Class Action Targets Classmates
Classmates Joins Netzero, Juno
NetZero, Juno Merge into United Online

Lewis of Philadelphia PA (02/05/08)
i was charged a 39 fee for a 1 year membership that i did not authorize. After complaining about the charge with numerous emails to no avail, I was sent as an option the 15 dollar three month option since WE do not give refunds....i was then charged 15 dollars as well as the 39....causing my checking to overdraft. And low and behold: no more replies from my emails to classmates.com.

I was charged for overdrafts with my checking account.

My membership was renewed automatically last year in Oct. (2007). I did not want to continue my membership. I e-mailed them a message asking them who gave them the approval to renew? This is now going on my third month of being billed without authorization.

I changed e-mail providers a year ago to get away from the spam etc. from Classmates.com. Somehow, Classmates.com has my new e-mail address, and now I receive their spam, and others. They do not have contact information to send my request for them to stop, but they do have a system for their members (which I am NOT one) to sign in and whatever (close membership?). I believe Classmates.com is perpetuating their spam by having a burdensom system that does not allow us to officially notify them to stop.

I signed up for Classmates.com several years ago. They keep charging my credit card without my permission. I have sent them a letter of cancellation. I have not used their service for several years. How do I resolve this?

I signed up for Classmates.com,3 months ago. The payment looked like a one time deal and I was very careful about reading what I was signing up for. I did not see an AutoRenew info in there at all.

I tried to call with a phone number provided from a previous complaint. The CS Agent argued with me that EVERYONE who pays is opted in but your not notified. Then you have to go in your My Account and change it to Manual and then CALL to verify. I told her if she wanted to play hard ball so could I and my next step was to contact my bank, the state attorney, the BBB and consumer groups. She immediately back peddled and said, "I never said I wouldn't give you a refund. The refund will take up to 30 days."

I am still contacting my bank to let them know.
