Postal Service May Seek Service Cut
Movie Fans Suspect Foul Play at the Post Office

patrik of northridge, CA October 13, 2009

Box of toys and clothes from family over seas didn't arrive for months. Then one day I get a clear plastic packet with only the address label torn off, with a lame "we care" message stating that they "sincerely regret the damage to your mail during handling by the Postal Service". Damage? It is pure theft! There were boxes of Lego and children's toys. And some unscrupulous postal worker clearly decided to take it all.

If the package had been damaged, at least some if not all of the contents would have been recovered and delivered. Not just a torn off area where the address is. I'm amazed that theft is so simply dismissed by USPS. Large box full of children's clothes and toys gone. never arrived.

david of santa teresa, NM October 11, 2009

priortiy mailed a small box 5 by 5 by 5 inches from the UPS store north mesa st El paso, Tx, it has been 9 days, it never got there. this was a birthday present for my son, we have very little money and I can't afford to do this again, the US postal service has ruined this for us . I wll never use prioity mail EVER AGAIN.

Max of Knoxville, TN October 10, 2009

Four packages of medium size from different sources were not delivered to my address. I consulted the post office about it, and they did not have my packages and said there was nothing they could do for me. Value of lost packages: 68.99 7.00 13.00 35.00 total: 123.99

Daria of San Diego, CA October 9, 2009

The US Postal Office lost my 30 pound package (I am the recipient). I keep calling and filing claims. The package was send on August 15th.

Gregg of bellport, NY October 9, 2009

I mailed a large item using USPS. I watched their recent media blitz on there services and decided to give them a shot. The box weighed 38lbs and was the size of a small dormroom refrigerator. I mailed the item from Patchogue,NY post office to north bergen,NJ. I have been run around to several different departments and the postal supervisors had me call the other post offices to check to see if they have it. When I ask the postal workers are incredibly rude and unhelpful. I aksed if my package was there and the person said "no", the funny thing is they did not even ask for any information about the package. When I stated that she did not ask me any info she was rude again saying that she know there is nothing there that is not delivered. Finally I get the rude postal worker to look, but she probably just sat by the phone with it on hold for a minute. I willnever use this servie again. I have insurance on the item, we will see if they pay.

Kavita of Irvine, CA October 8, 2009

I was supposed to receive a very important package through USPS from Boston, MA. It was sent through priority mail. Unfortunately, there was no insurance taken, so there isn't any tracking number. Its been more than two weeks and there is no follow up. I have been contacting local main post office without much luck.

Kira of Durham, NC October 7, 2009

I sold a pair of concert tickets on eBay about a week before the show. I sent the tickets by Priority Mail on Tuesday, September 29. It's supposed to take 2-3 days, so they should have been there by Friday. According to online tracking, the package arrived at the buyer's local post office on Thursday, October 1, but they have not been delivered. It's now Wednesday, October 7, more than a week after I mailed them, and they still haven't been delivered. The concert was Monday, so the buyer didn't get to go. No one will answer my phone calls or emails about the problem.

Edward of Hobe Sound, FL October 3, 2009

I purchased an engagement ring online for over 2,000 and it was shipped to my residence. I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend after 2 years this October. The ring was slightly damaged so I contacted Natural Diamond Center to get an exchange. When I shipped the item back to Natural Diamond Center I used USPS priority mail with signature confirmation.I can barely afford this ring as it is. I was never asked if I wanted insurance or anything so I assumed It would be safe. The item left Hobe Sound, FL (my local post office) at 4:03 pm September 21st and was processed through Orlando, FL 32862 at 1:26 am on September 22nd. This status never Changed so I called USPS customer Service and opened a case on September 29th at 9:30 am. They reassured me that the package probably was just not scanned and is not lost. I contacted Natural Diamond CEnter and they have not recieved the package. I also called the USPS branch in Los Angeles, CA 90013, but they told me that according to their computer the package has never arrived here nor has it arrived at the location. Noone is being of anyhelp.

The package was listed as "Processed through sort facility" and customer service says that that means it went through that location and is not their any longer however I am not so sure about that from past experience with packages. (other packages I have tracked have previously said "Processed Through one location" and then Processed through the same exact location like 6 days later) Meaning that the package never left the facility for 6 days it just was processed. I don't know what else to do. Who should I contact? I heard something about a Recovery Center for the USPS that auctions off lost items each month. I need help. Noone will give me a straight answer and do not know where my package is.

Angela of Covington, VA September 30, 2009

My Husband and I placed several bills out in the box to be mailed all on the same day and none of the bills made it to the destination. Now we are facing 10 late charges and 23 per check to cancel them. What a mess. We called the post office and the only comment that was made is that all of the mail they have recived has been shipped out and is not thier error.

daniel of monterey, CA September 30, 2009

I shipped my luggage from Reinosa, Spain, to Monterey, California,on August 6, 2009. I bought insurance and they told me it would take between 4-6 weeks. It has almost been 8 weeks now and when I contacted the USPS, they told me the only info they could give me was that it arrived in the New York on August 9. They then told me to contact the post office in Spain, which I did. The post office in Spain told me that they had no information for me and it was in the hands of the United States. So what do I do?! Nobody can provide any information to me about my luggage.
