Chevy Chase Bank

Alan of Rozet WY (03/08/07)
I was contacted in December saying I was late on my account. My wife had always paid this bill on time, but we didn't receive a bill for December. My wife's credit card was stolen, which we reported, and we had internet charges of more than 10,000.00 which we didn't do. Our information was changed to stop receiving paper statements and start receiving internet statements. We never authorized this. Chase did credit back unauthorized charges, but are now charging us late fee's and enormous monthly payments and interest. We have sent 2000.00 since February 15, 2007 and just received a bill yesterday, which said it was due on March 25,2007, minimum payment due is 1309.00. Kim from Chase said this was due Today and we had to send another 309.00 today 3/8/2007.  We were told that no late fee's or charges or penalties while this was being disputed, but I am being charged all of these fee's. Finance charges and late fee's at a rate of 29.99 percent at a charge of 350.39 for one month. My credit score has went from 760 to 580 in one month. I have always paid my bills on time and in full before the due date. I have left numerous messages for Trista DeBella's with Fraud department to return my calls, and she never does. I would appreciate help with this matter so I can get my credit cleared up before anymore damage is done.

I own my own business, and this is making it impossible to purchase necessary equipment to run it, due to credit problems. It has put undue stress on myself, my wife, and my family.

On May 31, 2006 we deposited 160 Euros into our Chevy Chase account. We were told it would take 2-3 weeks for the conversion into US dollars. On the fourth week we called Chevy Chase and were told it would take 6 - 8 weeks. On the Monday of the 8th week we called the bank and were told they have until the end of the 8th week to complete the transaction. Now we are in the 10th week and still do not have our money. Chevy Chase has not returned our recent phone calls. We realize this is not a great sum of money (200+) but one has to wonder why it takes so long to convert a common currency and if the bank has a right to withold our money for such a long time.

I've recently mortgaged my home through this bank and since day one it's been nothing but problems. My most recent complaint has been the late payment of my real estate taxes. Like most home owners I pay a percentage of my real estate taxes along with my monthly mortgage payment. I recently recieved a disturbing letter stating that my home would be auctioned off unless back taxes were paid.

When I called Chevy Chase to complain I found out that there was more than enough money in my escrow account to cover the back taxes. Ultimately they sent in my payment but it should have never come to this. As a result i've decided to leave them due to the fact that they aren't able to service my account properly. Unfortunately i'm going to have to pay a pre payment penalty to leave but if my initial dealings with them are a sign of what's to come then i'd rather just pay up and go with a more competant banking institution.

I'll be forced to pay an early pre payment penalty in order to severe my dealings with this banking institution.

My wallet was stolen, all my credit cards and ID was stolen. As soon as I found out I went to the nearest Chevy Chase branch and reported the situation. I was given three affidavits to sign. I also filed a report with the Transit authority where the theft took place. When I returned to the bank to see the status of my account, I was told that all funds going into my account are frozen to satisfy the fraudlent charges that are on my account. This process would last for at least ten days.I was also told the account is still coded as open there is nothing on the account to say that there was theft and I am responsible for all charges. They will not put my money back into my account.

The investigator has ten day and if the investigation still is not completed in 10 days I still will not have access to my money. Even though I filed the report on Wednesday about the theft, it did not arrive on the investigators desk until Friday and they dont know when he will get to it. I can understand and believe that there should be an investigation, but the bank is insured for my deposits and could release my money while the investigati is going on. I filed a police report on my own. The bank did not ask me too.

I have no money. They are treating me as if I am the one that committed the crime. I thought my money was insured.

I have had a Chevy Chase Visa card for some 15 years. It was a no annual fee card. At some point they have decided to make a 40.00 annual fee card. I did not read their mail or fine prints. Now that I became aware of it, I called to cancell and not renew my card. They immediately canceled it. I called and told them that I have paid the fee for one year why should they cancel it immediately. I asked if they will refund the fee they had charged me. The only answer I got was, Well, you called to cancel. They sound like broken record repeating the same ting again and again with total disregard for my concern. I will never do business with Chevy Chase again. Other banks are begging for my business.

I had to pay some bills the same day. Now I will be late and have to pay late fees and the negative effects it will have on my credit. I also lost money that I had paid to Chevy Chase for annual fee.
