Hampton Bay Patio Furniture

Hampton Bay Furniture, sold by Home Depot stores, is manufactured by JRA Furniture, headquartered in Cerritos, Calif., which proudly boasts that its furniture is made in "factories throughout Asia." Yes, and we can think of many consumers who would have been happier if JRA's glass=top tables had stayed in Asia.

Besides Hampton Bay, JRA's glass-top tables are sold under a number of brand names, the most notorious being Martha Stewart. Her line of patio furniture, sold by Kmart, has produced an explosion of complaints from consumers about its nasty habit of exploding all over their patios and decks.

See Sounds of Summer: Martha Stewart Tables Shattering for all the gory details.

I purchased a Lasserre 7 piece patio set and only 4 months after the purchase the table glass shattered into a million pieces.

I am having trouble contacting Hampton Bay because the number, that came with the furniture, is a non-working number.

I have absolutely no use of the table without a top.  It took me a long time to make sure I got up all of the millions of pieces of glass on the patio and in the grass.

Charmain of Morristown NJ (05/08/07)
In the middle of the night, my husband and I heard a mini explosion on our backyard deck. To our surprise, we saw our Hampton Bay patio table with shattered glass all over the deck. We purchased the patio set a year ago and there was no reason why the glass on the table would break. Nothing dropped on the table to shatter the glass. Luckily our children weren't on the deck playing when it occurred - they usually play on the deck with their toys throughout the day. However, the glass did explode onto their toys (scooters, table, cars) and the rest of the deck.

My husband spent the next morning cleaning up the mess and ensuring there wasn't any residual glass to prevent any future injuries.

We are now left with just a frame of a patio table which renders it useless. We use our patio set to entertain during the spring, summer and fall. Since the table is useless, we are out 599.

I purchased a glass top Hampton Bay Lasserre Patio/Bar set and the glass top shattered into thousands of pieces for no reason at all. I have tried every option possible to get a replacement but no one is cooperating. I have been told to just buy a new table as having new glass cut is more money than replacing the whole set. I only owned the table for approx 6 months.

In 2005 I purchased a 4 piece Hampton Bay outdoor patio set (4 chairs, glass table & umbrella and stand). After taking the item home and setting it up about a week later the table exploded. Thousands of tiny pieces of glass were everywhere. There was nothing setting on the table at the time. Nothing to explain this. I contacted Home Depot and explained the situation. They gave me another table (same brand).

Fast forward 2 years to today (5/1/07), the same exact thing happened again. I have to question what is going on with the glass in the tables sold by Home Depot?

Our Hampton Bay Lasserre table, purchased last year at Home Depot - completely shattered yesterday! No one was near the table, thankfully, but we ran outside after we heard the crash and then watched as the shards continued to crackle and pop on the ground underneath the table! It sounded like popcorn - weird. I have been trying to come up with reasons for this all day, but could find no explanation until I logged on to the internet in search of a replacement table and saw the article and other accounts on the JRA company glass and learned of the class action.
