Auto Portfolio Services

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I changed auto insurance companies in August. Auto Portfolio Services had sent me a packet, stating they were adding their own insurance onto my car invoice. I sent them my GEICO proof of insurance, in order for them to bring my payments to what they had been. Yet, for 2-3 months now, nothing has been done. I kept talking to them during this time, when they would call me. Now, I don't even answer their calls.

I received a call from this company asking for my SS number. When I asked why they told me that my car company sold them my loan. I told that I was not aware of this. I then contacted my car company. I was told the info was correct. However, I was supposed to have been mailed the info. After speaking with Sandra from APS, I was told that they would mail me the info about the change. What I was mailed was form for an automatic draft and that was it. I would like more info regarding this company. I am not comfortable with sharing my personal and financial info with a company that is so evasive. I was threatened with repossession of my vehicle after car note was paid to original lien holder. I have received phone calls from this company over 5 times a day on my cell and at my job.

I have a loan with a company called Peek 5. The auto loan was orginally taken out with Centrix. Centrix later bought Peek 5 and our loan was carried by Peek 5. We have made our monthly payments and there had not been any problems as of 5/2009. The car is jointly owened by my husband and myself who seperated/divorced in May.

The problem happened when the company was bought out by Auto Portfolio Services bought out the company; Peek 5. When the new company(APS) took over onr loan, no one notified us that this process had taken place. This company allowed 6 months to pass, before notifing us that they had the loan and what we owed. As a result a letter was received on 10/12-2009: demanding $2470.99.

I tried to explain to Mr. W, and he even admitted that he had all of the return mail, but he said that I could make payments to catch the loan up, however the attempt to reposess the car would stay in place. In other words even though I am trying to bring it current as soon as I can, the are going to still take the car. I gave Peek 5 my new address and my telephone numbers. There was no reason for the company to allow this acccount to get so far in the rear. I am attempting to pay the balance as soon as I can, and again I have made arrangements. I am disappointed that I am making ever attempt to make this situation right and I feel like I am being taken advantage of.

Also, when I try to contact the company for information,I'm told that there is a limilted amount of information that can be given out about my account.
