Consumer Complaints

Mercedes of Springfield OH (02/06/09)
I've rented for 15 yrs in 5 states. Never had a problem til now. Due to illenss, I got behind and the phone calls have been up to 10 a day, to include my last job, disclosing things to my contact people, calling hospitals in regards to me... making threats of coming with the sheriff to have whoever is home arrested... they are unprofessional, uncaring, lying... laughter and friends when things are going their way only.... I do not wish to return any of the merchandise, I've paid too much.... now that I have my income back, they are demanding all of it instead of allowing me to pick up where I left off.... also, on the bedroom suite, I never even signed a contract on that merchandise.

Stress, illness, embarassment... my sons and wives came over the holidays to visit and also see about me and my health and the calls and door banging was non-stop while they were here as well as before and after. They attempt to get anyone they can to open my door so they can return stuff.... they speak to my neighbors about me... it's this a violation of my rights? where do the laws of harassment stand?

I have purchased a brand new RCA 62 flatscreen tv. But in the last year of 08 we had to replace the bulb in the tv now going to be our 6th time since we had this tv . I bought it spring time in 06. So here i have but lots of money into this tv and now all i keep doing is sending it in to have bulbs replace. I would like to know what is the next step to take care of the matter. Or i will let everyone know online through emails, phone calls, and the word of mouth NOT to purchase anything that says RCA on it. So please im asking is some help on what is the next step.

There is no damage done to the tv other then the bulbs keep going out!

You should probably take a look at yourself before you start bashing rent to own..You should know what you are getting into before the process even starts. If not, then it's understandable why you need to rent and you have bed credit. Obviously you have made bad decisions in the past. It's explained in the beginning that you are to make on time payments. Just like any other bill, this one is not optional. No matter if you are 1, 2 or more then 3 days late..you will get a phone call. It's called communication. if you can not make a payment on time, make a phone call and you will be worked with.

Just because you have made 3 or 5 payments on a tv or whatever it is you are renting, does not make it your own. it is still rent a center property and we reserve the right to repossess it at anytime your payment is delinquent. it is in the contract..maybe you should take a look at it. A few months into your agreement you start to complain of the weekly fees..Well, this is what you signed up for. Maybe you should look into what your doing before you do it. You are told your options before renting, and if it happens that you were not told, you always get a copy of your agreement. READ IT. If you can't afford your merch anymore, RETURN it. it is not yours, and that is considered stealing. You can always pick up where you left off and we would be more then glad to hold it off for you.

I have had nothing but excellent experiences with RAC. If everyone on here has had bad ones, why do you keep going back or keep on renting from them? Stop your complaining...get a job, make your payments on time and then the rest of us good customers won't suffer the consequences. I understand why they do what they do. Why do you think you can pay when you want? I happen to have good credit but choose not to have credit cards and I like the 90 same as cash. You should be happy that there is such a company that caters to bad credit people like yourselves. You chose Rent-a-Center they did'nt choose you. Live with it.

I have been doing business with rent-a-center for about 10 years or so, and I nust say that their service has gotten worse over the years. I have paid off several items from this company and now I go to make an payment on an TV that was about 4000 and I owe and little over 100 and I was told that I cant get anything else becasue of my poor payment history, so I asked to speak with an supervisor beause this guy was rude and they gave me the 800 customer service number and they were just as rude. I do not recommend this company to anybody...the employees there do have no respect for the people who are responsible for keeping their doors open.
