Consumer Complaints & Reviews

My wife and I went to a La-Z-Boy Gallery on a Sunday to purchase two Pinnacle Rocker Recliners. We spent considerable time making a decision about fabric versus leather for the covers. The sales lady who had been very helpful mentioned that she had two all-leather chairs being delivered to the store the next day. They were discontinued, because the new chairs now have man-made material on the back and sides rather than leather. She said the chairs were reduced to $699 each since they were discontinued. And she said the truck usually arrived around 9 or 10 in the morning. So we asked her to call us on Monday when they arrived at her store.

By noon, we had still not heard from her, so we called. She said the truck was there, and it was being unloaded. We asked that she call us once she had verified that the two chairs were on the truck (I was going to have to take off from work to go see them, so I wanted to make sure they were available for us to see).

After an hour, we still had not heard, so once again we called. She said they were there, and she was going to call if they had not been on the truck. I took off work, and we drove to the store to see them. After some time spent considering the pros and cons of the chairs which were all leather (and not returnable as they were discontinued) versus fabric, colors, etc., we decided to take both chairs.

When she had entered the information into her computer, I realized the total price she had was well over what I had anticipated based on the $699 each she had quoted. When I questioned her, she said the chairs were indeed $699, but they had a "treatment" that added $100.00 each to each chair. At no time had $799 been mentioned. In fact, several times she had stated that the chairs she was bringing from the warehouse were $699.

Taking off from work to see the chairs was an inconvenience. I don't know if we would have considered the chairs, had she been truthful and quoted $799 as the price initially. We might have felt like it was still a good price. However, it was impossible not to feel that we had been misled deliberately. So we did not purchase the chairs and would not recommend that store to anyone.

I rushed through the sales experience with no explanation of things, like if I picked up the chair instead of having them deliver it for $125. They now want to charge me $70 to come and check out a defect in the leather. It has only been in use for 3 months and has cracks in the leather footrest. This is a $1800 chair with "the best leather". I now have to borrow a truck, get someone to take time to help me load it, and drive 35 miles round trip to take the chair to the repair center, hoping they will cover the defect. Looking back, the attitude was very much to get the sale and run, we will dodge any issues later. They are not customer orientated and living off a reputation that no longer exists.

Do not buy from this company! They are dishonest shysters.

I purchased and paid for a couch and love seat from lazy boy with a scheduled delivery of one week after date of purchase. I received a call 2 days before delivery date from the store manager stating they were "postponing" delivery because they inadvertently undercharged us for the product.

I have yet to receive the couch (which was prepaid) and have yet to receive any justification from the corporate office. Not only is the bad business practice, but it is unethical and a failure to fulfill the written contract (sales invoice).

My goal is to provide a service to shoppers. Don't waste your time or money at La-Z-Boy because this store and company is not looking out for their customers. The employees do not know anything about their products even after showing them their website.

I walked into a showroom to purchase a love seat to go with my La-Z-Boy sofa. I did my research and I knew what I wanted. But when I went into the store, it was a disaster. The salesperson was clueless. To make a long story short, I decided to come back hoping I could get someone who had a clue of the store products. When I did, the piece I wanted was on sale. I was ready to purchase it but they said the piece was out of stock and my choices were: 1) to buy the love seat on the floor or 2) to place a special order which I would not get on a discounted price and had to pay for a special order.

When you call the main number, they only want to send you the showroom. I went to another showroom and they only wanted me to buy the showroom product, which is on sale, and they said it didn't include anything else.

On October 2, 2008, I purchased a Lazyboy recliner from Besche Furniture. In June 2011, it came apart. Beshe sent out two employees who said the chair had a manufacturing defect. Then Mario came out and said it was not a manufacturing defect but rather, wear and tear.

I am not a heavy person (170lbs) and I expected the chair to last at least 10 years. He did refer us to a repairman who fixed the chair. I am angry at LazyBoy. They do not stand behind their product. This chair cost me over $700 and it lasted a little over 2 years? This is unacceptable to me.

I contacted LazyBoy and they did zero. I would like LazyBoy to know they lost a customer. I will never purchase another of their products and will spread the word to others about their faulty products.

My husband and I went to the La-z-boy store on Rt. 31 to look at a sofa we found on the La-z-boy website. The sofa was the Padova. When we arrived we were greeted by Tony F. We expressed our interest in seeing the Padova sofa. Mr. F informed us that the Padova was recently moved from the store's display. We explained that we were still interested in purchasing the piece. Mr. F showed us the Padova in the catalog and we told hom we knew what it looked like, that's what brought us to the store to see it in person. Mr.F showed us a similar piece, and went through a display of how La-z-boy furniture is made. Mr. F told us we could order the Padova and gave us a card with a phone number to call to order the sofa.

While Mr. F went to the service desk to give us time to look around, my husband and I came across a sofa that was in the front of the store on display that was the same color as the Padova but made different. We were looking at the price which was quite a bit cheaper. When Mr. F returned we expressed our interest in the sofa. Mr. F stated the sofa was named Donovan and had arrived in the store 2 days ago. He explained that it came with another piece which wasn't attached at the time. Mr. F then looked at the price and stated the price was a sale price, which was marked $849. Mr. F then stated the sofa was priced entirely too low and it had to be a mistake, but if we wanted to purchase it they would have to sell it to us for the price on the sales tag. He then stated he'll be back and took the sales tag to his manager.

When Mr. F returned he stated the sofa was priced wrong mistakenly and they would have to change it. We told Mr. F we wanted to purchase the sofa at the price that was displayed. Mr.F stated he had to get the manager to speak with us. Mr. F returned with the manager and stated we wanted to purchasse the sofa at the price that was displayed. The manager stated we couldn't purchase the sofa at that price, because it was marked wrong by mistake. We stated we were told by Mr.F that the sofa was priced wrong, but if we wanted to purchase the sofa they would have to sell it to us at the price it was marked for. Mr. F then stated that was not what he said. Mr. F said, "I said we may have to sell it you at that price".

The manager then stated it doesn't make a difference, I'm not selling it to you for that price. He stated it was marked wrong, he was the one who put the sale tag of $849 on the sofa and it was a mistake. He said if we wanted to purchase the sofa it would be at the price that now was on the sale tag which was $1059.

I purchased approximately $10,000 worth of living room furniture. I was outright lied to four times throughout my dealings with this company. First I purchased a matching Chair, Couch, and Loveseat. I was told the leather was genuine ostrich by Barbara T. I made it clear to ask if this was real ostrich leather because I purchased a briefcase 10 years ago made of real ostrich and it was more than the couch she told me the supply has increased and the ostrich is much cheaper to purchase now and this is a great deal. So I told her I would buy the chair, couch, and loveseat plus three expensive tables for the living room set if she would throw in the 4 pillows on the couch in the showroom. She agreed and wrote the deal up.
When I was ready to leave I asked for the pillows and she said they were the designers pillows and she would have to tell the designer to replace them in the display. When the couch and chair were delivered the chair was ostrich and the couch an alligator pattern with different shades in color. So I called the store and was told the couch only came in the alligator pattern not ostrich. Lie #1. So I called the La-z-boy in Dallas Texas and the salesman told me the chair and couch and loveseat all come in the ostrich pattern but it is not real ostrich. Oh really? So I went to the store in person and talked to the manager Roly R who was shocked and said he would talk to the district manager. He called me the next day and said he would special order the couch and loveseat in ostrich pattern but it would take 12 weeks. Then he faxed me the bill.

The couch went up from my original price for the real ostrich leather of $2549.99 to $3330.00 -- $780 more. The loveseat went from $2449.99 to $3230.00 -- $780 more than the original invoice and not real ostrich. Plus they charged me $109 for each pillow that was supposed to be in the deal at no charge! That's an additional $439.60.
