Mitsubishi

Sue of Hamilton, OH June 13, 2009

I purchased a Mitsubishi WD5275 in Feb. of 2005 from hhGregg. I also purchased a 5 year extended warranty. GE was the repair servicer but would sub out the repair service to others. I would have to replace the lamp every year sometimes before the year was up. The mirrors went bad so I called hhgregg, they first acted is if they would help me, then when they didn't call back, I kept calling them, they would continue to tell me the manager was on the phone. I called Mitz to see if they could help me, of course they said no and then GE would not help me even though I had purchased a 5 year warranty serviced by them.

This all happened in February 2009, finally they agreed to replace the mirrors in my TV. after I told them I had secured an attorney and I was naming everyone. Not to my surprise Mitz no longer made the parts. So GE gave me a check for 1198.00 to purchase a new TV on Tiger.com. I paid 2600.00 for my TV plus the stand that is made for my TV, along with the 5 year warranty, the total costs were about 3500.00. We did purchase a new TV but not a Mitz. I will never buy a Mitz Product again nor will I buy anything from hhGregg or any products GE makes. Someone should make these people responsible for their actions. I have a new TV but lost the last year of my warranty I paid for through hhGregg.

In January, 2005 we purchased a Mitsubishi Projection TV from Larson's Appliance in Medford Or for approximately 3200.00. Shortly before the warranty was up the TV started having many of the same problems I've read in your log regarding Mitsubishi tvs, i.e., frequently shutting down, red/orange light flashing, green light flashing, lines running through the screen, etc.

A repairman came out in approximately Dec/Jan of 2006 supposedly fixing it but it has contantly had problems over the years shutting down ever other night and now shuts down a least once a night and even after unplugging it and restarting it, which use to work, we now can't get it to go back on sometimes for hours.

After reading the log knowing full well that even if we put money into trying to fix it we will get the same results as everyone else which is pouring money into a tv that can't be fixed so we will take the loss (most we've ever paid for a tv or any appliance) junk this expensive tv and never buy another Mitsubishi product. Friends of ours bought the same tv model we did and have had the same problems so obviously Mitsubishi sells inferior products and knows it! Something needs to be done because these are expensive tv sets that are a luxery item and most of us can ill afford to replace them!

I purchased a new 73inch TV and built a custom cabinet at a cost of 14,000 and as of today i have spent in excess of 4,ooo to repair the tv. BE SMART DON'T BUY ANY PRODUCTS FROM MITSUBISHI ELECTRONICS, BEST YOU TOSS YOUR MONEY IN THE RIVER. I CANT CHANGE TV S SINCE THE CUSTOM CABINET WAS MADE FOR THAT 7327

Paul's TV advertised with a purchase of certain Mitsubishi TV's and TV stand we would receive 600 in gas rebates through Mitsubishi Electric. However, the company that distributes the 600 gas card is out of business and there is no rebate. I relied on this information when I purchased this TV for 2200.00 believing that I would receive a gas rebate totalling 600. I opened a gas card with Mobil to keep track of my gas totals, however, there is not gas rebate.

I purchased a Mitsubishi DLP Big Screen TV, Model # WD52825 in December 2005. In early 2007, I had to replace the bulb, which cost 300+. Now,(May'09) the TV will not work at all. I called a Service Tech for a fee of 100 and was told the DM board / chassis is defective and he stated this is an "epidemic" with Mitsubishi TVs. I've read the complaints and can see he is correct as this issue being widespread. Cost to replace the DM board/chassis is 865.00.

Purchased a 65" WD-Y65 DLP Television in September 2006. In the past 2.5 years, we have had to have three lamp replacements and a heat sensor replacement and NOW, the TV is refusing to power up. There have been nothing but problems with this TV and the sad part is that Mitsubishi knows about them, each tech stated that the company knew of the heat sensor issue and the problems with the lamps and on top of that, any time we needed to contact them we had to wait 30-45 mintues before a tech would answer. Personally, there should have been a recall issued on these sets and a replacement offered. Now that we are out of warranty, we will more than likely need to buy a whole new TV, certainly not happy with Mitsubishi.

Purchased a WD62525 Mitsubishi Television in April 2005. Great TV Great Picture. Spent over 3,000.00 at time of Purchase. December 2007 had a problem with a Flashing Green light then the TV went out. No Power. The place I purchased the TV from, Totons TV, said the you would fix the TV took a little over a month. Approx 900.00 later. August 2008. Same problem happened. I complained to Totons TV they told me to call Mitsubishi maybe they can do something. The took 250.00 off the bill. Still cost me almost 700.00. May 2009. Same problem. I call Totons TV, they tell me it is going to cost the same, if not more and to call Mitsubishi and see what they will do. This TV is just over 3 years old. I have already put in more then 1,600.00 and they want more to fix it. I place my complaint to Mitsubishi, they have still yet to return my call.

Looks like I am another person who is very unhappy about investing a large amount of money and have thrown it away. Maybe I should have just taken the money, put in a pile in my front yard and caught it on fire. My WD-52525 DLP HDTV is sitting in my living room after only 2 years of owning it and it doesn't work. Within months of owning it, the tv kept shutting off due to over heating. The warranty covered the sensor. A year later, the bulb went. So I replaced it. And the tv worked great for about 3 months. Now there is no picture. The picture froze up, I tried to reset, unplug and plug the connections and the screen is black. I can hear voice, but .... What a waste! I was recommended by friends and family that a Mitsubishi TV was the way to go. I also buy Mitsubishi IGBTs at work and thought this was a great company that I could trust. However, with great remorse, I wouldn't recommend a Mitsubshi TV to my worst enemy. LEMON!!! The manufacturer should stand by their product! I know we do!

Jeanine of Montebello, CA April 21, 2009

Jeanine of Montebello CA (04/21/09)
I purchased a Mitsubishi TV from Paul's TV in La Habra which offered a 600 gas rebate offer. I followed the instructions that Mitsubishi gives to customers to claim voucher and have been sending my gas receipts since December 2008. My correspondence has gone unacklowledged and the receipts I sent for March 2009 were returned to sender/unable to forward (I don't know what happened to receipts I sent before that).

I've contacted Mitsubishi about this problems numberous times and was instructed by Mitsubishi to contact the company that processes gas vouchers: MDC Group Inc, who is also not returning my phone calls. I called Mitsubishi again for answers as they should honor their promotions or at the very least credit their customers account for the 600 promised to those that followed their instructions. Seems as though crediting customers account is a much more cost-effective than facing a class action lawsuit.

1. Committing to buy gas from one gas company in order to redeem gas voucher. 2. Hours spent on the phone, writing correspondence to both Mitsubishi and MDC Group INC trying to get a response as to why neither company is honoring promotion.
