I bought my house 11/07. My payments were 1225. a month. Loan officer stated that in 1 year my payments may go up to 1400. due to improved tax value. My payment escalated to 1806. That is a 600.00 difference. When I complained, they dropped the payment to 1717. Still too much for my budget. Will have to let it go back. Is there any recourse? I'm losing my investment due to their miscalculations intentional or not.

Chery of Beaumont, CA June 19, 2009

I found my dream home and Countrywide is the lender in this track. I filled out the documents and was told I would not qualify because I didnt make enough money, so Gigi told me how she could pad my income. First she told me to write two letters stating that my current property was going to be leased and that my parents property was to be leased as well and they would be living with me. She told me word for word what to write. She assured me that people do this all the time and it is ok.

Then she stated on my loan docs that my boyfriend was going to pay me 1000 a month for rent so that is also income. Then she input a higher amount of child support then I receive, even though she had the court ordered documents in my file. She also stated that I could refinance within the year and lower my rate since they were dropping. I know that the market was coming down but I purchased my house at 345k and it appraises at 170k.

I have contacted Countrywide to see if I can get a loan modification because I can not make my payments, I was injured on the job in Sept 08, my income has cut in half. I was told that I could not be helped until I was late Nov 08 was the last monthI could make my mortgage, I informed the lender but still was told that I was not late so they could not help call back in three months.

I called back and was told that they could not help me until I could give them a date that the doctor would release me to go back to work. I am waiting for surgery and told them that and their response was they could not do anything for me to call back. I called them back in May 09 and went through the whole story again and was told that I have to increase my income, to go get a job even though I can not due to my injury. A week later I received a foreclosure notice with sale date of August 31, 2009.

WILLIAM of CORNING, CA June 13, 2009

I have been dealing with CW since July 08. I told them four months in advance that if I did not get the new loan they promised, I would go into default because the loan that I had with them just adjusted and nearly doubled. They told me to wait that the president was going to sign a new bill for a program to help people in my situation. AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER - NO HELP -

After many phone calls to many different "depts" (including the new home retention team), after being denied, then "undenied", re-denied, faxed in info they requested, re-undenied. Each “rep” had a different status, one would say denied because the requested information was not received, then I’d call back and another “rep” said I was re-undenied and than I would receive a package in the mail soon. This went on for several months.

In April 2009 I sent in another letter with all the requested info again, and same run-around. I have NEVER received anything in the mail. The “reps” tell me to continue to wait while a payment has not been made since June of last year. Here is how we got there.

We owned our property for ten years. We went to a lender and said that we would like to build a new home on our property. At that time we had a little 800sq ft cottage and an older mobile home. The lender suggested we take this particular loan (I’m not a pro so I just trusted them). That had a 16k early pay-off penalty, remove the mobile home, remodel the cottage then at the end of the early pay-off period we could get a construction loan to build a house where the mobile was.

I followed it exactly! I paid in full, then when I went to get the new loan to build my house, our country was experiencing one of the biggest housing market crashes in history. So, my property, minus the mobile home did not appraise for the new loan. The NIGHTMARE begins!

My wife and I have been near divorce several times, we are so frustrated because we did everything we were told to do. So much stress, my wife lost her job, and we are barely hanging on… to Anything.

We’re giving up. In good conscience we just cannot go on living in a house where we are not making any payments. We called BofA (formerly CW) and said we just can’t take it anymore and we want to do a DIL. They said we have to put the property on the market for 90 days. We think they are just scamming us again. So we are going to just move out and realize that we will never be able to own a home again in America. Our credit rating went from 750 when we went for the first loan down to the low 500s.

Patricia of Katy, TX June 11, 2009

Back in November of 08 I fell behind four payments. I called Countrywide and explained my situation. They then asked me if I wanted a modification and of course I said yes. They mailed the Agreement Documents to me in December. I read and signed them and fed-exed them back on time. I then mailed them a check for 2052.00 for my jan. feb. payments.

I called in March to make my payment and they told me that I was in pre-forclosure status. I told them that there was no way that I was in forclosure because I was approved for a modification (* promisary note). They told me that my account had not been updated yet. So I then called the hope department( people that handled my modification) they told me that everything was fine that they forwarded the paperwork to them. well I then kept calling every few days to check the status. They kept telling me that the modification was still in process.

Well last week they told me that the funding for my modification did not come through. I was shocked. By now I could have probably paid the balance. So now I am in forclosure and need help. Health problems related to stress. Losing home.

Mary of Renton, WA June 9, 2009

We refinanced with Countrywide to avoid rate/payment increase of an ARM loan. My husband and I were working, and since my credit was not perfect, Countrywide wanted his name on the loan. He was also working quite a bit of overtime at the Monroe Correctional Center. When Countrywide was underwriting, they decided to use his overtime. I thought it strange, since overtime is not guarenteed income. After the loan funded, we were good customers, paying on time, never late. Then in December, 2008, all hell broke loose. I was laid off from my job and my husband's hours were reduced at the correction center. Up until February, 2009, I made my mortgage payments, albeit with late charges. And then it had to stop. It was a choice of not having food to eat, going homeless, or having the hospital garnishee my husband's wges (my daughter had an emergency appendectomy). I tried working on a loan modification with a company, and told Countrywide. I gave up on Countrywide when I had called their customer service, was transferred to India. The gentleman read from a script, used my husband's net income to tell me I did not qualify for a loan modicifation. The outside company I was trying to work with was great. They tried calling for statusevery day, never got anycalls back from Countrywide (I had submitted all my paperwork and they had forwarded it to Countrywide}, sat on hold for almost an hour every time they called.

On March 4, 2009, apackage was Fedexed to my residence-Countrywide's attempt at a loan modification. I immediately called the loan modification company because I had until April 7 to respond. I let the loan modification company attempt to get answers on where their loan modfication request was at, but by the last week in March, I decided to go with Countrywide's offer. My first interest only payment was due May 1, 2009. I sent in my May payment on the 5th. As I carefully checked my checking account balance daily, I noticed that my loan payment was never showing. I called Countrywide, and they said that since it was in modification, it would take longer to process. They finally processed it on May 28th. Received the June statement fromBank of America, notices that my payment was posted "miscellaneous". Immediatly called Countrywide, was told that since my loan modification had not actually been approved, the money would not be applied to antthing on he loan, and oh, yes, they could atill go ahead and foreclose. Later that evening, called customer service to inquire about the status of my loan modification. I was told by Pamels (ext. 9548, they don't have to give out their last names), that my modification was going to be denied because I had never sent in paystubs. I was livid! I told her I wanted to know what happened to all the documentation I had sent in. She said she did not know, but apparenly, it was ne ver receied.

I then asked why when I had called before I was never told of the problem. She could not explain. When I told her I needed more information, she placed me on hold. She then verified that the paperwork had been sent in along with the paystubes on time. She had to place it in an "emergency escalation" to see if they would look at all the documentation. And by the way, it will take about 7 days. I have been working since the last week in March, so I have not had the time to be on the phone every day with Countrywide. But trust me, beginning tomorrow, I will. I will not eat lunch, but will attempt to get down to the bottom of this fiasco.

barbette of LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL June 4, 2009

I have been working with Countrywide/Bank of America on a loan modification since 03/09 because I lost my job. I have sent in all the proper paperwork that they requested. Customer service said that my loan was being worked on and I should have a answer by 04/21/09. Now when I call they tell me that they have no idea of what has happend to my case. If you can help me I would be forever grateful. I am just a hardworking homeowner who is trying to save her home. Thank you

Dewey of New Vienna, OH June 4, 2009

In November 2008 I obtained a home mortgage loan from countrywide home loans. My first payment was due on 1 Jan 2009. Thats when the problem started, and never ended. I am detailing below some of the problems encountered. The following is a word for word copy of my latest request for answers from country legal dept, payment research dept and loan collection dept.

NOTE< I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE AN ANSWER FROM ANYONE. I REFINANCED MY HOME WITH ANOTHER LENDER AT CONSIDERAL COST TO ME, MY CREDIT SCORE WAS DAMAGED, I AM DEEPER IN DEBT NOW THAN WHEN I FIRST OBTAINED A LOAN WITH COUNTRYWIDE (BECAUSE OF THEIR ACCOUNT MANIPULATIONS). To COUNTRYWIDE PAYMENT RESEARCH DEPT: I received a copy of my account history and I have questions I need answers to: QUESTION< Why was the April 2008 payment and the Oct 2008 payments reversed twicw? Question: Why would it take you three to ten months after receipt of a payment to find out there were i9nsufficient funds or for whatever reason you reversed those payments? If there were insufficient funds in my bank account to cover the payments, why were those funds not returned to my bank they originated from? What happend to those funds after my 12 (twelve) payments were reversed, they were not returned to me? I have contacted the VA affairs and advised them of the errpros in my account. They advised me to contact you first before taking legal action. I hope you can find a way to assist me in this matter, countrywide refuses to answer my questions. I believe the twelve payment reversals 948.00 each is a consideral loss. It also cost me 4,000 in closing cost to refinance my home. I also ruined my credit standing, my credit score dropped from 750 to 450 on all three credit reporting bureas solely as the result of the derogatory information furnished by countrywide. derogatory information that was due to countrywid erroneous record keeping.

Beatrice of hampton, NJ June 4, 2009

I tried in multiples phone calls first to countrywide and now bank of America first to refinance as they offered to help after multiples and long phone calls same answer was given to me refinance not an option and loan modification I am not behind yet on my payments.

THE SO CALL OBAMA HELP IS NOT REACHING THE NEEDEE PEOPLE. Iam struggling yet my taxes are behind not my mortgage and nobody can help me. With all these institutions I hit a wall no help at the end. the financial counselor your consumer affair recommended no help at all just a long and tedious phone call. that end up telling me cut your tv and to get a second job. frustration and lost of faith if the OBAMA programs are to help the real people. stress on what to do next or who to turn for help.

josh of oswego, NY June 3, 2009

i decided to buy a house two years ago with a buddy of mine Joe. the house cost 75,000.( monthly it cost 688) me and him decided to go in together to see if we could get the loan. somehow we got the loan even though i was working part time making min wage but countrywide lied on the application stating that i made 1000 a month when i only made 750 along with joe.

long story short joe moved out a year ago refuses to pay for half the mortgage. i have made all the payments for the last year now. been upkeeping the house everything and joe is without a hitch\. i went to countrywide about this they dont care and they told me all they care about is making their money. i went to them to see if i could get the payments reduced to 550 a month but they refused to do it i asked them about refinancing the loan with just me well i dont make enough. so i tried with my dad they wouldnt do it either so i had to move out due to a legal agreement with joe the agreement was that i moved out he would go in a fix up and pay the mortgage. well he didnt

now i have countryide calling me sending me letters calling my parents about it, they wont contact joe or even try to they are making it my problem only i have called them 30+ times i called their home retention department i get the same guy everytime that i cant understand and seems to always hang up on me in the middle of talking then i call back and theres no-one in the office i put the house up on the market about 90 days ago and i wanted to give the house back to them ( a deed in lieu of foreclosure ) they told me they need a offer on the house first but when i told them no-one will buy it. then i asked about the loan insurance they have no clue what im talking about and tell me to call fha.

my complaint it just this that they knowingly wrote a loan ( lied on the loan ) to two young kids that they knew they could screw over in the long run they wrote a loan for a 21-22 year old that both worked part time at win wage now does that make sense? all i want is for them to take the house back and not owe anything on it seeing how im in alot of debt with medical bills and other bills i know i shouldn't of got a house with a friend but in all reality countrywide shouldn't of gave us the loan I WOULD LOVE FOR SOMEONE TO CONTACT ME TO DISCUSS THIS FURTHER i just wish it would all go away so i can go on with my life joe moved away and no-one can contact him but i coudlnt move away cause of my job so now im stuck with all this ~ right now the mortgage is 4 months behind and going to go into foreclosure cause countrywide doesn't care

james of north edwards, CA June 2, 2009
