tom of Newtown Square, PA December 14, 2009 I joined and was treated like a peice of trash. The equipment is not properly maintained and the staff is not trained at all and must be paid very poorly based on the attitudes. I learned a valuable lesson...YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! At 10.00 a month it is not realistic to train staff in customer service, much less attract quality people or maintain equipment. I have stopped looking for deals that are to good to be true and joined a reputable gym that is more expensive but that cares about its members not their 10.00. Randi of Brick, NJ December 8, 2009 I joined this club on 11/9/08 with no required term limitations. I went into the club on 9/3/09 to cancel my membership. I received another bill in October and went into the club again. I was told I now had to send a certified letter. I sent a certified letter on 10/19/09 along with payment for September and October in the amount of 21.40 (10.70 per month). I continue to receive bills todate now totalling 62.70 because they are adding service fees. I went into the club again last night and was told that my account remains active because I have a balance. I feel like I am being scammed at the age of 57. I walked out crying when the manager, Chris, told me he is getting tired of seeing my face. I don't know what else to do but file a complaint. I keep receiving a bill from them and was told last night that it will continue to accumulate. I've seen similar complaints online, is there anyone filing a class action suit? Please assist me. Any help would be appreciated. Sukhwant of Queens, NY July 17, 2009 I was going to the planet fitness gym for more than five month . I never got problem. And now I think the manger change and this person (cliff) gave me hot time. He don't want me to work out & may be because I'm Asian. Since last month when ever I go the gym he said everytime different story. He said I can't worked out because I don't paid for gym. I provided my bank statement for six month that shows my bank is paying & I have proof of six month statement , but won't believe . And I have to quit gym .he not allowed me to enter the gym & at night after work I went to resolve the problem again he was not their & I left note for him. And he called on my home phone & told me why I went to the gym. He said I don't have to allowed. I told him I just went to fix the problem , he won't listen anything & I ask for the phone for their company owner he don't want to give me . maria of philadelphia, PA July 1, 2009 To Whom It May Concern: Please be advised that only one day after starting my membership with Planet Fitness, I cancelled due to overcrowding which caused me serious anxiety. I l waited 1 half hour for a machine and walked out on my first visit. On January 31, 2009 I cancelled my membership by mailing a letter directly to the South Philadelphia location. Following sending my letter I continued to receive bills and could not understand why. I placed a numerous amount of calls to that location and received no response. At that point I cancelled my credit card. I have most recently been in contact with Brian Turner of this location who refuses to cancel my membership without a 58.00 buyout which in fact planet fitness owes me monies because I cancelled before the three day legal contract grace period.. I completed a Cancellation form which he refused to process. He was completely pompous and unprofessional and displayed no customer service. He also refused to give me any contact of a higher level that can assist me, being I never even worked out at the gym. I am extremely furious and plan on referring this matter to the Better Business Bureau and/or Legal counsel. PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS MATTER ACCORDIGLY. Peter of greer, SC June 26, 2009 I moved to SC in Sept of 2008. I called to cancel my membership and was told I need to do so in writing which I did. It is now June 2009 three letters later numerous phone calls to no avail. Today I faxed a copy of the latest letter requesting cancellation and followed up withg a phone phone call. I think 9 months is enough time. Low and behold when I asked to speak to the manager I was greeted by the most rude unprofessional individual I have ever dealt with. After he basically called me liar They leave me no other choice but to turn to every consumer group, regulatory agency and media that will listen Damary of Yonkers, NY June 24, 2009 My contract with the mentioned institution expired (which I paid without using the facility because of multiple medical problems), and they continued making charges de my credit card account. It made my interest payments grow up Upkar of Panchkula, India June 8, 2009 Planet Platinum is a chain of Planet Fitness.. I singed up a contract for 1 Year with them for which all fees were paid in advance with a clause, that they will sell the membership on a notice of 2 months.... since i was on a project in south Africa and have to leave the country on completion or project, i requested them to sell our memberships....not its been more than 6 months and they are not responding... William of Biloxi, MS June 6, 2009 In February, I joined the Biloxi gym Planet Fitness and wrote a blog post mocking some of their more inane practices. Since then, going there has been uneventful and boring; nobody there has so much as said "hi," but neither has anything made my experience there awful. When I got there today, however, after being greeted with the usual request for my gym ID number, I was told that my membership had been canceled. What's more, it had been canceled over a month ago -- on April 30 -- with no notice to me. Why? The lady at the front desk could not tell me. She called her boss, but it took 15 minutes to get an answer. Finally, the reply comes that my account has been canceled "in reference to some things that were said on the internet." Wow. Really? If that's referring to what I wrote, it doesn't say much for the self-esteem of the owners of this Planet Fitness that they surf the internet looking for comments about their gym. But it says even less about their respect for their customers that they would actually cancel my membership without telling me based on an opinion that was posted on a tiny blog three months ago. I am starting to understand their business model, though; the 60 startup fee is a sweet deal for them when they can cancel your membership after two months. Well, guess what, Planet Fitness? That's disrespectful behaviour. The community gym here is more welcoming than you, and they have no budget and something like 15 machines. Others have summed up what's wrong with Planet Fitness here, and I'll just add one thing: your basic refusal to treat customers like adults. Rebecca of Vernon, NY June 4, 2009 I was amoung many customers who had their bank cards reissued after a fraud alert. I had to redo paperwork and give them the new card number. They sent out a notice that said they would refund the fee they imposed if I was amoung one of those customers. I was but they still charged my bank card the additional fee. I asked them about it and they said just give them a voided check and they would take it out of my checking account without the fee and cancel the bank card transaction. I was confused as to why, their explanations did not make any sence to me I don't even know still why I had to do it that way. I asked for a reciept or something on paper proving they cancelled the bank card transaction and they wouldn't give me anything. The guy that came over to help the lady said they don't do that. Don't worry we gaurentee you'll never be double charged. So I look in my account today June 3rd and they took out 39 more dollars(I just paid them on May 28th). I called them thinking they double charged me and the lady said it was my annual fee. Wo, I asked her why someone didn't mention that to me and why I didn't recieve any reminder in the mail. She says to me ....... Well last year people were cancelling when we reminded them because May would have been the latest time for you to cancell your account. I said well how was I supposed to remember that? I don't have any money in that account becuase I just had the issue with changing cards and accounts with you guys the other day and she said, It's on your contract I can't do anything for you.... I said thanks for nothing and hung up Debra of stuart, FL June 3, 2009 They tried to bill my expired bank card which did not go through resulting in fee. It is very profitable for them not to ask for a new date. I have refused to pay. They have refused to accept my cancellation until I pay for their mistake. Report Your Experience
