USPS - Lost Mail |
||||
|
Gerald of columbia, LA October 20, 2009 Sent documents required by National Visa center for my parents who are living in the Philippines. Used the expressed mail services of the USPS on Oct 9,2009 expected delivery was 10/13/09. The documents left the local post office on 10/9/09. It was scanned at the distributing office on 10/9/09. That was the last recorded activity. I called the USPS and they said that they lost the documents and cant find it. They said that they will refund the fee. How convenient for them to refund the fee, i dont care about how much i paid them. They were entrusted with the delivery of the service and now they lost it. Gaurav of Dallas, TX October 19, 2009 Kindly investigate the two USPS mails that I've not received at my home address. 1. USPS Tracking # (Canada Express Post) - Showing 'Arrival at Unit' since October 02, 2009 and Post Office is not resolving the issue. 2. USPS Tracking # (Priority Mail) - Showing 'Delivered' since September 28, 2009 but I did not received it and Post Office is not resolving the issue. Our Credit Card, U.S. Department of Labor document with SSN information in it, Bank checkbooks, Canada Permanent Resident Cards, Visa-related documents are at risks. Ron of Moore, OK October 16, 2009 This is our third parcel shipped from this Post Office that was lost. The packages were not expensive, but did have some value. We did not take insurance, but we did expect the USPS to be able to deliver. We followed up with a complaint, but have heard nothing back. The local USPS was suppose to call after 48hrs, but we have heard nothing. ADEMI of PEMBROKE PINES, FL October 16, 2009 Insured Priority parcel was mailed to my mother Ms. G on 18 Sept 2009 from Florida. When I contacted my mother telephonically to follow up on whether she had received the parcel telephonically she stated she had not. I further asked if a Delivery Attempt Notice had been left on her door or perhaps inside her mail-box, she replied "NO". I went on line and tracked and confirmed Label# 0780 5216 6520 4400 5722. A request for re-delivery was submitted with confirmation# WER13141592 but NO delivery was made. I additionally called and spoke directly with the Bronx postal supervisor Mr. Rick R and he suggested I gave the mail-man more time on 28 Sept 09 at approximately 11:25 hrs. A second re-delivery was requested telephonically and the representative who answered the phone assigned the same confirmation# WER13141592, however NO re-delivery was attempted. My mother is 73 years old and got ill and flew from Florida to New York to stay with her from 02 Oct thru 12 Oct and NO re-delivery was made of the parcel in question. Upon my arrival back to work on 13 Oct 09, (Tuesday), I checked on- line and no further status available. I contacted the 1-800-275-8777 and was informed by young representative that the package was on its way back to me. I then contacted the local Bronx Postal Service Supervisor Mr. S at 718-588-2195 and provided him with the Label# and he couldn't understand why I was informed that the package was being returned to me when he couldn't see that status. He was going to track down the package and get back with me. I provided him my telephone# at work. I'm sure it was stuck somewhere in a holding area in his post office. However I didn't hear from him. Today (15 Oct 09), at 0948 hrs I spoke with supervisor Mr. Rick R and my work phone# and message for Mr. S in reference to him getting back with me. Bottom line: No attempt was ever made for delivery nor was there a delivery attempt notice left. Secondly, no re-delivery attempts have been made and now parcel apparently is lost. Lastly, why hasn't the tracking status been updated? Hannelore of New York, NY October 16, 2009 Certified letter with 85 checks from different individuals mailed from Gracie Station 10028 to Brooklyn, NY. Tracking shows letter was sent on October 3 but there is no tracking follow up as to receipt or where letter might be. vern of eminence, MO October 15, 2009 yes i had a package sent too me from murrphysbouro tn it was mailed out on the 8th of oct and was traced by the va it took until the 13 of oct for it too reach kansas city mo, i live in eminence mo today is the 15th and the package hasnt arrived yet what is up with the bad service why is it taking so long to move a simple first class package. william of union grove, AL October 15, 2009 i bought a truck part from a guy on ebay for 200 dollars. if anyone is familar with steering gears off of trucks, then you know what i'm talking about when i say they are very heavy. the idiot i bought it from put it in a cardboard box with a board in the bottom, which makes sence, so the steering gear wouldn't fall out of the bottom of the box. what he didn't do was fix the sides of the box. now here's where the u.s. postal sevice comes in. the package was shipped from ohio to alabama. it only made two other stops along the way. sometime during shipping the steering gear busted out the side of the box. the way the box looks, its as if they picked it up from one bottom corner and one top corner, now when this thing fell out, someone had to know because it would have hit the ground hard and if it landed on their foot they dang sure would have known. well someone did know because they took the time to taped the box back up and continued to ship it without the parts in it. so somewhere between ohio and alabama there's a steering gear with my name on it. i doubt i will ever get the parts back. the guy didn't get the insurance and the usps says i'm SOL. so my advice to anyone is to never use the usps and if you buy something from someone that plans to use them, ask them or beg them to get the insurance even if you have to pay for it Linda of Chester, VA October 14, 2009 On September 30, 2009, I sent a package by Priority Mail Flat Rate medium box from the Colonial Heights, VA post office. I did not insure the box or put tracking on the box as I was in a hurry. I paid for the postage by transaction #23-902420157-99 at 7:57 am. The box was sent to Norfolk, VA. The return address was on the box Chester, VA. When she had not received the box on Saturday 10/3/09, I called the Colonial Heights post office and the person told me that there could be a delay because they were moving the Richmond, VA USPS distribution office around and it could cause a delay. They told me that it could take as much as 30 days to get the box and they would not start looking for 30 days. I searched the internet and found an 800 # for USPS lost packages 1(800) 222-1811. They gave me a Case # CA100162678 and said that since it did not have a tracking # that it was not a lot they could do but someone would call me in 48 hours. When no one called by Friday 10/9/09 I called again and they told me to call the Norfolk post office that serviced zip code 23508. The gave me an excuse that the person delivering to the Old Dominion University campus was new and to give it a few days and it would show up. It is not 10/14/09 and the package is still missing. I am reading a lot of comments on the internet that it will probably never be found as inspectors have probably stolen the merchandise and the rest that they did not want would be auctioned off in Atlanta. This really disturbs me that I put a Priority Mail package in the mail and no one is willing to find it. It is the obligation of the USPS to get a package to its destination and our USPS is failing and they are continuing to cry for more money. I will never send another package because the attitude of the people that I talked to was not acceptable (the people that answered the 800 #, the gentleman in the Colonial Heights, VA post office and the lady in the Norfolk, VA post office). Any help from consumer affairs would be helpful. Leslie of Hamilton, NJ October 14, 2009 On Sept. 14, 2009, I mailed a personal check for 350 to an individual in Toms River, NJ. This mail was never received. On Oct. 9, 2009, I opened a case with 1-800-ASK-USPS to which I received a canned email response: "Unfortunately, an occasional piece of mail may fail to reach its destination. When mail items are found during our processing operations, they are collected in the "loose in the mail" section of the Post Office. The item(s) are held for 7 days pending a match with a sender or an addressee. However, at times no match occurs. Sometimes an item will find its way to the Mail Recovery Center (MRC) in Atlanta , GA. Items of value will be held at the in MRC for 90 days. " The bank wants 31(!) to issue a 'stop-payment'. That may not seem like much unless you are out of work as I am. Tabious of Colonial Heights, VA October 13, 2009 I shipped a package at the Parham Road post office on 9/24/2009. This package was returns to JC Penney. I purchased delivery confirmation but didn't think to purchase insurance (my fault). However, after the 3 day period past at which time the package should have arrived, i called the 800# to follow up. I was told that i couldn't open a case until after 5 business days. After the 5 business day i called back and opened a case. I was told i would be contacted in 48 hours with an update in reference to my package. i was not call. i called back and was told that the system used to view case updates were down and that i should call back. I called back again today and was told that i would be contacted on the 14th (tomorrow) with the final update. The rep was able to tell from the activity on my case that the package was not recovered. And that someone from consumer affairs would be contacting me. I am very disapointed but now know that if i am sending anything of value i should purchase the insurance. I would also add that if the item can't be replaced. i would not even use the post office if i bought insurance. The post office needs to be audited and held responsible for losing people's packages. I don't even think they refund the price you pay for shipping the package. | |||
