Netflix

Cecile writes: I've been with Netflix since Jan of 2001, and find their service to be worthwhile. You pay a certain fee depending on how many movies you want out at one time, and when you return one, they mail you another. They have an extensive library of dvds one would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. I have found that if you watch a movie and return it within a day or two of receiving it, you average about $2 - $3 per movie based on your monthly charge. I CAN rent them cheaper at a local drugstore, but they don't have anything close to the selection netflix offers. The only disadvantage I experience is mail delays (I pay the same amount every month whether a dvd takes 2 days or six days to make its way through the postal service), but I think it's worth it to have access to IMAX movies, old Twilight Zone episodes and lots of great stuff for the kids.

We joined Netflix after some friends told us about them. We really enjoy the flexibility of using online ordering - what we want to see, when we want to see it. The DVDs generally come within 2-3 days. We pay $20 per month for as many movies as we want. The max you can have out at a time is 3 DVDs. We usually rented 2 movies on average from our local video superstore each weekend. At a cost of $3.50 each we got a limited choice of the current videos because they were usually checked out by the time we got to the store. Then, of course, we had to get the videos back by the next day before midnight or we would be charged for another days rental.

With Netfilx you keep the DVD for as long as you want. You get 3 videos at a time, when done, you pop it back in the mail (which is postage paid) and the next item in your rental queue is sent out to you upon receipt. You can re-order your rental queue at any time. The company cooresponds with you via email - every step of the way. You get an email notifying you that your selected video is going out in the mail. Then when you send one back you get an email notifying you that the movie was received - there's no guesswork here.

If your assigned distribution area does not have the movie you want, they will send you the movie from another distribution center - plus the next item on your list too. Never had a glitch, never got a bad DVD. I got My Big Fat Greek Wedding on my list as soon as it was announced. The day after the movie was released to the video stores it arrived in my mailbox. This is a company who seems to have their act together and I know that my family will enjoy their services for many years to come. Thumbs up to Netflix!
