John of Cortlandt Manor, NY January 7, 2009

John of Cortlandt Manor NY (01/07/09)
Classmates.com is accused of signing me up for automatic renewal without my consent as well as debiting my account without same. They claim that at date of last renewal, 10/2008, that I consented to this. From what I remember at the time, there was no option on the page for such, unless it was hidden or obscured.

Date of this violation was 1/5/2009. Customer e-mail support is disabled on the site, as of this morning. I searched the Web and found the number, 425-917-5005. When I contacted Customer Service, they were nasty, arrogant and refused to refund me any money, claiming that I knowingly consented in October for them to automatically debit my account.

At times that I have let my account expire, I get guestbook signatures from people I don't know, prompting me to renew my account to see who has signed it. This is another deceptive tactic that must be stopped.

Privacy and security. I do not allow any business to deduct money from my account unless I authorize it. In this case, I did not.

Was charged a 39.00 renewal and I had no idea this was being done. Classmates.com did not have the OK to do this.

Had to take out of my savings to cover this so I would not have any checks returned NSF

Ona of Beaumont CA (01/07/09)
I learned it may be an illigitimate sight preying on lonely people, hoping to reconnect with old friends from school days. To think it is a fraudulent sight made me cry, and it made me angry too.  I cryed, it is emotionally intrusive to think someone would be faking responses whatever they may be.

F. of Simpsonville, SC January 6, 2009

F. of Simpsonville SC (01/06/09)
I signed for a three month interval to receive new contacts. The contacts were over a year old. I had already seen them. Also, some of the contacts we unknown to me. Classmates.com charged me again after the three month interval. I went to the site and changed the billing from automated to manual, as instructed, along with a message to terminate my membership. I wanted to get written confirmation that my membership, and automatic billing would stop. When I tried to access the designated site, the server said that it could not be found. Whenever I visit the site I keep getting instructions to change my billing from automated to manual. I have done that, and am not sure that it means that my membership and billing have been terminated.
