I purchased a Sandhill sectional patio set from Wal-Mart, which I had shipped to the store for free delivery. After it arrived, my husband picked it up from the store in Hamburg, NY and the box was torn. My husband thought it would be okay since there were cushions on top. But after getting home and putting it together, we found the table top dented on both ends and also scratches on the one section of seating area. Since it said to call and not to return to the store, we tried customer service to reorder the little tabletop and would just deal with the scratches. After trying to call the service number several times and they would hang up on us after waiting for them to answer 30 callers, we tried for two hours and then I decided that was enough. My husband will be returning the set back to Wal-Mart with our receipt for full refund! I paid over $500 for the set. I will purchase a set made in the USA!

I ordered a patio set, Lawson Ridge 5 pieces from Wal-Mart. Fortunately I had them delivered to Wal-Mart for my pickup at the store. I received the chairs right away, but the table took several days longer. When the table arrived at the store, it was already broken. Wal-Mart returned it back to the manufacturer and they cancelled my order for the table. So now, I have four chairs and absolutely no table. You cannot just order a table from Wal-Mart, you must re-order the entire set again. After reading the comments about exploding table tops, I feel lucky that I had the table shipped to Wal-Mart first. At least, I don't have to pay for it now. Guess I'll just do without the table since I don't want one of their exploding tables anywhere near my family. If I hadn't read the reviews on this page, I might have ordered a table directly from Courtyard Creations. Now, I don' t think I need one. Thanks to everyone who posted here.

Incomplete packing job for $370.00 chairs - I ordered 2 patio chairs from JCP that were a product of Courtyard Creations, Inc. with taxes and delivery charges. I spent over $350.00 for two chairs. I waited weeks for delivery, received the chairs in a sealed box. I opened it up to put them together and Courtyard Creations neglected to include the assembly instructions, tools, and items required to hook the base of the chairs to the actual seat.
For nearly 2 weeks, I've had 2 patio chairs in a state of disarray in my place. I contacted the company directly and requested the required equipment. The representative stated it would be 7 business days and I would receive them. Well, it's business day 8 and I haven't received anything. I contacted JCP this time who stated that their records indicate it was only mailed today. So, 3 weeks with chairs that I cannot use for $350+. One would have hoped that they would have acknowledged their error and created a bit of a push to correct it, like sending it express or overnight, or something showing a conscience and concern for future business. Not so. Poor business ethics and lack of oversight in the packing process, clearly.

RUS4971 Swing is shredded at the bottom/ back seam after only 1-1/2 years. After looking closely, I found pupa, larva and adult bugs in the seam. These bugs did not come from North America. After 2 phone calls and promises to hear back from Courtyard Creations, I have heard nothing. These bugs came from China where it was sewn. My next call will be to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.

Hammock fabric ripped to shreds in one summer: I bought a freestanding hammock from Fortunoff last summer. A couple of rain showers and the sun, and the fabric started ripping until the batting was showing. It cannot be used again, and there's no recourse because Fortunoff said they don't carry replacement cushions and the hammock is manufactured in Taiwan! So it's $100.00 down the drain.

We purchased the 7-piece Rolston patio set. We can't put together one of the chairs because it isn't tapped for the screw.

I bought the patio set at Kroger last year. Tabletop finish is peeling. I just bought the set last summer. It had a waterproof cover on it over the very mild winter. The umbrella mechanism also broke before the season was over last year.

I received a Courtyard Creations patio set for Mother's Day last May. It was used until September of last year and stored. I recently pulled it out and set out a few of the chairs and pads since the weather has been favorable. Yesterday morning, I left for work only to get a call from my husband two hours later telling me that the table had shattered for no apparent reason. He took a picture with his cell and sent it to me. I told him to leave it until I got home so I could see if something hit it. I took several more photos to document the breakage. I am completely disgusted that we paid $400 for a set from Wal-Mart and it didn't even last 5 months outside.
I have had other tables for 10 years outside and never had anything like this happen before. The glass is a mixture of chunks and dust! Wal-Mart won't take it back. After reading about Courtyard Creations and other people having the same issues (with nothing being done), I don't plan on pursuing the company for a replacement. Quite frankly, I am just thankful that the kids and our dogs weren't injured in the glass "explosion" that shot glass for several feet. Buyer beware: this company is selling a dangerous product and it is only a matter of time until someone gets seriously injured. God forbid!

While working at Kroger's, a co-manager asked me to clean the patio furniture in front of the store. After cleaning a patio furniture from Courtyard Creations, I placed an umbrella in the center, and was stepping back from the patio table, when it exploded. The explosion was so loud, that several customers and employees came running over to see if I was okay. One lady kept saying there was something wrong with the table, because she saw everything. There was a defect or something, and was glad to see that I wasn't all cut up. A gentleman said, "I was sitting on the tailgate of my truck waiting for my wife, and watching what you were doing, and you did not cause that table to blow up and I couldn't believe I was bleeding from all the glass".
He said it was like a cloud of smoke, after the table exploded. I asked him if he could please go let the store manager know that I did nothing to cause the table to do this, because it was the six chair Courtyard Creation patio set, and I was worried he would not believe me, and make me pay for the set. That was at 8:00 AM. I didn't get off until 3:00 PM. I had to get my children out of school, have snack, and then take a shower. A couple of hours later, one of my co-workers asked me why I had all the glitter all over me? I went to the restroom to see what she was talking about, and looking in the mirror, I could see white powdery stuff and glitter all over me. I washed my arms, face, and neck until the powdery stuff came off, but most of the glitter did not.
I showed her asking if she had some different soap in her department. When it still didn't come off, I figured once I take a shower, it would. What I didn't know was, those were glass fragments that was absorbed by my skin. After visiting with a doctor, I found out, it was in my eyes as well. Courtyard Creations has had complaints about this table exploding, and also Kroger's, and something needs to be done to recall all products of Courtyard Creations, before a child gets seriously hurt, or worse. This happened in July 2011, and I am still removing fragments of glass from my skin and eyes. This has caused me a lot more pain then anyone knows. Please stop Courtyard Creations from selling this, until they fixed the problem with their product.

I received my 3 pieces patio set and found that the bolts and part of one chair was missing. I had to take a grinder to the other chair so it would be assembled. I called for replacement parts in June but I have not received them yet. Very poor customer service and poor quality furniture.

I bought a patio set and two chaise lounge chairs from Courtyard Creations through Walmart. One of the lounge chairs came with no hardware to put it together. When I called the number for Courtyard Creations to request the hardware, they said it would be 10 days. I asked to have it quicker since it was obviously their mistake and they said that they don't overnight anything and the quickest is 10 days. That's not even customer service!
I just received the replacement "parts" today and all they sent is an envelope with the assembly instructions! This is the worst customer service ever. Luckily, I originally called Walmart and they sent me a replacement chair within three days. In terms of the patio table, it took my husband five hours to put them together and not one of the chairs had holes that match up. He had to use an electric drill and both of us had to pull the chair just to put it together.

Courtyard Creations glass table top shattered for no apparent reason.

We bought a patio set from Courtyard Creations. It didn't come with instructions or any screws for the chairs. While setting up the table, I was under the table placing the umbrella on the stand. The glass shattered into a million pieces all over me, cutting up my arms and face. I had glass in my hair and on my skin for a week. I took pictures of my bleeding arms and face and all the glass all over our deck. Thank God our children were not there. We called Meijer where we bought it, and they told me to go through the manufacturer. I did, and after arguing, they agreed to ship a new table top and the screws and instructions. They said a week, but it took almost 4 weeks. And when we read the instructions, we realized that the chair brackets were also missing. I am currently trying to deal with Meijer on just returning it, now that I read about all the problems with the table shattering.

I purchased a patio table set (Avondale model # TGS61JW), made by Courtyard Creations, mid-May of this year, from J.C. **. I was inside my house, when I heard a loud popping sound on my deck and found that the glass table top had exploded into tiny pieces underneath the table.

I purchased a patio table set (Avondale model #TGS61JW) made by Courtyard Creations mid-May of this year from J.C. Penney. I haven't even had it more than a month. I was inside my house when I heard a loud popping sound on my deck and found that the glass table top had simply exploded into many tiny pieces underneath the table. It was a hot sunny day (mid 80s), but I would expect that the heat should not affect outdoor patio furniture that way. As of yet, I have been unable to make contact with anyone at the company to see if they will replace the glass for the table.

Two years ago, we purchased a Courtyard Creation glass table patio set from our local Gerbes store. My family and I were sitting outside right near the table and it just exploded into a million little pieces! We couldn't believe it. Luckily our son was on the other side of the deck. So I called Gerbes and they told me I have to contact Courtyard Creations. As of yet, no one has called me back. I actually got on here to find an alternative website for the company and read everyone else's identical complaints. Unbelievable!

I work for a business that sells these products. The pieces are made in China. Perhaps if consumers would focus more on quality than price and actually put some effort into purchasing American-made items, your tables wouldn't be exploding. You get what you pay for, and you paid for Chinese-made garbage.

I purchased a brand new patio set (table and 4 chairs) made by Courtyard Creations from Wal-Mart in Moline, IL in May 2010. One very nice summer day in August 2010, I heard a large pop and what sounded like glass breaking. When I went outside, I found that my glass table top had exploded into a million glass shards. I had a huge mess to clean up and no explanation on why this happened.
I was only able to use this new table for 3 months and I am out of the money spent on the purchase. Thank God, my grandchildren where not using it at that time. They had arrived for a visit that day and we planned to use it for supper that night!

My husband and I bought a glass-top table at Walmart and had it for three days when the top shattered. Since the wind picked up the umbrella, we felt it was not the fault of the company or Walmart to replace it. But I will never buy another of their flimsy furniture. My husband used the base, replacing the glass with cedar decking to ensure the weight would hold the table on the deck.

I was having coffee in my home when I heard a big bang in our back yard. When we went outside, our patio set table top was shattered in small pieces of glass all over. We couldn't figure out what happened. My daughter thought something fell from the sky. When I went to find the website to see how to order a new top, I saw all the complaints with the exact same thing that happened to us. This could be very dangerous. Our three grandchildren, ages 2 thru 9 were eating out there the day before. Thank God, our dogs were not out there.

My glass table exploded into many pieces after a pop.

We purchased a Courtyard Creations Patio Table and 6 chairs from Target three summers ago. This morning, I was replacing the umbrella into the slot and the glass table top literally shattered into thousands of pieces all over our deck! I called Target and they sent me to Courtyard Creations. Their customer service guy was nice, but said there was nothing they could do. They don't carry the glass anymore and I would not want to replace it after reading everything on this website. If there is some kind of class action complaint process, we would be interested. We are out of over $600 for this table and the chairs were damaged by the glass when it exploded everywhere. We are very disappointed in both Target for selling such poor quality pieces and in Courtyard Creations for not compensating us for our losses.

Wow! It's exactly the same as the other complaints about Courtyard Creations glass deck tables. I purchased the table, umbrella, chair set new at Fred Meyer in Hillsboro, Oregon two years ago. Two weeks ago, I was resting in bed several hours before departing on a 12-hour drive to vacation in California when I heard a loud bang and thought it was the screen door slamming shut. I got up, saw the pile of shattered glass under the table frame and took several photos before cleaning up. The umbrella was not in use at the time and nothing was on the table. After reading the posts on this site, I'm not even going to attempt to get a replacement. I just wish I could get my money back.

I purchased a Courtyard Creations patio set from Kroger, in Lithia Springs, Georgia. It has been a couple of years, so I no longer have the receipts. Last week I heard a sizzling sound, and then a pop. Didn't think much of it since there are many sounds in nature. Later, I went outside to water my plants ,only to discover my glass table in a million pieces on the ground. Shocked by the sight, but luckily no one was out at the time.
I contacted Kroger but was told I needed to contact the manufacturer, Courtyard Creations. I called Courtyard Creations, and was told I was no longer under warranty, and would have to pay. After checking online, and seeing how many people have been injured by this product, and other tempered glass patio tables, I don't want a replacement. I want this company to be held liable for the unsafe products they continue to put to the public. I have not cleared the glass, yet as I am overwhelmed by the sight, and afraid to go near it.

I purchased a Courtyard Creations patio table two years ago and put it away every winter. I brought the table out this month (July) for a dinner party. I did have an umbrella on the table, but it was a beautiful summer day and when I returned from an afternoon away, found million pieces of shard glass all over my patio.
I will never buy another piece of Courtyard Creations furniture again after reading about all the tables exploding. There should be a class action suit against the company!

Tonight, my son was sitting at the table eating cookies. Thankfully he got up when he heard it crackling. He then called us and backed away just before the glass exploded. We thought he had fallen through the table. Does anybody know who we should contact to pursue this matter?

While visiting a lake house in NC I was sitting at the outdoor table on the deck and the tabletop shattered when the breeze blew the umbrella slightly! My hand was just under the tabletop, close enough that a large chunk of glass sliced the side of my thumb off! Luckily, the glass was tempered and as it all fell to the deck, it did crumble into small pieces or my injuries would have been far more severe. I had glass particles all over both arms and legs.
My husband had to rush me to the local hospital along with our two small children. After a few hours and some medical care, we returned to the lake house to clean up the huge mess of glass! This was all a real damper on our weekend trip, and really upset my children to see their mommy so hurt. I was shocked that an outdoor sturdy table set would do something so bizarre!

I bought a patio furniture set from acme store in Glassboro, NJ about 18 months ago. I kept this furniture stored in my garage and one day, I heard a noise so I went in the garage to see what the noise was and that is when I saw the glass from all three tables shattered in a million pieces for no reason at all. I paid a lot of money for this set and I planned on having this furniture for many years to come. I would like a refund or a replacement .

I purchased a patio set used. It is made by Abound Enterprises, using the name Courtyard Creations. The glass table top exploded into a million pieces of glass for no reason. My two young grandchildren were there, as well as my daughter. My daughter's hand was cut so badly, she was taken to local hospital, to the emergency room. She will be okay, but they have no medical insurance. I am furious at this company. Something has to be done, before more serious damage is done!

I also had the glass top of my Courtyard Creations patio table shatter. I happened to see it occur. Obviously, I can't speak for anyone else, but I suspect that most of these complaints happened the same way. In my case, a sudden gust of wind lifted the umbrella out of the stand. I apparently did not have it tightened down sufficiently. The problem occurs when the wind lifts it high enough to just clear the umbrella pole opening attached to the table base, which is about midway between the ground and the the table top. Once it clears that, the umbrella can tip over. The leverage from the weight of the umbrella can then easily shatter the glass once the pole passing through the glass gets to a certain angle. In my case, I simply bought a new top from them. I did have a problem with rust on the set and with my umbrella as well.
The glass shattered in countless pieces, none bigger than a pea. It was clearly my fault. Be sure you tighten the screw on the base securely and any time you are inserting or removing the umbrella, make sure you keep it vertical and don't lose your grip on it. If the umbrella tips, your glass is toast. They replaced my umbrella and sent me touch up paint for the rust. The customer service rep was difficult, but ultimately satisfied me. So, I guess you get what you pay for. I bought my set at a Kroger supermarket in Michigan. It was an impulse purchase. I didn't research it and I obviously was not at Kroger to buy outdoor furniture. Live and learn, I guess.

I bought a table, four chairs, two extra folding chairs and a three-person swing with canopy (all matching) from Wal-Mart two years ago. My glass top table also literally exploded with no reason. I contacted Wal-Mart and they replaced my table, no trouble, no hassle. They had heard of the manufacturer's problem with the table exploding. I don't know if they still sell that company's products, but they don't sell the items I bought. I have had to replace the canopy which basically fell apart ($40 from the manufacturer as Wal-Mart doesn't carry the parts) and now my swing cushion needs replacing. I don't know yet how much that will be. In addition, the legs are rusting on all the furniture. Although I feel Wal-Mart was responsive and gave me a new table, the quality of these products leave much to be desired and Wal-Mart shouldn't carry any of this particular manufacturer's products.

My husband and I purchased a 40" square Courtyard Creations Inc. glass table from Target. We loved it and it was perfect until one day, we went outside and saw shattered glass in millions of pieces all over our deck. We were dumbfounded by what could have happened. We called the company for a replacement and they wanted us to pay shipping on a new table top, which is ridiculous because the shipping costs more than what we paid for the table. I then got on the internet to see if we can find it cheaper anywhere else and came upon all of the complaints about Courtyard Creations and their exploding glass tables.

We bought a Somerset Dining set, including a large dining table, several chairs, a side table and an umbrella, from Wegmans Supermarket in Bethlehem, PA in the early summer of 2009. We enjoyed the furniture all summer. In late August or September of 2009, while home for lunch, I lowered the umbrella in anticipation of rain. I was in the house less than 5 minutes when I heard a loud crash. The table was completely upright but the glass top had shattered into a million pieces. The umbrella pole was slightly bent. Although it was not raining at that time, I could only surmise that a gust of wind had somehow swept under the table, causing the umbrella to hit the glass.
I realized this was far-fetched, but having no other explanation, I chalked it up to a freak accident and bad luck. I called our insurance company to report the accident. With a $500 deductible, slightly over the price we had paid for the table, we did not submit a claim. We planned to replace the table in the summer of 2010. This past week (4/5), as a contractor was looking at our deck, I explained to him why there were shards of broken glass between the boards. He asked me if I knew about tables spontaneously exploding.
This was the first I heard about this. Internet searches first turned up stories about other table brands exploding. When conducting a search today specifically about "Courtyard Creations," I discovered the testimonies of other consumers, their experience exactly like ours. I realize now that the loss of this expensive product is due to a a fault in manufacturing. I contacted the Wegmans store, where we purchased the patio set. They have promised to look into this. I plan to contact the manufacturer tomorrow.

I bought 3 seated swing from Fortune Off store, one year before, and the "Rear Cross Brace", which is a main structural bar of the swing, was twisted in normal winds. I can not use this swing without replacing the brace. I had a book which came with the swing, unfortunately there is no information about the company except their name. I had paid $300 for this product. The "Rear Cross Brace" was twisted in a wind, which support the main frame "Front and Rear Upright Support" can not be connected without replacing the bar.

The store will not refund my money but did provide me with a phone # which I called but the person I spoke to said that there was no warranty on the fabric, no website that I could contact and the only resolution was to purchase replacement cushions and canopy which of course would not be guaranteed. I did obtain an address and will write to the company. WALMART SHOULD NOT SELL THIS BRAND. I am out $200 and have a swing that is not safe.

I purchased two Courtyard glass top table and during a BBQ that I was having yesterday, the glass top exploded on one of them for no apparent reason. There were many family member standing by the table but my sister and nephew were sitting at the table when the glass exploded and broke resulting in both of them getting small shards of glass in their hands and legs. Glass particles were spread throughout my backyard and concrete patio. It was not an easy clean up and I fear for future events not only for my family and friends but also for my dog that enjoys the backyard. As I mention above I purchased two table and am in fear that the same incident will happen to the other table.

I bought a canopy swing in 2008 used it for two months last year and put it out this year and my mother sit down on it and the back of the swing the material just ripped half way up. This was bought at walmart in Indiana

Our son purchased a Courtyard Creations lounger. The lounger seating area is supported by flimsy threading that falls up very quickly, making this product unsafe. Much stronger, parachute cording type cable should be used instead. Very unhappy!!!

We purchased a 10 pc. patio set at a cost of over $300 from our Kroger store. The glass exploded on the large rectangle table suddenly, without warning. Fortunatety, no one was using it at that time. Courtyard absolutely refuses any responsibility as "glass is not warranted".

I purchased the Landry set from Krogers in Taylor MI. My son and I were assembling the set when I noticed that the connectors and tool kit for the last 2 chairs was missing. I contacted Courtyard Creations and spoke with Kathy on 7/3/09. She sent the wrong parts after waiting for a week. I called back on 7/14 and spoke with Nikki and she said I will receive the parts faster this time. I even offered to pay for the UPS because we was having guess over. Nikki said they will ship it. Another week or so passed and I called back on 7/27/09 and spoke with Daniel. He said the parts was out of stock. I asked for Manager and I spoke with Glenda. She looked at my file and said she will call me back. Well I didn't hear from her so I called and I was told she was unavaillable. I'm very frustrated because I have two chairs that I can't use. I don't know what else to do. This set wasn't cheap.

We purchased a patio swing model RUS453W (Home Trends North Hills outdoor swing) only last summer. This swing couldn't have been used a dozen times, but the seat sling fabric tore along the entire seam that connects the back support from the seat cushion support. Dry rot is not an issue as I was told it was. When not in use, it was covered. I disassemble and store indoors in the winter as I did with our swing that this one replaced, which cost $25 and lasted about six years. We are very disappointed and will probably never buy another product by this manufacturer.

I bought an 8-piece Courtyard Creations Inc. patio set recently. The table was assembled two days ago. I was putting the umbrella in the table yesterday and as I did so the table exploded and completely shattered. My five-month old was sitting in a bouncy seat right beside the table, and my five-year old was playing in her pool beside the deck I was on. Neither appear to have been hurt, although the bouncy seat is full of glass splinters. I had been kneeling beside the table leaning under trying to get the umbrella stand centered. My knee was cut and dripped blood for some time but is fine now.
We just recently had about a ton of river rock and pea gravel put down beside the deck, which is now full of glass and I'm sure there are fragments through the grass as well. The glass was spread all over the 10' square deck. My backyard will now be a hazard to my children as there is no way I can remove all the glass fragments from the rock and lawn. I don't know what to do. With a 5-year old and 5-month old, I don't know how I'll ever have time to try to clean it up properly. I purchased it at Home Depot and they have spoken to their insurance company who will be calling me within two days. That's it. So we're out the money we spent on the table and have an unsafe yard now for the children. I would like to sue the company to replace the lawn, landscaping and power wash the deck clean, as well as get a refund of my money so I can get a patio set that isn't a health hazard.

I have read online about numerous other people havign the sameproblem with this company, as wll as with Martha Stewart furniture.
I wish I had known beforehand--woul dnot have bought it!

In 2005 I bought a 10 piece patio set from Krogers made by Courtyard Creations, 1 large table 1 small table 6 chairs and 2 foot stools. In the spring of 2006 the small table shattered for no apparrent reason. Now in 2007 the large table did the same thing. I would like to know if this company manufacters under any other names so I may contact them.

i do not know where the company is located. we purchased a 10 piece outdoor patio set from Albertsons super market.
We were very happy with the set until about 2 weeks ago. We heard a very loud noise outside. we ran out and the glass top of the dining table had shattered. fortunatelhy, no one was around or they could have been cut. it was a beautiful calm florida day. most amazing thing i have ever seen. i took pictures before cleaning up the mess.
we talked to Albertsons about purchasing a new glass or table, in order to match the set and they gave us the above name and individual to contact. they have not returned our calls and I cannot seem to find the company on the internet.
Albertsons claims they have no more of these tables.

I purchased this patio set for my wife last april 05, for her birthday. Approximately, in July 06, for no appearant reason the table glass shattered spontaneously into a million pieces. thank God no one was hurt. Do we have any recourse against this defect?

We purchased a patio table and chairs from Fred Meyer. After about 3 months the glass in the table exploded for no reason. The table was not in use at the time and it wasnt windy.
Our 3 year old and my wife who were near by were covered in glass. Because it exploded in about a 12 foot radius.
We now have glass all over our patio and in the nearby grass.
This makes it very difficult for our children to play out side now, since I cant be sure all the glass has been picked up!

I purchased a patio table 2 years ago from Mills Fleet Farm. The manufacter is Courtyard Creations and they sell to Wal-mart, Mills Fleet Farm, etc. Just on Saturday my husband and I were inside and our children were outside playing. We heard a large "boom" sound and ran to the patio door to see what had happened. Thank goodness our 2 year old was standing close to the patio door and our patio table just shattered into millions of pieces. She didn't get any glass in her but was terribly frightened. Even after the table "exploded" the glass was making a cracking sound laying on our deck. Nothing had hit our table or anything affected it shattering. Not sure why it would just burst. We will never by another glass top one again because this could have turned out way worse with a serious injury to our children.
