GE Money Bank

Rose of Media, PA August 25, 2009

Purchased eyeglasses from lencrafters in Oct./2008. Was paying with a credit card when they offered me Ge free financing. I accepted. They had trouble getting through to GE. After I waited an hour I told Lenscrafter just put the glasses on my own credit card (discover) and call me when they're ready. They called an hour later I picked up my glasses, don't recall signing for anything. 8 Months Later I get a call from GE that I'm delinquent on my account. I didn't know I had an account and I had never rec'd a statement or a card from them in 8 months!

Then they asked if I was living at 5 stephen drive. No, I had moved from that address 6 years earlier, my drivers license and every bit of i.d. I have has my correct and present address and has had the correct info for 6 years! I can only assume that they didn't properly clear me through one of the 3 credit reporting agencies, and just used an old address. I asked them to send me proof that I signed for these, and a letter stating that they didn't properly clear my credit report and were billing an incorrect address for 8 months. I wanted proof that they made a mistake. They agreed, but did not send that letter.

When I called about it they said they don't send letters of that nature. Also when I asked them if they got my statements returned from the post offed. they said yes. I asked them why they didnt call the phone number they were calling me on now, when they got that first returned statement. They had no answer. (My phone number has been the same for 24 years) They called me on a daily basis for 2 months, before business hours, waking my family up. Mostly they called on Weekends, including sundays, when their customer service was closed and I couldn't get a hold of anyone. They also recorded all of our conversations without notifying me at the beginning of the conversation. Which I'm glad about as I'd like those conversations heard.

Finally 2 weeks ago I had enough and went to lenscrafters, they wouldn't help me. they wanted me to give them my soc. sec. # and they'd get back to me later. 2 weeks now, I never heard from them. I asked lenscrafter for their corporate phone number and they said they didn't have one. Also, the manager on duty told me that GE money does this kind of "mistake" billing on many customers in order to collect the interest on the "free" promotion. That's dispicalbe and....I questioned why Lenscrafters would do business with a crooked, unethical company like that and she didn't have an answer. Lens crafters blames GE, Ge blames Lenscrafters, I'm the only one who did nothing wrong here and I'm being tortured.

In July of 2008 I took out a 0% interest loan for 12 mos. with GE Money Bank for new windows (suggested by Andersen Windows). I paid more than the monthly amount due, then had a remaining balance for approx. half the loan amount still due. I did a transfer balance with AAA/Bank of America to pay off the balance remaining, this was mailed out to GE on July 14, 2009. GE says they never received the payment, BA faxed them the transfer date & information. GE is trying to bill me for this amount & several other charges.

I signed up for a Discount Tire card and was to receive 90 days no interest on the card... DON'T BELIEVE IT! I wanted to pay off the bill early and they quoted me the amount I owed INCLUDING the interes... I called to complain and they said it was a common practice with companies like GE to conduct business like this. They are crooks and scumbags... And to make matters worse, they outsource their customer service to INDIA! GE MONEY BANK SUCKS!

Maryann of Peebles, OH August 21, 2009

Have had a CareCredit account since I broke my wrist in January 2008. Because I had no health insurance I applied for it to pay doctor bills. Original balance 2000. Kept up payments until I lost my job in July 2008. They put me on a hardship program and I made every payment on time. Just went off the hardship program and made a payment 08/14/2009 (my due date) with Western Union Quick collect at 1:38 p.m. Western Union sent this immediately to the company at that same time which they can verify.

GE Money Bank did not collect the payment until 06:01 p.m. EST making my payment 1 hour and 1 minute late. They then didn't post it to my account until 08/17/2009. This made me incur a late fee of 39.99. With the next billing cycle the finance charges will put my account over the limit and they will charge me another 39.99. They delibrately collected the payment late so as to charge extra fees.

I spoke with a supervisor who was very rude and they refused to refund the late fee. They kept stating they didn't receive the payment until 08/17/2009. They will not accept proof from Western Union. I supposed because of this, they'll raise my interest rate which is another reason for them to delibrately post a payment late.

I have a fixed loan that I took out almost 3 years ago. I agreed to accept online statements (which I still have never received so much as one). My payments for 2.5 years were 162. and change. I have set into my ebillpay for 163.00 8 days before the payment is due each month. July 31 I received a call form their collections dept. telling me that I have accumulated 1000 in late fees and need to settle immediately.

Some time in January they raised my min due to 175 and never told me about the increase. They offered to take the balance in full (with a 200 dollar savings to me!) They would take the 3882 out on the 14 of August.

Well now its the 19 of August and they have not taken the money out. I have called the 800 number everyday since monday, and they keep telling me they will take it out soon,

What game are they playing? They want the money so bad why are they not taking it? Are they trying to wait untill next month to charge me more late fees my payment should have been due on the 15 of August. This company is a scam, is this legal what they are doing?

Kenneth of Beecher, IL August 18, 2009

I purchased tires at Discount Tires and took out that GE card. I had 6 months to pay it off interest free but I paid it off in 5 months just to be sure they didn't play any games. Also I paid online where I got confirmation numbers of payments. I found out later reading in the Chicago Tribune, business's that push these cards such as GE Credit actually are the ones that cause the havoc with your credit score. Because they give cards to anyone. They are considered a high risk card and there goes your credit score down, down, down. Then they turn around and tack on all kinds of fee's

Lisa of Louisville, KY August 17, 2009

We applied for a loan for a room addition and went through GE Money to do so. The original interest was to be at 9% with our credit, this was promised when completing the application by American Home Design. Our rates on the loan jumped to 15.9%. I've made extra and early payments in efforts to bring down the balance and have a fair attempt at paying off their loan. Most recently, our rates jumped to over 20% for no reason. There were never any late payments and always a payment in between to cut down the principal.

After paying several months on time/early and always extra, they continue to raise our rates. Customer service is no help, long hold times and then supervisors who do not help or better yet are trained to just not care. There is almost no way I can pay this loan off now, with close to 400 a month going directly to interest fees into their pocket.

This is ridiculous and uncalled for, especially when there is never a default and extra payments were submitted every month. I feel like we are drowning and do not want to go into bankrupt, but GE Money seems determined to break their customer base even further in these tough times. I'm considering Better Business Bureau, Wave3 Troubleshooters, anything to get this into the light. I'm sick to my stomach on what these creditors can and continue to do on a daily basis.

SUSAN of WARREN, MI August 16, 2009

I have been harrassed by this company for money I absolutely positively do not owe them. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau. I have also sent the company a cease and desist letter quoting the laws of the FTC. On Friday, 8/14 and on Saturday 8/15 they called again.

Donald of Battle Creek, MI August 15, 2009

Due to the murder of my daughter in PA and being subponeaed for court proceedings numerous times, my accounts got behind. Even though payment arrangements were made, and those that have passed were honored on my part, the calls keep coming, sometimes less than 1 min. from the last one on the same account. I know I owe the money, but the Indian customer service (?) reps not only either do not or choose not to understand english, but are extremely pushy and almost to the point of being coersive. They don't want payments via the internet, buit want to do a check by phone which of course they charge a fee for.

I am to the point where I consider the continual phone calls AFTER payment arrangements are made to be harassment. They don't listen and I get comments when I explain the late payments like "everyone has that problem". I have worked long and hard to attempt to maintain good credit and pay my bills on time but the current circumstances have hampered me in this effort.

Anna of Maspeth, NY August 13, 2009
