I paid Discount Mortgage Relief $1300 to start the process of getting a loan modification with HSBC/Beneficial Finance. But after I did more research on DMR the less I trusted them to do what they said they would be able to do. So, I contacted them telling them I no longer wanted to use their services. They assured me they would be able to help me. At the point I wanted a refund, I got the run around then after several calls they kept putting me on hold.

I contacted DMR about an infomercial I saw on TV because I was falling behind on my mortgage payments. After filling out all the paper, I faxed the paper work to ** account for $800.00 and then a week or so later, per my conversation over the phone, I agreed on another debit of my account for $500.00 (total of $1,300.00).
After a few conversations with customer service (the person that had been assigned to my account and I expressed my concern about how my account was being handled), I contacted my mortgage company (HSBC/Beneficial) to ask them if they had received any correspondence from DMR, and HSBC/Beneficial says no, but DMR contended they had sent my mortgage company a letter of consent which was not true to my knowledge. I told DMR that I wanted a refund, and they said they would send a request for refund of my money to their customer service department. I tried contacting them to see what the status was on my refund, but they only sent it other departments with no clear understanding as to what was being done about my refund. After weeks of waiting to hear from them, I called DMR but never got to talk to a live person!

I filed and won a judgement against this company but they failed to pay me by the deadline that the judge set. So the judge tripled my judgement. Now I'm trying to collect on it, but can't. No one will answer my calls to this company.

I am $20,000 behind in my mortgage. I could very well lose my house because of their advise and the money they took from me.

I contracted DMR (Discount Mortgage Relief) back in 2009 to help with a mortgage modification. I had recently been divorced and was stuck with a house under water in Florida. They wasted no time in pre-approving me and even less time in taking $2400 with promises that they could help me and reduce my mortgage payments considerably. Months passed before it became evident from my bank that they were not willing to entertain a mortgage modification. For months afterward and calling several times a week for hours on the phone going through recycling, it became clear that they were a scam and had no intention of refunding me the money that was clearly in my contract. In addition to DMR, I give the fault to CNN for allowing such companies to advertise openly on their station. One would assume that CNN is a relatively reputable company who would check their sponsors.
Obviously, this was not the case and I can only imagine how many homeowners who knew and trusted CNN were 'taken' by DMR. The fact that these companies are able to rise up on the heels of a government declaration of helping homeowners as was done by Obama previously and get away with the false advertising and fraudulent activities suggests that this great country has gone from what one would consider free and healthy enterprise to free and unhealthy fraud. With unemployment at 12%, citizens feel quite able to include 'fraud' into their definition of capitalism at its best. It makes me nauseous. The only comfort at this point is karma. I don't expect to have to deal with the likes of DMR owners in the ever after. I lost $2400, hours and hours of my time, and money in phone calls chasing down these clowns. In the end, I was no better off.

I contacted Mortgage Relief in Feb 2010. They said they could get my payments cut in half by lowering my interest rate. After I paid them over $1000 on March 17, 2010, I could no longer get in contact with them. I would be transferred from one person to another and then sent back to the beginning if not hung up on. They advised me to stop making my payments because they were in negotiations with my bank.
On July 27th 2010, I received a foreclosure notice from my bank. They had not even contacted them. My bank is not willing to work with me so I am going to lose my home. Thanks to this company! I contacted HUD and found out I don't even qualify for a modification. I can not get a hold of Mortgage Relief because their phone number is no longer in service. I contacted the Attorney General's office of AZ. They told me the state of AZ has filed a lawsuit against them for fraud. They closed down the end of July and on Aug. 11, 2010, they tried to get money from my checking account. Do not trust this company! I lost my home and now my credit is ruined. It will be years before I will be able to clean this mess up. I think the Government should help those of us that has gone through this, at least give us another chance to buy a home. They seem to help the banks out.

This company took payments mounting to more than $700.00 for a mortgage modification procedure. I did not however pay them the last payment which would have totaled more than $950.00. There was an option in the contract stating that I could, at any time, cancel the procedure. They would not start the procedure until they were given the last payment. All they have done is produce a folder with my information in it. I have written them a cancellation letter, which was requested of me. When I called on July 7, 2010, I was told that I had broken the contract, and therefore, would not be given my refund. It looks like I paid them more than $700.00 for nothing. Where do I stand in this situation?

I paid them $2195.00 to get my mortgage modified. They did not pay my mortgage as they recommended. I did this in Nov. 2009. It is now June 17, 2010 and even after I asked for a refund on their non-performance clause, I have not gotten my money back.

We signed with them in December 09. Our fee for a remod was $1695.00, which were broken up into 3 payments. We could never get a hold to them. Their phone lines put you on music hold for hours and then hang up on you. We were in our 5th month in April when we cancelled for non-production. Our mortgage company always told us they never spoke to DMR or received any papers from them. I guess when they tried hitting my bank account for an unauthorized $547.50 which I didn't have in there. Thankfully, I knew they were a rip-off. I had paid them in full months ago.
I recently turned them into the Arizona BBB and had gotten a reply from DMR by Helen ** saying I still owed them $547.50. I replied I had bank statements for proof; then her next reply through the BBC was I breached the contract by deciding abruptly to cancel. Nothing was abrupt with anything. We waited and waited. We are now in foreclosure with our mortgage company. We were told by DMR we would get a case number and it would stop foreclosure and they would handle it all. What a joke and so was our supposed case worker Miguel. Having a family of 6 to take care of--when you lose $1695.00 it's devastating when you really could have put it on your real mortgage.
Foreclosure. Looking at my family not knowing if we get to keep the home. We are trying to re-modify through our own mortgage company but not sure if they will. I need my money back to help save it.
