Litton Loan Complaints Continue Following Settlement
Consumer Complaints about Litton

Kathy of Ocala, FL August 17, 2009

Countrywide sold my mortgage to Litton. I applied for a Loan modification in April 2009 and now they have sent me paperwork for a 3 month trial period which has increased my mortgage payment because they escrowed my taxes. My taxes were current because I paid them with the income tax return I receive each year. My hardship was that I could not afford the monthly mortgage payment. Now they have increased it and say they are helping me. This is not a help.

Arthur of Yorktown, VA August 15, 2009

Yes, I was scamed also by Litton Loan Servicing. I applied on line after receiving a letter from them saying I might qualify for a loan modification on my mortgage. They sent me all the documents after tellin me on the phone that I certainly qualify and provided me with a new payment plan for 3 month trial period. If I made my payments on time after 3 months, a new payment would be established.

I made my payments on time and when I called in August to find out what my September payment would be, I was told that I didn't qualify after all. When I ask why they hadn't notified me sooner, they assured me that I was sent a letter. I received nothing. When I ask how much I owed them now, the lady me she couldn't locate the info and just to make my normal mortgage payment in September.

I couple of days latter, I received a letter saying that I now owed 2714.14 and if they didn't receive it by the end of the month, the loan could be accelerated and forcloseure procedings started. I called Litton again and voiced my displeasure at being scammed. The person I talked to did wave 87.54 of the late fees leaving me owing 2626.57. I did not receive a satisfactory explanation of exactly what the 2626.57 was for.

I did a phone payment to bring my account current as I am concerned about what this has done to my credit report. I don't understand how Litton Loan Servicing gets away with this scam especially after reading about all the complaints. Apparently, they want me to default on the loan so they can foreclose. This is not over.

Jim of Arlington, TX August 12, 2009

My loan was sold from Washington Mutual to Litton Loan Servicing without notifying me. I had an ARM loan that went from 1,640.00 a month to 2,480.00 and then higher. Litton kept refusing to speak with me about the loan and Washington Mutual denied having any record of my loan, ( this is after I hand delivered checks to Washington Mutual every month for three years).

Litton filed foreclosure notice, would not speak with me about modification or refinancing. I had to hire a lawyer after hiring a company that was supposed to be a negotiator for situations like this( that is wasted money 2,700.00) Litton's attorneys wouldn't speak with them.

My attorney was able to prevent foreclosure by having me file for bankruptcy which I have always been against. My attorney advised me to not make any payments for 3-4 months. At that time Litton sent me a letter that stated if I made payments for June, July and August of 2009 in the amount of 1,453. they would guarantee that my payments would never go up. They have now filed a notice of default and are suing me for 7,932.04 and my wife in the amount of 42,028.00.

I will be meeting again with my attorney this following Saturday, August 22, '09. This is the crookedest company I have ever been associated with or even heard of. I am in favor of a class action Law Suit against this company. It appears as though they are associated with Long Beach Loan in California and are connected to a large German Bank.

Claudette of Somerset, NJ August 12, 2009

I had a loan modification in December 31, 2008of 2008. Here is now August and Litton Loan has increased my payment by 200 creating financial hardship

Tina of st louis, MO August 11, 2009

I have the same horror story the other consumers have dealing with Litton Loan Servicing. I have been trying to get my loan Modified since January of 2009. I have gone through the same process as the other. ( document being loss, no written response from Litton, each representative tell you something different) receiving default letter every month. I feel frustrated and helpless. I finally received a response from Litton on August 6,2009 regarding my Loan Modification I guess and like many other I to was denied. My Letter really didn't give an explanation, It simply said that at this time you don't not qualify. Thet didn't address loan modication at all. When I called the respresentative She stated the eligilbilty was based on value of home/income and current loan. I asked her to explain this to me and she advised me if I need additional information regarding my denial send a letter to the research department.

So with a little attitude she gladly gave me my options...to sell my house or a repayment plan that I really can't afford... My new payment has gone up an additional 240.00 per for 17 months.

How ridicule is this....If your are having difficulty makeing the lower payment how can you afford the higher payments. What are we as consumer to do? This company has taken people homes, ruin their credit and any hope of refinance out of this mess. Lord Help Us.

To many of the same complian for this to be isolated incident. This company need to be reprimanded.

Kathryn of St. Petersburg, FL August 11, 2009

After being informed of the government’s assistance to homeowners like me, I educated myself on what I needed to do to apply for the loan modification. I researched online and gathered all the necessary paperwork my mortgage holder (Litton Loan) would need. I believe the start date was March 4th. I contacted them on that specific date, first thing in the morning. They told me to go to the website and read their information. I contacted them immediately and told them that I had everything to send in. They said that the government hasn’t completed all the details and they weren’t ready to start accepting applications. So, I waited.

I called them every day, never speaking to the same person twice, or a person who was educated and informed and who could answer my questions. Every person I spoke to was uniformed and when I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that was not possible. Finally, sometime in April, I was told I could apply. I was immediately prepared and sent in my paperwork.

I gave Litton Loan everything they requested, and then some, which was a lot of papers. I was told in April that it would take three months. Due to the fact that this was an extremely important situation, I called repeatedly to inquire about the progress. Each time, a different person, I was never told the same thing twice and that it is going to take a long time. Finally, in late May, I received documents from them about a trial period that would take 3 months (June, July, August). They adjusted my monthly payments by only 100.00.

I asked why my payments only went down 100.00 and that everything I read on the government’s website was that my monthly payments should be no more than 31% of my monthly income. If the government’s formulations indicate my new monthly payment should be 500.00 less than what I am paying now, then why aren’t they showing that as well? So I asked them…..not one person could answer my question. Again, I asked to speak to a person who could answer my questions I was never given that opportunity.

Today August 10th, I received a letter in the mail indicating that they received my application for modification and that I needed to send them a bunch of paperwork. I already did this 4 months ago. I called and asked why this is happening, as if they had never spoken to me. I couldn’t get a straight answer. I asked the representative to check my account to see the status and she told me that there was no new information and to just continue to wait. How much longer am I supposed to wait for help from these people?

Linda of Mt. Vernon, NY August 10, 2009

My problem is with Litton Loan Servicing. In November 2008, I wrote to Litton Loan to request help with my mortgage. I didn't know what type of help was available but I was told I had to send an email to the Loss Mitigation Department. I did so and faxed in over within a few days. I was told it would take 90 days to hear back from them but I periodically called in for the status.

I called in January 09 and was told that my application had been denied because I didn't follow up with their requests. I told that I had received nothing requesting anything from them and with all my numbers and email also message post on their website, why hadn't I heard from them. No one had answers, all I could speak to was a noninformed representative who said that there were no other person who I could speak with.

I immediately wanted to fill out forms on Litton Loans website to apply for the Loan Modification under the governments process. I was told I had to wait until April because the government still had not worked out the partculars.

In April, the date I was given to apply, I applied. I gave Litton Loan everything they request, everything!, which was a lot of papers including the first three page Loss Mitigation papers I put through in November. I was told in April that it would take three months. Due to the nature of people, I called a bit more just to make sure I was given the same information by more than one person. Each of my payments have been late due to loss of income in my home since March 09. Therefore when I made a payment, I'd inquire about the status.

July 2,09 a letter came to my home asking for more of the same information, this time I faxed 13 sheets(first website application was 24)sheets. I faxed it on July 16 (still have the fax sheet confirmation )because their fax machine remained busy for at least two days.

Today August 10th, I called to inquire about the status. I was told my application had been denied. In shock and anger, I asked why. She said you didn't send the paper work in. I told her I faxed it on July 16th. She put me on hold and when she came back, she told me that I was denied because I didn't send the paperwork in on time. Then she asked angrily "why don't you send your paper work in on time" I told her I did and that it finally went through on the 16th of July.

I asked to speak with a supervisor, I told her this was the second time this had been done to me and why don't Litton Loan contact you when they need it is so important. People or we in this case has been waiting close to a year for help from them. She then told me that there were no supervisors to speak with. She repeated that it is just the default department with no supervisors. I insisted on speaking with someone in charge then she put me through to someone's voicemail.

I couldn't recognize the name of the person but I left a message on his voicemail who said he is the supervisor in the default department. I asked why hadn't they contacted me,she said a letter of denial just went out on July 7th. Litton Loan is playing games with their clients. Their staff is not knowledgable and they lie. I think that the government should keep a closer eye on Litton Loan. I'm on pins and needles waiting and wondering and watching hopefully for some sort of help.

Kathleen of New Braunfels, TX August 10, 2009

I, too, have the same complaint as the other consumers. Our loan was sold to Litton Loans and then the problems started. In 2008 I had cancer and could not work so got behind 2 payments. Well, the first time we applied for a loan modification, they said we diddn't make enough money.

Well, I went to work and the second time we applied for a loan modification, it took forever and in the interim, we are getting threatening letters and phone calls. The second loan modification app I was working so made enough money.

I am sick and tired of dealing with these liars, so we put our home on the market and have sold it for more than we owe on it; but Litton Loans is dragging their feet on approving the sale. They have had the paperwork for almost 45 days and no response. By their failing to work with us, we have had to sell our home and now are renting. If they go beyond August 20th, which is our deadline to foreclosure, I will sue them.

Dan of chester, NY August 9, 2009

I have been in the loan mod process since 11/08. I had two mortgages out. They fixed one loan and deducted around 20,000 off the principal.I have been in limbo with the first mortgage.I just need them to fix the loan from an interest only to a fixed loan.I keep getting the run around also from the loss mitigator. We have missed around three payments and our credit has dropped a little,I am going to look into trying to refinance,At this point I AM not sure if that is possible. This company needs to be addressed with the way they operate!!!

Lisa of wyoming, MI August 9, 2009

i too was told they were working on a mod when the rate adjusted and could not afford the payment had lost a jod but they stopped 2 sheriff sales.I was then told they transferred the loan to a new company and they would be handeling the mod much to my surprise this new company does not do that they said to pay the payment refinance or do a short sale well i am doing none of this i will continue to contact everybody i can that will listen. litton loan reps dont even know what going on in their other offices nor do they seem to know what paperwork they sent out.
