Smoke Assist told me it was only $9.99 in shipping and handling. After saying that was fine, they told me that this plan signed me up for a $69.99 monthly cartridge plan. I asked for it to be canceled. I was talked over, told it was already processed and told it was already too late and that it was going to be sent (After 20 minutes they had already packaged my order and had it ready to be sent? Yeah right!).
Finally after an hour on the phone, I got it cancelled or so I was told. Two days later, I got a call from valuepass.com, journeypass.com and several other 3rd party companies telling me I had signed up for whatever offers they had which all involved monthly charges. I canceled with all the 3rd parties, again or so I thought. A week and a half later, Smoke Assist showed up at my doorstep. I called and told them I cancelled and they told me they had no records of me cancelling and that my cancellation number was invalid. They told me, "We will cancel your order now and you can keep the Smoke Assist free of charge."
First month comes by, Smoke Assist charges my account $69.99 and 2 other 3rd party vendors charge my credit card totaling just over $250.00. The next morning, my credit card no longer worked and I got a call from the fraud department from Capital One. They told me that it looked like fraudulent charges had hit my account in the amount of $500.00. Smoke Assist had charged me 8 separate monthly cartridge refill orders and 8 separate shipping and handling orders. I called Smoke Assist and they told me that I had personally ordered all 8 because that's what their records reflected, and I would not receive a refund. So now I'm out just over $750.00!
Needless to say, Capital One investigated it, after 2 months of investigation I was proven correct and the money was debited back to my account. Now, I have this ** Smoke Assist e-cigarette that cost me a lot of time and a lot of money so I figured after almost 3 months of having the package, I'd open it up and try it. It didn't charge and it didn't work.
These guys are scammers. Do not do business with them. Do research before you even call, they sell your credit card information, your address, your cell phone number and your name to 3rd party vendors. The BBB will not help you (these companies pay the Better Business Bureau for ratings, trust me I used to work for book-it, I know how it works, the company pays the BBB an annual fee to be listed and rated). Just do not do business with them! Keep smoking regular cigs because you will end up smoking a whole lot more from the stress that these people will cause you. Run away. This is a 100% true story. I have all the records from the investigation from my credit card company. To this day, 6 months later, I am still receiving phone calls for different promotional offers and when I ask how they got my number they tell me you must have recently visited one of our websites and signed up for this program (Smoke Assist is one of the websites they refer to).
