Nationwide Warehouses

Bronx, NY

A.W. of New York City writes:
I purchased one bunkbed and two twin innerspring mattresses from Nationwide Warehouses on 3/21/99. I paid $100 down payment and $437 by COD. I was told by the salesperson Luis the bunk bed would have Allen screws, and the bed along with the two mattresses would be delivered after 7PM.

I went home to discard my sons' beds to make room for their new beds. At approximately 8:45PM on Sunday night a man by the name of Franklin delivered the bunk beds and two mattresses. I then gave Franklin $440 in cash; the balance was $437 so I should have received $3 in change.

After Franklin received the cash from me he tells me the mattresses he delivered are not the ones I ordered. He stated he would bring the correct mattresses on Monday March 22,1999 between 2PM and 3PM.

I stayed home from work to wait for Franklin to bring the mattresses and he never showed up. The following day,I called Nationwide Warehouse at (718)665-3090 and spoke with the salesperson (Luis) who sold me the bunkbed and mattresses. He stated I was scheduled for delivery today with no specific time.

At approximately 12:20PM on 3/23/99, I called the company and asked to speak with the manager. A woman by the name of Evelese came to the phone and I explained the entire situation to her. I stated how my family and I were inconvenienced and the company was behaving in a very unprofessional manner. Evelese then tells me the delivery man will bring my mattresses the following day 3/24/99 at approximately 3PM.

In the meantime my sons are sleeping on the floor, due to the fact the screws that came with the bed (which weren't Allen screws) did not fit and they were unable to use the mattresses Franklin mistakenly brought.

The manager Evelese seemed unsympathetic to my ordeal, so I asked to speak with her supervisor. She gives me a bogus phone number to the main office in Ohio. The phone number she gave me (614) 448-7898 gives a recording saying there has been an area code change to (704). I try calling the phone number with the (704) area code and I get another recording stating the phone number has been disconnected.

I have been continuously calling Nationwide Warehouse to no avail. I keep hearing the same old story the delivery man will be there.

As of this writing, I still have not received my mattresses. I am very upset and would really like a full refund.

I cannot speak for the other locations, but the Bronx NY location at 700 Grand Concourse needs to be disbanded. With all the stress and discomfort this company has caused my family, I believe they should put the beds together free of charge, (that is when they finally get here.) I am going to take legal action if this situation is not rectified immediately.
