These people were calling me all the time threatening to have me arrested for a supposed debt. In accordance with Fair Debt Collection Act, they are prohibited from posing as law enforcement and are required to send you a verification letter. They are just trying to scare you into paying them for a debt that they can't even verify. I filed a complaint with the FTC and the Better Business Bureau stating these facts. Within days, this company responded to my complaint with the BBB that they would not contact me again and I was removed from their system. They clearly were breaking the law and they knew it. Dorsey Thornton and Associates called my work last week. I explained to them on the phone that I was not allowed to take collection calls at work. I plan on calling them, but I work two jobs, and forgot to call them back. They called again today. I again told them I not allowed to get these type of calls at work, then hung up on them. Agent ** then called my HR department, and asked the HR manager to send me an email to call them. This could get me fired.
If I do owe them money, I have not gotten any letter in the mail, as to what company they are representing. I don't want to make any arrangements to pay them, until I have something in writing.
They have been leaving me messages saying that I will be prosecuted by the court. They are accusing me of fraud and calling me a criminal. I have not received any letter from them or any other place saying that I owe them money. I appreciate your help to stop this company from calling my home.
I continue to receive threatening phone calls from this collection company. This has been going on for approximately three months now continually. Each time a different person identifies themselves as an agent of the US government. I have asked them to stop calling my home, my cell phone and my place of business. I have written letter asking them to cease and desist with the harassing phone calls. I have informed them of the filing of my BK case and nothing seems to work. I am totally fed up with this and something needs to be done.
When I try to get information from them in relation to where they are located or an address, they put me on hold and never come back to the phone. The last phone call came just 5 minutes ago after I faxed over a letter with the proof of my BK and asked them to not contact me anymore via phone. Any correspondence should be in writing. They apparently ignored that letter also. It is affecting my job performance. Every time I answer the phone at work I am being harassed and threatened with them filing fraud charges.
