Lots of folks are mad at Fleet. At least one class action suit has been filed against the bank, charging that it uses deceptive practices in promoting its credit cards, promising customers "fixed" rates which nevertheless rise rapidly. Here are some of the reasons:

Unfortunately, Fleet's unsavory actions are not uncommon and it can be very difficult for an individual consumer to take effective action. We all need to be more like Maria of Oregon City, who simply refused to let Fleet bulldoze her.

Fleet's banking customers aren't exactly hopping happily either.
