Yale will stop foreclosures

Adrienne of Clinton CT (11/1/03):
I underwent two amniocentesis procedures at Yale in 2001 for fetal goiter. They billed me improperly, misinformed me that they were in my medical plan, then put the wrong address on my medical records so that the bills didn't come to my home. Also, they billed me twice for each medical proceedure by claiming that there were two billing centers -- one for the school and one for the hospital.

After numerous calls between my insurance and the different billing departments, I was able to get the bills submitted. However, a significant amount went unpaid, due to the double billing and improper charges. Yale had immediately turned my account to collections as soon as it went to 90 days, even though we were trying to get them to work with my insurance company to receive payment.

Subsequently, when my insurance only paid half the bill, they had their lawyers enter a claim against me in small claims court, which I was unable to answer since they seemed to refuse to correct the address issue and send me the documents until after the date.

I am now declaring bankruptcy, since my credit was totally ruined by Yale's greed and ineptitude. I believe that the reason my Graves disease has not gone into remission is partly due to the stress this whole situation has caused me.
