Dr. Larry Falkner of El Paso (9/5/03):
Idiot rebuttal who believes you as a consumer are stupid enough to believe that you should go see a brain surgeon to have an ingrown toenail removed. Someone that has no concept of specialization in today's world of medical complication. One that contains so much data that anyone who thinks he or she can do anything or everything in medicine adequately without hurting patients is living in LA LA land.

I personally chose to specialize in my field of optometry because I spent many visits at the Opthalmologists office when I was young only to find out he did not know squat about refractive errors and binocular vision. OH! He could cut but not much else in the field of eye care. Not that Ophthalmologists are bad, we need them. They repair eyes that are really in sad shape sometimes but their specialty training is in surgery where it should be. Most of the ones I work with also know and understand that each of our knowledge bases and specialties are related but different and make sure I see the patients for which conditions exist that I specialize in treating. In this way all patients are given the finest care available without cross specialty jealousies.

Look at all of the consumers that may read the uninformed garbage you guys put out and fail to search out the individual specialty that really could give them maximun benefit for their individual vision difficulties. Shame on you. I figure that the way this site is structured that you guys are really slime ball lawyers looking for work. Too bad you are not smart enough to make an honest living in your area of specialty. Maybe one of them will realize they were harmed by bad advice from you slimeballs and sue you.

We don't think our mild advice that it is "a good idea" to have an annual eye exam by a physician warrants this wildly unprofessional rant. You would want this fellow poking around in your eye?

For the record, our site is not run by lawyers, "slime ball" or otherwise. We are puzzled by Larry's assertion that we might be sued for recommending an annual check-up.
