Clayton College of Natural Health

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Paid $2,700 down and $140.28 per month beginning April 5th 2008 for a Doctor of Naturopathy degree. For a total of $6,066.72 through April 2010, plus $500 in books. I was only two years into a five year program when Clayton College closed. I have requested a refund and the school responded with "the school does not have the resources to pay me one. " However, I was told by the Alabama Attorney General's Office, that there is a school bond that will offer some type of refunds. Clayton College is offering a "teach out" program, which allows you to complete your course work by January 2011. This is not an option for me, as I have only completed three courses in two years.

In addition, I was in an automobile accident in 2009 that left me disabled and I am having another surgery in October 2010. I have not been able to work in over a year and will not be able to work in the near future. Clayton College did not fulfill their obligation, but took my payments. They even took the auto payment for July and then announced they were closing! I was able to dispute the charge with my credit card company for July and August 2010. This is a crime, I have been robbed of over $6,000 and need help with a plan of action. Should I try to file in small claims court? I just don't know what to do at this point. Thanks for your time.

This is a distance learning accredited college and I have been a student for 3 years in the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. I just found out without any notice from another classmate that Clayton College closed their business. I'm completely upset with the way the college handled the closing and it was a reputable college. The consequences are that I'm a 55-year-old divorced woman and I was hoping to start a new career to help me with future retirement and a career that I would enjoy and I'm completely upset. This has ruined my whole life plan at this point. I'm completely confused and very upset that I lost this money and might have to start over and can't afford it now.
