The College Network

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Read The College Network's response to customer complaints.

My wife signed up for an online class through The College Network. She is no longer wishing to use their services. We have been told that we still have to pay the amount, even if we do not use their services. My question is this: what if we are held responsible for the cost even if we do not use the services? I have the paperwork signed. I am looking for a lawyer.

I signed up for the College Network a year ago, and I am completely dissatisfied. I never used it and called within the 2-3 day period to cancel and they would not let me. So, I just decided to pay the bill and no complain. But every time I look at the bill, no matter how much I pay, it keeps going up. My principal has not gone down a single dollar. And they keep changing the way the statement looks, so it is really hard to read and understand. Every time I call them, they are very rude with me, and when I ask to talk to a supervisor, he answers, puts me on hold, and then transfers me back to these employees.

Now, they are billing me 3 times in a month, and my bill has not gone down, and they said I authorized them to make automatic payments. I tried to argue that and they said they recorded all the calls and that they have proof that I told them they could make automatic payments monthly. So my lawyer called them to get the recordings and magically the servers were down so they could not get them, and every time my lawyer calls to get these recorded calls, they either hang up on him or something is wrong with the system. Apparently, there isn't much wrong with your system if they are billing me 3 times in one month. I only pay them by check and I don't know how they got my information, and how they are making automatic payments. I have begged them to take me off, even faxed a signed letter like they told me too, and still they have not stopped making excessive payments, and it's literally days apart.

I look at my bank statement and all I see is them withdrawing money, and I get a statement and the amount has not gone down. This is such a scam, and I don't know how to get them to stop making these payments. I have changed my account number, and I have made a separate bank account just for this, but every time I send in a check, they double or triple bill me, and I have threatened to stop making payments to them and they said if I do, they will up the interest, charge excessive fees, and garnish your wages, so I am forced to pay them. Seems like there is no way out. I have never used their college. Just a monthly pain, and they totally ruin your credit.

I met with one of the College Network's college advisor and he painted a pretty picture of how I would be able to finish the classes quicker and cheaper than the traditional route. I am an lVN trying to get my bachelor's in nursing. The advisor told me that the a dateline to apply for Indiana State would be in July. He said that I could sign up for the courses and try it out for a month and if I didn't like it, I could cancel. When I called the College Network a few days later for an advisement, they informed me that the actual deadline is in June and that I can't cancel my contract. The consumer service also said that I will be stuck paying the complete $7000. When I explained what the recruiter told me to sign the contract, I was basically told that I should have read the fine print and whatever I say about my conversation with the recruiter is only "alleged." Fraud. Bad consumer service. There's a reason why 78% gave them only one star.

Actually, I have been using The College Network classes and passing my excelsior courses right along (I have 3 left out of 8). I pay $100 a month through a financial company for the modules I purchased via loan. Imagine my surprise when College Network billed me for an additional $1,500, 2 years after my original contract for classes "they thought I might want". So now I have contacted the BBB and hired a lawyer to get these charges taken off my account. I never sent them an email except when requesting a new module. I never talked to them on the phone or answered any type of letter. They are not honest people and I would not recommend them to anyone.

I signed up for a LPN to RN program that could be done online. It found that I do not have the discipline to take the courses online. I need to be in a classroom setting. I called to cancel the contract, assuming there would be a penalty but was not, and I could not cancel. I have been paying $163 a month for over a year for a service I will use. I did get accepted into my local college's RN program, so now I have to pay for both. I cannot afford both. TCN never tells you you can not cancel in the future. Help!

I have had a similar experience! They misrepresented the contract and made me believe that as long as I didn't try to test out of a module, I could cancel and get reimbursed. They told me all fees were included, but that was a lie that I later discovered. Come to find out, the clinical cost was never included. Why would I pay $5000.00 for access to a website! In Florida, this would have worked for me, but my husband is a military and we are getting moved to Kansas where this is not accepted. They won't let me cancel even though all I have done was looked online at one book. Please, if anyone knows of a class action lawsuit, let me know! I will be getting in touch with Base Legal Department tomorrow and have them direct me in the right direction!

The rep came to my house and told me all this "wonderful stuff" about how I could get my BSN faster through The College Network. He made it sound as if testing fees were all included in the contract and that I would be able to take the tests at my local community college. He never mentioned the time frame I had to cancel only being 3-5 days. When it came to signing the contract, he went over it so fast and "summed it up" quickly. Unfortunately, he made it sound as if I had certain pre-request to do and once I was done, I could apply right away to Indiana state.

About 3 months later, I got a letter and the total for my classes I was required to take had gone up in price and about 3 more classes had been added to my list of classes I had to take. I called The College Network and tried to cancel and then was told, "sorry for you, too late". I explained that I was never told that I only had 3-5 days to cancel and that I hadn't tested or anything yet. I also informed them that my husband had lost his job and that we had a financial hardship, and asked if they would work with me. They would only work with me if I come up with the months I had fallen behind, which since we were having financial hardship, was impossible for me to come up with the money. I was simply told, "I don't know what else to tell you".

Basically, they told me i was screwed. Now, they are calling me on a daily basis and I am getting threatening letters that state I am in collections with them. I have heard many stories of other people being in the same position with The College Network. They are not very forthcoming and honest when they are in a hurry to get you signed up and start taking your money. I just feel that since we are still struggling financially especially now that we have so many debts for my special needs son's medical expenses and I have not used The College Network's services, I wish they could cut me a break and just let me go.

I signed up with College Network about 6 months ago. I am an LPN working full time and wanted to obtain my RN. The representative told me this was the easiest and cheapest way to accomplish this. I was told this would be just like in the classroom, all the help I would need. After 5 months of studying and purchasing their book (Anatomy and Physiology 2), I was still not prepared for the exam and I failed. I graduated from LPN school with honors, and attended another college and was on the Dean's list. I don't believe the problem is with my capability to learn. I telephoned College Network and was told maybe I should go to a community college and get my credits and then come back to them, but I was going to pay them no matter what I decided. I feel I was misled and would like to count my losses and get my education elsewhere. I have already paid over $1000 with nothing to show for it. Anyone with advice? I would appreciate the help.

I signed up for the College Network Program a year ago. I'm working as an LPN after graduating at a technical school and wanted to achieve my BSN. I have since tried to get through two courses that are looked at as "pre-req's" through the program A&P and Micro. Southeast sends letters almost weekly. I'm more than willing to pay the two courses I attempted but after seeing that this program just might not be for me, I don't understand why I need to pay for courses I haven't started. I also had courses tacked on a few months back after signing a contract over a year ago for the courses I understood I needed. Isn't this breach of contract? Has anyone started a class action lawsuit or looked into a lawyer? I'd appreciate an insight.

Salesmen represented this wonderful plan to receive your BSN in less time than it normally takes and at a lower cost. This is by far a lie, you pay more. The school is not accredited. The cancellation process was not explained. I spoke with customer service after missing the first exam by several points and was then told, "Oh, sorry, we pay for the first exam. You pay for the second then we pay for any remaining." It was not what was presented originally, "they are so sure you will pass they pay until you do," which is a lie like everything else they tell you. Then after being informed that I wasn't satisfied about being misled and wouldn't be using their services, approx a year later, they decided to add another course to my loan without my knowledge. They are crooks!

I enrolled to LVN-RN bridge program with the help of women came to my house from the college network. She did not tell me anything about the contract. I was so happy to go for it and rushed to start my school. I did not look at the detailed stuff I signed, which is killing me now. I never heard that there is scam covered up with school. After 2 weeks, I find out all I've been told by the women were lies and then she kept contacting and telling me that the contract I signed with Financial Credit Union is transferable so if I got somebody, she can transfer the loan and I will be free.

Of course, I do not want anybody to suffer like me so I told her to find the person and to let me know. She agreed but I was planning to contact whoever she found to inform about this scam. She called me and said "I got a student who is very happy and ready to jump on it. She cannot wait until she starts." I crossed my fingers and said okay. Too bad, she's asking me for money to give the student because she is going to take my loan and the money keeps going up from $300 to $700 any time when we talk about the transferring processes and I just let her lie until she got tired.

In the mean time, I have taken any document, text and so on to save for the future and give her $200 when she asked and said I have to put money otherwise she cannot go far. She printed the wrong paper from the website, showing me that it is my record to keep, and she said it shows the cancellation of the contract. I cried inside, why were these women doing this? Why did she try to kill me for the second time? So sad why she'd do this and not think that she's putting herself in a problem? At least, the first time I was so excited to go school to get my dream and I signed the contract and now, standing in my face and lie like I am damned. I was so sad, I couldn't explain it. I took the paper from her and told her that I will call her when I get paid and walk away from her and the contact lawyer. I am so sad to see this in my life, to meet a person like her.

The College Network is a scam. They sent a salesman to my house to convince me to sign up for online class towards becoming a Registered Nurse. I am currently a licensed Vocational Nurse. The salesman assured me it was an accredited institution and now I am finding out that they are not. I paid $5,000-plus and can't get my money back. I am nowhere near closer to becoming an RN. It's a scam. They confuse you by telling you that you can take tests with an accredited school for certificates, but really it's just all lies. It's totally a scam. Don't do it!

I joined The College Network then found out I would never be allowed to practice in Illinois where I was from and tried to cancel, but was told, "We have no record of your canceling." Too bad, it is so sad. There's no money back even though you'll never use our service. We got your money and sorry about your bad luck.

I was never informed of the time frame to cancel after signing. I am now being threatened that I'm being sued. I found out today I have a co-worker in the same exact situation and they've attached her pay for $800 per month. She is the sole supporter for her and her disabled husband. The salesman who came to my house appeared so organized and thorough, using his pencil to point out all of the "highlights" of the program and failed (purposefully I'm sure) to make a point of telling me I only had 3 or 5 days to cancel.

I have contacted the Attorney General and am hiring a lawyer of my own. I don't know how to go about starting a class action law suit but I will be learning quickly! It didn't take long to find several other people in the same exact boat. It seems to be the same complaint across the board. I will definitely be following up with exposing this scam on Channel 8 News. I will do anything possible to help protect consumers from falling for this trickery. How do you justify collecting $8,000.00 from somebody who never used your service? Just for simply signing? I am not just sitting back and letting this go like I'm sure the company hopes I will.

My wife and I fell for the scam of the TCN. Now, we are on the hook for over $11,000. Same story as everyone else, I tried and tried and consistently told, tough luck, you're stuck paying for our service that you haven't ever nor will you ever use. This morning we contacted a lawyer and the FL Attorney General. See what we can get done.

A representative came to my house 2 months ago and talked "The College Network" up. She said how amazing it was. She said how they send someone over to my house if I'm struggling to tutor me, if I fail a test, then they will pay for it, and never informed me until last minute of having to cancel in only 5 days if I'm not satisfied. They don't contact you to set up a trial run and tutoring session of the website until 3 days later, so you're not familiar with how it runs until the day you can cancel. The study material and books are a joke--no pictures. When you call if you have a question, they have to put you on hold for 20 minutes to get the answers to the quizzes. The people that are on the other line have no clue how to explain the material because they have no medical degree of any sort. I am now locked into an $8,000 loan and they won't help. Warning: it's a joke and this business should not be a business. I can't believe they give you 5 days to make a decision that could be life-changing.

I too have signed up and have been paying The College Network for my education in nursing. When I signed up with them, I understood that the money I was paying would cover all my educational expenses, including exams. It was only after signing that the truth came out--that I would have to pay an additional $1500.00 enrollment fee to Excelsior College. I asked repeatedly if all expenses were included and that there were no hidden charges. The counselor assured me that they were. I have barely been able to make the monthly payments as it is, much less come up with the $1500.00 to enroll in Excelsior. So I have given up for the time being. I have no income now and my husband's disability check pays for my 'tuition.' It has hurt my family. That's money that could be going towards funding education for my children. It goes to these scammers instead. There's a special place in hell for these people.

I met with a salesperson and a couple of classmates from the LPN class we graduated from. The salesperson made it sound like we were going to get our RN license by taking the classes online. He went on about how the cost would be comparable to the same as the school I graduated from. He said I would be getting modules that I would study and all I have to do is schedule a test and when I passed the test, I will receive credits by an accredited college. I was okay with that. I studied the module, Lifespan Developmental Psychology until I felt I was ready to take the test. I just took my first test yesterday and as I began taking the test, I noticed the majority of the questions didn't pertain to the module The College Network sent me. I was sweating bullets and ended up barely passing the test with a 75%, which is a C.

I never had a C when I was in the LPN program. I graduated nursing school with honors. I know that the only reason I passed that test is because I'm a great test taker. Also, I remembered most of the material from the class, "Journey Across Lifespan" when I was in the LPN program. These two classes are almost identical, which leads me to another question. How do I know that the prerequisite courses the salesman told me that I had to take is true? I have already paid $2,400 to this outfit and cannot justify paying one more cent. I brought up a study guide outline from Excelsior College (which is the accredited college where I will get my credits when I pass each test) and it had a lot more things to it than The College Network study guide.

How can this be legal? I feel they are not giving me what I am paying for. The material they sent me is no good. It doesn't help me one bit. I feel that in order for me to pass the courses, I have to buy the real study material from Excelsior College which means I've wasted my money on some outfit that is scamming me by sending material that is not relevant to the test. What can I do? I feel so ** for letting them take me for $2,400 so far. I stopped the payments. I figure what's worse? Ruining my credit or getting ripped off for $12,000, which is what I would end up paying for when my loan ends in five years?

I signed a contract that was to be prorated, based on transcript. I reviewed the balance of the loan, and it was to be rewritten or applied to the RN program. I was sent books I asked for several months for reviews and information, and was sent a request by Southeast Financial to take an addition of the original loan amount, which I declined to do. I sent a letter to reduce payment due to financial burden, and was not able to get a response from anyone. I stopped my payment to the loan, and I am now being sued. I tried to work with an attorney, and they are trying to add a percentage and an additional $700. I only have a few days to actually file, which I think was a stall tactic on the attorney's part.

I have had the same experience as so many of the rest of you. After realizing I was misled, I tried to return the wrapped "modules" and was told that I still had to pay. After being harassed and already given them thousands of dollars for nothing, I have decided my money will now go to fighting their scam. If you would like to join me, I need your voice. Let me hear your voice. These scams need to stop!

I was pressured into signing a contract with them (TCN) when I mate with a representative that came to my house. When I told him I wasn't ready, he told me I could give him a post-dated check. Then I said loan agreement, and then he explained that to sign up with them I would have to do a loan with them. Against my better judgment, I signed. One month later I have not made the first payment or used any programs or anything as yet, so I called to cancel. I expected a penalty. But I was informed that once the cancellation date had passed there was no cancelling, you have to pay whether or not you want to continue with the program. I already paid 23,000 for my RN program in which I did not pass my last med-surg class and was kicked out of the program because you can only fail twice in any of the nursing classes. Only for this to happen to me now.

I just happened to come across this site and noticed all of the negative feedback in regards to The College Network. I am happy to say that I completed the LPN to RN program and couldn't be happier with my experience. A representative came to my house, explained everything very clearly to me and answered my questions. I knew up front exactly how much everything would cost. They made it very clear that I would pay extra for my exams and that I would in fact graduate from Excelsior College. There was no hidden information and it is definitely not a scam. I have been working as a RN since 2006 and couldn't be happier! I've even contacted TCN to gather information in regards to the RN-BSN program.

I too was suckered into this scam. I am now paying monthly for this scam college that I never used. I was pressured into signing this note that did not have anything about a loan with a credit union on it. All of the sudden I started getting bills from some credit union saying my account was past due. I then started calling the "school" and got passed around, and no one would answer my questions of why I was not told I was signing a note to a credit union when I hadn't applied for a loan. They informed me that I had signed a consumer loan, and no it didn't matter if I finished the program or not. I was responsible for the loan. To this day I am still paying on this ** and am furious. I certainly hope that someday a class action is brought against this company and every one gets their money back that they have been told they cannot have, nor are they going to get anything in return for what they have spent. This is now on my credit report. Thanks, College Network, for taking advantage of another poor soul trying to better themselves.

They outright lied to me, stating that they will provide an associates degree. They said, it will come from Excelsior College. They did not tell me that they were not a school. I told them, I didn't want to sign a promissory note but they told me I couldn't even register without doing so. So, I have been paying, and not using anything. Someone please help me get my hard earned money back so I can go to a real school!

I spoke with a lady, who met with me and about five other co workers of mine at Starbucks, who promised us that the college network would be supportive and inexpensive. Wanting to be a registered nurse and getting a bachelor's with it was ideal. Especially since we could still work and do this on our leisure but this is not true, we had no support.

The material was complicated. I was told I could start anywhere. I had to pay additional for test, and when my payment lapsed because their promises to me were broken they garnished my wages at my job. This company is a scam, rip off, and as soon as I find a way to enter them into a class action lawsuit, I'll be satisfied. I don't know one person who has completed this course.

I had just graduated from nursing school in 2010. They came to my school and told everyone how great this school was (school). LOL, I was an LPN, and I wanted to get my RN. Well, I set up an appointment with them and this lady came by my house. We talked and she just stated how great it was and the book was not really a real book, it was for anatomy and physiology. Then I would go right in to the nursing program. Well, I was trying to understand the material I had already taken that class but it was at a technical college, so it wouldn't count and then after I sign up, I find that I couldn't go take my credits to another school because they cannot transfer.

I have been working and I haven't even taken one test. I called them and told them I wanted to go to another school and they said, well you have to still finish paying us. I said, I haven't done anything and this program isn't working for me. They said this is like a mortgage and you can't just stop paying for your house. I said this isn't House, this is a product and I didn't use your product. I would like my money back . They told me there is nothing I can do . I really don't like college network, it is a scam and I want to get out of it as soon as possible. If there is a class action suite against them, I want in. I just don't see how this is legal.

I was told that if I could not pass the first course, I would not be able to do the next course, so I paid cash for my first course. I've had so many problems and, decided not to continue with the whole program. I contacted CNR. They claimed I could not cancel the program, since it was more than 3 days! On the 2nd day, I had called to cancel the program, but they told me it takes about a week before my information gets into their system. Now, they are sending me to court, to pay for a service that I never received. I need help to get them off my back.

College network sent Mr. Rasim S to my house and talked about their program. He misinformed about the agreement, never told me or show me any document to say that I have three days to withdraw from the program. I called him after a week to let him know I could not start the program and also informed the school. I started getting threatening calls from companies representing College Network that I must pay all the money. I paid some but I felt these is not right because I have not taken any class and I was still in my LPN school. Why should they send their representative to misinform innocent student just to put them into debt? Now I have decided to take this issue to the Attorney General.

The whole thing is a scam. Read what you are signing if you are thinking about taking this program. I signed up for this scam and it was the worst thing I have ever did. The program adviser was so good with his pitch he had me hook line and sinker. I thought it was the best thing for me do get my RN! Wrong! First, there is only a 3-day window to cancel. They never told me that they took my checking information and that's how they lock you in! I was stuck paying a $7.000 loan that I could not get out of.

I tried to file bankruptcy because I really was out of it. I had no money, no nothing. I was up to my ears in debt with no way out, so everything went good with that, but the next thing I know I got a call from a collection place saying I still have to pay the loan from southeast financial credit union. I told them I put that in with my chapter 7. They said that it was a student loan, so I could not put that in my chapter 7. Low and behold, they were right! So I am stuck still paying of this ** loan that I didn't use or get nothing out of. So if you read this, stay away from them. It's a scam.

Before you make a major mistake, ask The College Network. Will their credit transfer to any school? Do they have anyone with any credentials at all on their customer support team? If I need to drop out for any reason, do I get a refund? Who gets to keep the test fees if I don't use them?

This company has been scamming people for years by not being forthcoming when they sell you on this stuff. Be very careful!

My complaint is similar to many I have read on this page. I graduated from high school and nursing school with honors. I have taken a CLEP test twice and both times I have missed it by 2 points. I have already requested credit from TCN and they stated that I bought this program for life, I can just take a break for 5 or 10 years and restart the program again. This company has misrepresented themselves and they are not preparing us to actually pass a CLEP test. They also explained as soon as I enrolled I would be able to get a deferment letter for my other student loans which was not true. I have now wasted months and thousands of dollars and have nothing to show for it. This cannot be legal. I could be halfway through my ADN to BSN if I would have gone through a different program.

This is not a college, people! It's like a broker, who sells "books" to help you "clep" out of a class. I'm taking the nursing LPN to RN program and it's great! Instead of signing up with the college I'll be attending, I am studying the books from college network, then taking excelsior tests at the professional testing center. Its also almost 50% cheaper. I am now enrolled in Excelsior College and still using the college network books to study. It's confusing to some but it's actually just a condensed book of information for the class instead of reading, say, three books you read one condensed one. It's working for me. I'm passing all my courses and Excelsior takes my credits because I took their tests at the testing center.

This is an online university school. All this online school do is agree with the instructor on what they say goes. When a student is in the classes all the time and do his assignment and still get a grade of an F. Something is wrong with this. The school is just taking the online students' money. That's all that they care about and they also lie to the students a lot, too.

I got tied up with these people 3 years ago. They paid me the same visit, signed me up to complete a Masters degree and took my deposit. I studied their "materials." When it was time to take a test at the official testing center, I arrived and the testing center had never heard of them or their course. I called from the center and nobody would speak with me.

Later that day, I found that I could no longer access my course online. Nobody will take my calls or respond to my letters. I have been in collections for 2 years and owe some finance company a huge amount for something I cannot access. The college is "selling" access to courses which are not recognized and do not exist. Your debt to the college is actually a debt to a finance company. The "'college" is paid by the finance company and you are left to pay the finance company.

They do not care that you didn't get anything for your money. Just this morning, I received a call from a man who said he was acting on behalf of South East Financial who told me if I didn't pay them, they would send collectors to take my vehicle. He also added that he could "make life very uncomfortable for me if he chose to."

It is intimidating. I am not impressed with The College Network who are clearly a scam outfit. I am less impressed with South East Financial whose employees see fit to make threats.

I am in the same boat as the rest of you. I tried to cancel mine the same week I signed up and nobody would let me. I also was unaware that I did not have the opportunity to cancel my schooling. So, I attempted it and was not doing good at all. I got no help from anyone, just letter after letter saying they're here to help. What a lie! You would think teachers would do everything they can to help you succeed. And if you're not succeeding in their school, they would do something to help me. But I am finding that out to not be true. I am with everyone else on the lawsuit. It's not fair. I went to the dispute page and wrote a letter explaining why I wanted my contract canceled. They sent me a letter saying no. I agree to paying what I have looked at. But the courses in which I haven't, I don't feel I should continue to pay when I haven't reviewed the material and won't ever review it. I'm going to a campus to finish mine. This is a joke and a waste of my time.

I was visited by a sales rep and she made the program sound amazing. I was a straight A student when I was in the LPN program. I was promised support and practice tests online. Well, I have been working on the LPN to RN program for over a year and still can not get through one module! I work as a manager in a long-term care facility and I can't feel comfortable enough to even sit for one test! There has been no support. When I have called, I feel like the reps treated me like I am dumb. I would never recommend this program to anyone, ever!

The material is substandard and useless to get a nursing degree. The company is not cooperative when requesting appropriate information to finish material. There is no accreditation for the nursing program, which their representative lied about. They are refusing to return my money or send the correct material to complete any degree. Worst program on the market.

I was scammed in the same way everybody else was. The guy was at my house and talked me into buying all the books to become an RN. I hate the books. They are not user friendly. Now I am stuck paying 8000 dollars for these books. I found this website by looking for a place to sell my College Network books. Since I am sinking financially in today's economy, I would like to get some of my money back. Couldn't we do some kind of class action lawsuit?

I was contacted by a representative prior to my LPN graduation. I sat and had a long discussion with the so called representative, and at no point was I explained to that this is not in fact a college, that I couldn't back out, and that I could not transfer to another school.

I called within the first week of this program and was informed that I could not back out since it was past the three day limit and that this was not a normal student loan, so I could not transfer it to a school that was actually going to give me what I am paying monthly for. I currently owe around $7,000 and pay it monthly so that my credit rating does not falter. Someone needs to file a class action law suit! I would be happy to join!

I had a rep come to my house and sell me the same line that he fed all these other people. I have a loan for over $7000.00 that I am paying on every month. I do have good credit and do not want to have it put on my credit report. I am a single mother trying to make ends meet. And I am paying for a binder with some papers in it. I can't take the test they said I could take, unless I was to travel hundreds of miles. And then, the school is supposedly in Indiana, not a compact state with Texas. So, I will get nothing. I might as well go out on the street corner and give my money to someone. Please help.

I was scammed by The College Network. Does anyone know a good lawyer? With all of us together, we surely must have a case. I am sure that there are many more people out there who haven't ever even seen this website. I have been scammed for a year and just stumbled upon this website today so there must be many others. Again, is there anyone who knows a lawyer? Please, there must be something that we can do.

The College Network is a complete scam. They send a sales consultant to your home who has a sales pitch very well rehearsed. He took a look at my foreign transcripts and told me what subjects would transfer to the Excelsior LPN to RN program.

Well, after having my transcripts forwarded to Excelsior, turns out no subjects/credits transferred. I now have to take an additional five modules. That is another 1-1.5 years and a lot of money!

Don't believe anything they tell you. They will not cancel or refund. I asked to speak to a supervisor but have yet to hear from them. Do not sign up with TCN!

I enrolled into the LVN to the BSN program. I tried to cancel, and I was told that they are not able to do so. I have not started any of the courses and I am supposed to pay them for something that I have been denied access to and apparently, is paid for by the loan lender. I refuse to pay for something that I am unable to utilize, and they are not even available for any assistance. I have not heard from my so-called advisor since our initial meeting. It looks like a lot of people have been scammed by The College Network.

I enrolled in The College Network about a year ago. I have received books from them and studied the materials. I took the test at the end of the chapters and could pass any test on the materials in these books. The problem is that the test we go to take is not equivalent to the materials that is issued by The College Network. There are five of us that signed up and all of us are having great difficulty passing the final test. I have passed one out of four test. The other ladies have done equally as bad.

I was on top five of the 90 something graduating class in 1996, and during the LPN school, I worked 7 days a week and went to school 5 days a week. I have never had to struggle this much with school. I feel that I have been scammed and that The College Network is not helpful at all. So far, I have had to take additional courses that have cost me additional $800. I was told that I would not have to take these courses since I was already an LPN. But I was still asked to do so. I am posting this in hopes that no one else will get scammed by The College Network like I have been. Thanks.

Sarah, Clarksville, TN

There were five of us LPNs who signed on to do the LPN to RN programs. We were truly misled. None of the modules we received were comparable to the tests. We have all failed most of the tests that we have taken. The test proctors have informed us that most of the people who go through The College Network do not pass their test. They also directed us to take a test, which, we later discovered, were comparable into spending 30 hours in a classroom to pass. The classes they directed us to take and the information they gave us were very misleading. Stay far away from The College Network.

I would just like to say that the College Network program is a complete rip-off. I signed up for the LPN to RN program. They make it sound so amazing when you talk to them. I paid over $5,000. And I just now paid off my loan in full. I never even took the first test. I paid off my loan because that is the kind of person I am. And I have excellent credit. However, they don't tell you all the hoops you have to jump through to finish the programs. You have to go out of state to do your clinicals, pay for your tests each and every time you have to take one, etc. You have to pay fees to Excelsior College (which I have also paid in full) to be enrolled there in order to receive your degree. They downplay all of that and make it sound wonderful. They give their little speech to you and ask you to sign the dotted line without you really knowing the full deal. I would call and ask them to send my updated modules and never receive them.

I got sick of the nonsense. I went to another college and got my RN. I feel very strongly that they took advantage of me. I called them today and asked if I could have a refund, because I did not even take my first test. I was told no. I hope they can sleep at night because $5,000 is a lot of money to me. And basically, I just handed it to them for nothing. If you don't do the program, you should get your money returned, bottom line. I can see if I actually took some tests, but I didn't. If you are even thinking about College Network, please think long and hard about it. You will not have a student loan, but a personal loan through a credit union. It's very shady in my opinion. Most businesses would return your money if you didn't receive their services. I am not surprised at all about all of the negative responses I have seen about them.

I totally agree with all the complaints. I signed up with the College Network in January of 2010 for the LPN to RN transition course. I have been paying since but have not been able to get through any of the courses due to situations of my own. Last June, I contacted the College Network and was advised that I only had three days to cancel and signed the agreement so "there is nothing that can be done." I explained to them several times that I can't pay and don't want to do the course but they called constantly on my cell, at work and my mom's home. I advised them to stop calling my job and they have.

Paramount Capital, the loan company for College Network, stated that there is nothing that they can do to stop this because I signed a paperwork. Since the blame is being thrown back and forth between companies, I would like to know how I can cancel this. There is got to be a way besides getting a lawyer. If everyone keeps filing complaints and if we start a class action lawsuit, can we get our monies back? Good luck, everyone.

I was promised that I could earn a degree through their program LPN-BSN. I signed a contract to get started. I received no assistance as promised after signing.

A representative of The College Network came to my house to fill up the applications for online classes program for LVN to BSN. He asked for a postdated check in the amount $300.00 for August 22nd 2011 as an initial payment. I thought that I was registered so I tried to go on-line but I was unable to log in. I called Mr. Brian ** (representative) to let him know that I was unable to log in. He responded that I am not officially enrolled and that he will come to my house to pick up all the document for enrollment that he mistakenly processed.

Mr. Brian picked up all the documents. I waited for them to let me know if can be on-line but nobody contacted me. I decided to stop going through the program so I called them to get my money back, since there was no official registration done according to their standard processing. I wanted my $300.00 back because there was no service done. I spoke with Matthew (academic advisor) and he told me that I cannot be refunded and I will be charge $200.00 monthly even though I am not registered to their program. Please help me.

It is unfair that I am getting charge for not having satisfactory service or result being their mistake. I was so disappointed, frustrated and stressed out about refunding my money and getting charge monthly. Talking with their staff is so frustrating and they are very unhelpful.

You should all know better than deal with this company. Gary ** defrauded thousands of students and the Federal Government out of millions of dollars with the scam company superior truck driving schools. The college network is the latest scam.

This guy came over to my house, started writing, and asking me to sign papers. He never explained to me about not being able to cancel. I asked, "If I don't like it, can I cancel?" He said, "Yes. Call me. But you won't like to cancel because this is a good program and we will be there for you. You just relax. We will do everything for you."

This is my first time doing something like this and he misled me and played me for a fool. He was in my house for about 45 minutes because he had an appointment with another client. He promised to return and bring my materials but he never did. Everything he said was a lie. He is taking advantage of people and doesn't take the time to explain. He only wants for you to sign; that is his job. He'd push the paper and say, "Sign here. Read it when you have time."

He ** my life. He needs to be stopped because what he is doing is not good. Then, people ask, "What happens when someone goes crazy?" It is because of people like him. I wish him the worst.

In 2008, I obtained a student loan through this setup but I found out later that it is not a student loan but a personal loan through Carolina Collegiate Credit Union which I paid for two years and received only two books. In January of 2011, I stopped paying since I really have not received any services from them. Now, I'm in collections and need advice on how I can have this resolved. Do I still have to pay them 4995.00 for doing nothing?

I signed up for college courses to go from LPN to RN. I paid every month for 2 years, it was taken out of my bank account. I had to leave the state to care for ailing relative for 2 months. When I called them to arrange for the 2 missed payments they told me to pay the 4000. in full. I explained that I could not do that at that time. I was told that I was out of the program and would be sued for the the entire amount. I never opened a book, never took one course. I now have a judgement against me....

I was visited by Heather ** a representative of TCN on July 13, 2011. She was very adamant about the success of the program and how easy it would be to complete. I asked all the correct questions and I was told that there would be no out-of-pocket expense except for the application fee to Excelsior College.

After speaking to an advisor, I was informed much differently and found out that there are at least 5,000 more dollars worth of expenses that are not being financed. I was highly upset at this and asked about cancelling the whole thing. I was informed that I was not able to cancel because the three-day notice had expired.

I sent a request dated July 18, 2011 and received no call back. I resent the request after speaking with an academic representative from the network today. The representative became very rude and continued to tell me that I should have read the small print and there would be no cancellation of anything. I tried to contact the credit union that supplied the loan and I was transferred to the College Network Division. Once again, I got an answer of no cancellation! Now it seems as though I am stuck with making a payment to a credit union for services not rendered and The College Network is collecting the money.

I am very distraught about this and I am looking for legal recourse, if possible. I am a new LPN and want to further my education but not at the cost of being scammed!

The College Network misrepresented themselves as a viable course to obtain higher educational opportunities. The "program" affiliates themselves with a lenders source, and then when consumer attempts to cancel or leave the program, they are not allowed to.The program takes the money from the lenders source and if the individual has not been up with payments, they will not allow you to utilize their "self-help" course that, by the way, is already paid for.

The bottom line is I am being asked to pay for a course I am not allowed to use--even after I told them I no longer wanted to continue the course.

In May 2008, I met with a representative from College Network at a local Starbucks. He was very convincing that this program would be ideal for me as an LPN looking to complete my RN. I was very hesitant as I had just lost my mom and a single mom of two daughters working full time. I signed up for College Network, thinking I was making an agreement with College Network, not Lifeway Credit Union. I was told I had three days to cancel. I called the gentleman who helped me and canceled when I realized that it just wasn't the right time to do this, along with having spoken with a friend who had a bad experience with them. I was assured that all I needed to do was speak with him and let him know that I wanted to cancel, which I did do.

May 2011, I received a letter from an attorney's office in Texas, who stated that Lifeway Credit Union is suing me for $6,996 (original amount was approx $3,500). I called the lawyer's office who told me that they would offer me a "settlement" and that it wouldn't touch my credit report if I agreed, and on top of it, they assured me that if I agreed to pay $1,096 now and $150 a month, that they would have me reinstated into the nursing program so that I can take advantage of the program still. When I received the "contract" by email, it mentioned that they would have me "reinstated into the program", but it wasn't specific in any way, very vague and left me without much protection that what they were telling me was factual. The wording left quite a bit of room for misinterpretation and room for me to be taken advantage of further.

When I responded to the "contract", I told them that I wanted it to be more specific with wording such as, "We will ensure that you are reinstated into the LPN to RN program through College Network, you will receive all of your modules and testing information so that you can complete your education as originally agreed with College Network contract in May 7, 2008 with all the benefits and information from this program." I received a responding email stating this, "As I stated in our earlier conversation, my supervisor has strict rules with this client.

He has asked me to inform you that the letter could not be altered by any means due to the fact our attorneys have advised our office. Due to the fact this matter is considered a settlement, I must also remind you there is a time limit on getting this matter resolved. We have requested your file upon you keeping your side of this deal without checking information. There is nothing I can do. Please let me know if you would like to finish the transaction by today end of business."

I have never used this program. Not one thing, not one single class, not one single test, nothing. I canceled before even beginning and I am currently in school and working full time and I am a full-time mom. I cannot afford this to happen, but I feel stuck. Big business screwed another innocent victim.

I work as a nurse at a nursing home. On their billboard was a card from College Network's and a letter stating they can help with getting an LPN nurse to an RN in college. So I called because I always wanted to complete my nursing to become an RN. Someone from College Network meant with me that same hour I had called, in fact because I had worked the night shift I had forgotten about the meeting this person made sure I didn't forget and called until I meet up with him. He explained everything about how they can help with connecting me with college to complete my RN from an LPN.

All the time he was already filling out my Consumer Promissory Note and LPN to BSN Purchase Agreement. On this other form estimates cost of degree. He filled out with dollar amount of what I will pay for which is $23822.00, on the bottom of the sheet it says, Note The College Network,Inc. is not affiliated, formally or informally, with Excelsior College. To my horror, I signed because he gave me every excuse when I stated it was too much money. I was tired and wanted to go home. I work again 11pm to 7am. When I returned home, I attempted to cancel because I was given 3 days to cancel. When I called the person I spoke with, had told me "The person you need to speak too is not in you will have to call back to inform him of your cancellation." At that point, I had mention to him I didn't want to reach the 3 days because I wanted to cancel, he reassure me. I called back later and no one answered. When someone did, I was told I would have to call back on Monday because everyone was gone.

I told him by Monday it will be too late. He told me no because I had spoken with someone about my cancellation. So I agree, on Monday when I did call to my horror, I was told it was too late I could not cancel. The sad thing is I had forgotten who I had spoken with each time someone did answer the phone. I was upset and told this person what can I do to cancel and he told me, " Each month Customer Care team reviews people who need to cancel, you will need to write a letter explaining what happen and why you want to cancel. I wrote this letter and never received a response from The College Network. I assumed everything was ok. Until May 2011, I was checking my credit and saw to my horror over $10,000 that I owed to The College Network. I had called them to dispute this and all their response was, you signed a contract you are obligated. All this started May 1, 2009. So far I have spoken with Matthew, Laura, I ask to speak with a supervisor, but each time their was no one. Please note that when I did complain with Matthew and Laura, I was also told I had agree and signed a consumer loan. When I stated I never request for a loan with The College Network, Laura had said you sign a Promissory note a truth-in-lending, which was never explained to me, that I was signing for a loan. Please look up all the complaints from people that were lied to and mislead. Please review. I feel very over stress out and no one from The College Network will help me.

I took out a loan for their courses. I was told, "We will help you through the course." After several months tried to get out of the contract, they wouldn't let me out. I reported it to the BBB. I am still paying the loan at this time.

This was all before the economic down turn. I explained that it was hardship. They reiterated that I signed the contract. I have not taken one course and I have to pay. Since I don't want any bad credit, I continue to pay on the loan through their credit union. The payments being sent could be used for other bills, food, and gas. But instead, it's like purchasing something I will never use.

This school and all its programs needs a class action lawsuit or maybe just shutdown.

If there is ever a class action lawsuit, please, someone let me know. While in college, reps from the college network met with my class. After working for a while in long term care I decided to contact the college network. The pitch was simple and pain free. There was no talk about Excelsior College and what they were going to require, only mentioned was the 3-day clinical that would cost approximately $2000 plus travel expense.

Excelsior paper work states that prerequisite classes will not be required to take again through them, but they did not transfer my micro-biology, anatomy and physiology and psychology; instead they added a class of their own. That is something like 11 credits which come with a charge of I think its $325 per credit and around $240 to $355 per test. Additionally then were application fee of $75, enrollment fee of $895, annual student fee of $440, and $495 as graduation fee. Excelsior offered me no financial aid and no scholarship. I asked the advisor "how many people say to you that they didn't know what they were getting into" and she said "It happens all too often". I lost my job as a home health nurse; the patient passed away and I'm now working only two noc shifts per week.

I got my test fees included in my loan and I took only two tests, but now I am stuck with a $113 a month bill for 60 months for nothing because I wasn't fully informed by The College Network rep. The discouragements that these two companies have brought on are both physical and mental exhaustion and extreme depression, because they are so willing and capable of swindling people that are honestly trying to make life better for their families and society.

I keep getting mail addressed to the parents of Susie **. There is no phone no. or address to get them to take me off their mailing list. I am 58 years old and have no idea how they got the Susie ** at my place of business.

I'm an LVN with a very busy schedule, and I was planning on getting my RN. In 2007, I found College Network School online. The next thing a guy consultant called and made an appointment to come to my house. When he came, he told me it's an online class but they have all kinds of resources around to help students through this LVN - RN/BSN program such as study board online, a lot of college network students around me, textbooks, study guide, etc. Of course I was happy that finally I could get my RN done out of my very busy schedule. I've taken online class before so it wasn't a big thing to me until now.

The consultant reviewed my transcript and told me what my fees were going to be. He collected a check of about $200 as one time fee, which I don't know of up til now. I then asked what if for some reason I am not able to move on or if I wanted to cancel. The guy said yes I could. I also asked that if I take classes from community college, could i get credited for it? He said yes and I just have to call the school and tell them. We went through the loan thing which was about $8000.

About 3 months later I decided to start the program after I've gotten my books. I wanted to start with statistics because I'm good at math. The text book was so complicated, too short and practice question was terrible. At this point, I took the English textbook thinking maybe it will be better. Believe me, it's just as complicated as the first one. Now I decided to call the school to ask how I could log in into study board online and get the list of students around me. The representative told me they don't have a study board and that they don't have any student around me yet. OMG! I told her what the student consultant who came to my house said, she said she didn't know why he told me that but they don't have it at this time.

How do they expect me to understand all these complicated books? So I asked if I could cancel. She told me 'no', I couldn't because I only had 3 days to cancel and it's more than 3 months now. So I've been going through this mess since then. I have paid them about $3000 before I stopped paying the loan. I didn't take no class from this college network but they are now garnishing my wage for more than $11,000. I didn't get any letter from court to show up to defend myself because they gave the court a wrong address. The judgment was made in my absence.

College Network is a rip off, they lied and tricked me into what they couldn't provide. This should not be happening in this country. A lot of us are foreigners, we left our home because we looked up to this country for better things. This is so disappointing that this college network is still operating with all these report. God help us!

This incident has caused me emotional distress, a bad credit, inability to further my education due to not being qualified for student and left me unable to meet up with my bills.

I, too, have been scammed by The College Network. It has been almost two years and have only taken one test, which I failed. The test contained nothing that was in the module I was sent to study. No one ever calls to check and see how things are going. I have tried to get out of the contract but no way will they let you. I continue to have to pay $216 a month. My husband was deemed to be disabled and has not been able to work for over a year now. The loss of his extra income has been devastating to us.

I signed up with College Network in 2007. I had a salesman come to my home to present the program to me. It sounded good. I don't remember what exactly was said, but I did ask what if I decided not to go through with their course. I was told not a problem. I wrote a check for I think $50.00. I called them after I discovered the online education wasn't for me and canceled. I returned all my books. I expected that would be the end of College Network, I never used any of their tests or products. I signed on with West Coast University and completed my education in nursing.

All the while, I continued to receive bills from College Network. I called them and told them I didn't owe them any money, that I canceled my contract. I was told I didn't cancel my contract in time and I was inactive. I was never told I had only 3 days to cancel my contract. I was also told College Network is not a school, they only sell a consumer product. They said I needed to contact someone by the name of Happiness, to which I left several messages with no return phone call.

I am being sent a summons and am being sued for a settlement amount of $12,000.00 for something I haven't had time to use. Both my parents have had open heart surgery, my mom in 2009 and my dad in 2010, for which whom I have been taken care of along with a bunch of other health problems as well (eye surgeries, dental surgeries, pneumonia, etc.). Please have an attorney call me at their earliest convenience so as I can explain further. I am only an LPN, haven't paid anything or taken tests. I need help as I am being sued for this amount.

While working as a LPN, two years out of school, I decided to contact Excelsior College to complete their LPN to RN program. I was told that they would finance my classes through the College Network. I paid $200 via telephone with my debit card. I was told that I would be charged $188 a month for 60 months. I later received my first module per my request, since I was told that they no longer distribute the module and the website was my way of obtaining my required course material. The module that I requested is so confusing, the way it is written. I took one exam and failed. I tested in summer; the testing center was extremely hot and uncomfortable. The employees told us that the ac unit was out of order.

We complained if the uncomfortable environment. I myself am hypoglycemic and to have to test in such harsh conditions was unacceptable. The College Network was informed of the testing conditions. There response to me was well you didn't complain so there is nothing we can do. You'll have to pay the testing fee out of your pocket next time. I informed the College Network rep. that I and the other testers did voice complaints about the conditions. They became rude and unhelpful. I'm discouraged now; I'm paying out money to a Credit Union in Florida, the company I guess they sold my loan to, instead of the College Network for nothing. Times are hard enough. This company needs to be stopped and I want to use the loan for adequate education not this disgrace to the nursing profession!

I signed up for College Network after having a long talk with the representative. However, I tried cancelling it several times, but at all times, they replied that I can't cancel. Also, I opted to finance my testing fees without knowing that it would take 6 weeks for each check to get to me.

I have taken one exam which was pointless since I didn't learn anything new. I haven't touched it in over a year and I haven't been on the website at all. I am still paying for services that I will never see or use.

Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it! I wish someone would have warned me about the lies College Networks tells. Months later, I have stopped making payments and my credit has taken a nose dive for the sum of $9,000. I received a call today from a 936-681-9090 and the guys stated they will be garnishing my income tax return? Can they do this?

I had a gentleman come to my home after I expressed interest in obtaining my R.N, he never told me I had 3 days to cancel, never told me the school wasn't affiliated with an actual college or anything. I have never taken one test, read one module, or anything but they still expect me to pay 8,000 dollars for something I no longer wish to do. I lost my job 1 month after I signed the contract and they told me I could hold off payments until I was back on my feet. Well, when I was ready to take a test, they told me I had to come up with the extra 600.00. I missed when I was out of work on top of the 234.00 monthly before I was allowed to take any tests.

There was no way I could do this having just gotten back on my feet. So, I have gotten nothing out of this program. I warn everyone, please do not sign anything with this company. They will ruin your life! I am now in collection for over 8,000 dollars with no way out. I may have to declare bankruptcy.

This is a huge scam. I was almost finished with LPN school and had a little one about to turn 1 and I was interested in completing schooling for RN and heard the pitch about the College Network and they came out gave this huge speech about how they'll help you 100% at any time and will make sure you pass your course. Yeah, what a joke! No one is ever available and I wanted to cancel and I was told 90 days and of course it was the 3 days period you had to cancel. Now I am indebted for something I will never use! Big, big waste of money!

I signed up with The College Network to get my RN. I signed the paperwork and the representative with my $200 check and I have not seen one book from The College Network. Now I have an attorney contacting me for payment for services that were never rendered. I do understand that he represents the Credit Union that financed the classes, but somehow TCN needs to refund me so I can pay the Credit Union. I feel scammed and now I have to make payments on a service that I never received.

A College Network representative had convinced me to sign up with them and told me I can cancel in 90 days if I didn't like it. I was trying to cancel it in less than 5 days and they had told me I couldn't because I only had 3 days to cancel and not 90! I was so frustrated, I cried because I didn't want to deal with them! They had told me a lot of things that's not accurate. I stopped paying them and they have already sent this to debt collector agencies. It's heartbreaking how one thing can ruin my credit. They're not a school, they're only a book publishing company. Now I'm facing debt because of them. But I feel like it's not worth paying for something you are not using. I'm an RN now and it's not because of College Network. They're a fraud.

After much thought, I decided to use the College Network to get my ASN RN, unfortunately, I didn't do my homework on them first. I met with a rep at Starbucks a few blocks from my home. I had my grandchildren with me, 3 and 5 months so I was a little distracted, however, I reiterated over and over that I had no interest in a BS, only the AS, as time was important to me because I wanted to be done and out of school before I turned 60. Once he was finished, I looked things over and signed for my pre-reqs.

I had forgotten my checkbook so he followed me to my home. I got the check and ran it outside to him and also gave him one for monthly withdrawal. Once I got back in my home, I showed got my paperwork out and began going over it and realized he wrote it for the BSN. In a matter of minutes, I was on the phone calling him. I told him I absolutely did not want the BSN and he knew it. He told me we could meet next day but I was leaving for Ohio that evening (he was also aware of that) since I couldn't meet him the next day. He promised to hold the contract and rewrite it for an ASN when I came back. I told him to cancel, not hold it and we would rewrite it. He stated he would do that.

While in Ohio, I started getting calls from someone from the TCN, which I thought was about rewriting the contract. I called her back and left a message asking her to please not call me, I would contact her when I returned. The day before I left, I realized they had withdrawn the down payment money from my bank. I called as soon as I got home and found out they had continued with the contract.

I called TCN and was told it was already too late to cancel the first time I had called the rep because the contract had been sent in. I have phone records that show I called him within an hour after I met him and now I am being harassed by a collection agency who is also calling my daughters and my husband, who have nothing to do with this. I believe they don't meet at homes to prevent the 3 day cancel period, but I would take a polygraph to prove I am not the liar here. None of this would have happened and I would be close to having my RN if this company would not be scamming and lying.

They took a loan with community federal, and are now expecting me to pay for it. I spoke with them 3 years ago, called back within days and stated I could not do it at that time due to a health problem. I have never heard from them again until recently. Stating I owe them $6000.

I was mislead and coerced by a program advisor, Josh J., into signing a contract with The College Network. A few friends and I signed up for the LVN to BSN program. After not receiving any materials and pointless phone calls, II gave up. I have been paying $153 now for 43 months. Psychological and physical stress due to financial loss.

I was looking online to pursue my career from LPN to get my BSN. Well, I put my info unto their website and the next day, I had someone contact me, this was last year in August. Well, I met up with this rep out of Jacksonville and gave me info about the school and such. They know how to sell their school. The next thing I knew I was giving 200 dollars. Well the rep. told me, I had 90 days if I wanted to cancel.

When the fourth day came around, I called to cancel and the lady said it was too late I only had 3 days. I told her that's not what I was told, I was told 90 days and then she got very rude so hung up. Like everyone else, I'm paying about $9000.00, left now to them, when I'm not even using anything on the website. I have not taken a test, that took almost 2 weeks to even come to my house. Now that it's a year later and I don't want to mess my credit up but I'm going to stop payments, it's a very expensive school.

First, I wasted time and money just as the others reported. I was told by a representative that meet me at a coffee shop that I would receive one modular at a time but only after I called to request a modular. Not true! I received all within two shipments and they expired after a certain period of time. It is said you can move at your own pace. Once again not true. You're dropped from their program after five years then you have to pay again for more study guides. Okay, so now the cost of each test is outrageous! Not to mention the cost of enrolling for University of New York and then the clinical costs.

Also, beware some states do not accept your classes and if you don't finish program, none of your classes transfer to other universities. And lastly, the University of New York is having problems setting up clinical as there isn't enough space. I have two friends that had to wait nine months before they got into the program. I do not recommend College Network. Actually it is cheaper to just enroll at the college of your choosing. Now College Network will try to say all they provide is the learning materials but can't you get that at your college bookstore? Can't you clip out of some classes for as little as $50? This program needs to stop telling people what they want to hear and say what it is..... too expensive! After all, it is salesmen that aren't trained in the medical field that need that sale to line their pockets. I would love a class action law suit against the company.

I was misled and told that The College Network was affiliated with Excelsior college when in fact Excelsior will tell you that they are misleading and predatory. They are a glorified publishing company that cannot not help you with any detail or aspect of obtaining your degree. They told me they'd help me obtain transcripts from my old colleges and get them transferred over to Excelsior when in fact they couldn't.

Their books have numerous typos and are written by advanced practice clinicians, unable to be comprehended by nurses. I not only had to pay them approx. between $500-$700 a book, the books have more info then needed and don't mirror the actual tests at all. You can get books that are written by nurses and doctors for nurses from regular bookstores for $50 a piece. College Network mass prints manuals that do not compare to the books. I was paying for help and got none. The people answering the phones, the ones you expect to help you, cannot. They are not more educated or as equally educated as the people (nurses) calling. They can't help, don't help, and do not know how to help you. They are a waste of money and time.

They will not let anyone buy out of their contract. I was told I bought the product and cannot return it even after the additional 350 clinical hours required by the state of GA to obtain my RN. Lord only knows how much that will cost me! They are very rude and always pass the buck onto someone else. Do not deal with this company.

I am a LPN who was very interested in getting my RN. After looking into some places online I decided on the College Network for many reasons, one of which I thought was because I did not have time to go and set in a classroom 3-4 times per week. I contacted them and they sent their "advisor" Joe out to my house. He was an excellent salesman and gave me a great sales pitch. He explained to me that they have a " no fail policy " with there tests, meaning if I fail a test two times they will sent a tutor out to my house and they will help me to study for the test. Now I am not one to throw my money around foolishly but I signed the contract and he promised me that my "modules" which he explained to me were "all the meat and none of the fat from all those wasted hours of classroom setting" would be on there way to be in the next couple of days. I gave him a voided check and he left my house.

Now true to his word the modules came and I was very excited, and I started studying that very day that I received the modules. I took my first test a couple of months later on World Religions and passed with a D-. I was shattered. The testing is an absolute nightmare. First of all, I have to drive almost 250 miles to take a test (none of this was explained to me). What I study for in the modules and what I actually test on is two entirely different worlds. Now I am not stupid. I passed LPN school with a GPA of 3.98 and was " Student of the Year" so for me to get a D- was absolutely unacceptable to me.

I was very disheartened and began to study in earnest for my next test, Principles of Public Speaking, I passed the written portion of this test, but did not pass the oral and when I contacted The College Network to see if I could just retest on the oral they stated to me that I would have to retest on the whole test. Again I protested stating that I had already passed the written portion and I saw no reason to retest on something that I had previously passed. Their reasoning to me was that this was a two- part test and you needed to pass both parts to be considered valid. I did not pass this test and no tutor was sent to my house as I was promised by my " advisor" when he signed me up and took my money and monthly payments of $136.

I have taken six tests that The College Network has sent me their modules on. What I study for and what I test for are bipolar opposites. The College Network is nothing but a scam! Three of the tests I have completely failed and the other three I have passed with D's to which I am ashamed to admit. I am now looking to go back to " that classroom" that I should have gone to in the first place and after some checking on my part 50 % of the classes are online. The College Network is a joke, a scam and I would be glad to be a part of a mass lawsuit to sue them to try and recover my money that they so gladly stole from me!

At the time, I was a single parent of three children. I was struggling with finances and was determined to do something to better myself. A man came by where I worked and was telling us all about how easy it was to upgrade at our own pace at home, continue to work full-time and it would be affordable. I did not understand that, I only had three days to change my mind. I begin studying and went to take first test, it was nothing like what I was given to study. I was so down and out.

I had applied for the upgrade program at a local college and found out I was excepted. I then called College Network and tried to cancel my contract. They were very rude and informed me I could not do this. I have not payed them anything and they continue to call and harass me, threatening to garnish my wages. This has been going on for two years. If anyone knows anything that can be done, please tell me. I can not afford to pay something I did not even use or suggest to my worst enemy.

Misguided information and representative lied about product.

In October 2009, a rep from CNW came out to my house and was very convincing. This program was so easy and I could be become an RN with in a year. Well, I signed all of the paperwork and thought it was a great idea that I could study at home, and still work full time at the age of 53. He said, "You're not too old. I sold the program to a 61 year old woman." He also told me that I could study for 16 weeks and be ready to take the first exam, which was anatomy and physiology. I did study every day for 2-3 hours, took the test in February and got a D, which cost me $345. Now, I had to wait 3months before I could take the test again and pay another $345. I do not want to go any further with this; it costs way too much and the materials or the modules have different info than the test questions. I want my $6200. back By the way, I called TCN. They said A and P takes a good year to study; I am mad; they are a rip off publishing company. I am not going to pay for something that is not legitimate. Please tell me what to do.

I was interested in obtaining my BSN. I work full time so I thought The College Network was a wonderful opportunity for me to do this and still continue to work. The representative came to my house and went through the whole sales pitch. I specifically asked questions about getting a refund if need be because I heard someone else had a problem with that. More than once he said, "No problem, you can do that." So I enrolled, mainly based on that. I was given American History on the spot as the first class. That module was so confusing! I asked a history teacher to help me with the info. After spending about 4 mos studying the module info as well as internet info and study guides, I paid the money for the CLEP exam and took the test. I was disgusted on how much info was on the test that the module never even touched on! I had also heard this complaint from other people.

I failed that exam. Later, I was told I didn't even need American History! I spoke to the Academic counselor who said that American History is a tough module and suggested I try Business Law which is easier. I studied even harder for this test and the same thing happened-- info on the test that wasn't even addressed in the module. I failed that one even worse than American History. I have always been a 4.0 student so obviously there is something wrong somewhere. I decided to disenroll from the College Network and take on campus courses. Lo and behold, I can't get my money back. I was told that I can get a refund on Regis University classes which I didn't even pay for yet but not The College Network.

I specifically asked about this prior to enrollment and was directly lied to. I called the initial representative and he completely denied saying that I could get a refund. He could do nothing because it's up to The College Network as to what their rules are. I thought he was The College Network? So, here I am, out about $3000 because I will not waste any more of my precious time studying for any of these apparently worthless modules. I was also told I was supposed to get a refund check for classes I didn't need after reviewing my transcripts. It was supposedly mailed out over a month ago. I know postal mail is slow, but that slow? I'm sure there is something legally binding in all of this but my Business Law class surely didn't teach me it. Maybe that's the plan?

The College Network is continuously drafting funds out of my bank account, and I have never utilized the services and it's been 4 years. Now I have overdraft fees, bill on my credit, and undue stress.

I sign up for a distance program with the College Network. Myles ** came to my house and talk to me about the program. He did not tell me that I cannot cancel if I want to. Now, I want to stop the program and they're telling me that I cannot even if I want that, I still have to pay the amount in student loan even if I don't finish the program.

I am and LPN (for 20 years), trying to work on graduating with my RN degree. I had taken all of my prerequisite classes for the Associates Degree in Nursing. But due to the high numbers of students (that are enrolled in the local Junior College), I was placed on a waiting list for the LPN to RN transition course. To my dismay, I went looking online to take some of Nursing Classes (since I had completed several on-line classes with the college that I was enrolled with I thought that they might transfer).

The next day and for the next 2 months I had The College Network contact me on almost a daily bases to set up a meeting with a counselor. Finally, after around the 50th call, I set up the meeting. The counselor's associate took down my information and told me she would be at my house within 30 minutes of the time of appointment. Well, the day and time of the appointment came, and 15 minutes after the appointment time, the counselor called and said she was going to be 15-20 minutes late. (If I only knew then what I know now, I would have canceled all together). So the counselor shows up finally, and promised me if I sign up for the program and have problems with the study material or if I don't think the program is working for me I can cancel at anytime. Along with telling me that the state I live in accepts this program and will allow me to take my RN boards.

So after receiving her word, that if the Junior College that I was enrolled in happened to find me a spot, I would be able to cancel my contract. I decided to take a chance and enrolled in a Sociology Class. However, before she was even out of my town, after opening the textbook (which says sample pack only). I realized I had already taken the course and that it was on my transcripts. So I called her to say that I had the wrong book. Her statement was what do you want me to send you, and my answer was American History I. At that time, I had asked her if I needed to send the first book back and her answer was just keep it since it was a sample pack anyway.

Two weeks later, I received the American History I course (which also had the stamp of "Sample Pack Only"), upon review of material, I noticed several discrepancies with the facts of the United States History. This was along with the fact that the material was very hard to comprehend as to what you where actually suppose to know to pass the CLEP Exam. So needless to say, after about two weeks, I started getting very frustrated and called TCN. Their answer to the problem was History is a very hard to do for the first course. Since I only need the Computer (basic) class and Algebra, they will send the Computer class to me.

So again I waited for the next class, and lo behold what arrives, another "sample pack" for the computer class. Now, I am not saying I am a computer wizard or anything but, some of the materials in that "sample pack" didn't add up to me.

Well around this time, I had received a call from the Junior College saying that I was admitted into the Nursing Program come fall of 2010 (which was only 9 months away). So, I did what anyone else would do, I called "The College Network" to cancel my contract and got told that I had signed a contract with them and I was responsible to pay the loan, which is just under $200.00 a month for 5 years.Furthermore, since I can't afford to pay "The College Network" tuition and the Junior College. I have had to withdrawal from the Junior College, since I can't take out a student loan while having the tuition on record for The College Network and their sample packs (in which I have saved all 3 copies).

In the end I wish I would have thought about an old saying my Grandmother (who was an immigrant from Germany during Hitler's reign) would say, "If it seems to be to good to believe, then it probably is!" My Question Is: Is there anything I can do to reverse this problem area. In which I find myself in, which was cause by my belief that schools are out to help you obtain your educational goals not just sucker you into false hope of obtaining them?

I filled out a request for information for the LVN-RN bridge programs. The College Network returned my request within the hour and set up an appointment for the following Tuesday in the city where I live. I met with the advisers and they went through the program step by step. I signed up and left with my first module. Soon thereafter, the rest of my modules arrived.

Actually I was a little overwhelmed and had thoughts of "what have I got myself into"? Yet I took each module out and scheduled a test date, studied towards that date (just like I would have to do if I was in a traditional class), then I would study every day for two hours. I took the first test and passed! That gave me fuel to continue on.

So I repeated the same process for a total of 14 tests which I finished in 11 months. With the College Network, it afforded me the opportunity to further my education without quitting work which I could not afford to do. I do not know how much it would have cost me to go to a traditional Nursing Program. I do know going to a traditional Nursing Program would have taken me much longer to complete my education. The College Network did everything they said they would do; if I needed support they were just a phone call away.

So many times we find it easier to blame others for "our" own failures. We can find all the excuses to cover up for what we didn't do correctly. Study! The modules have all the information you need to pass the exams. But we have to read the chapters, and truly answer the questions.

I am using them again to acquire my BSN. I have referred several friends to them and they are actively taking their tests to achieve their RN degrees.

Like all the complaints and stories, all sounds like mine. I'm frustrated that their stories about their contract policy changes from the verbal discussion of their sales representative. Yes, I too owe $8600.00 for nothing. Tried and Tried, forked out and lost money for nothing done. If there is a class action lawsuit, I would love to be part of it, and get them off from ruining my credit, too.

I called for information, then someone came to my home. They stated that it was a program I could cancel anytime. I was an LPN looking to obtain my BSN. I was sent a box of books, and I was told I had six years to complete. There was absolutely no one available by phone for guidance, except for billing. I was never told that along with a monthly payment of $150.00, I would also be responsible for paying for every exam as well as proctor fees to my local university. It was a big waste of money!

As a result I have paid out over $4000.00. I am still in collection for an additional $1000.00. I can't afford to start a new program and as I am a single parent now, I have to struggle to pay for my children's college tuition! This company is a fraud! They steal your money and have inexperienced sales people come to your door and you get absolutely nothing for your money! I hope someone puts them out of business. It was a hardship I could not really afford. I could have attended a reputable institution and had my degree by now!

I signed with College Network and have discovered that they are very rude and have no problem calling their consumers stupid. I took my first test in Sociology and failed it.The person administering the test at the university asked to see what I studied and proceeded to tell me not to use their learning material as it was not current for the test. When I called the advisor, he told me I did not read it right. I asked if I could get the remainder of my modules since I have paid for them. I was informed that it was impossible and I can look at them online.

If I pay for something, I should be able to get the books at my request, not when they want to send them. I feel this is one of the biggest rip-offs ever seen. I would have gone straight to Excessior if I had any idea that they did not support the College Network program and the fact that it will now cost me double the money to get my degree. Be wise. Stay away from the College Network.

In January 2009, three friends of mine and I went to the Glendale, CA to an orientation about the College Network. During this orientation, the representative Brian **, a program advisor, had us fill out paperwork to sign up for the program. We were all LVN students getting ready to graduate pursuing our RN. My friends and I were told that if at anytime we decided that this was not the program for us, we would be able to cancel at anytime. We signed up and received our first module.

In April 2009, due to not passing the NCLEX exam, I decided to postpone school. I passed my NCLEX in January 2010. At this point, I hadn't even cracked a book open and I called The College Network to cancel the program. I was told that I could not cancel and I was responsible for the remainder of the loan. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told it was no use, that I was responsible for the remainder of the loan. So now I'm stuck paying $260.00 a month for something I didn't even use. I called in May 2009 to see if I could get my payment deferred, however, I was told they do not do deferments and that I needed to speak to someone in the billing department. However, the billing rep was conveniently unavailable and I never received a returned phone call like I was told. I'm frustrated. Now, I'm stuck paying for a loan that I will never use. I'm going back to a community college. What do I do with that scam of a school? I can no longer continue to pay this school. I'm in an economic crisis, I will be closing my account at the bank. I can no longer pay.

I am a Licensed Vocational Nurse and was interested in the College Network because I was able to do the program online and still work at the same time. So I set up an appointment to meet with a representative in my area. He told me about the whole program, how it worked, how much it costs, how easy it is, and that I had 90 days, worry free, to try it out and then see for myself.

So he had me sign a paper that was for the 90-day trail period and told me that I would be signing another paper later when I was ready to join the program for sure. So I got the books and started the program only to receive a letter two weeks later that I didn't get in the program because of my past GPA in previous classes. So I assumed I was dropped from the program. Now, I'm receiving calls everyday from them asking for $17,000. I explained what happened and nobody listens, they pass me on to the next person. Don't work with these scam artists.

On 09-2008, I was talking to my friend about how I wanted to go to school to complete my RN. He told me about this lady, Linda ** who works as College Network associate. I called her. The next day, she was in my apartment with these sweet stories about doing my LPN TO RN in less than 18 months. We talked and she told me I could cancel in 3 months. In less than a week, I called her again to cancel. At first, she was nice until when I told her that I was calling to cancel from that program. She gave me a fake phone number. I tried to call her back. She never returned my calls. I got a number from the internet which I called.

I tried to talk to people in that office who told me that I can't cancel. In May of 2009, I was summoned to go to court. I tried to fight in court about that money. They went ahead and started garnising my wages. Now, I am stuck with $10,000 to pay for something I never used. I am looking forward to getting people who we can join together and go to the court and sue this organization and get this bad seed off the street, and get our lives back. We can join together and fight this organization.

The College Network is a scam. I am a registered nurse trying to get a Bachelor's degree in nursing. I called a representative from TCN and they immediately came out the next day. I signed up for the program thinking it sounded like a great program, but later that day I decided maybe not considering my finances . The Representative informed me I had 90 days to cancel. I called the next week and was informed that I had only 3 days to cancel, and by now it was too late. Soon I was delivered this huge box of books to read. It was overwhelming! Here, 3years later I still haven't read those books. I've never heard anything from TCN asking how I was coming along with the course.

They really are not concerned if you take the courses or not, they just collect monthly payments from your account. Recently I get an email saying their courses are improved. I look it up and it's the same as the books, overwhelming! A friend of mine also signed up for the program and is also an unsatisfied customer. She is finishing the BSN with another online college this year. These courses your signing up for is not even online. This college charges me monthly for classes I'm not taking. This program is robbing students blind. I have 3 people who signed up when I did and no one has even started the program. We've all asked for refunds and had the doors shut in our faces.

I paid $2700 to College Net for LVN to BSN (Nursing) from Indiana State University. I filled up the application. Indiana State University rejected my application. I requested to refund my fee. But College Network refused to do. Their sales representatives only think about their commission. There are all too many people suffering from this fraud College Network. Be careful of College Network.

A reprehensive from The College Network came to my college, LBCC and gave a convincing speech about their courses. They offer to complete a Bachelor's degree in Registered Nurses. Their goal was to target LVN's. I then met up with a representative from the company (which I may add was a very persuasive sale person and that was it) to discuss future career goals. Clyde pretty much gave a sales pitch and ranted on about how if he did not meet any sales. He will be forced out of a job and what not. He explained that the program could be completed at your own pace and would consist of studying modules and testing out on certain subjects.

Once you have completed these modules, you could apply for admission to Indiana State. A transcript from my current college was to be submitted to evaluate what courses I needed, however they were unable to obtain mine and under the contract were still taking money from my bank account. What I am upset about is the fact that he failed to inform me that The College Network was merely a publishing company and not a school. Clyde was in no way affiliated with the school. I was coerced to sign up for modules that cost approximately $5,000.

The company only gives you three days to terminate the contract, yet in those three days, I did not get a proper feel for the school. This time period is not enough to make a decision. They do not start billing you until two months afterwards too. I do not even know if there are any graduates from this program. I am left to pay this loan from which I am not benefiting. I am paying so that I will not be in collections. The best thing would have someone investigate their practices and just shut them down altogether.

I feel they are being unethical in how consumers are treated. They only care about you and are nice when they first meet you because they want you to sign that contract that there is absolutely no way to get out of. I am left to pay a $5,000 dollar loan. I have many other loans and debt in which I am glad to pay for since I have benefited from their use. I get sad to see that my hard earned money is being deducted from my account when I could use the extra $122 a month to pay down other expenses.

I ordered the LPN-BSN module. So far, I have no complaints. The representative had informed me of everything that I see people complaining about here. They are not a college, you do have to pay exam fees as well as pay for your module books. But she also told me, if you fail a class twice, you will be assigned a tutor for free. I have yet to have to use a tutor, but it's comfort to know it's there. When I think of the number of classes I'm taking, how well it fits into my schedule (working full-time, head of household), it's been well worth it for me. I study when I want, I take time off when I want, and I'm not sitting in a class for hours on end. And yes, it's true, that some classes, I needed to either purchase extra books, or spend a lot of time online looking things up to better understand them.

But I figured this would be done in a college classroom setting as well. I don't see the problem for the need of extra resources to study a subject. I feel like I was very well informed by my representative, appreciated that they come to your home, and I've called the support group many times for different questions and have always answered completely. This kind of program take a lot of self discipline. You need to read, study, read more, study more, research different avenues for further understanding. No one is going to sit there and give you the answers.

I called the College Network and explained that I was misinformed by the representative that came to my house about the total cost of the program. He failed to inform me that it was going to cost me upwards of 4500 dollars on top of the already 4400 dollars to College Network. I am very unhappy with this. I called the credit union and explained this to them and they connected me to someone at the college network who said they would have to connect me to someone else that would be able to help me.

Well, they did not help me. All they wanted to do is tell me that I had the three days to cancel and that I have to pay. She also told me that i could transfer this to someone else or use it later to get my BSN, but I still had to pay. I told her that I paid 200 dollars up front for who knows what and the first payment came out of my account yesterday and I did not have a problem with that.

I told her that I would mail the module back to them and call it even. I have not done anything else or used anything else. She still insisted that I had to pay. This is ridiculous. Why can't they just cancel this if I have not taken any tests or anything or used any of their money? And they already have a payment.

They are bogus. Also, on top of everything, my representative who came to talk with me has since left the company and he was going to give me a number to someone else who might be able to help and he has not done this either.

I want out and I will inform everyone I know who mentions signing up with College Network not to do it because it is a rip off. All they want are people's hard earned money and they do not care about their customers. I think a class action suit would be wonderful. I am also going to report them to the BBB. Hopefully, someone will do something about these people because they are scam artists taking a lot of honest people for a lot of money, me included.

I signed up for the college network to further my education in nursing. They came into my facility and showed us the books they supply to take the examines needed. I arranged to buy the books and they would take a total amount of $107 amount out of my checking account. My director of nursing meanwhile received a grant for money to help 10 nurses in our facility to finish their education.

So she set up a contract with college network that the grant would pay the college network in four payments to supply the nurses with the books needed. They received payments for me yet continued to take money out of my checking account. It was explained to me even though my loan was paid I had to wait for the fourth payment to be received before I could be reimbursed for the money they continued to take out of my checking account which amounts to over $2,000. I have been in contact with the company and I get the comment that they will call me back. The fourth payment was paid in January and now they keep my money in their accounts.

I, too, like all the other complainants became a victim of the college network. I was referred to the college network by a friend while looking for a way to pursue the RN program as LVN. I called a representative whose name is Barbara. She came to my house and had a wonderful say as to how this has been working for working single mothers, and I would be done in three years. She told me that I should use no other book but the ones I got from the company. Honestly, those books were very confusing for me. When I asked her if I could stop the program if it was not working for me, she told me yes, I could stop at any time. However, after about 2 months, when I realized this was not the way for me, I was told for the first time very rudely that I had only 3 days to cancel and was responsible to keep making the payments.

I closed my account since they were still taking money from my bank even when I asked them not to. They have now sold the debt to a collector agency and I am being sued for $10,000, and my wages threatened to be garnished. This company is a fluke taking advantage of our situation, and it's very unfair for us to pay for something that was sold to us under misrepresentation.

Most expensive mistake I've ever made. Like many others, I feel taken advantaged of and scammed. I consider myself a well educated individual, but somehow I missed the part about TCN being only a publisher. I thought it was a great alternative to traditional school as I live in a fairly rural area, and had not been able to get the prerequisite classes I needed to continue my nursing education. Five others at my work had already signed up and had taken exams and passed so how bad could it be?

Here we are, 18 months later and we've all pretty much given up working with TCN any longer. I remember the representative saying I could recruit 4 or 5 other individuals and I could get my education paid for. If only I could be as deceitful, I would have done this long ago. Now here I am, no further in my education than I was 18 months ago, and $7000 in the hole. Hey, my bills can bounce, but as long as TCN is paid for each month, great!

I am not understanding all these complaints about The College Network. I signed up last Aug. and have had no problems what so ever. I think all of you are blaming the wrong person. Instead of blaming TCN you should be blaming yourselves. You are all grown adults, how do you sign something with out reading fine print etc. Or signing something during a 15 minute break. This is an amazing program. I work full time and I am doing my LPN to RN. All of you should be ashamed of yourselves for blaming this business. I think you're all just sue happy. Everyone wants an easy way to get money.

I have never blogged liked this before but I couldn't help myself. Unreal. Stop complaining about losing your house and job, everyone is in tough times. Its not TCN's fought--its the economy. And they tell you right from the start that they are not a college, it's not a normal student loan, they finance you. Grow up!

Take responsibility for your own wrong doing. Learn how to be grown ups and reading a contract before you sign it!

I was reading all of you who were "scammed" by The College Network. Honestly, no offence, but it really seems like you just didn't understand what you were getting into. TCN is not a college, they are a publishing company who works with colleges to get you the materials you need to complete to enroll in the college of that particular program. I am currently working toward by BS in nursing, and have taken and passed one test already. Once I have completed my self-paced classes, then I will enroll in Indiana State to complete my nursing classes.

To those who have talked about this father and son team, I think they are a scam. I had two different advisors to my house and both stated very clearly that I had only 3 days to back out. And to the person who stated that Excelsior College had no affiliation with TCN, that is also not true. I had to receive a "permission to test" letter from them, which I did, in order to take my test. In every post I read it was pretty clear that the people did not completely understand what TCN is. I understand some of you have had a bad experience, but TCN is legitimate and it would be nice if you stopped bad mouthing a company just because you're upset because you didn't know what you were doing.

This company that claims to be a college is ripping everyone off with their book publishing company. I pay $157 a month for the next 5 years to a company that has nothing to do with being a college. They claim that you have to have these classes that they provide in order to go into the excel program when really the tests are provided by colleges around with no college network required. This has caused me to economically struggle everyday with trying to pay for this and for my other college loans. I have moved back home with my parents until all of this is paid off and I would be more than happy to do whatever I have to do to stop these payments or even better, get my money back!

I recently finished LPN school and was looking to get my BSN. When I Googled programs, I was directed to The College Network website. I filled out the more information sheet, and few days later, set appointment for someone to come meet with me. The person who came to meet with me (who I thought was from ISU) made the program seem so perfect for what I wanted. That wasn't the case. First of all, they are not affiliated with Indiana State University, but the person I met with didn't explain that and made me believe he was. They are not even a college, they are a publishing company! Their so-called learning modules are not these well put together textbooks that I thought they would be either.

They are three ring binders with a Xeroxed copied textbook, and then they charge thousands of dollars for it ($11,000 to be exact). The guy also promised it would also come with this incredible online program that would help me study with practice questions and tests, but that was lie also. It's the three ringed binder just on the Internet. I must also add the so-called learning module is hard to understand, filled with mistakes, and you need to buy extra books to help you understand the material! I also had to pay a $200 deposit that I have no idea why. I also had to take out a loan, he said, and he made me believe it was like a school loan (one I can pay after I was finished), but that wasn't correct. He also said I could cancel anytime I wanted if I wasn't happy with the modules, but guess what, you can't. They hung up on me when I said I wanted to cancel!

So now I have to pay $245 a month. If I had known that, I wouldn't have signed up for it due to the fact that I work part time and that is barely enough to cover bills. The guy knew I didn't work a lot or make a lot of money, but he just wanted his commission. Now, I'm behind on bills and looking for a real college, stuck with these learning modules that I will never use. Please do not use The College Network to get your degree. They will only make your life miserable and take your money. If you type it in Google, The College Network complaints, there are tons and will scare anyone with half a brain to not do business with them. If I can stop one person from signing up with them, it would make me feel a little bit better about this mess.

Mr. B was the recruiter that came to my house to present the information about The College Network. I informed him that I would also take classes locally, he responded that many of the students does both. I signed papers agreeing to participate in the program I was given an approximate amount of the cost of the modules. I was told that classes that I take locally send in transcripts for the credits and the amount for that module would be deducted from the total.

A couple weeks later I had my guidance call with a guy named Josh or Nick on the Orange Team, he wanted to know what my plans and goals were, I told him the same as I had informed Mr. B, and that when I was informed over the phone that even though my intentions are to attend classes locally that I enrolled in the courses with this business and now I must pay for them, all though I may not use all courses with The College Network.

Well I receive harrassing calls if I may use that term 5-6 calls per a day on my cell and then call my job for me. I have informed the business I have no intentions of completing business with them because of the misleading information. I'm receiving threats of sending the loan to collections as a charge off and if nothing is paid my wages would be garnished. At the time that I enrolled in the program I was working to jobs, now its one, being a single parent. I had trust in this program to keep my job I must go back to school for my RN, I'm currently an LPN, and if I hadn't confided in the information Mr. B had given me I wouldn't have given other co-workers information about The College Network!

A representative came to my house and gave me his speech about how easy it was to do the modules, how all I had to do was schedule my exams and the money to do so would come from the money I was paying them. He was very misleading, did not explain that I would have to pay another $900 out of my pocket to apply to another college so that I could even begin to take my exams. I have yet to take a test and am paying $132 a month for something that I am not using. I called the main number and spoke to several people that did nothing to help me with breaking my contract. I was only told that I would have to pay for the courses regardless if I used them or not. I even explained that any other university would allow you to drop out and she simply stated, "well this isn't any university or college."

I'm a LVN, and continuing my nursing career to obtain my rn. As I met with the recruiter, at a local coffee shop. All I wanted was to try for one class and didn't like it I had 90 days to cancel, with no obligation to pay. Which is a down right lie from the college network. I'm very knowledgable w/ my money and I spend my money wisely. The college network, should be put out of business. They are scam!!

I've had my lpn liscense for at least 18 years so I saw the college network that said,I can get my exams and degree with them. Paul he put his self on a first name basis. He came to my home and told me since I have 148 credits I could get my bachelors degree I was very interested. He said we are seperate from excelsior college. Our modules will help you get our degree with only 30 more credits and we will take 99.

I was so happy about the program and elated. He also said ourmodules shows you exactly where to look for test answers. I stated to him my husband lost his job after 34 years L'm retired as per my doctor for exaustion and I guess just getting 30 cerdits woul not hurt me and I would get my degrr since I failed my college exam on a mishap. I shoul of han an A but instead I received a F. I put my answers in the wrong places on the grid, but I had an A. I also told him I teach Rn's when they come in and some resident on call.My dr said enough is enough so I ws seeing him for 12 years. I once had a nervous brakdown and went back to work.

After the next 12 years I became tired of teaching I was depressed and I was an lpn still. I had 40 patients nd 3 nurses aids most days. i put my all into my job. The new Rn's would leave after they learn all they could off of me. My Dr said enough is enough I had high blood pressure I had to take medication and still is. So I decided to enter the program he told me the modules came to 3.000 dollarrs but because yoou are getting social security you will probably be getting financial aid.

I put 100 dollars down like he asked. I was very excited, I signed on the 1st of the month. I gave him one of my rue modules i Just paid 2000 dollars for. While I worked I told him never really had time to read a lot, but now I'm retired this is good for me. I received some slips in the mail for 89 dollars amonth. I called the school and asked for financial aid the college network said we do not have financial aid our college is no longer in service but I can try Indiana college.

THe college network told me the books will still have to be paid for in cash. I told them I just ordered books from rue nursing nodules they said they wer sorry but I should have read the contract I signed there is no refund. I know now I caught in a game and can't get out . The school made their on day for direct payment from my checking even though I told them please take the 89 dollars on the 24 or th end of the month when I get my social security direct deposit I should have been finished paying.

The school decided to take the money out every 20th so now I'm on a fixed income at this time. MY rent has to be paid all my bills, so at this time I have no money in the bank the check bounce they take 31 dollars for bounced check my bank takes 35 and by the time my check comes I'm in the negative. after 3 years this is still going on. I have asked numerous times and they continue to do this. They made my credit so bad I could not purchase a home only because of them.

I'm so miserable its awful. They just sent me another warning please help me I,m going to stop direct payments or just take my money from the bank or changebanks. Out of all this time 4 years I think i've paid 1200 dollars. How can a company tell me whwn to pay on a day of the month while I'm getting a fixed income on their time no matter if money will be in the account or not its such a BIG GAME IVE BEEN TAKEN HELP.

I was so happy to read I was not alone in my dealings with The College Network. I am and LPN and was looking at LPN to RN programs. Other organizations I talked with told me it was something I would not be able to do, living on an island in Alaska. Then I received "misleading " information from TCN, who made it sound like a piece of cake and I would have no problem what so ever, in completeing their course. I got started and soon after had events in my life happen and found I didn't want to complete the program. I jumped through the same hoops as the rest of you that have written and finally went to a lawyer to have him go over the contract, looking for loopholes to get me out of having to pay for something I didn't want to do. He told me I was stuck unless I wanted to go to Indiana and find some kind of lawyer there to arbitrate the case and I may still not win. I am by no means rich and it kills me to have to lose $8,000. It would be more like $25,000 if I enroll with Excelsior In NY. I have yet to talk with ONE person that has had a good experience or actually graduated from TCN. PLEASE!!! Is their any one out there to help us?!?!?!

In April 05 I contacted The College Network for information on obtaining my RN through there program. I have been an LPN for more than 25years. I called and met with a Mr. Joe K.. The pitch I received by Mr. K. made no mention that they had no affiliation with Excelsior College. I was lead to believe this program would be where I received my RN. What I did receive was a"student loan" for very poor quality 3-ring binders that I have now paid over five thousand dollars for at 12% interest.

My ability to pay this has been hampered due to the fact off a recent bankruptcy (my husbands business closed) Now I am being harassed at work (Calls from A Texas Collection agency lockhadt, Morris And Montgomery) even claiming to be the Mass. board of Nursing, claiming I'm under review. They have informed me "student loans" are not dischargeable with bankruptcy. I wasn't even aware these cheap poorly written 3 ring binders were a student loan.

All of this my be problematic when I renew my nursing license in 2010, as outstanding student loans may hinder my ability to renew my license. This seems ironic as all I wanted to do was continue my education. I feel like this company is so deceptive and totally misrepresented what they were during with the slick sales pitch. I hope something can be done for myself and anyone else unlucky enough to have been guilty of wanting to continue their education. I have suffered financially, and emotionally as a result of my experience with The College Network.

I have had a similar experience, I am an LVn who wants to pursue her RN, but was going to stay home with my children then work while completing my schooling. I signed up with the College Network 3 months prior to graduating my LVN course, I thought it seemed like a good idea at the time and was not told of any cancellation policy, I was only told that I had 3 days to cancel with no penalties. At the time I wasn't thinking about how to get out of it, so I didn't press for any further details. Their pre-req classes are not transferable to any local colleges and I am stuck paying 200 a month for something I have not used. I am contacting a lawyer regarding this, and hoping I can get out of this some how. I have a friend from my class that is in the same mess. IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT THE COLLEGE NETWORK, DONT DO IT!

I graduated from LPN school in August of 2008. I wanted to continue on the get my ASN in nursing, but I didn't want to wait the year that I had to at my current school. I had a friend sign up for the LPN-RN program through college network, it sounded like something I could do, so I called and met with a representative. At the time that I signed up I was told that I had 10 years to complete the program and that I could work at my own pace. I was never told that if you change your mind, or realize this isn't right for you, you could not cancel at anytime.

I have recieved one module and I haven't taken any tests, but they tell me I have to pay even if I don't complete the program. My friend that signed up was told the same thing. I don't understand how they can make you pay for something if you never recieve it. I only recieved one module which I am more than happy to pay for, but what about all the money going for my test fees and the other modules that I will never use.

They still debit my checking account every month because I don't want to stop it and have it make my credit look any worse than it already does. But I can't afford to keep paying for it. I had the oppurtunity to go back to my previous school to obtain my ASN, but because I had to pay for this program that I wasn't using, I didn't have the funds to pay for the one at my previous school. If I was able to pay for the program at my previous school then I would've had it completed by this Dec. of 2009.

This company has deceived myself and numerous others (just look at the web site for The College Network Complaints). It tells the whole story we all have the same story and no one will help us. This company needs to be shut down. Please is there anyone that can help. They have been taking money out of my checking account for 21/2 yrs now. I still owe them 2,000 more have received nothing but 6 binders of photo copied poorly put together books

In December of 2008, a representative came to my home and very well versed told be how to sign up to take courses on line to help me to go on with my bridging over to RN to BSN. He stated I would be enrolled in Regis University Rn_BSN. I thought I was in this college and when I completed the courses I enrolled in, I would then be able to do my clinicals at a site in my community. I enrolled in 6 courses and one in which was in question was to be taken off if my transcripts indicated completion. Well it did, they took it off and added two more courses with out my consent or knowledge. I receive a letter and called the finanacilly dept. I was told they couldn't do any thing about this, that i would have to call college net work, and when i did. they would only take one off even though I checked the box indicating not to add any more courses. I am not pleased with the attention I received. I was lied to and this is just a scam. Please if any one can help in this matter, i would greatly appreciate your input. I hope by reading this, if any one is thinking to sign up, don't.

I signed up with the college network in 2006 for home study course for my BSN in nursing, big mistake, according to the man who visited the home I wa s living at the time I was not qualified for the BSN, as I needed more credits. He told me I would be sent a form to get my credentials evaluated.I never received the form, however I was also told that the check I gave for $210.08 monthly will not be taken from my account untill after my credits were taken care of.My room mate at the time was qualified as she had done additional course in the US before so she was able to start right away. The money was taken fromn my account for 3 yrs every month, was never late untill i could not afforf to pay anymore.I paid that money for almost 4 yrs, never received more than one single computer boom, I tried on several occaison to stop the payment as I was paying for something that I never get the benefit of. I Send emails to the college network , spoke with different personell, cried my heart out as I realy would do well with that mone and all I was told is that I can still do the BSN through them. I graduated fron UOP in june of this year, The last time I called they told me that I can still do BSN in nursing with them"stupid".

The credit union company who Was taking the money from my account reported me to the credit Bureau, I received emails from them, the gentleman who called me was very nasty on the phone, I nwas stressed, I used my rent money to finish pay off the loan and close the account. so I paid over $6,000. 00 in school fee and never get one day lesson, Am poor, am not rich and just trying to help better my Education and this is what happen to me. I think they are scammers, and that there are a lot of Bernie Madoff out there still.I could use that money right now to npay off my bills and even pay off the balance of my rent that I still owe, as a one income family trying to survive in this recession, I just want everyone who read this to be careful and dont end up in th esame situation as I. Lots of Reputable online schools out there. The college network is surely not one avenue to pursue.

I am currently an LPN trying to further my education as a Registered Nurse. I did some research and came across information about the college network. I had two representatives come into my home and explain the program. They never informed me that the college network is actually just books and a learning tool. When I contacted the actual school that gives you the degree they explained they have nothing to do with the college network. Excelsior College (school) has their own program and their own books.

If the college network would have explained it correctly I would have never signed the contract. 4,000 for just books is a scam. Now I have a lawsuit against me because I could not get out of the contract. Why would they even set up a contract if they knew they were official.

Now I am stuck with a lawsuit and no college degree or enrollment into a college! I have requested several times to return the books I have never used and they refused to accept. They must know that they are thieves in order to force you into a contract you can't escape from. They are not a real college and they trick you into believing so.

I became a single mom 7 years ago when my husband passed away. I've been looking for away to advance my career and make a better life for my son and I, but instead have been taken advantage of. I am an LPN looking for my RN. The closest colleges are at least 120 miles round trip, which makes it hard having a little boy, working full time, and the closest family we have live over 6 hours away. I found an ad with TCN stating I could get my RN doing on line classes. I emailed TCN to have some information sent to me. Within a day someone had called and scheduled me an appointment with an advisor a day later.

I met with the advisor J. Faber. He made the program sound great. He told me that TCN is accredited, and approved by the board of nursing, and associated with the Excelsior College in NY, and would have no problems transferring credits. I was told that Excelsior worked with TCN to come up with these "modules" to help prepare you for the test without the extra expenses of books. I was also told I had to take 7 classes through TCN then I would proceed to phase 2 and that involved applying to Excelsior to do my clinical part. He spent 5 hours here and rewrote every piece of paper 3 different times!

I was told I had to apply for this student loan and had to finance everything or pay cash. I was told I could not pay for one class at a time. I signed a paper that I was told was the student loan application, which turns out to be a credit card company with 12% interest. He also added my bank account number after I signed the papers and wrote the check for $200.00 (I told him I do not want anything taken out of my account, I wanted a monthly statement).

After he left (on a Saturday), I called Monday morning to try and cancel and they did everything they could to try and convince me that thousands of people graduate every year from their program, and to wait for the 1st module to see what I thought. If I didn't like it I could cancel. (I received my 1st module 5 days later) After receiving my 1st module I still was worried and called them to cancel and they told me I can't, and that I had only 72 hours to cancel. So I thought I would try and make the best of it.

To top it off when I was ready to schedule my first test I called the TCN and they told me I have to call Excelsior. Called Excelsior and found out they are not associated in anyway! I was told I can test out of only 1 of the 7 classes until I applied with Excelsior! They also advised me to pay the $65.00 and take their practice test to see how well the modules are. I paid for the first one and there were tons of questions not even in the module. I don't know how I'm going to test out of this class if everything I studied is not on it! I also found out that if you fail you have to wait 180 days before you can test again! Again none of this was told to me, and I asked a lot of questions.

I also found out that not every state excepted the Excelsior LPN to RN program! I called the SD board of nursing and they stated they are going to revisit the requirements for the Excelsior program because there is question on the clinical portion not being long enough. Which means I would have to retake the RN program again! When I called TCN they tried to twisted everything I was saying to make what they did right.

They also told me as long as I don't move it shouldn't be a problem, since SD currently accepted it! I asked for my money back, and they stated I signed a contract and was stuck paying for it whether I finished or not. I told them I want my money back on the grounds I have been lied to, and misinformed, which they stated again I signed a contract.

I thought I was signing papers with a college and it turns out TCN's not a college! HELP! I was trying to better our lives and instead was misinformed, and taken advantage of, and its going to cost me $7,000! This has been very emotional, and physically stressful. I feel like I've failed. I realize I am an easy person to take advantage of, I tend to be to trusting. Your help is greatly appreciated. I don't know where to go from here.

I've been a contractor for College Success Network in the past for over a year doing Information Technology work for them at a very discounted rate and also volunteer work. My last invoice dated March 2009, for $120.00, is still not paid. S. Oizumi, the Executive Director, refuses to pay me for work agreed upon and completed. We also have a signed contract and work agreement. She promised to pay back in May, June, and July.

I, too, was taken in by The College Network. I signed up in a hurry because I was afraid my place of employment was going to cancel their 100% college reimbursement plan. TCN has no link to any college, yet they make it appear that way. I had to sign for a loan through their credit union and it had very high rates. I commented on that because normally credit unions have lower interest rates.

I paid off the loan immediately. I received about 20 modules of which 7 or 8 were returned because TCN miscalculated which modules I needed. The college I attend wrote a letter for me and TCN did reimburse me for those. It was like pulling teeth to get the refund, though.

Now, I would not use TCN again; I think they are underhanded in their dealings. HOWEVER, the study modules are excellent; TCN guarantees you will pass the CLEP or DANTES. I've taken about 10 now and have passed every one. Although I paid them off I can see how it would be a struggle. You can't purchase the modules as you need them - you get them all and are billed for them all right away. Bottom line: They are deceptive - beware!

After reading much of the comments about TCN, I feel that most of you signed up for something you were not dedicated to do. You have to be prepared to make time to do the work. It takes a great amt of discipline to do self directed study. My sales person was very honest with me. I have been doing okay so far with it.

The only thing I was disappointed about was that after agreeing to about $9,000.00 for my courses, they came back and said that my previous college was not accredited in NYS so I had to take four more classes at a total cost of $14,000. which seems like too much for me.

It is very difficult to come up with the monthly payments. That is because the job I am working did not give me as many hours as they had promised, in fact the hours are about 1/3 less than promised. These life situations happen, that is why, when you sign up for something you have to be dedicated and prepared for unforseeible circumstances. I cannot abide people, in any situation, that do not follow through with their promises, on either end of an agreement. The outcome remains to be seen as there is much more to this than I had anticipated, but I agreed to do and I will finish, someday.

I have been looking to further my career in nursing for a while but work full-time and wasn't able to take classes at my local college. So I looked online and found the college network. The next day after leaving my information on their website, I got a call and an appointment scheduled for someone to come to my house and present this to me. On the day of my appointment, father son duo Clyde and Tyler ** came to my house. Three hours later, Clyde states his office is right around the corner and he needs to finish some paperwork so his son (who is "training") pitched the courses to me. I was presented the paper work to sign. I was told that it was just to run a credit check and to get a price for what my classes were going to cost. The next thing I know I'm signing away $14,000 and writing a check for $200 for a reason that still to this day I have no idea what it was for. I was told I had 90 days to cancel if I changed my mind and that I will receive my course work some time in April. I signed the "contract" in March. I asked the son Tyler if I wanted to take classes at a local college if I can still do that and he said, "Yeah, I did the same thing."

I signed up for some classes and I just went there. Shortly after signing everything, his father came back and asked if I decided to go with the program, and the son replied back yes before I could. I was told that I was going to get a packet in the mail to sign for my loans and that I needed to get approved and that my information for online would be sent as well. I waited 3 weeks and didn't receive anything in the mail so I called the network and talked to their support team who helped me log online to my courses. I opened up the history one and started there. I began to notice typos, incorrect information, etc., and that the course work was overall confusing. I finished chapter 1 and the questions at the end of the chapter confused me more then reading it. I called TCN a few days after and asked if I could take the harder classes at a local college, and they said, "Yes, we can credit you for those classes." I even asked how would I go about doing that if I have to fax over my transcripts, and the lady said, "When you enroll, just let us know what classes and we will credit the account."

At the same time, I had to move out of my house, I got a new car, and I'm still paying off my other school loans. So I called TCN and asked if I could drop the other courses because I don't think I will be able to complete the course and that I would like a refund. The gentlemen I was talking to said whether you choose to use it now or down the road or not use it at all, I'm still required to pay the money. They transferred me to Kim who listened to my question and stated she will call me back because her computer is down. About 3 hours later, she called me back and stated that she doesn't know why I was told 90 days when I only have 3 days to cancel and that the other lady who told me that I could get a refund was wrong in telling me that and began to be rude. So I hung up on her. I called back again and requested to speak to another manager and was told she was out for the day and to try tomorrow. I am angry that I am being forced to pay for something that from day one I was lied to about and that I will not use. So, basically, I am being forced to pay over $14,000 or destroy my credit for one horribly written chapter about the civil war.

I am an LVN, and I want to pursue my RN. In October 2008, a friend of mine and I went to the Ontario convention center for an orientation about the College Network. During this orientation, the representative, Robert **, had us fill out paperwork to sign up for the program. My friend and I were told that if at anytime we decided that this was not the program for us, we would be able to cancel at anytime. We signed up and received our first module.

In January 2009, due to my busy schedule, I decided to postpone school. At this point, I hadn't even cracked a book open, and The College Network had not obtained my transcripts from my previous school. I called to cancel the program, and I was told that I could not cancel and that I was responsible for the remainder of the loan. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and I was told it was no use and that I was responsible for the remainder of the loan. The customer service rep on the other end went as far as to tell me to take out a second on my house to pay for the load. He also instructed me to contact Robert, which I did.

I stated to him that he had originally told me that I could cancel the program at anytime. Of course, he denied ever saying that, stating "I never said that; that was never said. You have to cancel in 3 days." So now, I'm stuck paying $201.76 a month for something I don't even use. I called in May 2009 to see if I could get my payment defered. However, I was told they do not do deferments and that I needed to speak to someone in the billing department. But the billing rep was conveniently unavailable, and I never received a return phone call like I was told. I'm frustrated. Where do I go from here? Any suggestions?

I am a flight Paramedic in the Augusta, GA area. The College Network has pretty much stolen my money. I was going to do the Paramedic to RN class before Georgia banned it. In total, we are 5 people here in the same situation. We are putting together a group in order to sue The College Network. Please, if you are thinking of doing anything with them, don't. $3,100.00.

their sales pitch is a great one. i am not a person that gives my money away, yet when this guy sat down beside me i had no problem signing up. paid for it with cash money. they have great ideas, but beware of the small print. there are multiple issues that there is not much time spent on during the sales pitch. what i mean is...when you go to the supporting colleges, you know the ones that give you the exams from clep, dantes,...etc. they charge you 20$ cash money, just to sit in their chair. also each exam has a different cost anywhere from 80-205 dollars,(plus the sitting fee) this is a rip off, just got done taking one for the second time, it is a religious exam, the reason i have to have it is b/c the college is a catholic school.

so the exam has cost me 200$ for nothing so far. i have lost so much of my spare time b/c i have study many hours over this. also, they did not tell me this during the sale pitch, but you have to wait 180 days to re-take the exam when it is failed. so yes i have to study all over again, and it didnt even help:( i wanted to try this b/c i have a full time job and a family to care for. yes it did sound good, study at your own pace and then take the exam. but the fees seem to be adding up and for me there is driving involved, so far three exams, each with a 1.5 hour drive to facility that host the exam site.

when you study and put your spare time into something it is frustrating to fail at it. this company does not spell out all of the cost for you. nor do they spend alot of time on the issue that they are not a college. yet, once you are in it, it does not take long to figure out that they offer courses required for a four year college. i guess what i am saying is when this is finished, (if that ever happens) i could have called regis university and sign up for the required elective classes and been better off. this network needs to let ppl know they are not a official college. i am upset with process, all i would like to do is warn folks about this pathway.

I had just had my son and was at home on maternity leave. I decided to finish my BSN at home. A man came out to my home within a few days of me inquiring about their program. I was told that the program was a home study program. I knew nothing about having to take clep tests. When I figured out what the program was really about, I called TCN to speak to the man that signed me up. He did even work there anymore. They also told me that I didn't have to pay my student while I was paying for the modules. I never used the modules because I wanted a real at home or online degree, not prep for clep tests. I can't afford to pay monthly for these modules.

I'd like to be apart of a class action law suit if I could. Since that's not happening I'd be happy to know I saved someone from waisting their time and money. The College Network is a scam, they're awful. I already had my credit ruined from losing my job and home. They are still direct debitting my account which I'm stopping. Then I'll just have to see what I'm going to do after that. I'm extermely disappointed in how that company operates and takes advantage of vulnerable people especially women. No one can afford to be taken for a ride with their money in this economy. I pray we will all be free of them soon someday and that they get exactly what they deserve for cheating so many people.

I am an LVN graduate and thinking to pursue my career to RN, I searched online and at the BRN site and was redirected to The College Network site. Filled up the information and few days later got a call and set for an appointment. On March 14, 2009, a sales rep Clyde and Tyler Gebauer (father & son) from college network came to my house, thinking that only information will be explained and did not expect to sign any documents. I was told that I have to sign the contract and in any case I will change my mind I have until April 20, 2009 or has 90 days to cancel and that no money involved. I was asked to apply for a student loan but I declined and gave my credit card, and again I asked if ever I changed my mind I will not be charged and answered Yes. Few days later my credit card was charged.

In their letter of cancellation, it says you can call or mail the letter with a returned signature. I signed the original dated March 28, 2009 and mailed to 3815 River Crossing Parkway Ste 260, Indianapolis Indiana 46240. Few days later, I received the returned signature dated April 2, 2009.

On April 24, 2009, I got a letter from TCN with a Las Vegas address saying they received my cancellation letter but TCNs portion of the contract has been fulfilled. I maybe required to pay the remaining balance as per contract. As per Bernard Schrader letter, learning materials has been delivered. At this time I have not received any books or reading materials and never been online to access the program. I have not used any of their services whatsoever.

Me and my husband were stressed out on how to solve and not waste the amount in this present economy for the services I never used. I would like that the contract would be Null and Void.

I hope people will do more research before putting themselves into trouble.

I had a represenative from College Network come during work to talk to one of my coworkers, and convinced me somehow to sign the contract. A mistake on my part, but only being able to talk during a break I thought it sounded like a good deal. I have not ever opened but the first module, and never took one test. When I contacted the company to see what I needed to do to get out of the contract, the represenative stated I was obligated regardless. I cannot afford this program, and have tried to pay what little I can afford only to still be penalized with my credit. I don't feel I should have to pay for something i have never used, it seems ridiculous!!!! Need to know what steps to take next....

I joined the College Network in March 2008. At the time I was in the process of moving. I asked that the material be sent to my NJ address. It was sent to SC. When 3 weeks had passed and I hadn't received anything I called and confirmed the material was supposed to be sent to NJ. They appologized and said another packet would be mailed to me. I never received anything. When I finally moved to SC in June o8 the material was on my doorstep.

After a lot of aggrivation and reviewing the material provided, I decided that I did not want to take this course with The College Network. I called to cancel and was told that I had signed a contract stating I had 3 days to withdraw from the program and whether I used their services or not that I had to pay them. I feel that the contract is rediculously unfair. They expect you to make a decision before you even receive any material and before you can realize that they are very unprofessional and scam artists.

After doing some research I discovered that the materials provided and the tests that are and additional $205 don't match up. With the economy the way it is I can't afford to be paying for services that have not been rendered. I have been paying a 3rd party loan company $127 a month. Nowhere in the signed contract is there mention of a 3rd party loan. I was under the assumption that my payments were to the College Network. I feel that I am being robbed of my money $7,000, for a course that I am not even taking.

Payments of $127 a month have been being paid along with an inital payment of $500. My husband is currently working 2 jobs so we can make ends meet.

feeling sad and taken advantage of here in Virginia Beach, I am the victim of a scam artist, I feel so foolish, My husband and I have become the victims unknowningly to a smooth talking salesman, as well as several others I understand by the College Network.

I set up an appointment for a representative to come to my home to tell us about this so called College, he lied to us, and totally misrepresented the College Network telling us this was a federal student loan, and that all credits earned can be transferred to any college not true! we did not receive a cancellation form from Marty the salesman who represented himself as a college counselor, the bank never called us, or checked our credit to see if we could even afford this,

We then called the bank and realized this was not a federal loan as it was told to us, we then called Marty Porush who had us sign under false pretense, my husband explained to him the next day we wanted to cancel so he said no problem and gave us the number to the College Network to cancel, we then had to call College Network with whom we have contacted several times to cancel and to get answers from with no success, even when the circumstances have been explained over and over again, the same week we went to our bank and closed my account and explained to our bank the situation, we had our bank fax and send notice with a Notary stamp that we do not authorize your bank to loan any amount of funds to the College Network, Inc. and that I understand this is not a Federal Student loan program as explained by Marty Porush representing the College Network, and that this Lender is not authorized to give College network $7,000 plus 12% interest under our name, however we now understand that they did,

I have not received anything from the College Network and I have made it clear I cannot afford this program and that I have lost my job. The name of the bank is Southeast Federal Credit Union in Nashville, TN for which we have not heard from as of yet, however we did try to call and then sent to an answering machine, when I did speak to someone they could only say call the College Network, I am going to do all I can so this will not ever happen to anyone else, I hope this will help the others who have fallen victim to this.

I feel so stressed about our already drained finances, worried about losing our home and paying our bills, as well as feeling emotionally drained, I have been worried about this from the start.

In May of 2008 I graduated college and become an LPN. Shortly before graduation I was looking into options on how to pursue an LPN-RN degree. I came across an advertisement online for Excelsior college. I clicked on the link and it took me to The College Network's website. I filled in the info to have a representative contact me and shortly after I had one that came to my home.

She made statements like We are a publishing company that furnishes the materials necessary to get your degree through Excelsior. She also stated Professors at Excelsior write these modules which mimic the material you will see on the tests.

Never once did the representative tell me they had no affiliation with The College Network. The materials that she gave me state they are partners and this information is not true. I also received an email that states they have a collaborative agreement with Excelsior. I did not discover there was no relation until about 3 months after signing my contract. I was on a nursing blog and I came across fellow nurses that were experiencing exactly what I am right now.

I signed a contract financing learning modules and exams.

Now that I know there is no affiliation between The College Network and Excelsior, and that I was misinformed, I refuse to pay them any more money. I am one of many consumers that have been misled by The College Network. I have filed complaints with the FTC and the BBB. I have not yet sought legal action because I was hoping it would not have to go that far. I realize now that this is not something I can handle on my own because The College Network feels they are not in the wrong and that I should be paying them.

I will continue to seek out all means possible to ensure that this contract becomes null and void and that no other consumers will have to go through what so many of us already have with The College Network.

As a result, I have had to take a hit financially and it has been a severe setback in obtaing my goals as an RN.

The College Network is using deceptive trade practices to seek out individuals who, like myself, are wanting to better themselves. There is a nursing shortage and many individuals go into nursing to give something back to the community. The College Network is taking somthing away from not only the consumers that sign on the dotted line, but also the community in which these RNs desire to serve.

Purchased the program through The College Network LPN-RN - took the first test, barely passed. Their modules do not have all the info needed to pass the tests. I thought I was going through The College Network and NOT Excelsior. Come to find out it IS through Excelsior and there are problems getting certain states to accept the degree obtained from Excelsior.

I called TCN and told them I wanted to get out of the program - that I WOULD pay them for the modules, but that I wanted me test fees returned to my lender. I financed all my testing fees in with my loan. They told me that they do not have to return that money to me - so basically they have my money sitting in their savings account earning interest - while I am paying 12% interest on that money. That money has nothing to do with them at all - and they refuse to return it to me. This is robbery and this is not right. I do understand that since I signed the contract I have to abide by it for their modules even though I have not received them. But the testing money is not theirs and does not belong to them. So what happens now - I am not planning on going through their program - what becomes of that money sitting in their account? They are becoming unjustly enriched.

For a contract to be legal there must be something given - they are not giving me anything for my money in their account. I simply want my money back for the testing fees which will not be used - I do agree to pay them for their modules.

I now owe The College Network over $8000.00 because they are keeping my testing fees that will not ever be used - which accounts to a total of $2395.00.

I contacted the college network online for a project management certification. I was in the homebuilding industry and could see that things were going to become very difficult in the market place with rising foreclosures. My focus was to redirect my career into something that could withstand a recession that was becoming worse. The classes were in different segments that were being offered and you could pay individually or all at once, and of course it is cheaper to pay it all at once.

When I signed the contract via fax, they told me I had a certain time frame in which to complete the classes and the class fees were non-refundable. I also made payment arrangements for my tuition to be charged to my American Express each month in order to avoid monthly interest the college would charge going through their financing system. However, because I decided to make monthly payments on tuition on my card I was told I had to open an account with their credit union in order to do so. I did what they asked me and opened the account. I was told I was not financing through them and that I would not be paying interest on the tuition since I was having it directly billed to my American Express Card.

My situation changed drastically about two months after I signed the agreement with College Network. I called and told them that I could not attend the classes, and would return the book they had sent to my address on project management. I had not entered a classroom nor engaged in any activity that would indicate that I was a student there.

They told me that they could not return my money, nor could they allow me out of the contract. I went so far as to tell them that I was not going into project management and that I was now in the financial services industry and had to master other tests and project management would not benefit me. They did not care and basically told me I would be responsible regardless of attending. I have paid a total of 1257.85 from January 08 until June 08 when I stopped payment. The charge to my American Express was stopped because I started receiving statements from Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union (the institution used by The College Network) showed me paying a loan with interest accruing on top of the loan payment, yet they were direct billing my American Express which was being paid monthly. The whole reason that I direct billed the American Express was to avoid the interest payments that would have been accrued through financing the tuition through the college network. I had paid 132.22 in interest payments to the credit union servicing the college network.

I am not quite sure how a college can charge for classes that are not attended by the student. In addition, pay interest rates on tuition that was being directly billed to a credit card from a student. I am not flighty and have attended University of Phoenix online where I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Business/Marketing and also attend Capella University for a Master's of Science in Psychology. I have never encountered a situation where a school worth attending charged students for classes not attended and for upcoming classes they knew would not be attended by the student after being informed of non-attendance by the student. It is like paying for services that you never received. In addition to paying for agreeing to pay for all the classes upfront, I am really being hit because I am told I will be responsible for those as well....EVEN AFTER NOTIFICATION TO THE COLLEGE NETWORK THAT I WOULD NOT ATTEND THEM. I have obviously been scammed and do not wish others to be sucked into this as well.

Currently, my new career is difficult enough because basically I am having to build my business so income is minimal as it is commission only. I do not have additional funds to put towards paying off this ludicrous certificate program through the college network.

Misrespresent everything about there company. I was told they were a college. Was told if i was unhappy that I can get out of my loan (within 30days) They would not let me get out of my loan. They where rude and calling my job being rude and threating me. I have all materials still in package not open and they say i cant return them.

Signed a loan for school and its not even a school. Thought this will help my future but just bring me hell. NEED HELP!

I had a rep meet me about the program to go from an LPN to RN and stated accredited school (false) I received 1 module sociology and I decided this is not for me and then they said I had 14 addt'l classes to take. I told them I was withdrawing and I only owe them for that 1 class and they said I am responsible for the whole loan. I feel they should pay back the institution that gave them the loan since I withdrew. This is a lot of money and I feel that we should all do something about this scam.

I only have 1 subject notebook at home Sociology I have nothing else. They don't answer my letters and all they keep saying we have a guarantee and you are responsible from your end. This is not worth all this money I won't pay for something I don't have. They should pay back the money to Southeast Financial who gave them the loan.

My husband and I thought of going back to school and inquired on The College Network for help. We both signed up for classes but found we had no time to do it. We returned all the materials unopen and inquired on cancelling the account. We were then told that they understood we returned the product but we still had to pat off the loans. We thought that was wrong but we also just started to get our selfs out of debt and did not want it to further affect our credit so while we attempt to seek advise for what to do we have been paying.

I recieved a call on 12-24-08 from the bank who is handling our loan, Westcom, and explained to the rep that we just made the payment that was due for the month. The rep then became threating stating that due to the fact that we had missed payments in the past we have to pay off the amount to keep from any action being taken against us. I explained to the rep that we have been making our payments every month and that it was more than we could afford.

The rep again threaten me by stating she will garnish my wages as well as my husband if I do not pay. I explained that in order to garnish my wages she would need a court order and she could feel free to take me to court. She was still insistant that I pay and continued to threaten me. I ended up hanging up on her. I know that she was doing her job but doing what she did was crossing the line.

I researched College Network online to find online course options in Georgia. According to College Network they offered a LPN to ASN program through Excelsior College. According to the representative that spoke with me College Network would provide me with the books and then test out with Excelsior and then do my clinicals through Excelsior. I would then be able to sit for my boards and be endorsed in Georgia.

I signed the paperwork in November 2007. Unknown to me Excelsior was not meeting the requirements of the Georgia Board of Nursing and Georgia has since passed a law stating they will no longer endorse any student from Excelsior College. I am now stuck with books I can not use because I cannot get my license in Georgia.

Also I am being told by College Network that I am still responsible for paying for these books even though I cannot use them. College Network also told me I could send back 3 of the books and receive a credit but would still be responsible for the remainder. Why should I have to pay for something I should have been told upfront I may not be able to use? I was mislead from the beginning. I feel that I should not have to continue to pay this.

On Saturday, May 05, 2007. I met with a representative (Beryl Wilder) from The College Network in my home. I was given information on the LPN to BSN Home study program. The information sounded promising. I signed up for the home study program. I spent all day Sunday, May 06, 2007 going over the papers that I had signed. I also did some research via the internet on The College Network. After spending an entire day of researching. I decided the home study program was not for me. My paperwork stated that I had 72hrs to cancel my contract with Corporate America Family credit Union (the lender), and The College Network. I began making telephone calls to The College Network Monday, May 07, 2005. Each telephone operator attempted to convince me to stay in the program. Even, after I repeatedly explained that the program was not for me.

I continued trying month after month to contact a representative from The College Network regarding the cancelation of the agreement I signed on Saturday, 05/05/07. No one ever returned my calls. The College Network did do a mass shipment of study materials via UPS to me a week or so later. I continued trying to call and contact someone at College Network to cancel the contract even after receiving the study materials.

Unfortunately after a month had gone by my sister was diagnosed with a very aggressive breast cancer. My sister is still undergoing treatment. I continued to allow Corporate America Family Credit Union to deduct payments for the program from my checking account. I did so to protect my credit rating. I mailed Bernard Schraeder, medical records and treatment plans for my sisters illness. I am aware that this is in violation of HIPPA regulations. I tried to explain to them by letters that I am my sisters sole support. I asked for special consideration due to my sisters illness, and please allow cancellation of the contract.

This has been going on for approximately one year. I mailed all the books and material back to The College Network, and suspended the payment withdrawal from my checking account. The College Network has received all of the materials. I was sent a letter months later stating that they received the materials but they were not going to cancel my contract and that I am still responsible for payment. The College Network never sent the materials back to me after receiving them.

Since this time I have done my own investigation regarding the so called in home study program. They take advantage of hard working professionals, such as me, by falsely offering them a way to accomplish their dream. It appears that the only thing they are concerned about is the money and not your educational goals. I was also told by the representative that came to my home that The College Network was affiliated with Excelsior College; this was also found out to be a false statement.

During my research on the internet, I found out they have been misleading people for quite a long time. Unfortunately, I became one of the many victims. The Special Program Assistance representative Barbara Wiggins at (800) 634-1443, disregarded my concerns and disappointment with the program. Her only concern was about the $8,261.40. Its not fair that I have to pay for a program that I never completed. Unsurprisingly, she could not answer my questions. Barbara said I needed to bring my account current, and that the money had to be deducted from my checking or savings account, and that I could not make payments any other way. Barbara stated that I would be reported to the credit bureau. She also emphasized that I needed to reopen a checking or savings account after I told her that I had closed my account. Im now receiving harassing telephone calls at work interfering with my job.

My husband and I had a person come to our home to tell us about The College Network. The person ended up getting us to sign up for classes.Over time my husband I recieved the materials for the classes but were way too busy to attend classes. We did not open the materials sent to us and attempted to send them back to The College network.

When we did so we were told that eventhough we did not attend any classes or open the material we are still obligated to pay off the loan for the classes. We feel that we were pushed into signing up and when we realized we did not want to take advantage of the program and attempted to return the material unopen we were shunned and told too bad.

While my husband and I are now attempting to fix what little credit we have and reconstruct our finacial lives we feel the treatment from The College Network is unfair and a hudge financial burden when we are not even using thier services. We have returned the product still in the origanal packaging and feel we should not be obligated to continually pay for a service we are not using nor have ever used.

The college net work was in california and misrepresented themselves. There was an investigation in the state of california to not allow the Ecelsir program in this state and they did not disclose that to me...if they had i would not have signed a contract to try and get my RN. the state is now not allowing this as an accredited school. I found this out from my friend who also joined program. I never received a letter stating this but she did.

consequences will be i need to get out of this contract, not sure how to go about this.
