Everest Institute

Donna of Florissant MO (12/16/08)
I saw the add on tv about Everest College so back in October 2008 I decided to go and talk to a rep for more information. I eventually ended up taking the Cpat/ACT test to be eligable to attend. I passed the test highest score in the class..but when i went to Oreintation in late October of 2008 Greg Sheppard,Director Of Admissions called me into his office and told me they gave me the test too soon(I took the test twice before passing it the third time!)and i wiuld have to take it again due to their screw up. I asked many reps and even Greg about the time frame no one knew or wanted to tell me anything. I took the test again on 10/28/08 at 4:45 pm and passed, once again highest score in class.

I was super excited to attend on 11/24/08. My teacher was nice and great person. I attended school for about 3 weeks when i got a call from my rep saying that they gave me the wrong test and too soon (once again) and i would have to come in and retake a test again.....for the 5th time. It was a complete let down and it really hurt me.

He went on to explain he would give me gas cards for the trouble i went thru coming back and fourth to take the test over and over due to their screw ups. I asked once again what is the time frame and once again they all got amnesia and couldnt tell me or kept sending me to more people who didnt know! I was at my wits end with this..

This is suspose to be an accredited college and not to mention that you really dont learn its so fast paced and you just given an assignment and dont hear about it or anything until its due. comeon now... your learning to be in a medical feild dealing with people lives and you dont get the proper training or anything, how can that be not to mention they still didnt tell me how i would obtain my GED. Proffessional huh.... not even close!!! They are (the reps and SOME teachers) are not properly educated on the information or they responsibilities. Its really hard to get in contact with the president its like playing cat and mouse!! The only person that even tried was the Director of Finance (initials-J.G.). He was sorry about it and kept apologizing but i know that it wasnt his fault, it was whoever didnt know the proper information and kept giving me the run around.

One rep even stated on the phone to me We are giving you a Gas card..we really dont have to give you anything. which was not right to say because first off im not a charity case and you cant buy me with a measly gas card and secondly its not my fault they are not properly informed and neither is their head people in charge so why do i keep having to pay for their screw ups.

I was fed up so on 12/15/08 i decided to talk to all responsible parties on reversing all my loans and turning in all supplies. I got an email from Greg Sheppard saying i will have to pay for gas cards given to me and scubs. I told him that i will not pay gas cards given to me because they stated it was for their mistakes and the stress they caused me....wow 30.00 and i work almost an hour away and i took the test 5 times so imagine that 30.00 is not even close for the trouble they caused!

I told him i will pay for 10.00 scubs and thats it. Greg later emailed me back calling me a quitter and it was a email just insulting me which i kept for my records all the emails sent and received!

Stephen of Fremont, CA March 12, 2008

Stephen of Fremont CA (03/12/08)
Enrolled in Surgical Technology program at Everest College, have paid 24,000+ lodging and transportation and cannot graduate because the school can not provide a final clinical so I can graduate and seek employment. I was to graduate in Nov 2007 however, I still have not completed my final clinical, they do not return my calls or provide a status report.

My loans are now due and I have to make payments, but cannot take the surgical tech exam or get a job as a surgical tech due to the lack of the school fulfilling its obligation. They have not offered any explanation or financial restitution. At this point I may be losing my skills as I completed my last clinical in December 2007.

I have requested a meeting with the college President without any schedule or comment on when my clinical can be arranged or accommodations by the college. I am willing to travel and have been very flexible.

I am 12,000 in debt, and I believe that this institution preys on the naive into paying twice as much as other schools, on programs that employers say are not necessary schooling for the job.

Student loan debt; unemployment.
