In June 2009, I was contacted by a CSR from Nuvell stating I needed to make a payment. The CSR informed me that I only had 4 more payments left to pay off my loan. I informed her that I was out of work and would try to get payment in as soon as possible. In August 2009, my vehicle was repossessed due to non payment. I called Nuvell Redemption to see what I needed to get my vehicle back as I had just been hired and could get a loan. Nuvell Redemption informed me that I needed the 3 months past due (May, June, and July) plus repossession fee and late fee. It took me 2 2weeks to get the loan. But since then, I had lapsed into another month which meant I owed for 4 months.
I received the loan for all monies due, made the payment, and my vehicle was released back to me. My 4 payments that I had left on my loan was paid. In December 2009, my vehicle was repossessed again. When I called Nuvell Redemption, they stated that I had a balance owed from a "balloon payment" on my vehicle contract. I asked them to send me a copy of my contract and when I received it, there was no balloon payment on my contract. I called the Redemption Center back and all in all I was told I signed a "renewal process" on Sept. 17, 2009 (which I had not).
I asked for a copy of this said renewal process, but was redirected to Collections because Redemption said they did not keep such information. I phoned Collections and they stated they had no record and that the Redemption Department would have that information. I called Redemption back and was informed it was a refinance in Sept. 2009.
After calling back numerous times to get documentation, I was told it was a "maturity adjustment" during the conversion to GMAC, in which I had received a new account number. I requested a copy of my payment history and only received a 1 page statement showing from May 2009 through August 2009 on how my payment went from $575 in May to $6,005.90 in June, July, and August (with no explanation). When I repeatedly asked for documentation, I was told that my balance was from a "compound of interest" of late payments. The CSR rep who was a supervisor stated they should not have told me that it was a "balloon payment, renewal process, maturity agreement"; they had used the "wrong words".
I immediately mailed a certified letter of dispute to the executives of GMAC, but received no response, even though it was signed on Feb. 8, 2010. As of Feb. 23, 2010, my vehicle was sold in auction and I still to this day had not received any documentation on how I still owed for my vehicle that I had been paying on for 7 years. My original contract showed 72 months of financing to have been paid off in Jan. 2009. But as of Sept. 2009, Nuvell showed a balance of $5,428.74 which would be 10 "additional' payments to be a total of 89 months.
