Chevy Chase Bank

S of Olathe KS (04/07/08)
Took a home equity line of credit from them and when started repaying, they refuse to deposit my checks !!! They send them back claiming the check isn't made payable to them or damaged in transit when their automatic letter opener machine screws up and cuts it in half.

THE FUNNY PART IS, IT IS THE SAME STYLE OF CHECK AND HANDWRITING THAT IS ALWAYS WRITTEN TO THEM AND THEY REJECT ONE OUT OF EVERY THREE CHECKS !

Then, when I call them to ask them why one out of three checks always written the same way are returned, they just exclaim ...well, we didn't notice those others.... They don't like my cursive !!! In this age of non-performing home loans and sharp upturn in delinquencies, these guys are arrogant and stupid enough to return checks on a patternistic basis !

On 01/08/08, two debit card purchases and one check were put in for request by the respective merchants. The two debit purchases were requested earlier in the day than the check. The bank paid the check first, a large amount, and the two debit purchases afterwards, resulting in three overdraft fees. Had the bank paid the requests in the order in which they came, my account would have been over-drafted only once instead of three times. When I called the bank's customer service center to complain, I was told that this was not a bank error. The assistant manager and manager at the bank's local branch also said that it was not a bank error, and refused to refund the overdraft fees. The bank manager insisted that the check was paid first for a good reason, but could not provide any such reason. He also had no response when I pointed out that there was no way for the bank to know that a check request would come that day, and could not answer my question of why the debit requests were not processed at the time they came in.

I told the manager that the order in which the bank processed the three requests was designed to incur as many overdraft fees as possible. He denied that this was the reason, and rudely stated that it was my fault I did not have money in my account. As a result of the bank's fraudulent practices, I incurred a 105 loss instead of the 35 loss I should have incurred had the bank processed the requests in the order in which they were received.

Louis of Centereach, NY June 25, 2007

Louis of Centereach NY (06/25/07)
As a result of a house fire I received an insurance check. Unfortunately, since the insurance agent also had the name of the mortgage company (Wells Fargo) on the check, they said they couldn't sign the check until they got verification that Wells Fargo didn't have a mortgage on my house. That was back in the end of March.

It took me a month for Wells Fargo to send the verification that their mortgage was on a condo which I had sold and that the mortgage was paid off. I sent the check back to Chevy Chase with the letter. I was then told that the Wells Fargo name had to be removed.

It took several weeks for the insurance company to issue a new check with just my name and Chevy Chase Bank. I mailed that check down and am now told they need the insurer's appraisal. I have sent them the contractor's full estimate of repairs. If Chevy Chase needed the insurance appraisal, then why has it taken them over 2 1/2 months to tell me that? To keep the repairs on the house going I have had to use money from my personal property loss check and I took a 10,000 cash advance on a credit card. The contractor has taken out a 60,000 loan to keep the repairs going. The insurance check is for over 108,000 and is needed for expected repairs of over 250,000.

It will soon be three months and I don't know how much more I may have to take out in cash advances to keep the work going.

The fire was back on 3 August 2006 and though most of the damage was water damage, it meant the interior of the house has been gutted and must be bought up to current code. The house was built in 1928 and there are additional insurance checks for code updates and completion of the work but I need the 108,000 check to insure that work continues.

Finally! I found out what is wrong with my 2000 Impala. After countless problems that reoccurred and mechanics who were baffled with the problems I now know that it wasn’t something I did. There is no excuse for what has happened to all the individuals who have the coolant issues. I am graduate student who is supporting my self and how am I suppose to continue to pay for all the repairs on my car and my education.

Within the past 6 months I had to pay about 1,100 to fix my car and now I have SURPRISE a cracked manifold gasket. How is it in those ten months this information did not reach the ears and mouths of mechanics in Florida till recently? I have had coolant problems for the past year and half and had the system flushed twice and the mud continued to return, numerous other repairs, and so yes I am very frustrated with this whole matter. I have been told and I realize that there problem with cars no matter what the company etc. but this is ridiculous this is a huge problem and many many people have been affected by it. I know the following statement doesn’t mean much but I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER GM product. One upside, I am learniong alot about cars now.
