Big John's Moving, Inc.

1602 First Ave.
New York, NY 10028

Audrey of New York writes:
"The best movers I have ever encountered." That's what my sister said when she came over during my move.

My move was on a very tight turnaround. I have a small baby, and flew into NY to select a mover, pack up a one bedroom apt, get the stuff picked up, and fly back out - with no wiggle room. I left my baby in Ohio with my mom and sister, and had to return on time. I researched ahead before flying out (including using this site) and had appts. for four different estimates. I will say that Molloy (found on this site) was one of the companies and I was very impressed with them, as I was with 3 of the four companies that gave me estimates. However, because of the peculiarities of my move (a narrow Brooklyn street, tight inflexible schedule, and problematical delivery address) Big John's was the company I selected.

I am happy with my choice. Big John's moved me, and went to extraordinary lengths to do it. I moved in late January, from Brooklyn, NY, and the trailer arrived in Ohio in early Feb. during a snowstorm. I live on top of a hill at the end of a winding gravel drive. We knew at the time of booking that a trailer wouldn't make it, so had arranged for a shuttle truck. The driver, Freddie, had called regularly before arriving in OH to make sure that everything was clearly arranged and understood. When they arrived, it was determined that even the shuttle truck wouldn't make it up the hill, and so the load would go back to NY until the next run. At that point, Freddie's colleague was musing about a tractor. I said we had a tractor and boy, that set them off. They were determined to get my stuff delivered. But, I should say even before that, they had offered to find anything I wanted on the truck and to bring it up by car until the "real delivery".

Freddie and Norbert, the driver and his colleague from Big John's, dug in and began to transfer everything to the shuttle truck and ultimately, they got everything up the hill, the shuttle being pulled by the tractor during a snowstorm! Then, they didn't stop. They carefully laid down blankets so nothing was tracked into the house and let me tell you, they did a great job. One piece of furniture was delivered damaged, and Freddie clearly and carefully showed it to me, and both guys were so totally professional and pleasant that I felt real gratitude to them at the end of the day. And it was a long day - they were there from 7:30 a.m. to about 10 p.m. They made sure that everything was done and they did it with so much courtesy and patience that I was actually pretty cheerful the whole time.

The pickup/load team was also great. They were so friendly, so without even the tiniest trace of attitude or obnoxiousness, that it immediately reduced my anxiety about the whole thing. They were super efficient, and Big John's had sent four guys so that it would go quickly.

I received a binding estimate, so that there were no surprises, and the estimator carefully explained everything to me. Afterwards, when I had additional questions and requested clarification, they agreed to let me make notes on the bid, and to initial the changes and fax back to me. So, the office staff was also very helpful and patient. Mr. John Healy runs an excellent company, and should be commended.

I am a very happy customer.
