NC Furniture Buy Direct Internet Furniture Seller Slapped With Court Order
Consumer Complaints

More about Furniture ...

Unhappy of Philadelphia PA (08/06/08)
It appears that ncfurniturebuydirect.com is selling under a different name of ncfurnitureunlimited.com. Go to www.ncfurniturebuydirect.com and scroll to the bottom of the site, click on the line with North Carolina Furniture Buy Direct, Inc. it goes to a www.ncfurnitureunlimited.com site. So I went to the BBB report for this company NC Furniture Unlimited and it is the same owner, Russell Buck. So Buyer's Beware

Susan of Onset MA (01/13/08)
I ordered a brand new leather living room set, which cost close to $1700.00. I did not receive the furniture nor did I receive a credit to my credit card. I complained, was told I would receive the credit, but did not. My credit card company tried to fight it but they could not get the money. Now not only do I not have a living room set, but I'm also out $1700.00.

John of Independence CA (05/08/07)
This company is a complete fraud. They sell you furniture over the internet and then deliver nothing. You can't get a refund either. I lost over $1,500 to these creeps.

I called the district attorney's office and filed criminal complaints against them. The law enforcement is about as useless as the company as I never even got a reply or call back. I even offered to fly out there to testify, or sign statements if needed. This is ridiculous. The worst part is, High Point, NC is a furniture making capital of America and this company steals money from honest businesses.

Mary of Charlotte Hall, MD (04/07/07)
We went, we looked, we bought.  We left with the best feeling in the world. The sales lady - GREAT! The owners - GREAT!  You get that real Mom and Pop feeling

The items are never in stock and you do have to wait for deliveries for a few weeks but even that was okay. One item we purchased was not the correct item, so I called and even that was handled great, but when I called the next day to let them know I had decided to return the item things got so weird.

They put "the owner" on the phone who said they were closing in 5 minutes. It was 11:00 am and they had just opened at 10 am. Weird right? I hung up, called back and asked to speak to the women owner.  A young girl got on claiming to be the owner. I questioned her about the fact I thought she was a older lady but she insisted she was the owner.  I know this girl was too young to be the lady I talked to for a long time the night of the purchase.

The weird thing is that I was never mad about the simple mistake.  I told the person I understood mistakes happen, so to be treated so strange threw me for a loop.

Also beware - on the bottom of the receipt you sign it says "no refunds, store credits only".

Priscilla of Monmouth Beach, NJ (02/24/07)
I ordered a bedroom set on 3/14/2006 and charged the amount of $2,915.20 on my credit card.  I never received the set or refund.

Priscilla of Monmouth Beach NJ (02/24/07)

I ordered a bedroom set on 3/14/2006 which totaled $2,915.20 on my credit card. I was told to allow 4-12 weeks for delivery. They gave me a date of 6/6/06 and it's now Feb 2007 and I have not received it.

Yvette of Brooklyn, NY (01/10/07)
I purchased the 6-piece set from NCfurniturebuydirect on 6/12/06 from Demitius for $3450. I received an email from Jessica stating the 4-12 week delivery date expected on 9/11/06. I called back to speak to Demetrius or Jessica and was told that they both no longer worked there.

The week before the expected delivery date I called and Cheryl told me that there was a delay with the delivery, and to call back. I have called and called for weeks and all I ever get is an answering machine that was too full to leave a message.

Yvette of Brooklyn, NY (12/17/06)
I purchased a 6-piece queen suitef from NC Furniture Buy Direct online on June 13, 2006.  They said the expected delivery date was 9/11/06.

I called and someone told me that for some strange reason there was a delay with delivery. I called back for weeks and still no answer.

I have sent emails with my debit purchase receipt and still no answer. This piece cost over $3400. I want a full refund.

Tony of Snellville, GA (11/12/06)
I placed an order for leather furniture and an armoire for $2070 in October 2005. After repeated phone calls and emails concerning the status of my order, I had to contact the Better Business Bureau in May 2006.

They finally agreed to refund my money and obtained my card number again; however, when they processed the refund only $1070 came back on my account at the end of June 2006. I called them and they stated, after getting my card number again, the refund would appear on July 14th. The refund was never processed - they were always calling accounting and told me to check in a few days.

I called repeatedly and many times the phone rang and rang, then just cut off. I did reach the Customer Service manager, at one point in August 2006, who emphatically promised to return the call with a resolution. I could never reach her after this! The dept was either closed for the day or they were to open after lunch.

I finally got an attorney involved and then I contacted the NC Attorney General's office. I sent a copy of the lawsuit to my Credit Union, in hopes of getting the remainder of my money refunded. I will never order furniture sight unseen again!

Gaelen of Killeen, TX (11/11/06)
After losing everything in hurricane Katrina, the first thing I wanted to do was start over and help my 5 year old son do the same. So, I purchased a bedroom set for him in May 2006 and received emails once a month about my order, which was to be delivered in late July 2006. Late July came and no email or order.

So I called to cancel and get a refund. I was told to call my bank to do a charge back but because it was past the 90-day allowance the bank couldn't help me. I was told to call NCF and get the money directly from them. I did.

Cindy VP of Customer Solutions was supposed to be on top of it and call me back. I never received a phone call so I called and got a recording. Everyday I called until that recording got replaced with an operator saying, "This number is no longer in service".

I couldn't believe it, $1200 down the drain and my sons clothes are still in boxes!

Jennifer  of Slidell LA (11/01/06)
I ordered $3000.00 worth of furniture in January and like everyone else have been given the same run around. I have had to give them my credit card number numerous times because they conveniently can't find my information to refund me. I have been talking to Cheryl who promised to get my refund for me and now there number is no longer working.

Ram of Kenner, LA (10/17/06)
I placed an order on 01/25/2006 for a two sofa set and paid $1,681.50.  I never received my furniture and recently tried their contact line which is not available any more.

Jeffrey of Sayville NY (10/11/06)
I ordered over $6000 in living room, bedroom and dining furniture in Oct. 2005 and was told in Feb 2006 that my order was misplaced. This is despite the fact that they assured me several times during Dec. 2005 and Jan 2006 that my order was being processed and would be shipped by the Feb 2006 date. I told them that I would wait the additional 12 weeks for them to reorder my furniture from the manufacturer. It wasn't until April 2006 that I got an email stating that they didn't think they would meet the April date that I was hoping for.

I then requested a refund and was told that I would have to request it in writing and it would take them 21 days to evaluate my request. I feel that the only circumstances under which this scam company will deliver is if the product is on the manufacturer's shelf. Otherwise they will hold your money indefinitely until you contact the proper authorities.

I was very fortunate in that I did put this order on my credit card. They require you to pay in full in advance. NEVER TRUST A COMPANY THAT ASKS FOR MORE THAN JUST A DEPOSIT!!! I did get my refund through the credit card in May 2006 and proceeded to Raymour and Flannigan with my refund money. Raymour and Flannigan delivered my furniture in only 3 DAYS (as advertised) and their prices were just as good. By the way they only charged $90 to deliver my whole house full of furniture. My advice is to order furniture from people you can actually speak to in person.

Juliann of Brightwaters NY (10/09/06)
I am shocked after reading all the complaints against this company. I placed an order for a dining room set in 7/06 and was scheduled for delivery on 9/25/06. When I did not receive a call regarding this date of delivery I tried several time to reacch a representative. I could not reach anyone by phone or by use of the furniture track system on the internet. My sinking feeling that I was scammed is now a reality after reading the results of this consumers affairs report. I am now in the process of trying to get a credit on my card in the amount of $5,712.39!!!

My question is, If all these people are being scammed and reporting it to consumers affairs...why is this web site allowed to continue and display a security label as well. Where is our protection?

Carolina of Doral FL (10/03/06)
Ordered a leather sofa set for $1,117 on June 13, 2006. Expected delivery date September 11, 2006. Order confirmation received after two weeks. Then no mor communications. Ask for a full refund on Sept 11, haven't got it. They also asked me to give my credit card information again to make sure they get my money bact to me faster. I've been calling for about 8 days and nobody answers. I already file a complaint with my credit card company.

Mark of Forney TX (09/18/06)
Ordered furniture on 5-13 today get a call from shipper furniture will be here on th 20th. But it appears what I ordered and what is going to be shipped are two cards from 2 different decks. Well called visa to get money back from them, that aint going to work either. So for my money, and I doubt I will every get a credit card refund. I better take what I can get and sell it retail to someone close. This is a bad experience never again will I do this over the internet.

Larry of Clearwater FL (09/13/06)
Apparently I'm just yet another victim of this company. Back in Dec.2005 I ordered a entertainment wall unit from them. This was to be a Christmas / house warming gift to our oldest daughter. They just bought their first home. They were so excited. Apparently delivery takes 4-12 weeks. About 10 weeks out I called to check progress. I was told it was being processed. A week later I get a email saying they are having material problems ,its going to take another 4-12 weeks. ( I should of tried to cancel right there )So I decided to keep the order coming. Of course we went the whole 12 week period again. Now its June 2006 and still no furniture.

I called NCfurniturebuydirect talked to a Jeanie (I was told Stacy no longer worked there) She suggested that the company will just cancel my order & give my money back. This is what I called to do anyway. So I agreed and I thought that was it.

Month went by, still didn't see my credit card credited back that money. So I called again. This time they say its going to take weeks just to get my money back and they need my credit card info again to process the return. Didn't understand that one. They should already have that info from original order, but I gave it again. Every 2-3 weeks from that point I have been calling to no avail.

I just want what's rightfully mine. 800.00 is 800.00. At this point we are going to use the money (if we ever get it back ) to help my daughter get a new kitchen ,which they need badly. They are trying to adopt a baby and we really want to do this for them. That money would help.

Kathy of Troy, MI (09/04/06)
I waited 10 months for delivery of $5000 worth of furniture that never came and couldn't get them to credit my card. Took the Attorney General's office complaint document to my bank and they did a charge back. NCfurniture still has not put my credit through. Fortunately my credit card company already paid me back.

I found out the manufacturer and ordered it directly from them. It took two weeks and I saved $100.

Iya of Vernon, CT (08/18/06)
I ordered some furniture in April 2006, with a delivery date of July 12th 2006. I was contacted only once via email two weeks after placing my order, and never heard from them again. I started calling about a week before the delivery date, only to find out that the product that I had ordered 4 months ago was no longer being manufactured.

I'll spare you the headache of the details of communicating with them. I have requested a refund since early July, and it's now mid/end of August and still nothing. No one can tell me when the refund will appear on my credit card. And the refund lady is conveniently absent all the time.  They owe me $1809.68.  I called my credit card company to report the charge as fraudulent, and somehow Sharen, the VP of customer relation, was present to answer the credit card company.

They promised to call me back by August 18th for an update and of course nothing came through.

Michael of Philadelphia PA (08/10/06)
I purchased a bedroom set on 3/18/06 from this company.  Payment had to be paid in full to process the order, so we paid by certified bank check, $3823.

As of 8/10/06 we have received nothing.  I have made several phone calls this week requesting a full refund.  The owner will not take or return my calls.

I am out $3823!

Joanna of Waynesville, MO (08/07/06)
I placed an order in April 2006 for over $5,000 and was told I would receive my furniture in about four weeks. After four weeks, I called and was told that they had up to twelve weeks time frame on delivery. So, I waited.

The twelve weeks elapsed and still no furniture. I called numerous times, left numerous messages but they never returned my phone calls or they leave me on hold for long periods of time. I have sent a letter requesting a refund.  They keep changing the dates, telling me that they are backed up on refunds and my paperwork has been sent to the bank.

Veverly of San Bernardino CA (07/27/06)
I ordered Dining Room furniture from the above company four months ago and was promised a delivery date of July 10, 2006. I paid this company 1900.00 and they assured me that I would receive the furniture within four to twelve weeks. On July 10, 2006. I called the company and asked what happened and after being placed on hold repeatedly I finally talked to the customer representative Jeannie and she said she could not tell me what happened but she would investigate and let me know. I talked to another representative on the following day and she told me that as far as she could tell my order had never been submitted to the manufacturer.

At this point I would like the company to refund my money. I have waited in good faith and I sent the entire amount and feel as if I have been a victim of fraud with this company. My husband and I live in California and are on a fixed income due to his disability.

Kelly of Doylestown PA (05/18/06)
I ordered a set of leather furniture from NCfurniturebuydirect.com on 1/25/06, with a stated 2-3 month delivery time. On 3/30/06 I contacted the company to find out the status of the order. I was told it was delayed, and would take an additional 2-3 months. I cancelled the order, and mailed a cancellation letter. On 4/12/06, I called and confirmed they received the letter, which they did. They stated they were backed up with refunds, and I would receive a call the week of 4/17. I did not receive any call. I faxed them on 4/20/06 threatening legal action. No reply. I then contacted my credit card company to file a dispute form. I was told it was outside of the 60 day window for disputes, but given the delivery time was supposed to be 3 months, I should file it anyway. They would contact the company. on 5/16/06, my credit card company refunded me the entire amount for the furniture.

Lidia of Desert Hot Springs CA (05/17/06)
I bought 2 bedroom sets back in july 2005. I only received partial shipment of 1 order in Dec. 05. I called & spoke to Dena fro customer service & she said she was sorry but the other item was no longer available. I was told to order another item in its place because I wasn't able to cancel the order. So in December I ordered another item. It is now May & I have called numerous times & have senta cancellation letter & asking for a refund. I have beeen told someone will get back to me & I have not heard from anyone. So I have sent them a letter stating that I have taken action & will sue them for breech of contract & fraud.

I have half a bedroom set & I will probably never get what is missing & my daughter has nothing. I was even asked to callll the manufacturer because Dena said that she was told that they would only talk to me. Now, what kind of bull is that? I've had to go out & spend another $700 to buy a bedroom set for her room.

Cynthia of Bayonne NJ (05/15/06)
On March 10th 2005 I ordered a leather sofa set. It was to be delivered in mid-june 2005. The last week in June I called the company and was told that they could not find my furniture and it wasn't in stock. On july 1, 2005 I cancelled my order. After numerous phone calls (99% of which i was told someone would call me back and never did), I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I am still waiting for my refund.

Mike of Kernersville NC (04/06/06)
In response to complaints about this company, all customers need to do is contact bank which purchase was made thru and dispute charges. State that what was purchased has not been delivered and or problems have not been taken care of. Bank will do a charge bank and customers are refunded their money thru the bank.

Companies such as NCFurnitureBuyDirect who do not follow up adequately with customer service issues, and give people the runaround on refunds give other companies a bad rap.

Bobby of Biloxi MS (03/23/06)
We placed an order via their website in December - our debit card was charged the full amount of $576.75 on December 23, 2005.  We were advised that total process time would take between 4-12 weeks. We waited a reasonable amount of time, made inquiries for an update on order (order #456354) and were always given a reply that the order was in process. Then, on March 2, 2006, "Charmin" emailed us, stating that there would be an additional delay of 8-12 more weeks.

Immediately I said I wanted to cancel, she said I needed to confirm in writing, which I did (also faxed our cancellation.) Since then I have sent repeated requests for our refund and am getting nowhere. I have filed with the Central NC BBB, and have called the Attorney General's office, who is very familiar with this company. All we want is our total refund. We lost everything we owned - home and possessions in Hurricane Katrina and are trying to get back to as "normal" a life as possible. It's beyond frustrating to have to deal with something like this during this difficult time.

Warren of Silver, Spring MD (03/23/06)
On 12/07/05 I placed an order with this establishment, and one of their salespersons by the name of Buddy M processed the order. I read their return store policy very carefully, and understood the content very clearly. Mr. M replied it could take anywhere between 4-12 weeks for delivery, depending on weather conditions, and factory production.

I contacted ncfurniturebuydirect.com in Feburary of 2006 to check on the status of my order, and to my suprise not only was my order not ready for shipment, but the  product  (dinner room set) is no longer being manfactured. Otherwise if it was not for my follow up call this unprofessional company would have left my order collecting dust on their desk. I asked why has not anyone contacted me about this mishap, and the saleperson replied "I do not know."

Robert of New Orleans LA (03/19/06)
I ordered bedroom furniture online from NC Furniture Buy Direct. The order was placed on November 19th 2005 for approximately $1700. After receiving no communication from the company for 60 days I called to find out the status of my order. After 14 days of repeated phone calls, I received an email stating that my furniture would be shipped on February 6th.

On February 27th I called to find out the status of my order since it had been three weeks past the promised delivery date and I did not have any furniture nor any communication from the company explaining the delay. On March 2nd, I contacted the Greenboro Better Business Bureau to see if they get any response from the company. To date the BBB has not received any response from the company.

Michelle of Marengo IL (03/01/06)
Ordered Dining table, 6 chairs and China Cabinet in February 2005, took delivery September 2005. Promised delivery in 4-12 weeks, took 7 months. November I e-mailed to report a small flaw in my table and wanted it fixed. No one responded. I called Dec 19, 2005, talked to Jeanine, She told me to send pictures through e-mail to my sales rep, Demetrius. I did that, he did not respond.

I called on December 28, 2005, talked to Cheryl. She told me to re-send the pictures to mdillon@ncfurniturebuydirect.com and they will get back to me. No one did. I called on January 9, 2006, could not get through to a person so I left a message. No one responded. I called again on January 25, 2006, talked to Stacey. She said to re-send the pictures - again - to Sheryl@ncfurniturebuydirect.com and she would respond. No one did.

I called on February 7, 2006 at 9:20 a.m., they asked if they could put me on hold, I said yes, and was on hold for 30 minutes. I hung up and tried again, it rang three times, someone picked up and hung up on me. I wrote an e-mail to all of the addresses I have begging for someone to respond and told them if they did not respond by March 1 that I would start the complaint process. I have not received a response. I tried one last time on February 27, 2006, called and asked for the owner, Gary. I got Tommi, a girl that says she works directly for Gary. I told her my issue, she said, and I quote, "I PROMISE I will return your call by the end of the day." It's been three days, no call.

At this point all I want is the flaw fixed. I cannot use my table the way it is, the flaw has grown so that now part of the finish will flake off if I try to wash the surface. I can use a local furniture medic, but I don't feel I should be responsible to pay for the repair, NCFurnitureBuy Direct ADVERTISES a 5 year warranty. I love my furniture, but will be looking for another furniture company when I fill up the rest of my 6,000 sq. ft. house.

Peggy of Havelock NC (11/29/05)
In early August I purchased a sofa set from this company. Immediately after ordering the set it was no longer on-line in their catalog. I called to ask if it was discontinued and they said no, they were redoing their photos. It still is not on-line. Shortly after this, I received a confirmation e-mail with another woman's name on it. I emailed to company to ask if there was a problem. They told me there was not.

I have been calling to find out when my furniture will be delivered but keep getting non-answers. I was told I could call back everyday if I liked, for all the good it does. A little before Thanksgiving I called and was told that I could only speak to a woman named Candice, who, in the past has been putting me off...Now, there is an answering machine and I cannot even reach a live person and no one returns the messages I leave. In addition, the auto tracking system they have on-line is disabled as is their email within the site.

My furniture was due to arrive about October 24, 2005 and I cannot get anyone to tell me what is going on. I am being avoided. Candice did, at one point tell me they had just had a sale (October) and my furniture was on one of the trucks in the back that hadn't been unloaded...the last time I was able to reach her she said she had lots to do to from the sale they were having and were running behind...Ok, but what does a sale in October have to do with a purchase in August? The furniture was not on the truck and I can't get an answer.

Kathleen of Huntington Station NY (10/24/05)
I purchased a dining room set online and was told it would be here 6 to 8 weeks by James on July 17th of 2005 and it was a nine step procedure and you will be kept informed via e-mail. I was e-mailed a total of two times and the last e-mail was August 24th and it told me I was only on Phase two which meant I had a long way to go. I called James up in early September to ask him why the e-mails stopped and he said he would call me back. He never called me back. I waited in hoping he would call.

I called him back Oct 4th again and he was very unpleasant to say the least. I did ask him at that time to leave a message on my home phone and let me know what the status was. He emailed me that same day and said pleas call me in regards to your order. I called him again Oct 4th and he said there was a problem with my order. I then told him I would like a refund. He said it would take 6 to 21 days for a refund depending on your financial institution. I called my financial institution and they said 10 buisness days tops.

I then waited 10 days and it was not refunded into my account. I called again and was transferred to the refund department. I spoke to a Cheryl and she was very short with me and said James never told here therefore it would be up to 28 days for refund. She also said she would e-mail me with more info and never did. I am sorry to bother you but I waited 20 years for any type of new furniture.

Patricia of Melbourne GA (08/17/05)
I ordered two tables from this company. When the delivery service (United Logistics) called to set up delivery, I was told the fee was $140. I canceled the order, the delivery service refused and tried to deliver two days later. The furniture company charged me a 35% restocking fee and the $140 delivery fee. I have paperwork that states if canceled, would be charged 30% restock fee and any actual delivery fee.

I disputed the entire amount, which was denied, then received notice from the furniture company that now I would be charged the 35% restock fee, the delivery fee of $140 and another delivery fee of $140 for the return trip of the truck back to North Carolina. Calls to this company are not returned. I feel this company only has to take orders and if ALL were canceled, they would still make money. I was also charged the full amount of the furniture on my Visa as soon as the order was placed, even though it was not due to be shipped for 4-6 weeks. The lady at the shipping company (Shannon) was very rude and informed me that I could NOT cancel my order or refuse shipment.
