Good Guys

Direct Merchants Bank

A reader writes:
Our home burned down in Dec 2000. I contacted as many creditors as I could advising them about the possibility that statements were destroyed and I didn't have anything to know who was not paid. I asked them to please have patience with us as it was a very difficult time and all our records, checkbooks, etc. were gone.

Some of these guys that are on the Good Guys were not such good guys. We were very low on money and had to purchase everything from top to bottom. It has costs so much money. I never realized. Some of these companies were fine, some seemed to get a little upset when they realized we no longer had the security of a house. Some even demanded the entire amount now. Some sent us bills 5 to 10 times every week, some phoned every day, one is taking us to court.

When I spoke with Lynn at DMB she listened to me, asked me questions about our animals. She was very kind and encouraged me to talk about anything. I consider her to be an angel in human form. She then said of course there would be no late fees and because we were in such a difficult situation our payments would be deferred for three months, and knowing we had nothing but the clothes on our backs assured us that there would be no problem using our card even though our payments were deferred. We have several credit cards and the so-called bad guys were the only credit card company to listen to everything we said, and helped us get through one of the worse things that can happen to people.
