Martha Stewart patio table shattered, lazy susan center left intact. Had to replace table and unable to find something to match chairs also had to replace them - an entire patio set that was an unexpected expense three days before Labor Day with company expected.

GEORGE of ALIQUIPPA, PA September 3, 2009

Shattered patio table top for no apparent reason, Martha Stewart brand

Kim of Jasper, GA September 2, 2009

The glass patio table exploded. Glass is everywhere. I have 2 more of these Martha Stewart time bombs on the deck. I now have to replace the tables. I can't find anything like what I lost. My little dog was scared, but luckily unhurt. I cannot let my children play outside because of the other 2 tables. I am going to try to tape them tonight so clean up will be easier.

Ellio of Barnegat, NJ September 2, 2009

Just as many others have stated...I heard a strange sound and when I turned to see what the sound was, I saw the shattered glass from the Martha Stewart Patio set covering my deck. The weather was beautiful and sunny, temp was in the low 70's. How inconvenient-Damage to my newly stained deck and a ruined patio set 3 days before our Labor Day BBQ.

Wendy of Coral Springs, FL August 30, 2009

Well, it finally happened, I've joined the elite group of people all over the United States that have a Martha Stewart patio table, minus the glass top. I woke up this morning to a patio covered in millions of pieces of glass. Sometime during the night it exploded. We purchased this set at Kmart close to nine years ago. At least we are lucky enough to have owned it long enough that I feel we got our money's worth out of it.

I first heard about the table's defect several years ago. But what do you do, get rid of a very nice table set, because it might explode? Well, when you put it like that....anyway, After a time I even forgot about it. Luckily, no one was around the table when it happened. I really don't understand how no one is being accountable for this issue. Well, time to shop for a new patio set, and I certainly will not be looking at any Martha Stewart products!

NICHOLAS of clearwater, FL August 30, 2009

Kmart patio table by Martha Stewart glass top all of a sudden shattered yesterday morning about 11:00 AM. No one was sitting at the table at the time. Table is worthless without a top.

Barbara of Havertown, PA August 28, 2009

I have had my Martha Stewart Victoria Collection patio table for approximately 10 years. I loved that table. It had grace and style and it was affordable. Unfortunately, when I returned home from errands last Monday I was about to let my dog into the back yard and noticed a lot of reflection and shiny material on the flagstone patio. I realized to my horror that it was the remains of my [once] beautiful table!

The umbrella was positioned above it, opened, and had sustained no damage from anything - i.e. a falling limb, etc. - and I had to surmise that the table simply imploded on it's own. The weather was mild and sunny - I just could not understand what had happened - until I GOOGLED K-Mart Martha Stewart Patio Table, and was amazed that it brought up (many) complaints just like mine! I called my husband, who did a search and told me later that the company who manufactured the table for K-Mart had gone bankrupt suddenly, and then I called K-Mart and was told they are not liable for the table.

CAROL of MOHAWK, NY August 27, 2009

Had this table on my pool deck. For a month only we were about to have a birthday party and I went to take the umbrella out and the table just shattered right then and there. Couldn't even believe it. Still have the pieces of the table here.

Susan of Victoria, MN August 26, 2009

WE had a Martha Stewart Outdoor Dining table EXPLODE on us this past weekend. There were children around and we had to spend 2 hours cleaning it up b/c it was down on the grass. WE also had issues in the past w/ the paint peeling on the chairs. I would like compensation for the cost of replacing or fixing the table. WE now have no outdoor dining table and we do not feel that we should be out the cost of a new table for an obviously DEFECTIVE piece of furniture.

Kathleen of Citrus Heights, CA August 25, 2009

I went in my backyard two weeks ago to water my plants and discovered that my Martha Stewart Glass Patio Table had shattered into a million pieces! I thought maybe it happened because it was too hot outside, although it was only 82 degrees, and it had survived many, many days over 100 degrees. I have been looking everywhere for a new patio table, but it has been very difficult because they are out of season right now. I decided to google Martha Stewart Patio Tables to see if I could order a replacement. That is when I came across several articles that state that these table tops are notorious for shattering! I thought that I would share my experience, so that you would know that it has also happened to me.
