am having a funnel shaped dark shadow that continues to get darker and is expanding. As I go online and see all of the complaints, I am very concerned especially when I read about smoking TVs and the potential for fire.

I purchased my 42-inch Polaroid full HD LCD TV on Black Friday, November 28, 2008 at Walmart. I paid $598 plus tax and the TV is not yet 3 years old. For the past 6 months, I noticed that the color is leaking down the screen on the right side. Then 2 months ago, black horizontal lines appeared at the top of the screen and have progressed to the top 1/3 of the picture! I called Polaroid and was told that there was no warranty and that I should hire a repairman who knows how to work on flat screen TVs. Last week, the picture on the right side turned black. You can't see anything until the TV has been on for some time and the picture comes back. A class action suit is warranted. We need to find a well-known law firm to handle it.

I purchased a 44 inch Polaroid flat screen TV for my husband for Christmas two years ago and the picture went out. We still have sound but no picture. Apparently, Polaroid doesn't care and I've basically wasted $500+. I need to purchase a new TV.

I bought a 32'' LCD flat screen TV on May 9, 2009. After one year, I noticed a slight cloudiness on a small portion of the screen of the TV. This was bought as a demo model. However, 2 years to the day after purchase, its screen went black and I could still hear sounds. I called Walmart and Polaroid to complain to no avail. I will never buy another Polaroid TV again. If a class action law suit is established, I would like to be included. I paid $450.00 for this TV 2 years ago and cannot afford to replace it or the $300.00 cost to fix it.

My 32" HD LCD TV with DVD model with serial number **, which I received about 4 months ago as a gift, won't turn on. Without a receipt, they won't help me. People that gave the TV don't even remember where they purchased it because they do so much shopping at Christmas. Now, I sit with a basically new TV that I can't use. The people who purchased a few of these for gifts paid a lot of money for them and we expected that they should last longer than a few months. Polaroid won't make up for it.

I purchased a 46" LCD Polaroid TV from Walmart on Black Friday 2009. By December of 2010, of course, just past the one-year warranty, the TV started going blank on just the right side of the TV. We would bang on the side of the TV and it would come back to life, until we turned it off and back on again. Banging on the side of the TV worked until about two weeks ago. Now the right side of the screen stays blank no matter what we do. The left side works fine. Pretty frustrating to spend $600+ on a TV and only have it work right for a year. This is a lot of money, I cannot afford to go out and buy a new one.

Smoke started coming out of the television, and the picture disappeared. The TV has sound but no picture. The set is only 2 years old, and was bought from Wal-Mart. This television is used in our living room. We will have to have this TV repaired or replaced. We did a search and noticed that there are a lot of people who have experienced the same issues with Polaroid television sets.

Today, 5-7-11, my 42" Polaroid TV only has half of a picture until it warms up and then it is okay. So I went online to get an idea of what it could be so I can get it fixed. I was totally surprised to see that several other similar complaints were on this site. As with other customers, I had purchased my TV on Black Friday last 2007 or 2008 (I can't remember, time goes by too fast). But I agree that a $600 TV should last longer than three or four years. I don't know if this is going to help or not, but I wanted to add my complaint with the others. Hopefully, something will happen like a recall or some type of compensation to all who have purchased these defective products from Polaroid. I have not noticed any smoke like other consumers, but I will definitely be alert.

I bought a 32" Polaroid HDTV for it to be of no use at all. I have had to purchase another TV because Polaroid's customer service wouldn't give me any feedback, advice--not even sympathy after wasting all my hard-earned money on a television that is only good for taken up closet space. After a very brief period, the TV stopped working. You can cut it on and the on light will come on, but that's all I can get. No Sound, no picture, nothing! I feel like this is very wrong and I should be compensated as well as the other innocent victims of Polaroid.

My Polaroid TDX-03211c caught on fire last night, and had I not been home, I would have lost my house. I called the support number listed on the Polaroid website (1-800-765-2764) and told them what had happened. (This is a call center run by another company for Polaroid.) All they can do is send a new motherboard at a cost to the consumer, and they have no instructions or information on this issue from Polaroid.

This TV is a fire hazard, and Polaroid needs to take responsibility and recall these TVs and replace them before someone dies from this. Or do they want someone to die before they take responsibility?

I bought this 42" flat screen 2 years ago, and just last night, I turned it on and there was no picture. The screen was black, no sound, no nothing. I contacted a representative from Polaroid and they told me there was nothing they could do for me.

So pretty much, Polaroid is getting rich by selling bad TVs to average working class people that are barely getting by with the cost of living itself. Parts alone are $200.00 to $300.00. We, as customers should get refunded or some kind rebate or something. Now there's just a piece a crap TV on wall, mounted above my fireplace that doesn't work. Thanks again Polaroid. Never again will I buy any of your products.

I purchased a 32" widescreen Polaroid television from Circuit city in Gainesville on January 30, 2009. Two nights ago, I was watching the TV and I heard a hissing sound and the screen went black and a plume of dark smoke billowed up from the back of the set. The sound was still working. I called my son from another room and he unplugged the cords for me. It smelled bad and I was afraid it might catch fire. I was unaware that others were having the same problems until I got online and started reading all the complaints that were the same as mine.Something needs to be done to help the consumers who purchased this product. I can't afford to lose over $500.00 on a bad purchase. All the others and myself need someone to step up and have this company make it right.

I bought this 37" Polaroid television from Circuit City about 4 years ago and it is broken already. It stopped working several months ago. I have contacted Polaroid several times and got nowhere. They told me to send them $300.00 to get this piece and repair it. I do not have that kind of money. I did my research and it said that polaroid sold these defective TV around 2008and 2009 and that was around the time I purchased it. I believe they should replace the TV, free of charge because they sold defective TVs.

How can the television break already? I purchased this TV so I could have it for a long time. Now, I have no TV to watch, and I wasted my money.

I bought a 42" Polaroid flat screen TV. It lasted a little over 2 years and the screen went black with no audio. I paid $149.00 to get the replacement part. It came with a 30-day warranty and worked for 55 days. I would suggest to anyone buying any Polaroid product to look at any other manufacturer.

I bought a Polaroid HDTV three years ago at Wal-Mart on the Black Friday Sale after Thanksgiving and now the picture is distorted by blotching, mostly over people on the TV, but also on some background distortion of color, too. I am with you on filing a class action suit!

This is entirely too much money for three years of TV. I can't afford to go out and buy another expensive TV like I had, so I have to watch the 21-inch!

On 11/23/07, I bought a 42" HD Wide Screen LCD Polaroid Flat Screen TV from Walmart for $766.68 plus tax. Today is February 28, 2011. For the last month or so, we have sound on the TV but no picture. I read the hundreds and hundreds of complaints from other people who are having the same problem with their Polaroid TV. This is totally ridiculous for a TV to not last any longer than this. My last TV probably lasted 20 years!

A class action law suit against Polaroid should be filed, and I want to be counted in it. We are going to have to buy another TV and we only have social security to live off of. We are retired and have to have something to do to pass our time as we don't have money for gas, eating out, going places, or anything else. This company should have to pay for putting out such an inferior product and taking advantage of so many people!

My Polaroid LCD TV no longer works. I turn it on and the blue light comes on but no sound, no picture and I can't turn it off. I have to unplug it to turn it off. I have also tried to contact CS but they are of no help. I filed a complaint with the BBB but I am not sure if that will do anything. I agree that we should be able to file a lawsuit with Polaroid, especially when I see on the BBB website that Polaroid has an "F"--one of the reasons why they don't respond to complaints.

I bought a Polaroid 42" flat screen LCD on Black Friday at Wal-Mart 3 years ago and have seen a reddish haze in the middle of the screen for the last 3 months. This has been progressing down the screen and expanding across it. I was told that the warranty has expired and there is no requirement by Polaroid to do anything about it other than my paying to see if it can be fixed.

My TV just went black. It has volume, changes channel, but no picture.

I have a Polaroid 19" LCD TV purchased from Circuit City in 2008. It worked about one year, then only sound and no picture. Looks like I'm in the same boat with the thousands of other Polaroid complaints.

I purchased the Polaroid LCD 32" TV for my husband, back in June 2007, for a father's day present. We returned the first one, because the first DVD we put in, would not come out. When we replaced it, the second one did also. In addition, for months, the picture would go black, but the audio was clear. For some strange reasons, it started working again, without incident until December 2010. I was sitting in bed watching TV, and all of a sudden, the TV went black with the audio still intact, then there was smoke in the back.

Now, it's out of warranty. We actually have a ticket number from the warranty period, when we first experienced the problem, but nothing was done. I am very upset because we do not have a lot of money. Having to replace a television after three short years, is ridiculous, and comes at a time where we can't afford to purchase another one right away. I'm hoping there will be a class action suit on this model. There are so many similar complaints about this television, that I cannot see how this would not turn into a class action suit. I want in, if it ever happens, because I am beyond frustrated. We have no money to replace our TV. People invest in televisions, not expecting to replace them for 15-20 years. This television came at a hefty price of $668.00, not cheap. I want a refund.

It has been at least one year since I posted several complaints about The Polaroid LCD TV. Dates posted are Dec. 15, '09; Nov.24, '09' Nov.10, '09. When I posted my complaint, there were approx. 250 complaints all the way back to April '06. It now appears to have doubled or tripled. The Federal Government Consumer Protection Agencies need to get involved.

The Fed's along with the cable industry has forced all consumers to purchase new equipment to enjoy a better picture and sound. I have been in contact with numerous agencies to no avail. There is a deceptive practice by Polaroid. When you call the Polaroid cs# you are actually speaking to a cs rep. from Summit Technologies based in NJ. Then after sending them $229 for a new control box assured me that the new one would be checked out before shipping. Wrong. They actually sent me a defective control box and refused to refund my money. I called Wal-Mart, the AG's office in NJ. Waste of time. I do not like being ripped off.

I purchased a 32in Polaroid TV(TLX-03210B, about 3 years ago at a Black Friday Sale at Wal-Mart. As I was about to watch TV after a long day of final exams, there was suddenly a sizzling sound with smoke raising from the TV. I immediately ran, turned the TV off and unplugged it, It seemed as if it was going to catch on fire. It had a smoked wire smell. After a couple of minutes I turned TV back on only to see a faded Polaroid, faded input, and then a blank screen while I could hear the sound of the cable program I was watching.

As a returning student, I am in no position to purchase or even repair a TV right now. I thought TVs lasted longer than this without such sudden issues. This is my first time ever seeing a TV actually go out like this. I guess we will not have a bedroom TV for a while and I hope someone does something about all of these exact same complaints on this website. It makes no sense.

I bought a Polaroid TV (model TLA01911C) at Walmart on April 2008 (it was manufactured February 2008). It constantly pixelated out and had to be re-set. Now it has a beautiful picture and no sound. I reset everything, no sound. I tried another TV with same hook-upsworks great. Walmart/Polaroid is not a good combo. Polaroid just wants to sell me a new TV at lower price. It says "internal components failing"; no, it failed. I asked why I would want to buy another of their TVs when they don't last more than 2 years. They didn't have an answer. They need to re-call/re-pair these lousy products. Class-action anyone?

42" Polaroid started on fire. Most of our families' electronic equipment is destroyed. I am writing this from a hotel because my family and I can't stay in our home. Our home now smells like burnt plastic, chemicals and is full of fire extinguisher dust. Our noses burn and lungs hurt. Two years ago we thought we got a got deal on black Friday. Right away we got a high pitch sound but thought, "that is why it was so cheap" It happened on and off when the volume would make a loud popping sound a hum or just no sound. We would have to unplug it so it could "reset" We are so lucky no was hurt or killed. I have leaned my lesson. I will always check customer options in the future and not worry so much about a good deal. In the long run it cost way more. I just want people to know if this is happening to stop using their TV. Someone could have a different outcome and actually get hurt or worse! Don't buy Polaroid. There are so many posts with similar problems!

My Polaroid 37" LCD flm-373b was purchased 11-06. It now has a picture only in pastel colors pink, yellow, orange, lime green and no sound. The TV is only four years old. I have sent it in for sound not coming on before, now this. What a rip off!

It sounds like we all had the same experience. I too bought a Polaroid 32" HDTV Model #FLM3201, paid over $800 for it and after two years one morning, I turned it on and got sound but no picture. I called Polaroid and they offered to sell me a refurb at over $400. By that time, the TVs had dropped so I ended up buying a new one, not a Polaroid. I am done with their shoddy products and their poor customer service.

I bought a Polaroid LCD 42"(model TLX04240B) on Black Friday in 2007 at Wal-Mart. I turned it off, now it will not turn on. I called Sears. The repair man opened the TV and tried to fix it but he told me that he could not, then charged me $54. The repair man did not even get me to sign a work order!

In Dec 2006, we purchased a 40" Polaroid TV for my parents thinking this would most likely be their "last" TV as it should last for years. Wrong. Before it was 2 years old, it went out. It turns out it was the capacitor and Polaroid said they would repair if they would ship it back. Here, two 70+ year old parents had to take to a shipper and pay over $80 to ship it back! Several weeks later, after several calls by my father, they finally got "their" TV returned only to find it was a refurbished model, not the one they returned. Now, in the past 2-3 months, the refurbished TV has developed a spot on it and interferes with the viewing. I definitely feel there was a problem with this model and class action suit might be in order. I would love to have the $900 + tax I paid for this TV returned! It still wouldn't compensate my parents for all the aggravation. Polaroid - never again!

Bought 42" Christmas 2008 by August 2010 screen started going black but still plays the sound! This TV also makes my energy bill over the budget.

I purchased my 32" Polaroid LCD TV on Black Friday of 2007. I never once had a problem until, ironically, exactly 3 years later to the day, Black Friday of 11-26-2010. I was watching the news and a plume of smoke rose from the back of the TV. The screen went black but still had sound. Immediately, there was a burning smell and I unplugged the unit right away. On Black Friday of 2008, I purchased four Polaroid 40" LCD flat screen TVs of which three of them were gifts. I now hold my breath in hopes that the recipients do not experience the same issues. However, from the complaints posted here, it may be inevitable. How can we initiate a class action lawsuit? Repair was estimated at approximately $250.00. Who knows when the next breakdown would happen? I replaced the TV today at a cost of $298 plus and not with a Polaroid.

I also purchased a Polaroid 42" set on Black Friday from Walmart, and I am now finding out that hundreds of people are having the same issue that I am having with this TV. The picture shuts off, but the sound is still present. I contacted Polaroid to find out the resolution to this and was told repairs would cost me over $400. So for the last year, I've been able to watch 20 minutes to an hour of a program before the picture shuts off (if it cuts on in the first place). I've also seen a couple of sites that had the fix to this issue. Negative. It didn't work for my case.

I purchased a 42" Polaroid LCD and within 1 year, the picture went black. The sound works but the picture doesn't. The TV has been sitting for 8 months and I have finally decided to try and get it fixed. The repair cost is ridiculous! I purchased it at Walmart in 2008 on Black Friday. Apparently, they sold a ton of defective Polaroids in 2007 and 2008. I'm contacting an attorney to see what can be done.

Polaroid 42" also just went black, still have no sound. Has anyone filed an official complaint yet?

I purchased a Polaroid 32 inch LCD TV. A little after a year, the TV had the black screen with sound. I had it repaired for a little over $150.00. Approx. 6 months later (Now), it's the same problem.

My wife and I purchased a 32" flat screen TV from Walmart in Haley, MA about a year and half ago. The screen started flashing blackness over about 90% of the screen size, but you can still hear everything perfectly clear. Our inability to view our TV as well as concerns of a potential fire hazard have led to our unplugging and removal of the unit from our bedroom.

While watching my 32" TV .the screen went black and smoke came out of the top. It has voice, but no picture. It should work for more than a year and a half.

My son was watching a DVD when he heard a sizzling sound, thick gray smoke poured from the top rear of the Polaroid TV (Model TLX03210B), and the screen went black. He tried to turn the TV off, however, it went right back on! We unplugged everything and moved it outside in case of fire danger. There was a strong electrical burn smell. The machine was manufactured 9/2007, purchased from WalMart Nov 2007. Have been unable to get through to Polaroid for "any" response.I suspect from other posts that we will get no satisfaction and will have to replace the thing ourselves. No more Polaroids for me!

I purchased a modest size (19") flat screen Polaroid TV/DVD combo last spring (6-7 months ago) at Walmart in Brunswick ME. It was about $210 in total cost as Walmart was apparently eliminating this product from their offer. I do not watch TV on a daily basis and even when I do it is for 2-3 hours per day at most. I use the DVD player twice a month or so. In other words, this little puppy is not abused.

Last week the remote stopped working. I replaced the batteries thinking that was what could be wrong but no luck. No power. I'm operating this TV manually and, after reading all about the complaints with Polaroid TV products, I guess I should be expecting the TV to start a fire soon or completely stop operating. The complaints state that neither Walmart nor Polaroid will stand behind this product. What to do?

The television only worked for two years. It blacked out. The representative informed me the LCD is defective. This is a known problem by the company. Insult to injury they refuse to refund my money for the useless part they sold me. These people are cheating the consumer by selling a defective product, then selling them a useless repair kit. This product should not be on the market, and all of the consumers should be refunded.

I paid $600 plus for the television that worked for just two years. The company, Polaroid, knew the television was defective. They sold me a $200 repair kit. They declared the television was not repairable. They refused to refund my money. After looking online at the numerous people who suffered the same problem it is clear that the company, Polaroid, is knowingly cheating people.

I purchased a 42" HDTV in 2008. After one year, the picture disappeared. When I contacted the manufacturer, I was told that my warranty has already expired. Upon contacting Walmart in PA, I was told that there was nothing that they can do. I called the manufacturer back and they said that I need to pay for $200 for all parts and labor. The catch is that it is only guaranteed for 90 days. The TV broke again--this time, it has no sound. They are very poor quality and should last more than a year. Yes, let's sue them. They offer no help or resolution.

About two years ago, I purchased a 37" Polaroid flat screen/LCD TV. About eight months ago, it started buzzing and coming on slowly. Shortly after that, it wouldn't come on. I called a repair man and he said that the power board had gone out. I had it replaced and the TV worked fine for about four months. The TV screen started going black, but the sound was still there. Every now and then, it would come back on. Now, the picture will not come back on, but the sound is there. After reading all the other posts, I'm afraid to even try it again. Sounds like Polaroid is producing a boat load of lemons!

I purchased a 32-inch TV from WalMart in 2007. Suddenly, one day about a year after the purchase, the DVD player did not work though every time you turn it on it pretends to attempt to work. Now, October 30, 2010, we had the TV on and it was working fine. We left the room and turned the TV off. We came back about an hour later and turned on the TV. You could barely see the word Polaroid even come on and there was a brief time of some brightness but within a minute, the entire screen was black. Each time you turned it on, it was the same thing.

I called the number on the warranty paperwork knowing it was out of warranty. That number kept reporting it was disconnected. I used the Polaroid digital camera number and was able to get to the TV customer service area. After speaking to numerous customer service representatives who basically had me take most of the TV apart looking for some number on the TV that was not there. Then they determined which part I would need based from the color of the connections located in the power box inside the TV after I removed it. I agreed to the $222 cost to get the part because of course, it was out of warranty. They assured me that the part would go out the next business day. I got confirmations in my email. They charged my debit card on 11/1/2010. There is a $100 refundable core deposit which they claim will be returned to me if I return the part at my cost to them within 30 days.

After two weeks and with no part, I called them to see where my part was. I got a very rude man named Eric who basically said they didn't know what part to send me. They had apparently left some sort of message probably using IP voiceover phone systems and we got some very quiet garbled message the day after they charged my account which we could not even tell was them. I still am not sure. Eric claims they left us a message, whatever. So here we are 11/13/10 and I have called to see where my part is. The warehouse is closed on Saturday. I tell him that shouldn't matter because this was ordered and charged against my account two weeks ago. I want the tracking number to find out where my part is. He says he will check to see if the part went out and will speak to his supervisor. He comes back on the line and tells me the part is shipping out on Monday and should arrive in a week or so.

Of course, I go ballistic and say what you mean. It hasn't even gone out yet. His comment was "Well, we didn't want to send the wrong part because then you would be dissatisfied." I said, "Like I am now, you mean?" I tell him I want to speak to his supervisor. He tells me to hold. Then he comes back after I have been holding 5 minutes or so and tells me that there is no supervisor there today. "What do you mean? You verified with the supervisor that this part is shipping on Monday so how can you now say there is no supervisor?" He says, "Well, what do you want me to do". I told him that I want the part shipped priority at their expense as I have been waiting over two weeks for a part promised in 7 to 10 days. According to Cheryl, it will likely arrive way before then. He tells me that they cannot ship priority because they don't have that kind of account with UPS. I tell him that is **** and asked again to speak to the supervisor. He says, "Oh, you want to speak to the supervisor? Ok, I will get him". I was held 5 to 10 minutes longer.

Eventually, Eric comes back and says that the supervisor is not available and that she is on a call queue and he cannot transfer me. I am beyond furious now. I go around and around with him about his supervisor, who he has told me was a guy, then a girl, then not in today, then on a call, then her call queue was full and he could not transfer my call. I tell him in no uncertain terms that I want a call back. He says he will forward the message and the supervisor will get back to me when she is available but no one ever called back!

To make this situation even more sick, we purchased a 19-inch Polaroid TV for our daughter for her 19th birthday 1.5 years ago. It does not work, will not power up and they have told her that there is nothing they can do for her. It has been broken for nearly a year. Since she lives in another state, I cannot handle this for her because no doubt the entire TV must be taken apart to find some part number that does not exist. The crap this Eric told me about the call queue is ****. I have been in charge of our phone team at work for 7 years. We have a call queue system and there are unlimited numbers of calls that can be placed into any call queue system. Plus at any given time there should be a supervisor available so even if he or she left another supervisor should have been available.

I purchased a 32" LCD TV/DVD combo from Walmart in 2007. It was a big mistake! The DVD player stopped working within a few months of purchase. Recently the TV gave out a large puff of smoke, from a corner at the top, and the screen turned black. It seems a capacitor there has burned out. Fortunately someone was there to quickly unplug the unit and prevent a possible home fire. Do not bother to contact Polaroid, they will attempt to basically sell you a $300+ fix to a $2 capacitor! Polaroid should be compelled to issue a recall / replacement of this potentially dangerous and in every way defective product.

I was watching TV with my son and all of a sudden, I heard a popping noise and the screen went black but sound was coming out. The picture came back on then it happened 30 seconds later but this time, I smelled smoke and the screen stayed black this time. I called Polaroid and they told me they would send a capacitor/power supply for $222.99. I don t know if I should repair it or get a new one, and not have to worry about the hassle of it happening again.

I purchased two Polaroid TVs, one 36 inch and one 42 inch, both flat screens on Black Friday in 2007. I spent almost $2,0000. I purchased the 36 inch for my parents for Christmas. Now, I get a call from my mom that the TV only has a black screen and sound after a popping noise and smoke came out from the back. I feel someone should do something about this. These TVs should last longer than 3-4 years for that kind of money. I want my money back!

I purchased a 32" LCD TV/DVD combo from Walmart in July 2008.

A week ago, the TV stopped working. There is a sound but no picture (black screen). I plan to contact Polaroid and have them fix it but I don't know if they will though. I had to purchase another TV and when I went to Sears, the salesman told me that these TVs should last about 20-25 years. Polaroid should be held responsible for faulty products.

I put the TV on and my daughter started to scream in a panic, "Mommy, the TV is smoking!". The screen was black, there was sound and the smoke was pouring out of the top. Thank God I was home. My house could have burned down. The TV has been unplugged and I'm calling Walmart and Polaroid tomorrow (and CBS).

So we bought a 32-inch flat screen TV from Walmart and the DVD player didn't work. I took it back and 6 months later, the next one did the same thing. Well, I figured why bother taking it back again, and now we are two years in and the thing started smoking and the picture went black. I did some research online and this appears to be a common problem, but Polaroid is doing nothing to remedy this or reimburse those who purchased their faulty product.

I bought a 42" Polaroid TV in June 2006 from Wal-Mart. In June 2010, I turned the TV on and the blue screen said "no signal." Thinking it was a problem with the satellite, I tried all of the problem solving techniques. When they didn't work, I called for technical support. When they couldn't help, they said it must be the television itself. It never occurred to me that a 4-year old, $900 TV would be broken. I took it to a repair place and found that it was a burned out motherboard.

The repair cost $185, but the TV played just fine for 90 days, which was 30 days longer than the warranty. Again, I turned on the TV and the blue screen with "no signal" appeared again. Today I bought a Vizio. After reading so many complaints, it might be time for a class action suit.

The Polaroid 42" TV bought in 2007 had had trouble with picture. It's snowy and turning pink and half screen when first turned on. It seems like Polaroid cannot make TV. Sorry, I purchased this one for over $700. I bought it from Walmart.

Our Polaroid flat screen TV started messing up about four months ago. I'm scared to turn it on! We bought it from Walmart. It is almost three years old. First, we would turn it on and there would be a high-pitched scream until it "warmed up". Then a lot of loud static as the picture tried to stay on the screen. Loud, quiet static and picture popping on and off the screen! Once it was on, it would be fine for a few hours.

Then, out of the blue, the perfect picture would start to pop on and off the screen along with the noise. The screen goes black and the sound is still going. Now this week, if I try to turn it on, the blue light will go light blue and the Polaroid name comes up for a split second and then the red off light comes on. I try unplugging, adjusting wires and still blue light turns red just as quickly as I touch the button to turn it on.

I have never seen smoke. I have smelled what I call a "hot" smell. Like the smell of hot plastic. I heard a very loud ear piercing screech and a loud pop and that was when the T.V. was plugged in and off! Now it just sits in the living room not being used because I'm scared. $1000.00 down the drain for a hazardous television. I will never buy a Polaroid product again. I will never buy a TV. from Walmart again. FYI: my sister bought a Samsung flat screen and it lasted exactly one year. Something unsafe is going on with both products. I was cheated by this company.

I have a 2007 Polaroid TV. It start making a popping sound, numbers and letters began to go across the screen in black and white, sound just stop completely. It still have beautiful picture, but no sound, only popping noise from TV.

On 7/2/08, I purchased a 32" Polaroid TV with attached DVD player from Wal-Mart. Including tax, this cost me $733.45. I don't watch much TV and only used the DVD player once. My TV still has the sticker on it! In October 2010, I was listening to the TV from another room and when I looked at the screen, it had turned black, but there was still sound.

I called Polaroid and they told me to unplug the TV for an hour, and then plug it in again. I left the house for a few hours, returned, plugged the TV in and it worked about an hour before going black again. I unplugged it and tried again the next morning, to see if it worked. This time, I didn't even get the white Polaroid to come on. Called Polaroid again and was told that there was nothing they could do. I then called Wal-Mart, explaining that a TV should last more than 2 years. They said since I didn't purchase an extended warranty, they couldn't do anything.

I explained that I had TVs since the mid 1980's that still worked! Why would I assume that the TV would go on the blink after 2 years of very light use? I'm out $733 and would really appreciate it if someone would file a class action suit. A friend, who has twins, purchased 2 Polaroid TV's and after 6 months they both went on the fritz. One has a black screen and the other a pink screen. Told her to save her receipts in case there's something someone can do about this. I even still have the box and paperwork that came with the TV!

I purchased a "Black Friday deal" Polaroid TV in 2008. It went black within a year and I called customer service. They sent a repair technician and it could not be repaired. They sent a new one (or so I thought), but really, I got a refurbished one. It started acting weird 2 months later, and then went a weird green in highlighted areas. I called customer service again and said it was no longer under warranty, but I could pay $200 to have them come and fix it, and it would be warranted for 90 days! This was a year ago and we still put up with the TV. It fixes itself for a while then goes green for a while. It's really frustrating and too expensive for someone to come look at it, and it's too big for most repair shops! I hope they no longer make TVs because theirs are just a piece of junk!

I purchased a Polaroid 32" TV/DVD combo from Wal-Mart in September of 2007. My TV just went out. A large cloud of smoke came out the back and now I have sound but no picture. This TV is only 3 years old. I tried to contact Polaroid but they keep getting a run around online and over the phone. Is there any one to contact about this problem? I paid over $700 for it retail. If I have to replace it, it will be at least that much to replace. I can't get any advice from Polaroid where to take it for repair, so I don't have a repair estimate.

In Oct. 2008 I bought a Polaroid TV/DVD player from Walmart. At six months and 2 days after purchase, the DVD player stopped working. With only a six month warranty, no one would help me. Two months ago, the remote stopped working. After reading other Polaroid posts, I supposed that I'm lucky to be able to use the TV. I will keep a fire extinguisher close by, however.

Purchased a Polaroid TV flat screen less than two years ago and it just wouldn't turn on, flm373b is the model number. The TV is on a power surge strip. The cable company came out 3 times. Please help me or advise of next step. Thank you.

Like so many others, the Polaroid TV/DVD purchased from Walmart in 2007 just went out. Heard a popping sound, the screen went black but there was sound. I unplugged the TV and then plugged it back in and there was no sound or picture. I did not contact Walmart or Polaroid. After hearing the other horror stories why bother?

I purchased a 42 inch Polaroid TV from WalMart in 2007 as well. Now, my TV won't come on; before it went completely out, it started making a humming noise and different colorful lines going up/down my screen.

Our flat screen is making high-pitched noises. It seems like there are lots of the same complaints on the web. So one would see this as a defect and should be recalled and replaced. TV is 1-2 years old and we paid a lot of money for it. We should be enjoying it instead of complaining about it or spending any more money to fix it. Polaroid needs to step up and fix this problem. Folks are spending hard earned money on a product that should last more than 2 years. There are many complaints about the exact same thing. It seems like a product defect but Polaroid obviously continues to sell them to consumers who go thru the same thing.

I purchase a Polaroid 42" flat screen TV approximately two years ago. While watching it, black smoke started coming out of the top of the machine. Then, no picture. I was forced to pay $222.00 to buy a new controller. Wal-Mart would not help. There are 1,000 other stories just like this one.

Okay, now I have read all of these and although I don't recall smoke, I too have a black screen. I am going to call Polaroid today and give them one chance. I will then investigate if there are any current class action suits against them and if not, I am willing to look into getting one started. If anyone is on board and interested in joining my effort, please email me at **************@yahoo.com! Wish me luck, if I have success. I will report how to get it done on this website!

My Polaroid 32" LCD had a fire yesterday. Thank God I was home because if I wasn't, I would not have a home right now. I have the receipt and I paid $700 for this TV and it is now outside.

Polaroid will not help me. If the house had burned down, my home owner's insurance would be suing Walmart and Polaroid for the fire their product caused. I am **. I will go to the Channel 9 News crew and report this. I know them all, and we will get results. I'm out $700 and has no TV. A sizzle noise, then smoke came out of the top of the TV. I did not have anything hooked up to it but the cable, so it's their fault.

I was watching TV & all of a sudden a boom & a puff of smoke, then no picture. The DVD stopped playing 6 months after the purchase. I will never purchase a Polaroid again.

We bought a 42" Polaroid LCD TV from Walmart in late 2007 and gave over $700 for it. This week, it quit working--black screen with sound. Walmart does not stand behind this product and says to call Polaroid. I will not buy another Polaroid product. Now, we are without a TV.

I bought a 32" Polaroid LCD TV from Walmart in August or September of 2007. I still have receipts in my bank statements. It's not even three years old when a big puff of smoke came out the top back of it and the screen went black. I now have a TV that has sound but no picture. I called Polaroid and they want $122 to fix this. Apparently, from what I see online, there are many people with the same problem. I should not have to pay for this repair as it is clearly a default in the capacitor that was installed. There should be a recall on this or something to compensate for all the extra time it took me to pull the ** thing out and research this problem. My parents still have a TV that is 25 years old and has never had a problem. Please advise.

TV picture turned black and made a hissing sound and smoke came billowing out.

I bought a Polaroid 42-in TV at Wal-Mart in Portland, Oregon in 2007. In May of 2010, my Polaroid TV actually caught on fire. I was terrified at the thought of what might had happened if I would not been home when this TV caught fire. I contacted Wal-Mart where I bought the TV and was told that I would have to contact Polaroid if I wanted anything done about the TV. As of today's date, October 18th, 2010, no one from Polaroid has contacted me. The TV no longer works. I have put it away and refuse to get rid of it until someone is willing to look into this matter for me.

I purchased a 32" Polaroid LCD TV (model TDA 03211C) from Walmart on June 2007. I paid about $700 for it and after about four to six months, the DVD player stopped working. It now has sound but no picture. After reading all these reviews, it is very upsetting. $700 is a lot of money for our family. I think a TV worth this amount should last longer than three years!

I fixed mine! Mine started smoking too and I took it apart and found a visually burnt capacitor on the power module (the circuit board that connects to the lights that back light the screen). I searched around and found out what the numbers meant and bought a new one with extra capacity for $2 from an online electronics outfit (less than $5 shipped) and has been fine now for 6 months. I am no electronics genius, but know how to melt solder to replace a part and know when a part looks and smells burnt. I wish similar luck to others.

I bought a Polaroid 32-inch TV/DVD television at Walmart in 2008, manufacture dated January 2008. The screen went black, but I can hear the sound. What am I supposed to do about this? I paid a lot for this TV and it didn't even last a year and a half.

I also purchased a Polaroid 42in Flatscreen w/built in DVD from Walmart in 2007. The TV works but the DVD is dead as a doorknob.

I bought a Polaroid LCD TV 32-inch from Walmart in November or December of 2007. It's not even 3 years old and a big puff of smoke came out the top back of it and the screen went black. I now have a TV that has sound but no picture. The DVD player on it lasted long enough for me to watch one movie on it. Should have carried it back then.

I now no longer have a TV to watch in the evenings after a long day of work. I feel like I wasted $600. I can't afford to buy another one.

I purchased a Polaroid FML-1517 model at Walmart. I had it a year and a half then the picture started going out and now, nothing. I have never purchased a television that had such a short life span. I had it plugged into a surge protector and everything. It's not worth the money I spent and I will not buy this brand again.

Darwin of MI had same story and same TV bought in CA in 08/2007.

I have a Polariod 32" LCD model# TLX-03210B TV, I got for Christmas gift. This morning, I heard a sound of something like steam coming out of a pipe. I started to walk to the bathroom and seen smoke coming out the back to the TV. My wife asked me if something was burning because it smelt like burnt rubber. The screen will come on then start fading from the center out, until totally black in about three seconds. The sound still works but the picture is totally gone.

Like many of you on here. I could not believe how many similar stories on here sounded "exactly" like mine and what happened to my family. I just purchased a Polaroid flat screen 42" LCD screen from Wal-Mart that was Polaroid manufacturer and it was still under warranty when it went on the blitz! I spoke to the manager at Wal-Mart and he informed me that they no longer purchased TVs from Polaroid and that I would have to call Polaroid. He was of no help to me at all. Why don't we all get together and file a "class action suit!" Further, how come no one is doing anything about this issue? Polaroid should be sued for all this mess!

Our small countertop size TV just went black. The sound is fine. Date stamp of August 2007. Does anything lasts beyond 1-3 years anymore? Life cycle of product has been cut short. It's an inconvenience to the US consumer.

I have a Polariod 32" LCD (Model: TLX-03210B) TV that I purchased on November 2007 at Walmart. I was watching TV last night and started to hear a sizzling sound. Then, smoke billowed from out of the top and then the screen went totally black--there was nothing except sound. Is there a recall or class action suit to file?

I bought a Polaroid TV from Walmart. I have had it a year and a half. I was watching TV when I smelled something. I looked up and the TV was smoking really bad. I could hear people talking, but the screen went black. Then it just went out. I need my TV. What can be done about it? Please respond soon.

The Polaroid TV is smoking really bad that we had to open the doors because the smell was so bad. Thank God I didn't' have my baby in here or went to the store and left the TV on, or I might not have had a home. What do they intend to do about the situation because a TV should not do that.

We have had this TV for maybe two years at the most. One day, went to turn it on and you could kind of see a red light in the middle of the screen and then it went all black. The sound is there but nothing else. I agree we should get a class action going for being cheated out of money. Always thought this was a dependable company but now I know better! Don't even consider buying one. Hot and steamy!

I purchased a 32" Polaroid LCD TV with built in DVD player. This only goes to prove you get what you pay for. This is a secondary TV that I don't use often, it probably would have quit working much sooner if I watched it daily. The DVD player quit working within days of the warranty expiring. Now, the TV sometime will turn on, other times, it won't. I have always purchased Samsung LCD TV's for my primary TV, should have spent the extra money, I'd have a TV that actually works.

I purchased my 40" Polaroid HDTV from Walmart in November of 2007. Just a few days ago, it simply stopped working and would not turn on. I tried unplugging it and nothing. After reading all of everybody's post, I realized that it was not just my TV. We need to get together and put through a class action lawsuit. I paid $940 for my TV (tax included) and am very disappointed that it no longer works. Does anybody know how to get this lawsuit in motion?

Like many, I am a frustrated owner of a 42" Poloroid LCD TV, that now is not working. This television is less than a year old and while my husband was watching it the screen went blank. After calling Poloroid's Customer service line, I was informed that I purchased this TV from Walmart when they were no longer considered an authorized dealer there for all warranties were null and void. WTH?! They would gladly sell me a 300.00 part which they determined was the main control box. The TV was 430.00. I asked if this was a common problem as I did not wish to sink more money into a product that was not reliable.

The customer service agent assured me that it was rare and could be due to power surges or dust. I asked what the average life expectancy was for their TV as I have an rca that is now 18 years old and still working in excellent condition. The service rep said a good LCD good only be expected to last about 4 years. I really wanted to ask if the good ones last that long and their product lasted less than a year. What does that say about the product they are selling, at least my better judgement kicked in and I chose not to order the part.

Thank God. Just out of curiosity, I googled Poloroid and wow! Thousands of complaints, same issue, same TV. Seems rather than rare it is their common practice not to honor warranties and their televisions generally play out from 9 to 18 months. My big question is when will they be forced to issue recall on this product!?

I had a 32" HD Polaroid flat screen from Wal-Mart from December of 2007. I had just turned the TV on and after being on for only 5 minutes, the video screen went black and then smoke came out of the top and back of the TV set. I shut it off and turned it on and the picture shows up slightly for 1-2 seconds and the screen goes black again. I do have sound but no picture. Big deal!

This should not be for TV that is only a couple of years old! Never buy another Polaroid product! Thanks a lot Polaroid because I do not have the money to buy another TV. A Realtor's salary these days do not cut it! I live in the country and it was my only form of entertainment to be able to watch a movie once in awhile! I see many similar stories about this product. People should be compensated from Polaroid!

I bought three (3) Polaroid flat screen TV's during a six-month period 24 to 30 months ago. Two were 38" and one a 42". All three are shut now. Two will not come on when turned on and the 42" comes on with a horrible buzzing sound and colored lines vertically on the screen. The cost to repair them would be around $300 each with virtually no guarantee. Polaroid should be out of business. Do not buy Polaroid TV's. They simply don't work and they will not stand by their product. I'm out of over $2500.

I bought a 46" LCD TLA Polaroid model flat screen in March of '08. It worked fine until April of 2009. I got 13 months of use out of it which was three weeks past factory warranty. I had purchased it brand new at Wal-Mart. I came home one day and it would not work at all. I called several times to the Polaroid Service Dept. and was told of possible problems that might be causing it to not function of which every one I tried without success. I have a job and had a hard time coordinating the possible fixes and solutions that their phone technicians were telling me to do so it took over a week to try all of them as it required me to go to Radio Shack several times to obtain fuses and misc. stuff they were telling me I needed.

When all attempts had failed, they simply quit calling me back although they would. It was incredible how many times their people would tell me someone would call me within 48 hours only to be calling them after that amount of time and getting no one. This went on for one month with the Polaroid technicians. As everyone knows who has experienced the runaround and lies from Polaroid, they do not have any service centers where you can get your TV fixed. The only solution they have is to offer you a guess as to what part you might need to make your TV operational again.

In my case, they decided that my problem was a bad power supply so their solution was to tell me I needed to pay them an additional $275 for them to send me a power supply. And a service technician from my area (rural Eastern Washington State) was to arrange to come to my house and install the new power supply and this was to include a $90 day extended warranty once completed.

Wal-Mart would do nothing for me since the one year warranty was three weeks past the warranty period. Finally I rented and on Friday May 29th 2009 I called Polaroid and paid them the money on my debit card to send the power supply and get it fixed. The Polaroid lady was very accepting and happy to take my money and process it right away and guaranteed that after the holiday weekend I would receive the power supply and within 72 hours a Polaroid service tech would contact me to arrange the time to come to my house and fix it.

The next week was coming to an end and I had not received any tracking number for the power supply or been contacted by no one with Polaroid at all. On Thurs. June 4th 2009 I finally was able to get a hold of someone at the Polaroid service number and was then informed that Polaroid had gone bankrupt over the weekend of the Memorial day holiday and was no longer in business. I was then told that the new company that had taken over was not going to honor any agreements that Polaroid had made prior to them taking over and I would have to take it up with Polaroid but would offer no information on how to contact them or any other info at all. I then contacted the better business bureau of Massachusetts and was told to file a complaint.

I did that and then was told that there was thousands of customers like myself and their was nothing they could do legally but put pressure on Polaroid to do the "right thing." They have no power to do anything for us as consumers. I was then instructed to contact the Mass. State Attorney General and spoke with them several times and tried to file a complaint to be told it was "Not really going to matter because there was so many customers like me and the recovery of anything was probably not likely since they were in bankruptcy."

I bought a 32inch Polaroid TV/DVD combo and six months after I had it tried turning on the TV and nothing would come on. I called Polaroid and they said where your warranty expired about three days ago and you will need to buy the part. So I bought the part after I could afford the part which was yesterday, 09/10/2010, and powered the TV on. And now I have two lines in my screen one horizontal and one diagonal. This has really been a horrible experience and would never by another Polaroid anything ever again.

I bought a 32" Polaroid LCD TV, and have had it for just under 3 years. While watching TV one day, I heard a hissing noise coming from the TV, and then saw a big puff of smoke from the back of the TV, as though it was on fire. Fortunately, there was no fire, but it was scary and something I've never seen from a TV before. The fact that this can happen, and apparently has happened to many others, is inexcusable. No more Polaroid purchases in the future. I lost of $500 on a fried Polaroid TV, and another $500 on the new TV.

I purchased a 40" Polaroid TV from Wal-Mart in August 2007. In a time span of 5 months, the TV's volume stopped working. I unplugged the TV and let it sit about a month before plugging it back up and it started working again. After another month of use, the same problem presented itself. I contacted Wal-Mart and was to contact Polaroid. By the time I got with someone at Polaroid, the one-year warranty had expired and I was stuck with a horrible TV. I will never purchase a TV from Wal-Mart or will I ever purchase a Polaroid (anything).

I bought a 42 inch TV about 18 months ago from Walmart. It acted funny right from the start, sometimes making a whistling sound when turned on. I went to Walmart and a clerk told me that Walmart did not sell them anymore because of complaints. As time went by, the TV got worse. The DVD player failed, a black bar started covering the screen in the middle of a program, it took forever to fire up with the remote, despite new batteries in the remote. Now it will not turn on at all..by the switch, by the remote...nothing. It has been a sorry TV and Polaroid should hang their head in shame. I see that Samsung is having some of the same type of problems. I suspect that the same company that made the TV's for Polaroid are making them for Samsung.

I registered a complaint yesterday about WalMart and Polaroid concerning a 46" TV. I went to WalMart and spoke with Marlene who was very considerate, took my information and asked me to come back the next day to talk to another WalMart representative. Today I went back to WalMart to see what could be done about my 6 month old Polaroid TV that is on the fritz. Gary (not sure of exact title) of WalMart was expecting me. He called Polaroid and got the same run-around that I got. WalMart was not aware that Polaroid was no longer warranting TV's or portable DVD players sold at WalMart and he stated that he would be getting hold of the corporate lawyers to see if they could pull all of Polaroid's mentioned items from their shelves and return them to Polaroid. There was a lot more to the conversation than I can possibly write here. Gary wrote down my personal contact info and said that he would do what he could for me. There were also a lot of interested bystanders listening in.

After doing some shopping, I was approached by one of customer service reps and was told that Gary commented on how well I was handling the situation and that he was going to do everything he could to make it right by me. After returning home, I received a call from Gary, telling me to bring in my Polaroid TV, that he would exchange it for a comparable TV, one with a warranty. I was shocked, my faith in WalMart is restored. Kudos to you ,Gary, for going above and beyond.

Polaroid, you should be ashamed, when you no longer had WalMart as an authorized dealer for your TV's and portable DVD players, you didn't bother to inform WalMart that you would not be honoring the warranties on those products, or to have a recall on those products. When implied that WalMart would pull your products from their shelves, you give them the run-around. Are you trying to go bankrupt?

Anyway, I will no longer be buying any Polaroid products from any store, and suggest that all consumers do the same! Take some responsibility Polaroid!

WalMart, good job, very good!

I bought a 46" Polaroid TV from WalMart in March 2010. Now, 6 months later, I am experiencing problems with the TV. I contacted Polaroid and the first representative that I talked with had the audacity to hang up on me. This happened after I got frustrated when he made the statement "I have some bad news for you, WalMart has not been an authorized dealer since 2009 which voids the manufacturer warranty". Grrrr! So now, I have to go after WalMart for basically selling me a TV illegally. But even with that said, I would have expected a $1,100.00 TV to last longer than 6 months. Watch out WalMart, here I come.

We purchased a 32-inch LCD TV/DVD combo TDA-03211C from WalMart in November 2008 and the DVD player went out within 6 months. In January 2010, we were watching it and it started smoking and quit working. I'm just thankful we were watching at the time it did this because if I hadn't unplugged it, it might have started a fire.

I purchased a 32" Polaroid flat screen in Nov of 2007 and as it has happened to many others, the video went blank and smoke came out the back after 21 months of use. The cost to fix the TV would not be a practical decision. I will not buy another Polaroid product.

I bought a 19" Polaroid television two years ago and it worked just fine until the day before yesterday (30 August 2010) when the screen quality began deteriorating beginning with streaks across the entire screen. Now, I will undoubtedly have to replace the TV set.

I purchased the 42-inch Polaroid TV, and 3 months after using it, it would just shut off. It has a built-in DVD player, and that too stopped working. I called Polaroid, and they sent me the "brains" of the TV and said a service man would call me and come to install it. I did get the "brains" of the TV; it was a gold metal box that looked like it would just slide in.

Well, I waited for the service man to call. After a week, I called Polaroid, and they said I would hear from him soon. To make a long story short, I called Polaroid every week. Finally, a supervisor spoke to me. She sent me a new TV. I was told to send the old one back and the "brains" they even sent me with FedEx slips, and they would pay for it. I never sent the TV back. I took the "brains" out--took out six screws that held it in the TV--and put the new "brains" in, and it works fine now. I got 2 TVs for 600, not bad. Just to let you know i called Polaroid for 3 months. It is not in my nature to do something like this. But they never got in touch with me to say they never got the broken TV back!

I as well have had my 37" Polaroid HDTV and it has gone out in just 3 years time. It started making a hiss noise to start out then a few days later the TV would not turn on. I was able to get it on at one point but then I could not turn it off without unplugging the set. This is the worst TV experience I have ever had to deal with and feel I should be compensated part of my $700 I spent as this seems to be everywhere and not just isolated. I will never buy another Polaroid product ever again including as little as film. I am **! I had to buy a new TV and spend another $700 to replace a TV that went out in just over 3 years.

Bought a 42" Flat screen TV from Best Buy in 2007. Less than 3 years later, every time the picture comes on there is a high pitched and loud whirring noise coming from the TV. It is very noticeable, even when my surround sound system is turned up. The issue used to only come up if the TV had been on a while, then someone turned it off then back on. Upon restart, if hot, the TV would make this same noise. Sometimes I could even tap the TV to get it to go away.

Now it is on permanently. I don't even use the TV's audio ever, so it is something to do with the lamps and/or fans in the TV. Going to try and take the back panel off to see if it is something I can fix. If not, I guess it is time to trash the TV since judging by the comments here, I don't even want to deal with the nightmare of Polariod's customer service, or lack there of.

I bought a 32-inch Polaroid TV from WalMart less than 3 years ago and now the TV went black but we can still hear the sound. Will never buy another Polaroid TV if it only last less than 3 years. Don't buy another Polaroid product!

Today our Polaroid 32in LCD went black while we were watching it. It still had the sound but just no picture. I'm out $600.

Today our Polaroid 42in HDTV went black while we were watching it. It still had the sound but just no picture. I guess by seeing all of these complaints I understand what has happened. Let's just keep sending letter to the economic branch of the government.

I purchased a POLAROID LCD TV from Wal-Mart in June of 2008. Over the last week the TV has decided to stop working. The screen is entirely blank and there is absolutely no sound. I have been purchasing electronic equipment for more than 50 years and I have never encountered a problem like this. How after spending $300 does a TV stop working after three years and when it's out of warranty. There appears to be no recourse from Wal-Mart or Polaroid for these lemon TV's. There needs to be a class action lawsuit to the consumers whole ASAP!

I purchased 32-inch HD Widescreen TV at Wal-Mart on 11/24/07. It has been less than 3 years and as I was watching, I heard a hissing sound and a cloud of white smoke billowed out the back of the TV and the screen went black. Still had audio. I pay $500 for a TV and it lasts less than 3 years. Sounds like a class action suit to me. I guess that the co. went bankrupt. Can anything be done?

I have said this before, unless people start to do something nothing will happen. I have written my attorney general in Iowa and was told there was not enough interest in the problem for them to do anything. I copied the complaints from all of you and sent them to the FCC. I was told the warranty was no good now. If everyone wrote to the consumer department in Washington maybe we can get someone to listen. Please do your part! I got a reply from Walmart that they don't handle the problem. I have not given up, I will fight until there is no fight. I paid 900 for my set that collects dust!

I purchased a 32" Polaroid HDTV/DVD television 2.5 years ago. The DVD went out on it about 6 months ago it didn't have 40 hours worth of use on it. Now, the family was sitting down watching TV and the picture went black, there was still sound no picture. I tried turning it on and off and then I didn't get anything. I thought Polaroid was a good product. Wal-Mart said it was a bad component and they quit selling them. Well too bad for those of us that thought Polaroid products were good. Now my family is out of a TV and finances aren't that great since I've lost my job, I can't just go out and buy a new TV and spend another $700. I'm really disappointed in the Polaroid company.

On July 16, 2007, we purchased a Polaroid 19-inch HDTV. It does not work. I can get sound but no picture. I paid Dish to come out because I thought it was a problem with Dish. It was not and was told it was the TV. I can't believe it would only last 3 years as we have had TVs for 20 years or more and they work fine. I am upset and will not buy another Polaroid product again. By the way, Rex's is out of business. I wonder why. Of course, it was made in China. What happened to good old USA products?

We bought a 32" flat screen TV/DVD combo at Wal-Mart in 2008. After about a year, the DVD quit working. Now, the TV is smoking and we have lost the picture. After reading 71 pages of complaints about the exact same thing happening, we are exasperated.

We waited several years to be able to afford a flat screen, and now we have no TV and can't afford to buy another. Mad and retired in Oregon

I have a Polaroid LCD TV. It is only 3 years old. It is making a ticking sound and the picture is blinking after I have it on for 30 minutes. I have read all the complaints about these TVs so I will not waste my time and money on these inferior products that might cause a fire and burn everything I have. There should be something that the law can do to make these companies pay for the losses people have to deal with.

I purchased a 42" Polaroid TV in November 2007, which now has a black screen but still has volume. I called Polaroid and they told me the same thing they told everyone else that it was the control box. It would cost $300.00 and we would have to install it ourselves. Once we installed the new control box, we could notify them and get a hundred dollar credited back. They told me to remember the price they gave me so when I am ready to order the control box, they would honor that price. They stated that they would also put a note in their system so when I called back, they would have all the information. I also asked if I purchased the control box and that wasn't the problem, could I return it for a refund? They said no, you will only get your hundred dollar credit back.

I just can't believe that this happened to so many people that have Polaroid TVs and they are getting away with this. Polaroid does not stand up to their product and I will never recommend anyone to purchase a Polaroid TV. I am very disappointed and I don't have the extra money to go out and buy a new TV or risk putting out money for a control box that's not guaranteed that it is the problem.

My 42" Polaroid TV was bought in 11/2007. A couple months ago, the TV would be running and all of a sudden, I would lose the picture. The first call to Polaroid, determined the problem to be the control box. The cost to have a tech come out & install it would be $250. Even though I gave them the serial #, they need a number from inside the TV which they said I could see without taking the back off. Of course, by the time I check this, the support office is closed. So, the next day, I called again. I tell the agent the numbers I can see.

Apparently, these aren't the right ones. So, I look again. Call #3, I still can't see any numbers like they want. Finally, call #4, someone who figures out what control box I would need. Again, reiterates the cost of $250 which at that time, I was hesitant to spend. I had other TV's so I wasn't in a hurry. Fast forward to today, 8/9/2010, a couple months later. I'm ready to get the TV fixed so I call Polaroid. Now the price has jumped to $500 or $300 for just the part! And remember, this TV isn't even 3 years old! I asked to speak to a supervisor and they can't speak to me, can I call back. I said no. I am done with Polaroid. My advice to everyone, stay away from Polaroid TV's! They are crap! And the customer service is no better!

We bought a Polaroid TV with a DVD player on Aug.17, 2009 and got the 2 year extended plan. Well on July 16, 2010, the TV went out and thanks to Walmart not telling us that they were no longer allowed to sell those TVs, we now have no coverage. Polariod won't fix it and neither Walmart wants to and nothing is being done about it. After we paid $698 for the TV and $119 for coverage, what should I do? This is so wrong of Walmart and their people to do this to customers.

I purchased a combo TV/DVD polaroid TV 3 yrs ago. I gave the TV to my grandmother whose old TV went black. Then she called me today to say the TV that I gave was smoking and went black on the screen. I told her I would go online to do research and, wow, 71 pages of the same problem!

I purchased a Polaroid 32" HD LCD TV/DVD combo. In less than 1-1/2 yrs ago, the DVD stopped working and now the TV does not work. There is no picture but the volume works. I called the customer support line and was told that a lot of TVs do the same thing. We have a lot of different brand of TVs and they have all lasted a lot longer than 1-1/2 years, some are at least 10 years old. The support said that they had parts that we could purchase. We asked if there was a main number that we could call to complain about the product and were told that the product was made by Preview and that the office in California had closed and the only office that we could call was in China. Well, so much for that except that we will never purchase another Polaroid product of any kind and we understand that the company really does not care. I cannot believe that with all the complaints that the company is not made to make good for such a worthless product.

I bought a 32" flat screen/LCD TV as a Christmas present for my husband at Walmart in November 2007. Yesterday afternoon, while I was watching television, it started making a hissing noise. Smoke came barreling out of the back of the TV and the screen went black. The sound is the only thing still working. This TV is less than 3 years old and I do not have the money to replace it. Polaroid ripped me off. And from what I have read, I am just one of many. Polaroid should be held accountable for this. I will never buy another Polaroid product again.

We purchased the 32" Polaroid LCD TV/DVD combo less than 3 years ago from Walmart and now, all of the sudden, you go to turn the TV on and after a few seconds, the screen goes black but you can still hear the sound. I started searching the web for a possible fix, thinking that maybe something just wore out on it, but it is pretty obvious, after finding this site, that this a common occurrence with this TV. I am enraged that Polaroid has not taken responsibility for the defect in their TV and sent out a recall. What a waste of money. I guess I have definitely learned my lesson and will never buy another product from Polaroid again.

I bought a 36-inch Polaroid HDTV in 2007, now the TV comes on and off by itself. I have to keep the television unplugged in order to keep it from turning on and off. I have a 3-year old television that I can't use. I took it to a TV repair shop and I was quoted $485.00 to have it fixed. Now I have a television that I can't watch and it is a electrical safety risk to keep it plugged up.

I purchased a Polaroid Television 32 inch flat screen and within two years the screen went completely black. I took the TV back to Wal-Mart and they told me since the warranty was no longer valid that I had to called the Polaroid Center. I called the center and they said I needed a control board that cost $250. I will never buy another Polaroid brand of anything. It is totally a rip off.

I too bought the Polaroid 46" TV on Wal-Mart Black Friday '08. It has had a few hiccups that didn't cause much of a problem. Now though, it will turn on, the home screen will come on then the TV will start. It could last 30 seconds, or all night but it will shut off on its own. I was trying to do something nice for my family and get them a "big" TV from Santa. Well, after reading so many people having the exact same problem and hearing that they have been ignored by Polaroid, it is very distressing. We have no warranty, and have been out of work for 11 months. No way we can afford to buy a new one or even get this one repaired. I too feel that a class action lawsuit should be filed against Polaroid since they have used lousy parts in the manufacturing of these TVs. A local electronics store had a SONY 50" HDTV on sale a few weeks after I bought this one for $50 more that I paid. I just couldn't squeeze any more money out to get that one. Too bad for us.

I bought a 32-inch LCD flat panel TV at Walmart for the price of $683. It is a Polaroid TV/DVD combo. I still have the receipt of purchase. The date of purchase was 3/20/08. I did have a problem with the DVD part of the TV approximately one month after I bought it. Polaroid did send me the replacement part and it worked fine for about two or three months. Then it quit working again so I contacted Polaroid again and they informed me that they could no longer help me with this problem but if I wanted, Polaroid would send me another DVD replacement part but I would have to pay for it.

Now on 8/2/2010, the TV screen went black on me and I do have volume. So now all I can do is listen to it like it's a radio. I called Polaroid on 8/3/2010 and they said there is nothing they could do except sell me the part that they think it is and it will cost me $289. The TV is only 28 months old and I paid a lot of money from my social security check to get this TV that should have never been sold with the problems it has. I would like to get this TV replaced to me at no cost whatsoever. Thank you for your understanding of this situation

We bought a 32" Polaroid Flat Screen with DVD less then three years ago. We have had the picture go out twice already. The first time it was under warranty and this time it is going to cost us $225 to fix it! The control box has gone out again. The customer service area is not helpful nor do they care that you have a faulty product and I have to wait 12 business days to even get the part. This is ridiculous and reading the others complaints infuriates me that Polaroid has not recalled and made this right with their consumers! I have a TV that does not work again.

I purchased a Polaroid 32 inch LCD TV/DVD combination at Walmart. After a few months of use, the DVD player started making a buzzing sound and no longer worked. The TV worked fine until a couple of weeks ago, the screen went black. I have sound but no picture. I called Polaroid customer service and was told to check the back of the TV to see if I could see a white light shining through. I said no.

The rep then told me that I needed a control panel which he would send me for $225.00. Once they receive my defective part back they would send me $100.00 back in the form of a rebate. The problem is that this TV is less than 3 years old and I do not have another $225.00 to invest in this piece of junk. What a rip off! I have been trying to escalate my concerns within the Polaroid company, but it appears that they have gone bankrupt. I have no idea as to what else I can do.

I purchased a Polaroid 42' LCD on Nov. '08 from local Wal-Mart. Recently, it started to have a black screen on left side when coming on. There are many lines running up, down and back and forth across the screen, with distortions. Turning off and on doesn't do much, but it will come on, stay on with picture at this time. If it's turned off for a few hours and turned back on it again, it has a black screen etc. My wife tells me she has noticed a strong burning plastic or electrical odor after it has been on for over an hour. (I have a poor sense of smell and can't detect the odor).

After finding this site and reading of others similar problems, I am quite angry and concerned. Wal-Mart hasn't carried this particular TV since the '08 holiday sale. Now I know why! I believe all of us need to contact Polaroid and really let them have it. What's going to happen if one of these catch on fire in the middle of the night and burn a house down? It's a crime that companies today can produce and sell such inferior products! We have not tried to contact anyone about the problem as we figured no one would even try to do anything. Funny, at the time I bought this, my wife said I shouldn't buy Polaroid! I guess it does pay to listen to the ladies!

I brought the TV from Black Friday on Nov. 2008 and about 3 months ago, the TV screen went black but the sound still works. I think that they need to look more into the customer's complaint and do a recall on the TV. In the future I will never purchase anything from Polaroid again.

My TV just started smoking from the top of the TV 32" Polaroid w/DVD player flat screen (TDA-03211C). I just purchased it from Walmart 1 1/2 or 2yrs ago. This is **. This needs to be a recall due to all the complaints on this TV. I will never buy a Polaroid again because they do not stand by their name/products when things go wrong. I bought it from Walmart on Roxboro Rd. in Durham, NC 27704 which has now moved to Geer Street in Durham, NC 27704

In November 2007, I purchased a Polaroid 27" TV from Wal-Mart. Several months after purchasing the TV, the screen went black, had sound and no picture. We contacted Wal-Mart, they informed us that they did not do TV repair or warranty work, we had to contact Polaroid. Polaroid contacted after several days of run around. They informed us that they would send a repair person to our home. A week or so later, a service man from Sears arrived and told us Sears did service for Polaroid. He checked the TV and informed us that we needed a computer board and we would have to order it from Polaroid. we did this and several weeks later, the part showed up. Sears contacted and several days later, the service man returned and replaced the part and the TV still did not work, service man said that was all he could do.

After several calls to Polaroid and getting the run around, we contacted Wal-Mart and after several threatening and very heated conversations with several managers at Wal-Mart, they contacted us and said Polaroid will be replacing the TV with another one. After several weeks, the new TV arrived in early Janauary 2008. Great TV and nice picture, we thought.

A week ago the screen went black and no picture, same problem as the other TVs. After searching the Consumers Affairs web site, we noticed hundreds of other ** that were ripped off and robbed by Polaroid. If the common person had done something like this, they would be in court and jail, and lose everything they had. What or who gives Polaroid the right to rob and cheat the honest hard working person that wants to provide something for their families.

If any class action suits come up against Polaroid, I hope I have knowledge of them. I have several cents worth of hatred to supply to them. This TV was purchased from a small inheritance from my wife's mother. She is very upset to think the last thing she received from her mother is a [bad product]. With the bad economy and lost jobs, replacing the TV is impossible.

I too bought a Polaroid TV from Wal-Mart on black Friday of 2008. I also had the TV go to a black screen and it smelled like something electrical was burning. Now the TV will try to come on with the Polaroid start up screen only flashing and then going blank again.

I purchased my 32"inch Polaroid TV in July 2007. After a year, the built in DVD player, stopped working. I was upset, but still loved my TV. I received numerous compliments on how great the picture quality was. Well, that picture quality died on July 20, 2010. The screen went black w/just sound. However, now its completely dead, no sound or pic. I cannot believe that after paying close to $700 for this TV, it dies 3 years later. I am so upset, this is just wrong.

On July 25, my Polaroid 42" LCD HDTV went blank (black screen). I turned it off. After a few minutes, I turned it on. Picture came back. Then a few minutes later, it went out and the TV began smoking. I unplugged it. It smelled like burnt plastic. I got online and found this site with numerous similar complaints. There should be a recall! These TVs are dangerous. I emailed and called Walmart where I purchased the TV (as most others did). The mgr did not return my call as of yet. An email reply just said contact local store manager. I am very mad that my $650 TV is now junk (1 year 8 months after purchase). Shame on Walmart and Polaroid!

I am unemployed. My roommate is on disability. We cannot afford to replace this TV.

My husband bought me a 36-inch Polaroid flat screen TV one and a half years ago. Last week while watching a movie, the TV went blank with only sound. Then smoke began to come from the back of the TV. I was crushed. I went to Wal-Mart. Since I did not have receipt, I was told that they could do nothing. They wouldn't even give me a website or number to call. I saw this site and now I see that I am not alone.

I purchased a Polaroid TV from Circuit City in McLean, VA in May of 2008. Yesterday, July 26, 2010, the picture went black. In trying to fix it (through Verizon FIOS, our cable company) the sound disappeared. Circuit City has since gone out of business. I must now purchase a new television to replace what appears to be a piece of junk.

I bought a Polaroid 32" LCD TV/DVD combo about 2.5 years ago from Wal-Mart. After 6 months, the DVD player started making a grinding noise and then stopped working altogether. Then just yesterday, my screen went black and I can't see a picture, only hear sound. Six hundred dollars, the TV down the toilet. I took it to be fixed and was told that it was a "capacitor" which could only be ordered from Polaroid for $560 and which is the only part that can be ordered for this type of TV from Polaroid. How the heck can the replacement part cost as much as the TV? It seems like Polaroid knows they have a problem with their TVs and are trying to capitalize on it.

I called the product support line and was told they have never had any complaints like this, and there is nothing they will do because it's out of warranty. I find this extremely hard to believe considering I've found thousands of complaints on here and through the Better Business Bureau. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold for 30 minutes only to be told there was not one available. I asked who I could escalate this to and was told that there was no recourse available.

Apparently, Polaroid is sweeping this under the rug. Please be sure to go onto Polaroid.com and make a complaint through the contact link so they cannot deny this problem anymore.

I bought a 40" Polaroid LCD HDTV from Walmart in September 2008 and much like the other posters on this site, the screen went blank and I can only hear the sound. I paid $700 for this T.V and am heartbroken that I have no recourse. Walmart will not return it so I sure hope Consumer Affairs is able to help.

I brought a 42" Polaroid TV Model # tlx-04011c on September 2008 from Walmart. And that's almost 2 years ago. This Friday, the TV just blink out try to turn it on and the light will turn green but the TV won't come on.

I bought a Polaroid TV model TDX-02610B LCD TV/DVD combo less than 2 years ago. After purchase, the DVD player would not work half the time. And the area that holds the DVD player would get really hot, even though it was not in use. I returned the TV to Wal-Mart. They gave me another. After a couple of months, it has the same problem. The 90-day warranty ran out. I was told I would have to deal with Polaroid. That was a year and a half ago. The TV still worked, with no DVD player. I purchased a 32-inch RCA with DVD with less money. It is a much superior product. I would not recommend anyone purchase a Polaroid TV. If you have one, do what I did with mine. Cut your loss and toss it in the trash. That's where it belongs.

I bought this Polaroid TV at my local Walmart a few years ago. I was watching my flat screen last night. I heard a big crack, then black screen with sound. Then I smelled something like an electrical fire. I pulled the plug and started research on the internet for help to find this site where many have had the same experience. I can't believe I spent over 600 dollars as well.

I purchased a Polaroid 32 inches HDTV from Wal-Mart, 2 1/2 yrs ago and was watching TV when suddenly the screen went blank and I can hear sound only. I purchased this on Black Friday. I will never buy a Polaroid TV again. It is junk. Tlx03210b model #.

I spent $400 on this TV.

We purchased a new Polaroid 26" TV combo from Walmart on July 5, 2008; we also purchased a 2 year extended warranty. On June 30, 2010 at 4:30am when we turned the TV on it caught on fire; the TV was burnt and ruined our entertainment center and the carpet. We contacted Jackson, Ohio Walmart and they told us they couldn't do anything about it because it was after the 90-day warranty.

We contacted the extended warranty company and they told us we would have to ship the TV back to them, pay for the shipping ourselves, send them a check for $300 and they would send us a refurbished TV. We told the warranty company that is not what their warranty which we purchased from Walmart states. They said they didn't care, that was what we had to do. Wal-Mart is selling customers false extended warranties because what they have in writing is not what the warranty company will do.

Also, you cannot ship anything that is hazardous after it has burnt and had a fire extinguisher taken to it. Walmart knows that. We contacted Jackson, OH Walmart again and they told us there was nothing they could do and hung up on us. So here we are with no TV and a TV that was less than 2 years old when it burnt. Also after checking the Internet and also told by Walmart they quit selling this TV right after we bought one because of the problems with the TV being a fire hazard. Walmart knows people's houses could burn down and has done nothing about it and still refuses to replace our TV. We contacted the manufacturer of the TV "Proview" and they will not do anything either.

They said it is up to Walmart even though they also know there is a possible fire hazard with this particular TV. Proview also stated that they have quit manufacturing the TV as well and they could not refund our money nor replace the TV. This is wrong and illegal in our eyes. Why did we purchase the extended warranty then? It doesn't do what it says it does and Walmart will not answer those questions either. So how can we get our TV and things replaced?

I purchased a Polaroid television set in the middle of May 2008 and now the sound nor the screen will not come on. It just gives a white screen. The batteries in the remote lasted longer than the more expensive TV set. I am so frustrated because I paid good money for the set and thought that the name Polaroid meant quality.

I purchased a 42" Polaroid widescreen LCD HD TV approx. 2.5 years ago. It has stopped working and the Polaroid support people will not provide the appropriate assistance. It was not a power surge, the TV simply stopped working. They want me to pay for a new control board which only has a 30-day warranty and when asked if the problem happens again outside of the 30 days, the supervisor would not provide a response.

They will not look into a faulty equipment issue because they claim they don't have any complaints. Consumers please go to the Polaroid.com website and file your complaints through their e-mail system. They will not look into any recalls without our complaints and concerns.

I received this, my first HDTV, as a Christmas gift 3 years ago. The TV worked fine for about 6 months and was repaired under warranty. After repair, the TV would not hold the channels found in the channel search. This week, the TV just died. My daughter spent a lot of money on this TV as a Christmas gift for me so I am very disappointed to have to tell her that a TV that should have lasted for 10 years or better, has only made it 3 years. It is a pathetic TV. Do not under any circumstances purchase a Polaroid TV!

I bought a Polaroid flat screen TV less than two years ago, and now it will not work. It won't show any picture or make any sound. For days, it would act like it was coming on with the blue light shining, but now it won't even do that. The screen is totally black with no sound. This was not a cheap TV, and it is ridiculous that it is already torn up. I can't afford to buy another TV and I was so happy when I got this flat screen TV. I thought it was a great purchase. How wrong I was.

My husband and I bought a 32 inches LCD flat panel Polaroid television from Wal- Mart around two years ago, and it worked fine up until about 6 months ago. A black smear/streak appeared on the screen out of no where, which was disappointing, but we dealt with it. Until we woke up yesterday morning, turned the television on, and we had no picture at all. The screen will come on faded for a few seconds, then it goes all black.

We can hear just fine, but can't see a picture. I've been doing some research about Polaroid t.v.s online, and it seems that many people are having this exact same problem. I too agree that there should be a recall on these pieces of crap. So, if anyone is looking to throw their hundreds of hard earned dollars to the trash, I would suggest going to Wal-Mart, and buying a Polaroid television.

We paid 600.00 dollars for that TV. We have four children, and don't have the money to run out and buy a new one. So now, our family room has no television. On the positive side, we spend lot of family time together, go Monopoly, back to old school entertainment

We purchased one Polaroid 42 inch flat screen television 2 years ago at Walmart. This week, the picture went out and we only have sound. We've been turning it on all week and we get a half screen picture for 5 seconds then it goes black with sound only.

I, too, bought a Polaroid 42" LCD TV on Black Friday of 2008 from Wal-Mart. When it was about one year and six months old, the TV screen went black. We couldn't get an image on the screen. We had sound only.

I bought a 26-inch Polaroid LCD TV and it lasted about two years. Then, the screen started going black. Now, we don't have a good TV to watch. Thanks, Polaroid. And thanks to Circuit City, who, of course, is no longer in business.

I bought a Polaroid TV model TDX-02610B LCD TV/DVD combo less then 2 years ago. Three to six months after purchase, the DVD player would not work half the time and the area that holds the DVD player would get really hot even though it was not in use. It appears that because of the heat, it caused a dark mark on the screen. Fortunately, I was able to remove the player to prevent further damage in case it did cause the mark. Anyway, I sent a complaint about the DVD player online with no resolution.

Then about a month and a half ago, the screen went black as if it was turned off but the power button was blue (as if turned on) and there is volume, I can even change the channels and hear the TV, just no picture. It did go black before, so I turned the TV off and it worked; only this time it is for good. After researching a solution I came across a site that claims that it may be bad capacitors due to poor quality. Apparently Polaroid are notorious for this. Maybe this should be considered as a recall since there are so many problems resulting from poorly made Polaroid LCD TVs. I bought The TV because of the name thinking it would be a superior product. Besides wouldn't bad capacitors cause a fire? That would be dangerous if it did. I have no TV now as I cannot afford another one. Are TVs now disposable? Because it sure seems that way.

I bought a Polaroid 32-inch flat screen TV at Wal-Mart in November of 2007. I bought a service warranty, and it expired November of 2009. Just last week, the TV made a funny sound, started to smoke, and then the screen went black. Nothing. Luckily it didn't cause a fire, but who knows if that is just because we were home to unplug it. There were 2 witnesses to this. Now we have to go out, and by another TV, or move a very heavy traditional, 32-inch TV from upstairs to downstairs.

We purchased a Polaroid DTV HDMI Flat Screen TV, 32 inches. We have stripes down the left side of the TV and a black rectangle box in the middle of the screen. This TV is less than 2 years old. We have no TV for the family room now. Polaroid says it needs a component. The $450 spent was a waste of money.

I bought a Polaroid 32" Flat Screen TB from Walmart 18 months ago. I came home today with a black screen. After trying to troubleshoot it, now I have no sound to go with a black flat screen.

About 2 1/2 years ago I purchased a Polaroid 32" LCD HDTV w/ a built in DVD player from Walmart for $600. Nine months later the DVD player began making a clicking sound and wouldn't work. I called Polaroid and gave them all the related info and they said they would send me the part. 3 months later and no DVD player so I called back only to find out they have no record of me contacting them. Also, so sorry you are now out of warranty but we can sell it to you, no thanks. My fault I should've pursued it sooner.

Then I come home last week to find my screen has a big black spot in the middle when it's turned on then goes off after a few seconds. So, I contact the dreaded customer service dept. w/ my info. They told me that they cannot find my s# in their system and after double checking the number they tell they just don't know. Wait a minute! They built it but can't find it in their system? No worries they tell me because they can tell me over the phone that it needs a main control board. The board costs $250 and after I send them the old one I get $100 or so back. What? Yep you got it! They built [it] and they know what's wrong with it, even if they can't find it in their system, and I should give them some more of my hard earned cash! I too will be contacting class action lawyers and facebook and twittering this fraud!

I bought a Polaroid TV with the built in DVD player. The DVD player quit working after the first movie. Then there was a hissing noise and smoke poured out of the back of the TV, all this after the screen went black. We also purchased ours at Wal-Mart. The TV is only 3 years old. What a rip off.

Three yrs ago, we bought a 32" Polaroid LCD TV from Wal-Mart. About a year later, the sound got all static-ky and wouldn't quit. Polaroid wouldn't help us even though warranty was not up so Wal-Mart did what they do best (customer satisfaction) and swapped our TV out with a new one, same exact model and all. Today my husband got home and turned the TV on to find out when my daughter was watching it last night the screen went black on her with sound. Such a shame to spend $600 on a TV and it only lasts a maximum of two yrs. Very disappointed and will never recommend anything Polaroid!

I too fell victim to the Wal-Mart black Friday 42" LCD television scam. Six months later, no picture, no sound. I too contacted Wal-Mart and they stated that it is a black Friday item that they do not normally stock and will not accept any returns on these lemons. I too am out $750 and am holding onto mine awaiting the class action suit.

I too bought 40" LCD from good ol' Sam Walton. I tell you this; if you are in the market for a TV, buy name brand from a store that specializes in electronics. I am so hurt over this $900 I spent for a TV that lasted maybe 2.5 years. It really does ** that a company and merchant would show such blatant disregard for their customers. Oh well.

I purchased a 32" Polaroid LCD flat screen TV from Wal-Mart about 2 years ago and it worked fine at first. Six months later, I noticed a small black spot on the upper part of the screen. It continued to show good 'til this past Saturday. While I was lying in bed watching Judge Judy, the picture went black with sound. I turned it off for a while and turned it back on just to have it go black again. Now it shows nothing. That's it for Polaroid. I will never buy anything associated with Polaroid again!

I also purchased a 32" Polaroid flat screen TV and the picture went black just like everyone else's on this website. We are out of $700.00 for a 2 1/2 year old expensive TV! Class action now!!!

I bought a 32" HD widescreen LCD TV/DVD combo a little over 2 years ago. Just 2 night ago while watching TV laying down, the screen went black but still had sound. I tried to turn it off and then back on to see if it would come back on and still nothing. i guess after reading reviews there is not point of calling POLAROID. I know never to buy anything Polaroid ever again. Now, I'm out of a TV in my room until I can get one that's not something that I can just pick up and buy when I spent $700.00 on something that should of lasted a very long time, not 2 years.

We purchased a 42" flat screen television from Walmart in April of 2007. We paid approximately $850 for the television. The screen suddenly went black and would not turn on. We are upset that there are so many complaints from different people with the same problem. We would have not spent so much for a television if we had known the quality was this bad. In the process, we had to purchase another television (not from Walmart or a Polaroid) to replace the one that no longer works.

I purchased a Polaroid 42" TV from Walmart 2 years ago for around $800.00. And now, the screen has ghost lines, and Walmart will not honor the product. Do not buy anything electronic from Walmart or Polaroid.

This morning I got up and turned the TV on and the screen went black. So I turned it off and back on again and the same thing. After doing this two more times, I saw smoke coming out from the back of the TV. I ran over to turn it around. It had fire in it. I unplugged it and got it out. It just happened that I wasn't working today. If I would have, my house could have burned and killed my dog. I will never buy another Polaroid TV/DVD again. I'm just grateful I was home. Not only was I a nervous wreck because of this, but I'm out of $700.

My wife bought me a Polaroid TV as a homecoming gift for my return from Iraq in 2009. Suddenly, the screen is completely black when turned on. I had researched an answer so that I might fix the TV and I stumbled on this website only to find 65 pages of the exact complaint - 65 pages!

Where's the class-action attorneys on this one?

I purchased a Polaroid television that is trash! Don't buy anything from Polaroid.

I purchased a Polaroid 32" LCD TV from Wal-Mart 2 year ago and paid $729.29 with tax. The TV has sound and a barely visible picture. For $729.00, I feel so ripped off. I want my money back or a repair. I've seen 65 reviews so far, and most have the problem I'm having. This is wrong.

we bought a Polaroid Widescreen TV and it is only a little over a year old. this morning it caught on fire when we turned it on. Polaroid nor Wal Mart will do anything about it. So now what do we do? A TV should not catch on fire and especially not after a year.

My 32" TV/DVD combo stopped working out of the blue after only a year and a half. The Screen went completely black and will not show a picture. I've searched online and apparently there are tons of people with this same problem. Polaroid has horrible customer service.

We purchased a Polaroid 37" LCD TV at Walmart over two years ago and did not purchase an extended warranty. A few months ago we started having difficulty with the sound and last month the screen went black. I called Polaroid customer service and they told me I needed a new control unit for $250 and if I returned the old one, I would receive a credit for $100. The new control unit was received almost a month later and does not work. I had to take out the fuse from the OLD unit and put it into the new unit to even get a steady blue light. Still no picture and no help from customer service. They keep telling me that a supervisor will call, but it never happens. I am frustrated. This TV is a piece of garbage. I have sets in my home over 10 years old and they work fine. My advice is to NEVER PURCHASE A POLAROID TV.

Purchase 42" Polaroid HD tv about 2 yrs ago. the picture went black, but would still have the sound. I called Polaroid & was told the electronic parts don't last forever. I would have to send them $299 for some type of box. Very poor customer svc., this wasn't a cheap purchase! If the company recognize they have default part why should the consumer be responsible for whooping $300!

I bought a 37" tv from best buy 3 years ago without the warranty and it finally just black out. Before blacking out it produced a bad picture and in order to get rid of that problem I had to unplug the tv from the power outlet. This tv really [is bad].

purchased a poloriod tv set for christmas and in june the screen went black and stopped working

TV had vertical lines would go away after you shut the tv off for a while but came back. Eventually lost the picture 1 mo later. TV is only a couple years old. Now the picture is black.

I purchased a polaroid lcd/tv from wal-mart just about a year ago and it no longer works. When I try to turn it on the buttons on front light up but no picture comes on. I contacted polaroid and was informed that i was having a control box issue and that it would cost $250.00 to have this issue fixed and that I Could not return the t.v to wal-mart because they are not an authorized retailer

we purchased a 42 in Polaroid HD tv about 2 1/2 yrs ago now the picture will not come on or in the middle of a show it will go black we have sound just to picture. It cost way to much for it to lose a picture at only 2+yrs old.

I bought a Polaroid 37" LCD TV back in 2006 and bought the extended warranty which the total was well over $1,200 and I kept the receipt. It was used sparingly in a formal living room-less than 100 hours when it suddenly made "screaming noises" then strange lines, shutting down, etc. until it just went black. Walmart wouldn't help me without my receipt which I had, but I had recently moved so my files were not organized. I called Polaroid-they wanted $250 for a part and they said if that didn't fix it, they'd send a check or $100, but I'd still have a broken TV. I couldn't believe it, but luckily I found my receipt after two months of searching and the extended warranty ran out two weeks prior to me finding it.

Walmart still wouldn't help me AT ALL and I worked there part-time and people returned stuff all the time and walked out with new X-boxes, tv's, stereos, you name it and they did not have a receipt, so I don't work there anymore and Polaroid has given me the run-around. We need a class action suit. I've never spent $1200 on a tv that was used to little. BTW, I bought two other flat screens, LCD's a year before the Polaroid and the Sharp and Magnavox work perfectly and they're now almost 7 years old.

We bought our 32" Polaroid LCD TV from Walmart about two and a half years ago. The built in DVD player worked for about a month and we brought it back to Walmart and they switched it for another one. Two months later the new one did the same thing. We figured since the TV had a good picture we'd deal with it. Tonight while we were watching TV it started smoking and went black in the middle and eventually went off. We are going to have to buy a new TV or get one used. I'm thinking a used TV couldn't be any worse then a Polaroid brand new.

We really hoped this TV would last a long time. I would never buy a product made by Polaroid again. This is very disappointing and I would love to get involved with a class action suit. This TV cost us $680 and a little over two years later we have to purchase a new one. This big investment (to us it is big) should have lasted us a lot longer.

Bought a polaroid TV little over a year ago, 4-5 months later the DVD player stop working, it felt really hot so I took it out(they are made to be removed from TV) now I have no picture, the TV is on and sound is there but a black screen. It happened once before, I unplugged it for a while ,it returned to normal, this time it is for good. I have read that the capacitors go out on these polaroids. Lets hope for polaroids sake this is the problem. Still, Where has the quality in a product gone? Are companies so greedy they do not care.

I had a 32"HD Widescreen LCD TV/DVD Combo for only 2 years that suddenly made a noise and started smoking and the screen went black. I pulled the electrical and all wires out of the wall and it stop smoking. I called my next door neighbor who is a fireman over to make sure it didn't start a fire. It really scared me.

bought 40" Polaroid television owned two years and television has half a screen the other half is filled vertical lines have read many consumer complaints on polaroid televisions and polaroid does little or nothing at all to repair televisions. I am out over $700.00 with a television that doesn't work.

Purchased a new Polaroid Model TDA-03211C 32" LCD tv. Within a couple of days the built-in DVD player stopped working. I chased Polaroid for the full warranty period and they never made any repair. I received a part in the mail from somebody (no Polaroid markings, address etc) and I now assume that it had something to do with the tv, but I took two different days off from work as they said they would send a repairman to fix it, but they never did. After that, no response to e-mail, phone or letter. TV is now a couple of years old and when I turned it on the other night, the screen was jet black, no picture at all.

Since Polaroid wouldn't even live up to their warranty when it was new, I definitely can't expect anything now. Worse part is I did an extensive online search for a repair center that fixes Polaroid and can't even find one of those in NYS. Loss of the TV after spending a lot of money for it's purchase. I purchased this specifically because I was led to belive that Polaroid had a long standing record as being a fine, upstanding American company.

I purchased a Polaroid LCD TV from Walmart back in Feb 2007 and it no longer works. It appears to be the control box...at least that is what Polaroid told me it was. The power light comes on but the screen is black. I was told that it was $250.00 to get the part. I am so angry but I don't know what to do. The part is non refundable. Really? What a rip off.

TV is less than 3 years, now video will not play, only audio plays. Works if left idle for days, then will play only after turning on and off 25 or more times, will play for 2-3 hours than goes black. It was a cheap TV at $400, but I expected at least 10 years of life. Why do manufacturers built throw-away products these days? I blame Polaroid, but also China. They will not honor any warranty.

I purchased a Polaroid 32" Widescreen LCD HDTV/DVD Combo w/ Digital Tuner, FXM-3211C from Walmart in Sept. of 2006 that no longer working (not picture and no sound) 322,and am not able to get a replacement part from Polaroid. I phoned Polaroid to get the necessary replacement part that they no longer make but they were happy to sell me another unit for $300+ with a 90 day warranty (a refurbuished unit no doubt). After investing $900 in the product to now learn that not only did they discontinue this unit and no longer manufacture the part to repair. I have had televisions last in excess of 15 years with no issues whatsoever, this useless unit is just over 3 years old and it does not appear to be in recourse. I would not recommend the PURCHASE of A POLAROID TV -- don't do it!!!

Well I have the Poloroid Tv and we have not yet lost our picture. We have two color strips on either side of our screen. We have had it just over a year. I was going to call on it to see if they would do anything about it. But I am having second thoughts now.

I purchased the Polorid TDX 02611C from Walmart in October 2008. It is now June 2008 and the TV will not turn on. No storms, no warnings, no nothing. It will not turn on. Customer intimidation is something that I have never encountered before.

I purchased a 37" FLM-3732 flat screen TV from Circuit City less than 3 yeaars ago. The picture went to a black screen and will not come on. I have contacted Polaroid and after sending $223.00 they sent me a replacement part that would fix the problem. The part arrived and I put in in the TV. No improvement at all. Still no picture and when I called them back I was told that the part is a "remanufactured" part and that the only thing they would do is refund the shipping cost because I purchased the part "as is" I am certain no one ever told me the part was not a new part.

What a scam, get the old part someone send back, turn around and ship it out to another poor sucker who will pay another $123.00 for the part plus shipping of $100.00. Not a bad deal! They get to keep the money I sent for the "refurbished" part and I pay $40.00 to UPS to return it and get $100.00 back. So the net result to me is that I spend $145 for nothing!

I believe a class action lawsuit is in order. Too many people spent too much money for a piece of junk and poor warranty service after the sale. Polaroid should try to make it right. The product was obviously devective to begin with. I talked with a supervisor who told me that my only recourse was to sue. What an attitude! The TV is useless. A $1,500 TV should last longer than two and a half years!

Brought a Polaroid 42" T.V. from Walmart in November 2008 and it has quit working. Had problems with the volumne not working, then had to unplug it to get it to come on. Now it doesn't work at all. I will never buy another Polaroid product again.

Puchased 27 in polaroid tv model #3211 purchased 11/15/2008. no picture june 2010. purchased control box unit 129.99 to repair the problm. problm still there tv not working. no refund on part to repair the tv that didnt help. paid 129.00 for the part to repair tv. out 30.00 shipping and handeling 300.00 for the cost of the tv. 300.00 to buy a new tv. paid 129.00 for the part to repair tv out 30.00 shipping and handeling. 300.00 for the cost of the tv 300.00 to buy a new tv

I purchased a 42 inch polaroid television a year and a half ago. last week the picture went out but I still had sound. I took it to the repair center and the part alone is going to cost 400 dollars this is not counting labor. Since when do tvs only last a year and a half? Instead of fixing this tv I am going to buy another one and you can bet it wont be a polariod. I feel like I just threw my money away.

I bought a Poloroid model FLM 373b tv. It has worked fine until yesterday when all of a sudden it has no picture but the power light is on. You can't cut it off unless you cut power to it. The same problem I saw other folks on here have. Is this going to be a Class action case or what? The tv is obviously junk. We have had it less than 3 years.

i recently posted a complaint about my polaroid tv. I found out today, the manufacturer of this polaroid tv,the proview technology is no longer offering any type of service or repairs to the tvs. I have looked everywhere for a repair manual and a power supply board for my model, which is tlx-04011c. no one has the part, the repair manual, or a parts list. I just want every who has filed complaints about this brand, that now its impossible to get these tv's repaired. If attorneys are reading these, please contact me about a lawsuit to proview, polaroid and walmart. walmart has known problems exist with the polaroid tvs and have continued to sell them until just recently. they continued sellling them and the sales clerks in that department talked thes units up. stating that this was a good tv and i would enjoy it for a long time to come. i dont know, but isnt them an implied warranty, making walmart responsible for the this tv along with polaroid and proview in california. sure would be nice if any of these companies would offer money back, or a new tv of a different brand. i certainly dontwant to waste money repairing it when so many have problems with them working after being repaired.

I made the mistake of my life purchasing that cheap polaroid television. It started to smoke within about 1.5 years. They sent technicians out at least 3 times and they never fixed it. I called Poloroid Corporate and they simply didn't care... Thats the honest TRUTH! They know the television is junk. I complaint to Walmart corporate officials because I purchased it there, and they switched it out for a wonderful Vizio. Walmart no longer carry the junk televisions from Polaroid but this left a soar taste in my mouth for all Poloroid Products.

I will never purchase anything they sell and I tell everyone who wants to purchase electronics DO NOT buy Poloroid. Their customer service [is bad] and their products [are worse]...I feel this way because that is the result of wasting $1500 on their junk, flat screen, smoking television. They never did a thing at coporate after i called over 15 times at least.

I bought a 46 inch LCD tv from walmart to years ago and have had a problem once a year. After the first year the HDMI went out on the TV. I called polaroid and they had someone come out and replace something on the back and it worked. Almost a year goes by and the same thing happens. I call polaroid and they dont honor the warranty that was on it from the repair because they closed that particular call center down and have no record of my tv being repaired. I think that is very bad business and I would encourage anyone not to by from them.

I purchased a polaroid tv 11 months ago. Now it is not working (still under warranty.) Polaroid will not honor the warranty because they say I purchased the tv from a non authorized dealer. How as I to know this. My warranty is up on June 24th. I have a tv that has been used about 6 times and does not work and the manufacturer will not warranty it?

walmart product was a polaroid 32.in model no.tda-03211c this product had a buautiful picture and a dvd player bilt in that worked for 3 mo. the picture was still great till it started to pour smoke out the top of it with no worning. this tv was bought 2 and a half years ago. the only thing i can be greatfull for is that it happend while i was at home my home smelled of burnt wires for days .I have Poodles that i could have lost if i hadnt ben home when it cought fire or allmost did it stoped smoking shortly after i un pluged it . the fear i have now is soal deep i wont leave my Tv on if i am not in the room. even though i no longer own and wont own another Polaroid TV.

I purchased a Polaroid 32 inch tv from Walmart about 2 1/2 years ago. It worked fine for a while. Last year, it would come on, no picture, I thought it was the cable box so I turned in off and turned it back on about three times and the picture came in. About a week later, that stopped working, the blue light would come on, no picture and I couldn't turn it off unless I unplugged it. These are horrible tv's and I would suggest that if you are thinking about purchasing one, don't do it. They should just stick to what they know, cameras!!!!!

I bought a 15" TV from Target and the remote did not work right from day one. I have also had sporadic issues with the volume and channel buttons. They took months to follow up with me and then said there is no warranty on the remotes. The whole thing should have been returned. Now, I am stuck with it as it is past the three month period that Target warranties their units for. I will never buy another Polaroid product again and I used to only purchase their products.

I bought a Polaroid 19-inch TV/DVD combo 2 years ago. The DVD player went out about two months after I bought it. This morning, the TV started smoking and then went out. It could have burned my house down.

Please, lawyers, get involved with this case. The televisions are junk and they know they have a problem with the control box and is making the consumer pay for it! Walmart don't sell these televisions anymore, probably because of so many complaints! Do something about it!

I too had bought a 42-inch Polaroid TV, not sure of the model. I don't have the book. It was from Walmart and didn't come with everything, but about 5 to 6 months after I bought it, I had a green line form down the middle of the screen. I have not done anything about it except for turn the picture color down enough to were it's not as noticeable. But I paid $987.60 for mine, which is a big chunk of change for me. I was told by a sales clerk back in 2008 that these are the top of the line and it's on sale, so I was sold. Now knowing what I know now, I would have never bought it and would have stayed with my regular brands. I wish I could take a picture and show you what I have to deal with on my TV. The bright parts of movies are all green. What should I do? I don't have the money to go out and replace it and from the hassles I see that everyone else has gone through, is it worth the time and effort and stress? It has been 2 1/2 years now. I just want my TV to work a lot better than it is now.

I bought my 42'' Polaroid LCD TV from Walmart in April of 2007. I paid around $1,000.00 for it. Exactly three years to the day my TV started acting up and not turning on, you would have to unplug and replug in then it would work. But that only lasted a few days, then the picture was all messed up. The last day I tried to turn it on a load, buzz noised like a smoke alarm went off for a few seconds or so and now my TV doesn't work at all. I thought these TV should last 15 years at least. I feel I was ripped off and I will never buy anything that is Polaroid brand or recommend them ever again. I hope there is a class action suit against them and all of us who bought their junk get our money back so we can go buy a real TV that will last longer than 3 years.

I, too, bought my Polaroid TV in March of 2009 (received it in April) and returned it in March of 2010. Turned it on one day and there was a line down the middle of it with neon colors to the left of the line and regular TV to the right of the line. This is my on going saga with the representatives in my owners manual that I was to contact.

It's been 22 days that your company has been in possession of my TV with little to no results and absolutely no positive feedback. It has been at least 15 days since the parts ordered for my unit have been placed. I find that a little less than disturbing that these issues have not been resolved in a timely manner. I am demanding the name and contact information to Anson's direct supervisor, I have asked for this information more than a week ago and that matter, too, was completely ignored. I am completely discouraged that it has been almost a month, and I still don't have my TV back. Please Advise. Economic loss, can't replace the TV at this time.

I purchased a Polaroid TV from Walmart and one day it never turned on again. 2 years old. Called and they took back the TV and will replace a refurbished same model for 125. It's an option.

I purchased a 40-inch Polaroid TV from Walmart. It lasted 5-1/2 months. The screen went out, but there was still sound. Polaroid told me to send it back and they would place a call ticket with UPS to pick it up. I purchased a box that had glass, handle with care, do not lie flat printed on it. I also purchased bubble wrap. UPS picked up the box and when it arrived at Polaroid, the screen was cracked. Polaroid stated they were not responsible for the damage and UPS stated they were not responsible.

Therefore, I lost $813.00. It seems that Polaroid would have had this insured since they requested I send it back and since they placed the call ticket with UPS. I should have received a new TV and the fight to cover the cost should be between Polaroid and UPS. It also took them from May to August to tell me that there was nothing they could do. The least they could have done was send the broken TV back. They probably fixed it and resold it to someone else or fixed it and gave it to one of their employees. They stated that UPS broke the screen and it was unrepairable. UPS states that it was improperly boxed, therefore they are not responsible either. I have pictures of the box.

I bought a 32" Polaroid flat screen from Wal-Mart 2 1/2 years ago and have had several problems with it. The DVD player never worked; it only makes noises and my picture is almost never there. It is a black screen with voices. I have contacted Polaroid only to get nowhere. This was a lot of money spent on a useless item.

I bought a Polaroid TV from Walmart and even purchased the two-year warranty. Yet, the TV went out two months after the warranty had expired. I just happened to try to turn it on one day and it wouldn't turn on.

When it finally did come on (after unplugging a million times), there was only a black screen. I thought TV's were made to last longer than two years? Money doesn't grow on trees. So, buying a new TV after just purchasing one two years ago is robbery by Polaroid.

I bought a 42" LCD television in 2007. Within six months, after the TV was on for 3-5 minutes, the screen went black and the sound went out. The TV was still under warranty, and the control panel was replaced. Another seven months went by, the same issue occurred. Polaroid wanted $240 to replace the control panel again, knowing there were these issues with the TV model I had. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Polaroid failed to respond.

I paid $780 for this TV that failed to work after six months of purchase. The TV again failed seven months after a replacement part was installed. I now have a non-operational TV, because Polaroid wanted $240 for another replacement part, knowing the issues with these TVs and the likelihood of the TV failing to work again after I would possibly invest an additional $240.

I have had my 42" since 2007 and I had no problems with the TV until yesterday when I got home from work, I notice that the blue LED was on but no picture. I tried to turning the TV off but it wouldn't turn off, unless I unplug it form the wall. I guess you could say that I'm very fortunate that my TV didn't smoke while I was asleep.

Now, from my understanding that LCD should have life of about 15 years, give or take a year or 2. It looks to me like we all got holes on this one. I'll tell you what, if I'm asked about Polaroid, I'm going to say their product are bad and you should get a Kodak, and it doesn't take long for the word to get out before people start to understand that Polaroid isn't the company of yesterday and stop buying their product totally.

I bought a 42 inch Polaroid the day after Thanksgiving last year and it worked fine for the little I used it the first year and right after the year marker, the picture started going out. Also plugging in a PS3 has never worked! It glitches off and on for some reason! I am not happy with this TV at all. It is a piece of junk!

We purchased a 42" Polaroid flat screen TV from Wal-Mart in 2008. The wires inside of the TV can be seen on the screen. There is a 2-3 inch vertical distortion of color in the left side. We would like the TV replaced.

I purchased a 40-inch High Definition Polaroid TV at Walmart around January 2009. When we brought it home, I connected the DVD player to it and the connector on it was loose so I would have to wiggle it to get the picture to stay on. Then a few months later, we noticed a black streak on the TV. I called Polaroid and they basically said, "Too bad so sad, not our problem."

Amazing all the complaints on Polaroid TVs. I too am a victim! Purchased 42" LCD from Walmart black Friday 2007. Picture went in and out, and finally totally blacked out! Think there might be a response from Polaroid?

I have two 42" Polaroid LCD TVs bought at Wal-Mart in 2007. In one of them, the DVD player has never worked. And last night, the other one lost its picture, and some smoke came out of it. I went online and found that this is very common for this particular TV. When you spend $900.00 for a TV, it should work for more than 3 years. I would like to find out about a class action lawsuit, since this seems to be a very common problem.

I bought a 32" flat screen Polaroid TV from Walmart in August of 2007 for my husbands birthday. I have had to replace the DVD twice, the third one went out again about 3 months ago and I just bought a separate DVD player because I was tired of messing with it . Today, the TV started hissing and caught on fire. I couldn't believe it, I payed $750 for this TV and it didn't even last three years.

I purchased a 32 inch Polaroid LCD TV for $780.00 at local Wal-Mart about June 2007. A few months after purchase, the built in DVD player quit working. Two years later, as I sat watching TV, smoke started billowing out of back of it. When I called Polaroid, they said this was common for this model: TDA 03211C. If I hadn't of been home, I shudder to think my house could of burned down never to have known the cause.

Polaroid offered to fix for $250.00 plus labor. After reading the blogs regarding Polaroid TVs, I see that I am not the only one and that this is a common occurrence with their TVs. One blogger suggested a Class Action Suit and I am in complete agreement. We should all have our TVs replaced or monetary settlement.

We won a Polaroid TV with DVD player. Within a year, the DVD quit working. I pulled the DVD player to try to find a replacement online and couldn't but quickly found this website. After reading this blog, I don't think I'll bother with the DVD and just toss the whole thing in the trash before it burns my house down. Though

Polaroid undoubtedly has someone else build the TV for them, it is their responsibility to ensure the quality of the product by guaranteeing that the superiority specs of the build are met. The business practices that are being employed by Polaroid and other companies in today's market is simply a reflection of the personality and business style of the management that runs the company: shallow, dishonest, greedy and without honor.

In Nov 2007, we bought 2 32" Polaroid TVs at Wal-Mart on Black Friday for $448+/piece. I never buy extended warranties but this time, I did for $28/piece, thank goodness. In Oct 09, one of the TVs had smoke billowing out the top. 2 days ago, the other one did the same thing but this time, we were gone and probably lucky to have a place to return to. It was also the day I felt the latest earthquake here in CA.

Both TVs are still under warranty so I'm sure this TV will be repaired as the 1st one was. In addition to time and anger were out about $11 each to have UPS pick them up as they won't fit in our car. Tonight, I find this website with 59 pages of complaints. If there isn't a recall or class action suit there should be. I should have bought a Toyota as it looks like the feds won't get involved in this.

I bought 2 of the 42" flat screens from Walmart, but one of them was not working right so they sent me the main brain for it and it still sounds like crap. So in the past three days they went out with the black screen. I have called and called but to my surprise, nothing. I am so very ****** that this is going on. I spent about $1500 for each and I worked very hard to save this money. I have twin 2-year-old sons who watch their cartoons on them. Now I have nothing. I searched the net and found a lot of disturbing info on the same problems I am having. This should be dealt with, if anyone has the means for a class action lawsuit, please let me know.

I bought a 37" Polaroid flat screen five years ago and now the TV does not work, the picture turned black and I need to turn the TV off and wait 10-20 seconds to turn back on. I have been doing this since Dec. 2009. Now, the TV is very hard to shut off and does not come back on. My question is are they going to recall these TVs since there are so many with the same problem, a black screen? Thank you for your time.

I, too, like all the folks stood by what I thought was a reputable name and purchased an HDTV-TLAO15C model Polaroid flat screen TV that also doubles as a widescreen for computer usage. What absolute garbage. These people should have stuck to the process of cheap film for a disposable camera business. Just leave the TV making business to those companies that have a *** good product like Sony. These TVs last beyond 15 years or better and best of all, they stand by their products. They do not hide behind extensions with voicemail service that never gets returned. What a joke.

I now see why Walmart no longer carries their *** and very few Targets as well. I am out $250 but I won't stop until these idiots are out of business. The audacity to ignore the replies of your valued and trusted consumers that had faith in your name enough to buy your experimental slideshow you call a TV. Consumer Affairs must act. This is a disgrace to have this many complaints about the same product and no company representative to return your calls. The TV gets powered on. The picture and audio are fine for about three minutes then your screen goes completely black. No picture, only audio is what you have.

I have a Polaroid 19" HDTV, and it went out about one month after the warranty did. Never buy this product. I guess everyone associates the name with the camera that was so popular. They sure don't know TVs. I have to buy a TV to replace, and I am unemployed as of now, and cannot afford it.

Well right after we purchased out, TV and DVD player went out. This was about 2 years ago so we just quit using it and just used the TV part. But this morning, my husband and I got our son up for school and I just happened to look up and there was smoke harrowing out the back of the TV from the top and we unplugged it.

I am very [upset] right now because I have read other statements about this brand and they did not get any help from [these] people and [they] all tried to horns waggle them out of more money to fix their TV and that isn't right. I have a friend who is a class action suit lawyer who is going to help me and everyone else who have had problems. I suggest [they] give me my 750.00 dollars back or i just say the word and [they] are going to be more than bankrupt. My husband and I are both disabled and we have a 10 year old son and it scared us when we seen the smoke coming from the TV. It could have caught our house on fire and I don't play them games.

I bought a 19 DVD combo Polaroid TV from Target in March of 2009. Starting in Feb 2010, the TV started having sound but no picture. This is still an intermittent problem. I attempted to call Polaroid and gave up. I took the TV apart and found all preview components in it, works intermittently with the LCD screen and appear to be a power oriented issue. Electronics inside reminded me of something I found in black and white tube TVs back in the early 70s. I just loved spending 300 bucks on junk cause that's what it is.

I bought a 36" TV with a built-in DVD at Wal-mart. I never used the DVD for the first year, because I had my old one in use. One day, my old one stop working, and my kids wanted to watch a movie. We inserted the DVD in for the first time, and it never played the disc. And it got stucked in it. I never made it work. I called Polaroid, and they told me that my warranty ran out and that if I wanted it to be fixed, it would be at my own expense. No exceptions.

Now, the TV went out completely; no sound or screen. I called again, and no help has been provided. I won't buy any Polaroid products any more and will let as many people as possible know about this issue. I don't have a job or money right now to fix this piece of trash or to buy an other one. My kids don't have a TV anymore, so do I. I feel like I went back to the 19th century, no TV.

I bought a 42" Polaroid TV on 11/28/08 and it went out on 6/14/09. Walmart would not help me. They give 90 days. They said call Polaroid. Polaroid would not help me because I didn't have a receipt. I tried to tell them the manufactured date was Sept 2008 only two months before I bought it . They did not care. Still have not gotten any help from them and probably won't but don't buy any thing else from Polaroid.

I bought the LCD TV on November 2007. I kept getting black lines with letters in them coming up on the screen. I just had to wait for them to go away on their own, usually about 1/2 hour. Then Feb. 18, the whole TV stopped working, just a black screen. Very upset. I can not believe all the complaints about this TV. After reading all the complaints, I am not even sure I want to deal with Polaroid since I probably won't get my money back anyway!

My built-in DVD player in the Polaroid TV is no longer working. Expected to play technician just to find out what can be done about this problem. Polaroid should have a help line that does not charge consumers for trying to repair a defective product

In March of 2008, we purchased a Polaroid 46" LCD TV from Wal-Mart (It was replacing a Magnavox that we had used for 12 years). We paid $1,513.34 for the Polaroid. Within 10 months, we started having problems with the screen ghosting or showing double images, and then blacking out. Wal-Mart would not take the TV back and said I needed to contact Polaroid. I called Polaroid and could never get through. I'm always put on hold and nobody would pick up. I finally e-mailed Polaroid and they sent a reply back with a contact number 1-877- which I have called. They claim to be a service center, and said Polaroid is no longer in business but they will send someone out to fix the TV for $300. Has anyone else used this service? Did they repair the TV? I do not think Polaroid customers should have to pay anything to have these faulty sets repaired.

I bought a TV at Wal-Mart on 12/21/08. On 11/20/09, before the warranty was out, the TV went out, colors running on the screen and a big black circle on the top of the screen. So I sent it back by UPS as directed by Polaroid. They received the TV on the dock on 11/25/09 and to this day, I have not got my money back.

I had to go buy another TV because my husband had a stroke in 12/09/07 and is paralyzed on the left side along with numbers of other problems. I have called and called, now I am being told they are no longer in business and this new company had acquired the business and would have to look in to the problem. It has been almost 4 months with no response. I have hard-earned the money for the TV and it was still under warranty, I should get my money back now. UPS will not tell me anything because they said they have already responded to the company.

I bought a Polaroid 40" TV and 2 months after warranty, it went out and the TV quit. I called a TV repairman, he comes and he says that it needs a new circuit board. He looks in his computer and says that they don't sell parts to fix it. I called Polaroid and they say that they don't sell parts to fix it. Now, I have a practically new TV that is just trash. I can't even pay to have it fixed.

I would not have filed a complaint until I read all the problems with this Polariod TV. I bought a Polariod 32" FLM-323B in Feb. of 2007. Two months later, the picture went out but I still had sound. I was sent a new box to install in the TV but no repair man to install it. I was told that no one in my area worked on Polariod TVs and that I would have to send everything to New York.

I had to replace the box in the TV myself. Early in 2008, we turned on the TV and just heard a pop and had no sound. Called up the service department again and had to send the TV to New York to get repaired. They sent the TV back and said they could not find anything wrong with the sound board. The TV worked for just another couple of weeks before the sound went out again. This time, I called Walmart where I bought it, and wanted a refund but they said their warranty had ran out. I called Polaroid back again to tell them about the sound and have never heard back. To this day, the TV sits in the basement storage room! It's Feb 2010!

We purchased a Polaroid 32" HDTV on 11/23/2007. Ten months later, the sound went out completely. We called and reported the problem to Polaroid. They said that they would have to mail the part out to us and then send a repair technician out to put the new part in. The part came and the repair technician came out a few days later to put in the new part only to find out that Polaroid sent out the wrong part--so that one got sent back and another part sent out.

A few days later, the part came and a few days after, the repair technician returned to replace the part. The repair technician replaced the part and recommended that we purchased a different type of surge protected, one that has surge protection and filtering. So we purchased an APC Power Saving Back-ups to help protect our investment. On 02/05/2010, the sound went out again, so we did a search to find Polaroid and so that we can contact them and tell them that the problem returned. Instead, the first thing that comes up is Consumer Complaint website with 57 pages of customer complaints about Polaroid TVs!

I purchased a Polaroid TV with built-in DVD player in 2007, from WalMart. The DVD player has broken three times in the two and a half years since purchase! The first time, a technician came out and replaced the built-in DVD portion. The second time we called Polaroid about the same issue happening again, they mailed us a new built-in unit and told us to replace it ourselves and mail the defective part back. We did, and now the DVD player is not working again. The phone number we had been calling Polaroid at has been disconnected. I found this board and thought I'd add my info, as it sounds like many others have similar complaints about these Polaroid TVs. I'm hoping there will be some resolution soon. I will be calling the phone number I found here for the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and continue searching for a direct line to Polaroid.

I purchased a Polariod HDTV Model # 3700 at Walmart approx. 2 years ago. I also purchased an extended warranty with it. Well, 3 months before the extended warranty went out, the picture went out. I was told the TV would have to be sent to New York for repair. I did receive the TV back in working condition but that was less than a year ago and now the sound is gone. I've purchased many TVs but never one this defective. I have TVs that are 10 years old and still work. I will never purchase a Polaroid product again.

We bought a Polaroid FLM-323B Model #3200 in early 2007 from Walmart. While the TV was on this morning, it just popped then lost power altogether. There was no power at all; nothing! We paid $800 for this TV and now, we are just out of a TV and have to spend more money to buy a new one! This is absurd!

I purchased a Polaroid LCD TV in May of 2006. It worked for only 1 1/2 years and I have been since trying to get in touch with them about this. They now tell me I have to pay for advice from a Technician. I don't feel I should. The product #is FLM-323B, Model #3200. The TV comes on but there is no picture, screen stays black. There is a humming noise from the back of the TV. I would think a TV should last more than 1 1/2 years. They should at least respond to see if it could be fixed. I won't purchase any other Polaroid product.

I bought the TV at Wal-Mart on December of 2007. First, the DVD player stopped working, it just "clicks". Now, the TV has volume but no picture. A three year old TV should still be working.

I purchased a 32" Polaroid LCD TV/DVD in December 2008 at Wal-Mart. The TV is only used for movie viewing, as it is not hooked up to cable or anything. I have used the TV less than 10 times total! Right away, I had problems with the remote. Last night while watching a movie, all of a sudden the audio goes out and is replaced by a loud buzzing noise. I removed the DVD and reinserted it. It ran fine for a couple of minutes, and again, the audio went and the loud buzzing returned.

After a few failed attempts, I decided to go online and troubleshoot. After googling and finding this website, I was horrified and frightened after reading all the customer complaints! I immediately unplugged it from the wall, afraid of a fire! I called Wal-Mart today, and they informed me that they no longer carry that brand.

So I called the Consumer Product Safety Commision (CPSC), the government agency that monitors products for safety. I highly recommend that you all do the same, and we will see if we can get a recall on these before someone gets injured! The toll-free number is 1-800-638-2772. The wait time was about 15 minutes, but they were very interested much more so than Wal-Mart seemed to be! You can also e-mail the agency (info@cpsc.gov) or fill out a form on its website.

We purchased a 32" LCD Polaroid television in December 2007. All of a sudden we have a black mark inside of the TV screen that is shaped like the number "7". I can't believe that after two years and the money that we spent on this television that this TV is junk.

13 months old Polaroid TV (32 inch) died. I was told by a rep. that I could have it repaired for $250 with a 30 day warranty or$222.99 without a warranty. I am outraged! The rep. said that they're located in New Jersey but would not give the address.

I purchased a 19" LCD/DVD Polaroid TV roughly two years ago. Over this time, I have experienced low sound quality and when connecting my Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 to it, all these lines streak across the TV. Most recently, the pre-installed DVD player has broken. I inserted a DVD and it makes a clicking sound over and over.

Also when watching movies off a DVD Player I connected through an RF Mod, the TV makes a buzzing sound. I am not happy. Even for a 19" LCD flat screen, some quality should come with it!

People don't give up. Polaroid Co. (Manufacturer), Proview (Audio & Video Manufacturer), and Summit Technologies (Repair & Part Co.). The forenamed companies are all responsible for this mess.

They lie, cheat, and steal. Don't believe what they're telling you. I recommend that you read all the complaints at this site, and you will see a pattern. It's one thing to purchase a defective product costing a few hundred dollars, but it's another that you can't get it repaired. I have been in contact with a number of consumer agencies, including government agencies. If you feel you've been scammed, fight for your rights as a consumer. Call anyone you can to stop this madness.

I purchased a Polaroid LCD 42" Flat Screen TV on January 1, 2009. On December 15, 2009, our TV starting having a wallpaper like stripes to at least one-half the screen. I call Proview and they said to take a picture and email to them, which I did. They got back to me and told me it needed a screen replacement, which would be covered under warranty. They provided prepaid UPS shipping label with instructions how to mail it. It was shipped on January 12, 2010 and we tracked the package and they received it on January 18, 2010. I was supposed to get the TV back in 2-3 week max.

So I called yesterday which was about two weeks and spoke to Elsa. She said the TV was damaged in transit something about a cracked frame and Proview provided insurance so they are waiting for UPS to honor the insurance claim. I would have to wait at least until Friday, February 5, 2010 to find out if the claim was settled with UPS. In the meantime, I called UPS to see if there was a claim. They said no claim was recorded. Even if this was true, why do I have to wait if it's insured. They should get paid and send me my repaired TV or a replacement ASAP. This is totally mind boggling. I spent over $700 and now I have no TV at all. It seems to me they are trying to renew on their warranty. Thank you.

I purchased a 46" Polaroid LCD TV. It is only 2 1/2 years old. The color went out on it. I cannot reach anyone in regards to this issue. The 1-800 number has been disconnected, not to my surprise. It is a worthless TV, one that you cannot get parts for. We paid over $1000.00 for this hunk of junk. Every TV repair shop I called said that it would be about $500.00 to fix it. And that is if you could even get the part. Very unhappy purchaser! The company should have to compensate the customers and the product should be removed permanently from the shelves!

I purchased a Polaroid 19" HD-ready TV FLM-1911 11/06. I have no picture but some sound. I had trouble with the remote three months ago. If you lower the sound, the audio is very poor. The control to advance the stations stopped working. I had to put the TV number in to get a channel. Two weeks ago, I started not get a picture and sometimes audio. If you unplug it, you might get a picture. It is past warranty but I think that a TV should last more than three years. This product is very poor quality and would not recommend purchasing any of their TVs.

I bought 37-in LCD 1080p. After about 3 years, it's toast. Based from reading complaints and problems with Polaroid customer service, I don't think I will pursue. What a rip off! I'm feeling very **. By the way, I bought this piece of crap at Wal-Mart.

After three years, the screen of my 32" Polaroid HD LCD TV/monitor went blank. I'm out of $900.
