Panasonic Offers Replacement Lamps for Some LCD TVs

Vincent of Jackson NJ (06/14/08)
I purchased a Panasonic PT-50LC13 televsion in 2004. Since that time, at least three times a year, I am replacing the bulb or something else with the televsion. I asked for a replacement because it is a lemon but was told I was not elegible.

I have spent over a thousand dollars in replacement parts for the televsion.

This is the worst customer service/company I have ever come across! Approximently 2 weeks ago, I was preparing dinner for my family when our Panasonic Plasma went black, hoping it was a problem with the cable company. No of course not, I contact panasonic and explained we had only owned the tv for 2 years. I explained how unhappy we were and we purchased a panasonic due to the name and reputation. I then got a local panasonic tech to give me an estimate. it reguires 1,600 parts/labor.

I then got back in touch with BETTY at customer care and she said I needed to fax her the original receipt? We did so. She said the repair is to costly. She would look into a similar model for replacement. At that point I was extremely happy, WOW it was the right thing to spend the extra for Panasonic! After numerous call and faxing back and forth. She called and faxed over a release. The release was signed and faxed back. I called Betty and said how happy I was they were doing the right thing. She then dropped the bomb and asked me for my credit card #. I said for what? Well she said for the replacement plasma!

I was completely confused! I said, why would I pay for another television when the current television was only 2 years old that we paid 2400 and the estimate to repair was 1600, and Best Buy sells the television, the oned she was selling for 1,099. I was so mad, I just couldn't believe, Panasonic was not only not backing up their product, or request to split the repairs, they were manipulating me into purchasing another panasonic television for 200 more than the exact model?

It does not end there, I demanded to speak with her supervisor, she said she would have to have someone get back to me. She said the tv was out of warranty! Of course I have heard not received a call from BETTY's supervisor although I was promised over 5 days ago!

Haven't talked to COSTCO yet, but I beleive it is out of their warranty period. Have had the TV for 2 years and 5 months. Replaced the lamp about 6 weeks ago and now there's a yellow haze all over the screen and several bright spots (blue, yellow and red) in the lower center and left side of the screen. It sounds like all the other problems I've been reading about. I've been reading up and it seems that now the light engine could be bad. This will cost approx 1,000.+ I will contact COSTCO tomorrow.

233.00 for a new lamp with a new problem developing each day. will not but anymore TVs from COSTCO!

Ug, we purchased a Panasonic 37 HDTV 12/2005 for 2300, on May 27, 2008 I was making dinner and the screen went black! I contacted a panasonic servicer and received a 1600 estimate! OMG, the current price for a 42 Panasonic is 1300 brand new! I have spoken to numerous people by e-mail, fax's, letters etc! We have not even finished paying it off! I believe we owe more that what the current price is! I now am waiting to see the outcome as the Plasma sits in the corner collecting dust!
