I recently opened 2 accounts at WAMU bank branch in WA State. I had a child support officer wrongly place a hold on my funds in my bank. The decision was immediately reversed after a phone call and letter was sent to release all funds to WAMU and a copy myself. I then checked with bank and for a week nothing was done. I then had to twice take in my copy of the release in order to get my money released. I checked my bank many times for the money to appear back in my account but nothing. After spending over an hour on the phone and customer service giving me numbers to call that were disconnected, I reached the Levy Dept which then went on to inform me that my funds were released but due to the fact it was a new account that was opened with a 100.00, I had no money in my account because Chase charged a 100.00 processing fee to hold my funds!

There was no notification of this and who charges a 100.00 to do nothing but press a button. Why did they not charge the person placing the levy? They then went on to tell me that this would not be returned and in so many words, this is what they do and I am screwed. I am closing 3 accounts, going to the BBB as well as the Attorney General and anyone else that will listen. In my 18 years of dealing with child support, this has happened twice. Once at US Bank and then at Bank of America, who never charged me, just released the funds. I was happy having used WAMU before but Chase is a Corporate Money Monger who will do what they can for your few dollars. I signed up for WAMU service but got the Chase shaft!

I have lost all the funds put into a bank that I just opened and never even got to use! I am on disability and this money hurt! As others in this day and time, all money is hard to come by. This money did not go to my child but to a corporation that makes millions a year from poorer people who give them their trust.

My wife and I have never had any problems with WAMU... Since Chase has taken over WAMU we have had never ending problems with Chase...We both have direct deposit payroll. Everytime payday comes around Chase locks the account so we have no access to our checking account to withdraw money to do foolish things like pay bills and groceries..

Most of the Consequences have been minor.....Bills get paid late...We have managed to have fees waived... But it makes for a stressful 3 to 4 days trying to access MY MONEY that Chase is already making money on.....

I consolidated several bills with the card years ago. Theinterest rate was set at 4.99 percent which was suppose to stay the same until the balance was paid off and that I would pay 2 percent of the balance (minimum payment) til paid off. and with no service or finance charge. Now they have raised the 2 percent balance payment to 5 percent and are now charging me a 10 per month service charge/finance charge. I called Chase and they said if I would let them raise the interest rate to 7.99 percent on the balance that they would cancel the finance charge and would lower the minimum payment to 2 percent of the balance. I don't know what to do! Is this a legal thing that they are doing to me and what recourse do I have?

Financially I cannot afford to pay the new minimum payment which is 5 percent of the balance due...they have more than doubled what was originally accepted by me.
