ITT

Dennis of West Allis WI (02/23/09)
I have a bill from ITT Tech that I believe I do not owe, they have sent it to Cincinnati, Ohio. The collection Agency is harse and they act as though they are out to destroy rather than get money. Yet, I do not owe the bill because. ITT Tech Master Degree Program is online, and my opportunity would have had me graduating in 2010. But ITT Tech online Master Degree is prejudice, they let a student named Lionel claim to me that, since I was african american that he should run the cohort group. I ask the professor for special accomodations, and they stated that, That I should apologize to Lionel, and the cohort group who seemed to be arguing anyway. I got blamed for the whole insecurity.

At the same time I finished the whole class and still recieved a F for the class. At that time I requested a withdrawal from the school in which they said that I could not withdraw. Therefore, they started the next class I stated I needed to withdraw due to the failing grades, and the lack of graded classes to compensate for the financial aid that was being paid.

I would have completed at least 20 credits, and they say that I complete on 8 for a 19,000 + Bill. Then in the end they added the 2,000 + credit violation.

I was enrolled in the Nursing program at the Indianapolis campus. I felt like I did a lot of research in order to make a decision as to what school to attend to obtain my RN. I am somewhat young so I always thought I would start out with my BSN. When I talked to the program director of the Indianapolis campus, she had so much enthusiasm and love for teaching that I thought it would be the best program in the city. I WAS WRONG WRONG WRONG!!

The gen ed courses are such a joke. I can honestly say that I do not feel I learned ANYTHING from the gen eds. During Comp I, we had 3 weeks to write a paragraph... are you kidding me? I feel like the nursing program was great until 1 crazy (literally) instructor began to run it into the crapper. There is no support for faculty or students. I went to the dean in regards to how I was afraid to go to class because my instructor was so unstable and he told me that it was just my perception. Here's a tip for you my perception is my reality.  I do not appreciate being talked to in such a manner.

Then to make matters worse, all Dr. H will talk about in a conversation is everyone he thinks he knows and how his family is full of doctors and nurses. First of all, I dont care who he is related to, who he knows or who he thinks he knows. Also, my family is full of nurses but that does not mean I know anything about the medical field. I have always thought that people who cannot get in anywhere else go to ITT.

Well, after the year I spent there, my suspicions were confirmed. I would guess that at least 30% of the student population at the Indy campus has a learning disability. I am not trying to be rude, but that is the truth. Please keep in mind that these students are there on government grants. Yes grants, our tax dollars hard at work to give a mentally challenged person who will never be successful a degree. I would strongly advise anyone who is thinking about attending ITT for anything, run away as fast as you can because you will end up in debt with nothing to show for it.

I worked for ITT at two different campuses: St. Rose, LA and Fort Wayne, IN. ITT management forces faculty to pass students no matter what. When I failed two students from my class, the Dean reversed the grade and I was disciplined by being placed adjunct for one term (punishment). The recruitment staff go after poor, minorities with in some cases criminal and mental issues.

I used to work for ITT tech in their online division. It is all a scam. They purposely enroll students they know will not finish. They purposely charge high prices and keep students' money. In fact they target uneducated, ignorant people who are poor, convince them to enroll, and place them in programs they know they will fail.

Audra of Harper Woods, MI February 13, 2008

Audra of Harper Woods MI (02/13/08)
I am in the last two weeks of my first year at ITT Technical Institute, am maintaining a 3.9 GPA, and am realizing that it means NOTHING. To be honest I don't even know where to begin. Textbooks are bought, but rarely opened. Instructors are severely disorganized, and quite often make no real effort to teach. One class in particular, was actually never taught at all. Students would arrive, and the instructor would basically sit while we surfed the net, and accomplished nothing. I have had multiple instructors clearly state: If we show up, we'll pass? Yes, seriously, not one, but MANY instructors have said that out loud to an entire class. The instructor to my current Thursday class just told me last week, You don't even need to bother coming to the last week of class, it's not like there is a final exam. Ha! He laughed as if this whole thing is just one big joke!

A's are literally handed out, and I feel cheated out of an education, not to mention the thousands I will owe in student loans. The Dean of Students was actually FIRED during my 3rd quarter. Apparently, too many people were receiving A's in Physics, and the school fell under investigation. There are students who attend with me, who are almost never in class, yet boast of A's and B's at the end of the quarter. This is completely unacceptable, as I work to earn my grades. To know that my efforts have no bearing is just mind-blowing to me. This particular location only offered an Associates Program at the time of sign up, and I am in pursuit of a BA. I asked that important question before I signed anything.

Will credits earned, transfer to other schools? I was told that they would, which is a blatant lie. None of my credits will transfer to a University so that I can pursue a valid education. I am now (suddenly) seeing a little discloser on the ITT television commercials stating most credits will not transfer. This tells me I am not the first to complain, and it finally caught up with them. Unfortunately, it is too late for me. I already owe close to 20,000 in loans to Sallie Mae, who is also the subject of multiple horror stories. I am concerned that there is information regarding these loans that I may be unaware of. I feel completely misguided and betrayed by this institution and its affiliates. Honestly, my goal is to file a class action suit against ITT Tech, as I know I am not the only person who has fallen victim to their scam. There is a website called www.ripoffreport.com that is chock full of complaints.... Thank You for your time and consideration in this matter.
