Patients Assistance Program

Gary of Kentucky writes:

I was wondering if you could write a story about this so-called Patents Assistance Program? I mean the Health and Human Services is always telling folks that this program will help with their medications. I have to agree, it does -- that is if you can the doctors offices to fill out the paperwork that consist of about three or four lines.

My wife takes 13 medications and the cost is more than her income, which she worked for all her life. Her income is all of $700. Just one of her meds is over $200 bucks, all in total her meds run every month $300.

Now please tell me, how is she going to do this if I were to die? Let me do a little math for you;

  • her rent=$250
  • her electric=about $65.00
  • her phone (which she has to have for the doctors to call) runs close to $55.00
  • her heat is $125.00 =12 months year round
  • her car insurance $62.00 not even counting the gas or maintenance on the auto

This isn't counting the handicap shoes she has to have hand made every year, which run about $600 once a year. Oh yes, and there's the food issue. Well Alpo Dog Food won't be too bad if I die!

But any way, the program that I spoke about above really sucks! The doctors will not have the flunkies or employees fill out the paperwork so my wife and folks like her can get their meds free from the medicine companies that are willing to give folks like my wife and others that need it!

But according to our goodole government, "There's help out there for people with low income."

Can't the government ask the doctors to get off their dead rear-ends and tell/ask them to help people and don't worry so much about their huge pay checks that they get from Medicade/Medicare for their half-*** care they give their patents?

I am a vet myself and this really bites big-time! I am one of no telling how many that are sick to death of this "free country." What the hell is free, besides us dying for it? And our Government telling us that dog food is okay for human consumption! I wonder if Bush digs into a can every night like a lot of people do? I bet not!

I sure wish I were giving out the tickets to Heaven or Hell.

We recommend Gary check out www.themedicineprogram.com, a small volunteer organization that, for $5, helps consumers through the application process.
