GE Money Bank

Vicky of York, PA August 12, 2009

I had my GE money bank card through Lowe's and I did not use it often and when there was a balance I paid it off as quickly as possible. I also received a letter canceling my card today for the following reasons; Delinquency last billing period on this account, highest consecutive months account 2 or more billing periods past due in 18 months, maximum consective months there was a balance increase over the most recent 6 months for this account, percentage of times payment greater than amount due over last 12 months on this account.

Basically I hadn't used my card for awhile and then purchased 200 on the card I was late but immediately paid the balance off as soon as I was aware of it. I guess when you had a balance of 0 200 would look like a large increase in spending? When I called to discuss it they told me to check with the credit bureau I had something bad on my credit report, when I asked which one because there was non listed on the letter they said all of them. If you read the back of the letter it says if no bureau is listed then a bureau report wasn't used. They just want people that they can suck dry with the high interest rates. Say NO to bailouts these businesses should be closed.

I financed new windows for my house through GE Money Bank last year. When I signed the contracts with the window company, I agreed to the intrest rate of 7.24% for the term of the loan. This month, for no reason, my interest rate changed to 12.99%, basically doubling the interest I was paying each month, and therefore adding to the length of the loan. I contacted customer service and spoke with 2 employees, one of which was a supervisor. They would only tell me that the "terms and conditions" had changed on my account, which increased the interest rate.

They had absolutely NO explination for why the "terms and conditions" changed other than they just did, and they can do that at any time, to any customer. I have excellent credit and have NEVER been late on a payment to them... EVER! They refused to give me any more information on why they changed, other than to say that I "should have" gotten a letter in the mail.

What was interesting is that the monthly payment did not change at all! It was only the interest rate, which made the money going to principal much less. What a scam!!! Just another reason to check your statements every month. They count on us NOT checking them!

My husband and I decided immediately that we would just pay off the loan right away, and that GE Money Bank would never again get one penny from us. I would strongly caution anyone who is thinking about using this company. I am furious and will never even consider doing business with them again. I will also tell everyone I know! Please check your statements each month for changes...

After opening my account to have dental work done I only received on statement stating my payment was do. So mail payment an all was good thinking I was going to receive a statement each month after boy was I wrong. about 3 mts later I received a phone call stating that my payment was do an that I owe late fees also. so I told them that I never received a statement in those 3 months to mail a payment a they said there records show that statements were mail and there must be a problem with my post office.

I ask them to send me a statement so I could make the payment but i wasn't paying the late fees for a issue that was my fault. They mail statement and again I never received a statement after this so call an request statement after a phone call from gemb. which included late fees also.

I have been making payments each month. without a statement an know am receiving a Letter from a collection agency with a balance HIGHER than my credit limit to start with. So this company needs to be investigated because they are really messing with people credit and robing them BLIND

I charged 174 on my PayPal card. Paid the card two weeks later. Statement from GE Money Bank had a 39 late pay fee. I called and told them I would not pay the erronous late charge since my payment was long before the closing date. Then I put several new card charges on the account and made payments over a few months without hearing from them. Suddenly I received a bill for appx 600 consisting of my 279 card charges with the rest being late payment and over limit charges.

They called me and said they would setup a payment plan and that if I made the payment plan payments in advance via permission for them to take the payment out of my bank, I would not get any late fees or overlimit charges on the account. I called the 800 number when the next bill came with almost 90 charged as late and overlimit fees and spoke to a person who couldn't speak English. I had no idea what she was saying. I hung up and called back with a similar result. Finally I got someone I could understand and he said that the fees would be credited, that they made a mistake and not to worry about new fees being charged. The next month I discovered the old fees hadn't been credited and I had the same amount in new fees.

I am 72 on Social Security and Medicare. If I pay them to maintain my credit score I will not have enough left for medications and rent. The choice is easy. I will not pay anymore money to GE Money Bank and the heck with my credit. Let 'em sue me!

MADELEINE of PLEASANTON, CA August 8, 2009

On July 21, 2009, I attempted to pay my G.E Money Bank account in full for the amount owed for the promotional 12 month rate. When I made the SELECT COMFORT purchase, I was told that I had 12 months to pay the account- AUGUST 2008 – JULY 2009. I received my bed in August 2009, and did not receive a first billing statement until August 6, 2008.

Today, July 21, 2009, I attempted to pay the final balance of 1,360.59. I called three times and spoke to customer service representatives in India who apologized for my inconvenience, but insisted that I owed an additional 643.02 finance change this month of July. My final closing payment for 1,360.59 was refused by your customer service representatives, even though it is still within the agreed promotional month of July 2009.

At this time, I want to make my final payment in full, but I am unsure the payment will be accepted as the final payment and NO additional finance charges will be included if I pay the entire promotional balance. I have not been able to talk with any of your representatives who understand my concern or that can make any decision regarding the account. I have no other choice than to return the bed if I cannot make a final closing payment in July 2009 to close the account.

I received this letter in the mail today: Based on our most recent review of your credit information,Room to go/gemb account has been closed. Ge Money Bank periodically reviews accounts based on its wxisting credit polocies and standards and information provided by credt reporting agencies as permitted by the Fair Credit orting Act. This decision is final, and will appear as, credit line closed-Ckosed by credit Grantor, on your credit report. The reasons are based on your entire credit history nd not solely your history with Ge Money Bank.

PRINCIPAL REASONS FOR MAKING THIS DECISION: PRESENT OR PAST DELNQUENCY ON TRADES. AGE OF OLDEST BANKCARD TRADE. AVERAGE CREDIT UTILIZATION ON REVOLVING/OPEN-ENDED TRADES

No Interest/no payments until 11/2009. No minimum monthly payment wilolo be due and No finance charges will accrue on the purchase until 11/2009. I bought my furnish from Room To Go on 05/09/08 and paid my last payment Febuary 09. This is second account that was closed on me by this Bank. My other account was paid off early.

Bowie of Asheville, NC August 7, 2009

I authorized a payment for 1,129.00 on May 26th of 2009 via the GE Online Service website. I have come to learn that my actions of "Auto Pay" did not initiate an instant automatic payment, but change the settings on the “monthy” automatic payment. The option for single payments was then removed from my account summary navigation options. My authorization of payment was made 22 days before the end of the promotional period on June 17th of 2009. An automatic payment was processed on June 10th but was not the 1,129 I had setup on May 26th. The payment was not posted until after the promotion end date. The online payment system is not intuitive nor conventional, and can easily show how it's design is misleading be it intentionally or unintentionally.

I was promised that any fees and finance charges associated with my GE Money account would be waived if I made a payment of 1,129.00 immediately by phone. The payment had been made. GE Money did not honor it's end of the agreement. The fees have not been waived and no record of that promise has been kept by GE Money.

In summary: * I was promised the account be settled in exchange for 1,129. This did not happen. * The online payment system is misleading giving GE Money a maximum of nearly 2 months before payment is processed while the option to make one time payments was removed from my online account summary navigation options.

I got behind in payment and they raised my interest rate 26.99%. I ask for a hardship and they agreed but I had to be up to date on account. Now I call they say I need to be behind 90+ days. There was a purchase showing on my statement. I ask what it was. They said it must be late fees + interest. I ask why it shows up all time. They said you needed to call and tell us to pay that from your payment. How was I suppose to know that?

I said I need help and they said sorry you can not pay for the 90 days then ask but no guarantee you will get a hradship. How many complaints have to be submitted to get action against this. Our economy is not that good to allow these people to continue this. These people even get money from the Gov! That is not fair! Not Fair at all. So what can I do from here? I have this loan on 2 ATV. I was told I make to much to file bankrupt. I and or we need avenues to STOP this Co from taking our money at will

Renae of Denver, CO August 5, 2009
