Salmonella: What It Is
More about Food Safety ...

Jacob of Mesquite, TX February 19, 2007

My wife and oldest daughter had severe diarrhea, vomiting and stomach cramps and uneasiness for couple of days last week. Though both vomited so many times we did not go to the hospital. My older daughter again had another peanut butter sandwich on last Thursady and since saturday she has been very sick with similar symptoms. This morning she went to school but had to be taken to the doctor from school due to vomiting and fatigue.

Doctor visits, missed class and especially she may not be able to take a very important test on Feb 20th.

Carrie of Longview, TX February 19, 2007

I bought Peter Pan peanut butter back in January of this year. My husband, my mom and my self ate it and we all got sick. Diarrhea and stomach cramps lasted for days.

Sean of South Daytona, FL February 19, 2007

My wife and I don't eat a lot of peanut butter, but we had a jar with the 2111 serial number on it. About a month ago, we both came down with what we thought to be an unusual stomach flu. We were both nauseous with diarrhea plus an overall feeling of malaise for about a week. The overall bad feeling stayed with us for a total of two weeks. We thought we just had some kind of flu, but our symptoms matched salmonella pretty closely. I was watching the news when they announced the serial number so I checked our fridge (which is where we keep the Peanut Butter) and it matched the 2111 at the beginning. Luckily, we didn't get as sick as some of the other people we've heard about.

Debra of Dover, AR February 18, 2007

I bought great value peanut butter at walmart.Code starting in 2111.

I have been so sick.this has been going on for about 2 months.I thought maybe it was stomach flu.I would start to get better ,then it would hit me again. I realized when I heard about peanut butter,it was always after I ate more peanut butter that I got sick again .Also my granddaughter and grandson ate some of it and complained of stomach cramps . My ex-husband also ate some of this and got very sick.I was so sick I couldn't even clean house or cook for my self .

Margaret of North Pole, AK February 18, 2007

We bought a 6-lb can of Peter Pan Creamy Peanut butter from Sam's probably at the beginning of Sept 2006 or late August 2006. During Sept 06 my daughter complained of upset stomach, diarrhea, and some vomiting during that month. We thought it was stomach bug. In December when my husband came home for a long awaited visit, my son, myself and my husband were all sick but I got the sickest. I had vomiting diarrehea and bad stomach pain for the whole Christmas day and for the next week felt very ill.

It happened again a few weeks ago and I finally went to the doctors because i had a lot of pain in my lower back and frontal pain in my rib area, lack of appetite, and I thought something was wrong with my kidneys. 400 later everything came back ok but I have a container of Peter Pan 211161740009200 and now all the illness that we have had make a whole lot more sense. I'm really angered by them telling people to just throw it away and they will refund the cost of the peanut butter. I missed work, I missed spending very special time with my husband, I missed more work with doctor's visits and now I have a medical bill to pay.

Melanie of Tomball, TX February 18, 2007

My 3-year-old son ate a Peter Pan peanut butter sandwich and woke up at about 4:00 a.m. with severe vomiting, diarrhea and fever. I just learned about the peanut butter problem yesterday. I checked both jars in my pantry and sure enough, they had the code 2111.

Mary of Fort Campbell, KY February 18, 2007

I purchased the peanut butter, and fed it to my 2 year old baby over the course of a month. He had diarrehea on and off the entire time. I never knew what the problem was until I saw the recall. I checked the product numbers and found that I had one jar almost empty and another unopened jar of the tainted peanut butter.

Diana of Walnut, CA February 18, 2007

My daughter ate Peanut Butter and became sick with severe vomiting and some diarrhea. After eating it again she had Abdominal cramps, pains and Fever in December. We went into the doctors with a fear of appendicitis. Doctors took Abdominal x-rays and found no problems with Organs or Appendix. We left without knowing what the problem was and a few days later all symptoms disappeared. It was after this we realized the peanut butter had made her sick. She stopped eating it because she had funny feelings regarding the peanut butter and hasn't been sick since she stopped eating it.

Medical Bills for Blood test, Abdominal x-rays and urine test. Days missed from school practices and classes missed because of vomiting. Could not participate in school activities (3 days)

Steven of Tallahassee, FL February 18, 2007

I got extremely ill after consuming tainted peanut butter. I was forced to miss work for two days and was extremely ill for another week. Physically I was a wreck for three days and only after a week was I sort off back to normal.

Robert of Hot Springs, AR February 18, 2007

Diarrhea and stomach cramping for two days after eating the peanut butter. As I have eaten this product for may years, I did not connect it with the illness until the warning was out. In bed sick for two days
