On or about November 13, 2002, I left a rust suede shirt at Regency Cleaners. I was told at that time the shirt would be contracted out and a $20.00 deposit would be necessary to cover the cost. No other cost was mention at that time, the clerk said it would take about 2-3 weeks. I received a phone call telling me that my shirt was ready and there was an additional charge of $18.50 and there was nothing she could do about it. I told her I would come in talk to the manager about it.

My husband and I went in on or about December 18, 2002 and ask to speak to the manager Carmen Campbell. I gave her my name and explained the situation. She admitted that I should have been told of the cost upfront. She pulled my shirt and said the charge was an additional $32.50. Now the total charge had grown to $52.50 to clean my suede shirt. I had originally paid only $30.00 for the suede shirt, and if I had any idea that the cost was going to be higher than my deposit, I would not have left the shirt at all.

I was led to believe that the $20.00 deposit would cover any charges that were contracted out. This is extortion; they have my $20.00 deposit and my suede shirt. Regency Cleaners is unwilling to discuss any concession or try to resolve this matter.
