Consumer Protection Agencies

The best way to avoid being a victim of fraud is to look before you leap. Deal only with established businesses, never make major financial commitments without shopping around. A good rule of thumb is to avoid ALL telemarketers, e-mail solicitations and in-home salespeople.

Consumer protection information is available from national organizations and from community agencies. Your state's Attorney General's Office is often a good place to start.
