Ann of Dallas NC (12/03/08)
I have had a credit card with BOA for several years. I paid my payment on time, every month. Then, when my balance reached a certain amount, the interest rate jumped. I called to talk with someone about the rate and in a very rude way, simply told me they could do nothing to help me. I am a single woman working in retail sales on a very limited income. After the call I received a letter stating that my account had been closed and my payments were going to double.

I simply cannot pay this - so now I can only assume that my perfect credit rating will be ruined.

though I have never been late on a payment in over 2 years (since I opened the card) and have been paying down my balance, I am 6 - 7 thousand below my max, B of A ran my interest up to twice the agreed rate and canceled my card. Attempts to get them to reverse this decision were met with hostility and belligerence. They act as if they are doing me a favor for allowing me to give them thousands of dollars in interest!

My credit rating has been lowered. I have had to spend time arguing with talking heads that make no attempt to treat me as a good customer, which I most certainly am.

I had auto payment for my BoA credit card set up with my stock broker account. Withdrawals took place without a problem until October of this year when Bank of America didn't request a withdrawal/payment. Then they billed me for overdue payment and interest fees. Their help line was unavailable, their live chat help for online banking was out of service, I talked to about 8 live people who transfered me back and forth and said nothing.

I finally got them to remove the fees and then I closed my card which I have had since 1998. They were rude, ignorant and lazy. I have restitution, but I am sure Bank of America did this to many customers. They want all payments to come from Bank of America accounts.

Jumped my credit card interest rate from 8.9 to 22.49 even though I haven't missed any payments, nor have I been late.

I will not be able to continue to make payments since this will make my payment over double what it is now.

Carol of Laurel, MD November 26, 2008

Carol of Laurel MD (11/26/08)
I helped my dad call BoA to ask for a lower interest rate (he doesn't speak English well) on his credit cards, and my dad had called earlier this month, but he didn't really understand. So I was talking to this lady, and she pretty much said that he wasn't qualified for a lower interest rate, and can only be if he pays on time. (which he does, but I didn't know that until after the call because my dad went to the store right after the caller person talked to him to let me talk about his account- so what is this lady talking about???]

She seemed nice, until she realized that his account was in a lot of debt and that BoA had canceled his card. I understand canceling the cards, her attitude was totally different. And then I asked her what we can do, she pretty much said there's nothing to do. And then I asked for a supervisor, and she said she was the highest I could go. And then I started saying that she was not helpful, and as I was about to say I wanted to speak to someone else, she hangs up on me. HANGS UP.

And then I call back, and ask for the person I was talking to so I could complain about her, they said they have no record of the call. Of course there's no record. She probably didn't submit it because she hung up on me. Really? I mean, right now, some many people are in trouble, and she has the audacity to hang up on me and not let me talk to some one above her? I did not believe her at all that she was the supervisor.

So they gave me an address that I can send a letter to, but that really does no good because its not like they can find out who it is. I can't believe them. My whole family is at BoA and I will definitely move them, and tell EVERYONE NOT to use BoA.
