Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I purchased furniture from NC Furniture Unlimited in May 2009. I kept getting the runaround about the one piece of furniture not fitting on the truck that was delivering to their warehouse, so they were holding my order so all could be delivered at once to me. These were lies, lies and more lies. In Nov 2009, I finally got 3 pieces of furniture. My order was missing a chair and half, coffee table, and metallic side table.

Oh, did I mention my sofa arrived damaged, and I was given the runaround about having a furniture repair person come to fix it or have it replaced? In short, I'm **. I'm only writing this to see if enough of us can get a class action against this now bankrupt company, and those that kept allowing them to start up other business. We need to hold all parties accountable.

NC Furniture Unlimited could not have done this multiple times, using different names, if they were not allowed to ever do business under any fictitious name, or straw party again. Declaring bankruptcy is **! A lousy ** like that more than likely got it stashed offshore. If he don't have money he still got **, and I want my piece of it. I lost the money, paid out over 3 grand. I'm a senior citizen. I think they committed federal crimes using the Internet, and taking money over the phone long distance. I want everyone of us that got ripped off to band together on this lousy **. There is strength in numbers.

I placed an order on June 15th for a formal living room set. They promised the order will be delivered at no longer than a maximum of 80 business days but usually it takes a lot less and the average delivery has been 20 to 30 business days. I kept checking with them at 2 months and 3 months later, and they were telling me why are you even calling it is not the 4-month mark. As if the maximum delivery date is the norm or standard. Four months later I called and the excuse game started from one person to another on weekly basis. "Will call you back. Will call the manufacturer and get back to you. The order is being inspected. We are waiting on the love sofa."

A lie after another for months until I found out by end of December, over 6 months from my order, that they called it quits. I believe they are a fraud all along, taking orders while never planning on delivering. Every review I find out is a compliant about the same scam, and I believe the same owner did this once before with another furniture company called Ncfurniturebuydirect.com. I got cheated out of thousands of dollars.

I placed an order for 7 ppc double pedestal glass collections for $2874.38 on 10/06/09 - order # 4794. I got confirmation on 11/22 that my order is confirmed. but after that no one picks up the phone.. I called many times left voice messages, no one returns the call. my furniture is past due. no info. Not sure what is going on..now I read all these responses that others are having the same issue and company is out of business. not sure what to do?

Ordered an entertainment center on 8-18-09 (order # 4485). On 8-19-09 my order was received and indicated as "paid in full" with my American Express card. After checking on the order over 50 times by either their "log" on the website, e-mail, or online chat, I found out on 12-15-09 that the company was out of business. I immediately disputed the amount ($2343.60) with American Express. They are investigating the dispute and I have been advised that it could take 4 to 6 weeks.

Thanks to Julie, I also filed complaints with the N.C. BBB and the Attorney General's office. The Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General's office sent me a copy of the letter they have sent to this company regarding my claim. I wish there was some way to know how many people they have scammed and some way to communicate with each other about our experiences and options.

My story is nearly identical. Ordered and paid for furniture that I have never received. I've filed complaints with the BBB of NC and now with the NC Attorney General's Office. Their advice was to have as many people that were affected by this scam of a company to contact them and file a formal complaint. Their information is below.

It's been well over due for dilivery time.So I have been trying to call them and e-mailing them and getting no response. Not a very happy camper here. It was'nt free. now I'm out of alot of money as far as I'm concerned. To be exact 1377.43.

Placed an order for a living room set on 6-15-2009 was promised a maximum of 80 business day but usually it takes 4 to 6 weeks by experience of receiving order person. 4 months later and many calls, I was told many reasons for delays each time, and finally they are out of business after keeping taking orders and pocketing money.

NC Furniture Discover Disputer case # 5622556722 damaged dresser. 092309 Angie left a message she will once again get with the manufacturer to see whether they are going to replace it or have someone refinish it. The finish on the dresser just came off when I would set items on it for a month...totally junk. The finishing tech needs to look at it. She said she has been having trouble sending an email to me. She said I could reach her at 866- the number that showed on my caller ID was 336-.

101609 spoke with Angie and she said the manufacturer was only going to give partial credit but Angie got her manager involved. Angie told me they are trying to get a replacement for me. She told me she would give me a call today. Angie left me a phone message during the afternoon saying she could not get a hold of her manager and will take care of it on Monday.

Spoke with her on 102309 at 1:15 pm she said they will just be swapping it out. She said they already ordered me a new dresser and it should be a week or two. She told me she will give me a call when they are ready to bring it. 111209 during the morning called and left message for Angie to call me she never did

Spoke with Angie Hamilton this day 111609 at 2 pm she said it should be coming from the warehouse in a week or two. For the past week I have been sending numerous e-mails and calling their number and it does not go to a voice mail and nobody responds to my e-mails. Today's date is 121009 I finally hit an extension #22 and left a voice mail not sure to who at this number 866-. This evening is when I called Discover card and made a dispute.

on October 16, 2009 I spoke to Amy K. and order a dinette Table and 6 chairs with 3 counter stools the manufacturer is Riverside. I was looking at the website for Riverside and this was a place that i could purchase the set from so I got a reasonable price and estimated delivery time of 6 to 8 weeks so I gave my MasterCard for $1,200.00 over the phone to Amy and thought the set was ordered.

I Called about 3 weeks ago and spoke to Amy and she advised me that the I would be probably getting the set in the next two weeks I told her more than once that I needed enough time to be notified about the date because I purchased the set for my Florida Town House which is a rental property and I would have to go down there to accept the delivery.

I then called the week of Thanksgiving and there was a recording that the store was closed for the week. So then i tried calling end of last week and Monday every time I called there was a recording stating all the representatives were busy went to operator no answer after calling for 3 days in a row throughout the day I decided to go to the website perhaps another number I could contact someone. When I went to the website I then saw they were out of business. I advised the renters that I was purchasing the set but now I don't have the money to purchase it somewhere else.

On 9/1/2009, I ordered dining room furniture (table, 4 chairs and china cabinet). I paid $1995 with my debit card. I expected delivery in 20-80 days. E-mail queries were unanswered. I called customer service the middle of November and was told that some people in the back weren't doing what they were supposede to do and that the 20-80 days was BUSINESS days( Mon-Fri). That would be 12/24 at the latest. I went to the web site for an order status update and found their "sorry" letter about going out of business.

I order a Naples 4pc collection furniture from this place on 07/27/09 .
The cost of 1419.60 with my debit card

and did not get my delivery . I called this place to check on my order many of times and was told it was beening custom made and it will take about 80 days , still they were emailing updates on progress of my order, They pross the order ,they were pulling the order and this company just went out of business to contact your credit card company and dispute the charges

I ordered a Lane Cedar Chest on October 17, 2009. It was supposed to take 4-6 weeks to arrive. It has not arrived. I have emailed and left phone messages and there has been no response. Voice mailboxes are full and no further messages can be left. Now the NC Furniture Unlimited web site indicates the company is out of business. This is new since yesterday. They recommend filing a disputed charge with your credit card company to recoup money. I did this with my bank, USAA, and and they said I should have a full refund tomorrow.

I had order 2 pieces of furniture from NC Furniture Unlimited on May 18. Currently, I was told that the furnitures are located at Apha Omega delivery warehouse. However, they are not going to deliver the products because of some financial situation they have with NC Furniture. I had just claimed a dispute with my credit card today and they are investigating the issue.

I placed a phone order with NC Furniture Unlimited on 6 July, 2009 for a 4 piece Living room set made by Leather Italia for $2886.24, paid by credit card. According to terms on website at that time furniture would be delivered (on all orders) between 20-80 business days, today is day 101. I have made several attempts to get a reasonable status update but have only received run-around. On 30 Oct, the store Manager, Brandi J lied to me and told me the furniture is in Lenior, NC and should be picked up on the Nov 6th. I have called and emailed numerous times, trying to get an update and no one can ever give me an accurate status. Now no one know where the furniture is. I get the standard run around.

I live in Alabama but will be driving to 118 South Walnut Circle, Greensboro, NC to speak to Brandi J in person.

I placed an order on July 11, 2009 for dining furniture in the amount of $1486.00. They state that it will take up to 80 days from manufacturer acknoweledgement to get the merchandise but continue to give the run-around after 3 months. I found the online complaints about this company (which apparently was operating under another name at one point)and realized that I have probably been suckered. I reported it to my bank today and they are investigating it. I may have just learned an expensive lesson! I am out $1486 and much aggrevation.
