Direct Merchants Bank Telemarketers

Cliff of Lake Elsinore CA (9/15/03):
I keep getting harassing phone calls from Direct Merchants (my caller ID says Metris Companies but they say they're Direct Merchants) who seem to be trying to sell something but are very vague and very rude and are calling for my sister (who just turned 18 a couple days ago and has never lived here) as early as 8:00am in the morning. My sister has never had an account with these people, but from the way I'm being treated, you'd think she either owed them money or that they just hated me because I refuse to pass along a telemarketing phone call.

The last guy that called insisted that he'd keep calling, said it was a "personal matter", and said that my sister listed this number as her home phone, that what he was doing was legal, and that he would not remove me from his marketing list, because I wasn't on a marketing list. So I don't get it. The first time they called, the person said it was "very urgent," that "she call us back today." I was worried so I called my sister to have her check it out, they were very rude and wouldn't tell her anything as far as what it was regarding, they only insisted that she give them her Social Security number or something, which seems very odd to me.

If making people mad is some sort of new sales tactic, Direct Merchants will be the first to exploit that tactic, I assure you.
