Postal Service May Seek Service Cut
Movie Fans Suspect Foul Play at the Post Office

Ruth of Willowbrook, IL September 18, 2009

I sent 2 separate small packages to Italy, one in May the other in June, and neither have been delivered. I had completed and attached the required Customs form, making sure that the packages were clearly labeled (including the recipient's phone number). I was told by the post office that there is nothing they can do to track the packages, even though I gave them the Customs numbers. Their response to my continued pleading was silence. They could not even confirm that the packages had been delivered to Italy.

The pacakages contained birthday gifts for my son and granddaughter. My 5-year old granddaughter's heart was broken because she did not receive the toys and books she had been promised. The post office has been very uncooperative and I feel like I've hit a brick wall with them. This will be the very last time I use the USPS to ship a package.

GLORIA of DES MOINES, WA September 17, 2009

On May 09, 2009 I mailed a package to my daughter who lives in Paris France from our USPS office in Des moines Washington. I use shipper assistance in my home and printed out the label and presented it to the post office in Des Moines Washington. The item was mailed France-First class mail international Parcel weight 3 lb.11.30 OZ box, NOT A LETTER. Customs form #LJ352631535US and postage paid for this service was 29.68 USD.

I would not be complaining today, but this is the secon and third time mail has dissappeared right here in the USA and not delivered to the addressee. At the post office I was told that there was no way to track this type of mailing. It seems incredible that we can not do something or at least get our money back for the items missing. The items in this mailing was bath supplies to my daughter whom lives in Paris France. We have no recourse in these matters. I recently went to Paris France in July this year and my daughter and I went to her Local post office where the cumtoms offices are located for each arrondisimo, and was told that the package never made it to Paris. I only hope that we as a people who beleive in the USPS product can get some of these matters taken care of.

Scott of Spencerville, OH September 15, 2009

Multiple packages lost over the past year. Much more than a regular postal service branch. Many many complaints from other customers also who have lost to many packages as compared to other post offices.

Russell of Gilbert, AZ September 14, 2009

The US Postal Service lost my mailed VISA payment to Bank of America. Desert Schools Credit Union said it will cost 30.00 to cancel the lost mail/check.

Amanda of Owasso, OK September 13, 2009

On August 21, 2009, I purchased your priority mail service at the Tulsa Main Post Office. The documents being mailed contained highly confidential passport application material, which I believe has been compromised by the post office. My passport application was being expedited by Travisa in San Francisco, CA; they never received the information. I needed my passport expedited to join my husband who was already in Switzerland for an unexpected business trip. The passport application included an official birth certificate, copy of driver’s license, social security number, mother’s maiden name, mother, father, and husband’s date and origin of birth, and two checks from my personal bank. The post office employee knew the contents of the package to be mailed. She also had knowledge to the package’s critical contents.

On Friday, August 21, I immediately mailed the passport application package after completing the verification process at the Tulsa County Court House. I wanted to get the package mailed that day so I opted to mail it from the Tulsa Main Post Office which is very close to the Court House. The passport application was sealed in a manila envelope by the Court House. On the envelope, the clerk wrote the purpose of the contents but did not write the address of the package’s mailing destination. Since I was inexperienced at mailing international passports and its application process, I assumed that some direction could be given at the post office. The post office employee, clerk 10, had a very unfriendly attitude about assisting with mailing of this package. I showed her the manila envelope that I just received from the Court House and tried to explain what I trying to do. She looked at how the envelope was labeled and insisted that I return to the Court House. She interrupted me several times during my explanation and insisted that I needed to go back to the Court House. I had to talk over her so that she would hear that I did indeed have an address to mail the package.

She finally handed me a priority mail envelope so that I could mail my passport application to San Francisco, CA. By this time, I was extremely flustered and I knew she really did not want to be assisting me. I ended up purchasing priority mail without a tracking and confirmation number. It was such an unpleasant experience that I just wanted to get out as fast as possible. I returned the appropriately labeled package to the post office clerk and paid for priority mail. Because of the time sensitive importance of the material I told the clerk before I left that a prayer needed to go with my item being mailed. She thought that I was implying to the address destination being questionable, however, I didn’t tell her that I was referring to the importance of its timely arrival.

In addition to the mailing complication, there was only one post office clerk working the front on a busy Friday afternoon. There was a long line of customers and no clear directions of where to stand to receive service. It was a chaotic situation. Clerk 10 announced that everyone decided to take the day off.

On August 28, 2009, I called the Tulsa postmaster, Kathy J, to report the missing package. Ms. J told me that she didn’t know what she could do for me. I was advised by Ms. J to call Consumer Affairs Office in Oklahoma City. Therefore, I called Kerri R and reported my situation. On August 30th, I called Ms. R office back to get an update on my passport application package. I was told that it was probably chewed up in the mailing device and they would look for it at their “damaged mail” location.

As of September 13, 2009, Travisa has never received my original passport application. I had to apply a second time for the expedited passport through Travisa’s Washington office. The post office’s loss of my passport application package has cost me substantial time and money. An expedited passport can not be obtained without a flight ticket. Therefore, I have rebooked my flight twice that has cost me 600 in fees. I have also attached a fraud alert to the major credit agencies and paid to join an identity theft protection agency. Next, I have to close my account and reopen another account at my bank. I did not use the United States Postal Service for my second passport application submission. I paid approximately 100 in service fees to have FedEx mail my application to and from Travisa’s Washington Office.

Ukamaka of Boston, MA September 12, 2009

Yen of Spring, TX September 12, 2009

I bought an item on eBay that included free shipping and delivery thru USPS First Class Mail. The tracking number infirmed that the item would be delivered to me on Sep.7 - Sep. 10. I waited until Sep.l1 and to my surprise, in my mailbox, the mailman misplaced tons of other people's letters in my mailbox AND NOT a single letter belonged to me!!! This has happened several times in the last four months. I HATE USPS!!!

christina of west hollywood, CA September 11, 2009

I've been awaiting the delivery of 5 different packages for over two weeks. I only have tracking information for 2 of the 5 packages. But those 2 have been stuck at this SUNSET USPS facility since August 27th. I've called this branch and inquired and all they say is that there are NO packages there with my name or address, and I need to take it up with the companies that sent the packages. Yet, the tracking provided says clearly that the packages are stuck SOMEWHERE at their facility, they arrived and never left.

If these packages are never delivered, it will be over 300 worth of merchandise i paid for and never received. Not too mention all of the cell phone minutes I've wasted trying to track down the packages, or the price of my time. What's most frustrating, is the 2 packages with tracking numbers were sent by FedEX and then "surrendered" to USPS for delivery. What's the point of paying for something to be FedExed only to have USPS lose it when it's less than 2 miles from my home?

Sariah of Hallandale Beach, FL September 9, 2009

Karamjit of Macedonia, OH September 8, 2009

i ordered my medicine online on august 17th 2009 and USPS showed it was delivered to their post office in macedonia on August 22, 2009. when i called them about the package. all they could say was it was delivered and its not their responsibility that i have not received it. they refused to reimburse me for the lost package.

it resulted in physical and financial damage to myself. i was off my medication for 3 weeks which affected my fibroids because i had to be on the pills for 4 months straight to get results. Also, i spent 84.99 for a month supply and now i had to spend another 84.99 to replace the lost pills.
